Anyone have any Info? Is this once daily only? Is it rng for a shot at having one to drop?

I’m thinking they allow once daily. After 12 days you get the skin. Which would just happen to be Xmas

Any info? Thanks.

Good PVP'ers vs. Bad PVP'ers

$

I've noticed something that has been a plague on PVP games in the last 15 years that I've been playing them that I think is utterly hysterical, as follows:

Many of the players of today that believe they are great PVP'ers do not actually fight the best opponents in open world PVP. This is common in not just ESO, but in games like WoW, EVE Online, Aion, etc. Essentially, what occurs, is a similar form of what we used to use clans / guilds for back in the day. I'll use a comparison of my 1st experience in a PVP game, with Lineage2 vs. my current experience in MMO's through the lens of ESO.

Lineage 2 - 15 Years ago.

In this game, gear grinding was insane, to have a B grade weapon (weapons scaled to S) you basically had to have been playing for almost 2+ years, at level 55+ grinding out 10% XP in a day required about a 12 hour investment, when you got to level 65+ it was basically 12 hours to make around 5%.

The penalty of death was 2-3% XP, and if you died in PVP and it wasn't a clan war and you were near level cap you were basically losing the last 12 hours of your XP grinding every time you died. Also, if you ganked someone who didn't want to fight, you received Karma which needed to be worked off slaying monsters, your name was red and you had a significant risk of dropping your gear if someone killed you while you had karma. Dropping something like a weapon would set you back at least a year.

This is what guilds were built and predicated on. You wanted to maximize individual gain and minimize losses by surrounding yourself with quality players and working as a team to accomplish very difficult goals. This encouraged teamwork between the best players, setting aside of ego, and created a natural hierarchy in the game in which the best players formed an alliance, managed the castles they won, and made it possible for the people who were playing in the zones they owned the castles of an opportunity to make significant in game currency (very rare) if the alliance managed the seeding process properly.

The best players were also the best PVP'ers. You needed to defend your grinding area's (TOI - Tower of *** I forgot the name) grinding angels was a hotly contested spot, and many times when we were at war with another clan we would fight over the opportunity to grind experience in these area's for hours on end. The best players were constantly fighting the best players for the best grinding spots.

ESO - Current Day

In this game, gear grinding is very easy. Some of the best gear is easily crafted and the stat bonuses from gold jewelry / gear is very minimal, you can be a very competent player in epic purple attire. Grinding XP is so easy that we have over 810 champion point levels. You can play casually and still be very competitive.

The penalty for death is almost totally non-existent. You don't need to repair your gear, the only thing you suffer is a respawn and having to run back to the fight. You will never lose something you worked for.

Guilds are now built and predicated on their ability to do specific things well (Trials) or are primarily social gathering places, with no hierarchy of who the best players are, and very little reason to set aside ego or differences to accomplish a greater goal, because no greater goal actually exists. I should note, this isn't the case for trading guilds, the last bastion of what a real guild should be based on, which many players in the forums want to ruin because they don't like the idea of paying dues. Old players have no incentive to teach new players how to learn how to play, because overall difficulty isn't that hard, finding enough players to do the content is fairly easy, even if you have drama with 90% of your server. Only the highest level achievements in the game now require teamwork.

The best PVE'ers and best PVP'ers are separated for the most part, though more often than not you find that the best PVP'ers are also very good at PVE as they have a serious working knowledge of the class and its limitations/best skills/best stat / gear allocation, etc. But, these so called PVP'ers that we find in ESO, don't actually fight each other, more often than not. Many of them have multiple characters across multiple factions, and rather than put themselves into a guild where they would need to control their ego, they separate into dueling circles or small guilds that don't fight each other in open world, and most have no idea how to play as a team.

They talk on the forums like they want "serious PVP" - they groan for balance - they complain about lack of challenge - yet they purposely limit the challenges to themselves as players (other good players) by boosting their ego ganking scrubs while totally ignoring the players who give them a challenge in Cyro.

i.e.

Majority of people on the forums are fake. I think this reflects our society today as well. Most of the people talking to you are liars today, with no interest in challenging themselves, constantly seeking the easy way out, massaging their ego's, and running from or refusing to challenge themselves due to a fear of having their ego crushed. They have no idea how to take their "L"'s and instead will focus on how a class is op, it was a 1vX, a mob hit them once, etc.

I know this comes off as a "Back in my day" and it's true, games are way more accessible today than they used to be because of a lot of the things mentioned above, and that's a good thing, but I'll say this -

If you think you're good at PvP but all you do is run around Cyro 1vX'ing scrubs and fighting the occasional duel against good players, while your group avoids fighting those good players because they are your "friends" - you're not good. Gone are the days when guilds had purpose, men and women set aside ego's to accomplish complete server domination for their guild, and good players treated each other with respect on virtual battlefields.

