crafting needs a makeover

$
0
0
I've been playing since launch and always focused on crafting with my main, but it's gotten to the point now where nearly every crafted set is completely out shined by dropped sets. It seems like the only purpose for crafting anymore is to level new characters.

The amount of time and effort a crafter has to put into leveling a crafting skill, researching 9 traits on each item, gathering rare materials and style motifs... you'd think all of that would be enough to at least have gear sets on par with what drops throughout zones in the game.

I have a few suggestions in how to solve this:

1. Allow crafters to modify the trait, level, and style of world dropped items. You should be able to alter that dropped set with an orc theme into any other motif you know, and you should be able to improve it to higher levels by adding level appropriate materials.

2. Allow crafters to repair weapons and armor with crafting materials. This has been on my "crap that bugs the hell out of me" list since launch. Why can that wandering merchant or chef repair my plate armor, but I as a master blacksmith cannot?

3. Implement a system wherein using the set crafting locations throughout the game not only allows you to create that set, but any of the sets that drop within that zone. Nearly all dropped sets should be craftable.

Azura's Star NA PC Thread

Azura's Star is the non champion point campaign for all factions. I recall when it first came out and how people avoided it because of the "I have worked to get my champion points why shouldn't I get to use them" argument. While I will admit that champion points are hard earned and certainly give your character more staying power and more firepower I will contend that, in my opinion, using Champion Points is not a positive reflection of how PvP in TESO was originally designed. I have over 540 champion levels and am not at a disadvantage in any of the CP based campaigns. Most of my guild mates are also over the 501 threshold.

However, Einherjar (a multi gaming community of friends that has been playing MMOs together for over 14 years now - yes 14 years now), has found that the Non Champion point Cyrodil is more akin to the original PvP in TESO we all fell in love with. It's not for everyone. The 1vX crowd will not find this server to their liking. However, it is a place to find unreal group V group combat and to enjoy group based activities. Groups as small as 5 can be extremely combat effective and can earn loads of AP on Azura's Star.

All of this being said - when Einherjar first got lured to Azura's Star - by our good friend Mrs. Jones (many of you know him hate him or love him he is a friend to EHJ) we found a completely yellow dominated server with a massive presence of Aldmeri Dominion soldiers. We had found a place to fight numbers far greater than ourselves and to hone our combat skills in this new environment that really does require awesome co-ordination and group synergy to be successful. Especially against larger numbers as your resource pools are lower - and your regen rates are much lower. We fought and fought - and eventually wore down the AD zerg. We pushed them to their gates and owned the server - coming back from an 8 thousand point deficit and winning the campaign on our DC characters. Through all this it was essentially a 2 faction campaign. My guild, another small DC guild and a bunch of DC newer players versus a horde of Aldmeri Dominion that sometimes numbered 50-60 strong. Ebonheart had essentially zero presence and to this day has limited participation in the campaign gaining the low pop bonus here.

So my guild decided that it would be a good idea to make a real effort at creating a balanced campaign. One that is fun for all factions. We hail back to the days of Wabbajack and other large campaigns as well as some of the smaller campaigns that were competitive and fun for everyone. We really want that to be the case on Azura's Star. We rolled Ebonheart Characters and with the recent change to leveling found the process fairly simple. We spent our first night on Azura's last night - most of us with key abilities not leveled up and missing core abilities gained from Alliance Ranks and Mages / Fighters / Undaunted guild levels. We did fairly well reaping 250K AP in about 3 hours of play time never going above 12 people in our group.

To that end: We are looking for a strong - but not essentially huge - DC guild to come and fight us and the AD on the server. We are looking for any Ebonheart players looking for a new home to have fun and compete in PvP the way I believe the game was meant to be played to come and join us on Azura's Star. We want a 3 way fun and competitive campaign - but we cannot do that without more players from DC and more players from EP. I am not talking about turning the campaign into the next mega zerg server. The lag free environment is one we enjoy and want to stay that way. However, it cannot be a fun three way battle without more willing combatants from EP and DC.

I am found quite easily in game if you want to ask me any questions about the differences between the non CP and the CP camps. I have spent loads of time in all of them. I am happy to share experience and tips about how to setup / gear your toons. We want good fights - respectable fights - fun tells between frenemies. We want YOU to come and help us bring a balanced and fun campaign option to Azura's!!

See you all out there.

Stam DK build idea

Hey all. So, I've been trying to think of some different ideas for a stam DK pvp build and I had one in mind. I'm not even sure it would work, but here it goes.