Enjoy the rest of your day you tea bagging clowns :)

Truly this is a fantastic robe and I jumped at the chance to buy it, however when I go to dye the robe I am unable to change the Gem color from the really garish Orange that is the default. The gems should have been mapped to the third color so that they could be altered to better coordinate with the body of the dress and the scarf piece. Could you please change this?

Daily rewards reset if relog with unclaimed reward

$
0
0
This has happened several times now over the past two months. I will login (typically within the hour before reset), claim the reward, then do my crafting dailies and then the new reward will become available during this time and I"ll claim it. Rarely, I will not claim it (Tel Var stones for instance) and decide I want to claim those on an alt. It seems most times when I do this, the reward will reset during the switch to my alt. So then it shows "View Rewards" instead of "Claim" and the timer will be reset to full as if I hadn't already claimed the prior day's reward.

I put in a support ticket for this yesterday, but they didn't seem to understand my issue (as it is confusing to try and explain) and wound up giving me 250 Tel Var stones instead of addressing why the timer reset and how my calendar is now off by a day. I'd like to better understand how this daily login timer works so that I may claim rewards on another character occasionally without losing a day each time I attempt to do this.

Thanks in advance for any insight to why this may be happening.

The furniture item cap is a lie

$

Time and time again we have heard that the item cap is there because ZOS simply cannot offer us more item slots due to "performance reasons". From how ZOS, and some apologetic players, make it sound like, the entire game would implode into a black hole the moment we pass the magical 700 item limit.

Well, preparing for decorating my Observatory home, I put about 500 items in a small, closed space to get an overview of my items. This is how it looked:

i5BvgsY.jpg

About 500 items, big and small, most of them animated or casting light sources. Now, I'm playing on an older laptop, and while I did notice a decrease in fps when in this room with all the items, it was still very playable and nowhere near threatening to the existance of this place or another. I had visitors over, and they also said they had a slight decrease in fps, but nothing very noticable.
If I can fit 500 animated and light casting items in a tiny space like this, when why in hell's blazes can't I fit more than 700 items in an overblown mansion cositing of several separated zones. The item limit is a lie, there is nothing preventing this.

Also, do notice that the latest DLC upped the limit for "special collectibles" to 100 items, that is, 100 items exceeding the 700 "normal" item limit. These 100 "extra" items can unfortunately only be used for undaunted trophies. So clearly these homes can hold 800 items, zos just decided for us that 100 of these should be spent/wasted on undaunted trophies. If you're not into that, you can't use your 100 slots for anything else, and they're just wasted. The item cap is a lie. Zos could easily increase it, but for reasons unknown, they will not.

High latency at akamai.com

$
0
0
I do have a ticket open with support on this as well
for Elder Scrolls Online (http://www.elderscrollsonline.com)
Question Reference # 180920-003202

akamai.com the bottle neck appears to be at YOUR
network! Some of the information in here may not
be relevant for you akamai.com but please read
the full email this was also sent in a ticket on
Elder Scrolls Online as well.

Ok so there seems to be a constant latency to the
Elder Scrolls online North America servers.

I am getting a latency a lot of time in excess of
175 ms.

Now so you know I am a trained network admin myself
and I know the issue is NOT on my side here.

I am on a wired connection and on a machine powerful
enough to handle this game.

Intel i7-2500 3.40 Ghz 16 GB of RAM running
Windows 10 Pro (64 bit)

So I know the issue is not here on my side because
I know my network and everything is updated including
my router and please don't tell me to open up ports
I have already tried it. It does not solve the issue.

So I first used Wireshark to find out the IP for
the server which I was on it appears to be
198.20.200.155 which of course comes back to Zenimax
as the owner as expected.

https://whois.arin.net/rest/net/NET-198-20-192-0-1/pft?s=198.20.200.155

So since the latency can be caused anywhere along
a hop that may be congested so I started to do several
traceroutes.

traceroute 198.20.200.155
traceroute to 198.20.200.155 (198.20.200.155), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

well that really isn't good 265 MS just one hop inside of akamai's network
so it hits the routers on the border and the times are great at about 48 ms

Now where ever that piece of equipment is, is severely congested and that appears
to be where the latency issue is coming from.

The stars don't bother me at all because I know that you can setup a piece of
equipment to not answer ICMP requests which is more than likely what
akamai.com is doing since they are an anti-ddos type service.

But what does bother me is the huge jump in the latency time once it gets past
border switches on akamai.com it takes a huge jump from 48 ms to 265 ms
at IP 209.200.184.205 and as I said it is constant I did multiple traceroutes
and it seems like it bottlenecks in the same place every time.

Akamai is a anti-ddos service and I understand why they use them but
thier equipment should be able to handle the load the game servers
will put on it and it appears that it isn't right now.

Now this was done on September 20 2018 at about 4:00 PM MST (GMT-0700)

Come on can some one at the support please get in contact with akamai.com
and have them resolve this issue please.

Looks like I am not the only one this is just one example of many that
you can find about a high latency.

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/435522/disconnections-rubber-banding-high-latency-spikes-and-my-tech-support-ticket-180910-002528

Also I have tried disabling any security software I have which is
Kaspersky 18.0.0.405(i) and that does NOT fix the issue the issue
clearly is NOT on my end at all and this isn't a connection
issue here on my side.

I will also email this to the Network Operations Center ("NOC") at
akamai.com to see if they can take a look into the issue.

Oh so a bit of an update at the request of Akamai.com they wanted me to do a tracetcp which I did
on September 21 2018 about 11:50 AM MST (GMT-0700)

Now you can see at hop 8 everything is great which again is the boarder of their
network at akamai.com but once again once it hits the 2nd hop inside of akamai.com
it only answers once and is at 259 ms.

On hop 8 again it is about 48 - 49 MS which is great and then on hop 9
once again it jumps up to 259 ms.

Again this issue is definately inside of akamai.com's network but these guys are idiots
at akamai.com and claim they won't do anything unless one of their customers complain
about the issue. Which would have to be Zenimax.

These guys are complete idiots at akamai.com I have a ticket open with them
as well AKAM-NOCC #B-P-2HW3BOR

If you are getting the same problem be sure to email
nocc-tix -[at]- akamai.com, nocc-shift -[at]- akamai.com, noc -[at]- akamai.com,
support -[at]- akamai.com

Can some one from Zenimax please complain to them about this issue and get this
fixed the people at akamai.com have no clue how to properly run their network and
the bottle neck clearly is within their network but they refuse to do anything because
I am not their direct "customer".

I hate idiot companies like this I have as much or more training in the computer field
that than that idiot that answered the ticket.

The worst mount in the game?

Do ZOS really care about ESO?

$

I have really been seeing a lot of people on the forum mention that they believe they don't think ZOS cares anymore about the game, and just look to make their money tempting players to sub and stay sub with trinkets and treats for as long as possible, that coupled with crown store sales. (Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but one would hope they also focus on fixing problems for their customers as well) And to be honest I've recently become one of those people, I still love the game, the lore is fantastic, the world looks great. But there is a rotten hidden core of problems that never ever seem to be addressed or fixed.

Problems such as crippling lag in pvp, desperately antiquated search functions in the traders which frankly just don't work very much at all. Random disconnects to the login screen which can only be fixed by closing the game and logging in again. Large botter activity which seems to go on un punished forever despite huge volumes of reports on the same perpetrator. Just to name a few.

I just wanted to get a clearer idea of what people think because forums often can show the negative side of the situation more since the forums is where people tend to complain the most instead of voicing their satisfaction.

Zos Balancing Has Failed

$
0
0
Im a pissed off magsorc, which means to the majority of you this thread is a joke because everyone hates magsorc. To those ppl I trust you know how to close a tab....

This games balance is a blatant failure. Name literally 1 other mmo where there is only one viable mag based dps class. Hell, really nightblade is the only viable dps for endgame at all, mag or stam. Instead of getting better, were getting worse. We have more classes capable of healing or tanking than endgame dps. Magsorcs now an endgame healer with dps being a joke when a year ago sorc healers were a joke and dps was in a good spot. pvp isnt any better with magsorc again being a less effective magblade. Before murkimire, before the last year, there were reasons to be a magsorc. There were reasons to play as one. Little by little zos took away all of those things. Zos took away overload, an entire playstyle gone. zos nerfed shields, which was a trade off for the lower dps in pvp for more survivability, now we have the same shield strength as a magblade, while they have heals and cloak but lets not forget sorcs can still stack our 8k critable joke shields. Had a 0 sustained dps pvp rotation that worked because of the stun from frag, zos took away the stun, then nerfed the replacement for that stun. We had off balance, great reason tohave more than 1 sorc in a trial, but off balance got nerfed now you only need one. Dont thing the minor prophecy makes up for it because the same sorc providing the off balance is providing the minor prophecy and hell if we kick the sorc to the second healer spot they can do all that and we can have a magblade take there spot and the sorc can just buff people. Had pets that could take agro but thats gone and there goes the reason to ever pick sorc over magblade for solo content especially when the only challenging solo content is vma and pets new fancy immortality doesnt apply there.

Meanwhile you have unkillable tanks in pvp, light and medium armor being a joke but hey only mag gets screwed on that because stam can wear heavy. Snipes from stealth, stunning and 2 shotting players before you factor in the bug thats been around for like half a yr.