2 X Selene's (I know it doesn't crit anymore but it would still help with burst damage)
5 X Dreugh King Slayer
5 X Hunding's Rage

Weapon bars would be dual wield and sword and board.

On the sword and board bar I was thinking: Shielded Assault, Heroic Slash, Reverberating Bash, Igneous Shield, Resolving Vigor, and Spell Wall.
As for the dual wield bar: Noxious Breath, Blood Craze, Venomous Claw, Bloodthirst, Volatile Armor, and Dawnbreaker of Smiting.

Dreugh King is used for the major brutality buff in place of Rally not being used. Hunding's is there purely for weapon damage. Selene is for burst damage. The basic premise is to gap close with Shielded Assault, apply dots and fracture with Venomous Claw and Noxious Breath, then apply Blood Craze for more DoT and heal and spam Bloodthirst while weaving light attacks to heal, deal damage, and build Ult.

Anyways, that's the idea.

Master Craftin Writs a Joke?

I have max'd crafters in all crafts. In the last six days I have done dailies in alll of them. So after doing 36 dailes (6 days x 6 crafts) I have received and completed only one Master Writ quest (Alchemy) and received 2 writs. in order to buy one crafting station for my house it will cost 250 writs. Something is badly out of whack with this system IMHO. I don't intend to waste any more raw materials on this futility.

Master Writs. Am I missing something?

$

After the Homestead patch I did top level writs every day on 5 of my toons. That means total of 240 writs if I did the math correctly. One of my toons is a master crafter - knows almost all motifs (except Ra Gada, Yokudan and Hist ones) and knows all traits, etc. Other toons know some motifs and some traits (on average 5 - 6 traits researched), know all flowers and all runes. From those 240 writs I got 3, maybe 4 Master Writs (totaling 32 vauchers). My master crafter is yet to see a Master Writ drop. Am I missing something or is this just a case of extremely sucky RNG?

Update: did some additional research on this topic (source: http://bit.ly/2lf4Bkn).

Specifics on MW drops:

* Alchemy – Looks at how many reagents from which you’ve completely learned all effects. - know them all, no drop
* Enchanting – Looks at the total overall rune word translations you’ve completed on that character. - know them all, no drop
* Provisioning – Looks at your collection of known purple and gold recipes. - know about 98% of all recipes (all gold and purple), no drop
* Blacksmithing, Clothier, and Woodworking – Looks at your overall motif knowledge excluding Crown-exclusive motifs and the 9 base player races. It focuses on motifs that take some effort to learn – like Xivkyn, or Minotaur, or Celestial. It also looks at you overall completion of trait research. - know all motifs (except 4 new ones and Akaviri), all traits researched. no drop

What am I missing or is my RNG really that bad?

Stripping CPs from ALL Campaigns?!!!!!

This just hit the rumor mill. I need some confirmation if this is true. The idea that CPs are causing all the lag in Hade and TF doesn't sound very logical to me. Could someone explain this that knows something about it? It seems to me much more logical that signals from all the gamers going into a system that can't handle the traffic to be much, much more likely. Then let's say the over abundance of players in a given area is multiplied by magnitude of animation canceling (would that then send 2 or more signals into a system already taxed?), then add to that the inevitable macro'er that sends more than 5 signals to the server in less than a tenth of a second ... This sounds much more logical to me as being the reason for the insane lag on TF. Hade has fewer players so less lag until the zergs arrive.

That being said, if ZOS has this as a test in coming weeks, I think someone might have spiked their water bottles with stupid pills.

I'm running out of space to put the sets I collect in dungeons, each set in the game does have some utility for some parts of the game, obviously end-game content demands or requires some specific gear setup and builds, but I want the option to save gear and use it for other parts of the game.

Cyrodiil Performance Test and Double AP Event

$

Hey gang!

As you saw in Matt’s 2017 roadmap, we are making Cyrodiil performance evaluation and fixing a priority this year. We want to make sure that Cyrodiil is a great PvP experience for everyone. Over the last year, we’ve made some good strides towards refining server performance across all campaigns, and we will continue down that path.

When looking into Cyrodiil issues, we definitely see (both in-game and through monitoring) situations where client and server performance degrade significantly when under high load. The small incremental changes we’ve made over the last year have helped, but they alone are not enough. So, we’re going to change our strategy a bit – which is the point of this post.

Simply put, Azura’s Star (the non-Champion Point campaign) runs much better, more efficiently, and is overall a much better PvP experience than the standard campaigns such as Trueflame or Haderus. Now that we’ve had a significant population density in Azura’s Star, we strongly suspect what has been theorized for a long time: Champion Rank passives and abilities are causing too much server load, especially in situations like Keep battles where there are tons of players in one place.

Because of this, we are going to run a series of PvP performance tests, and because it is impossible to simulate PvP load on our internal test servers (or on PTS), we will do this on all live servers on the dates of February 27 – March 6. This is not something we take lightly, and it is important that we evaluate performance when the server is under real-world load situations.

Our first test will be set up as follows:
  • For a period of one week, all Champion Points will be disabled on all Campaigns on all platforms and megaservers
  • During this time, AP gains in all Campaigns will be doubled, both to compensate for lack of CP and also to incentivize players to PvP so we can record as much data as possible
  • Campaign durations and leaderboards will not be adjusted during this week
We encourage all players to continue their PvP activities in their respective Home, Guest, and Friends campaigns – we will be taking feedback and monitoring data on a daily basis during this test, and look forward to reading your constructive posts about server performance during the time of the test.

The results of this test will determine the next course of action for refining Cyrodiil server performance. Thank you for your perseverance and patience – we thoroughly appreciate your time, efforts, and feedback!

Thanks again, and see you in Cyrodiil!

Thieves Guild Anniversary Coming Up - Anything Planned?

$

I'm aware that the anniversary of the PC release of the Thieves Guild DLC is coming up (March 7th to be exact). I am wondering if ZoS has anything planned to celebrate the release, as there has been nothing on it yet. Will there be a double loot/node drop like with Orsinium? Will Maw of Lorkhaj also get a double loot drop?

PS: For anyone who doesn't know, the Maw of Lorkhaj trial is apart of the Thieves Guild DLC.

Questions about near future plans for Homestead

$

Okay so I absolutely cannot use any of the homes with less than a 24 player cap limit. 24 is actually the SMALLEST cap I can work with. Are there any plans to improve the player caps in March?

Is there a reason we can only have our Primary Residence set so that people can visit it when we are offline? I would LITERALLY purchase multiple homes IF I could leave them ALL accessible to my friends and guildmates 24/7. Some of us would love to open roleplay taverns and other businesses and gathering spots where players could come at any time but doing so means we have to sacrifice using a house as a guild hall or personal residence we allow our friends to use. I realize this decision to only enable one house as 24/7 access to others may have been made to encourage people to buy their own houses rather than using those of friends but it's actually counterproductive. More people would be inclined to purchase multiple houses IF they could use them the way they want to. This, by the way, also goes for the player cap. So, is it possible this will change and homeowners can set more than one residence as 24/7 access to other players?

I was very disappointed to see that neither of the Crown Only Purchase homes were made available when Homestead was implemented. Will these become available in March?

Will there be any NEW homes that are not currently available (in addition to the two above) in March?

If yes, will they be 24 player cap homes? These are the two most important questions to me as I will not purchase any of the currently available Notable (24 player cap) homes as they do not suit my purposes.

Are there plans to offer a Notable Home (24 player cap) for each race?

If yes, what is the tentative rollout schedule for these homes?

Homestead has a lot of potential but we really need more information and a more flexible system!

@ZOS_GinaBruno can you possibly answer any of these questions? Or at least tell us when more information on the future of Homestead is going to become available? Pretty please?

Ps4 Dye Station bluring out of focus

Can anyone explain why this happens and if there is a fix to it?

Just some filler information before anyone starts to say it's on my end for my T.V.

It's not my t.v I got the tv the same time I bought my ps4 with ESO almost 2 years ago now. The dye station issue has been ongoing ever since Dark brotherhood launched and I assumed it would be fixed eventually but have not heard anything other than an odd statement here and there saying the same annoyance I'm getting.

It's a sony screen 42 inch, with HDMI cord hooked up as well. All the settings have stayed exactly the same. I tried adjusting the screen brightness and corner sizes and without fail whenever I go to a dye station it always blurs out of focus 1-2 seconds after I access the station.

Once again I'll reiterate just to clear any misinterpretation, this blur out of focus ONLY occurs whenever I try to use the dye station. At no other point whatsoever ingame do I get this phenomenon at all. The rest of the game performs as per usual.

How many threads do we need to make about VMA drops for ZOS to listen???

The RNG is horrible, it is not fun to go all the way just to get a rigged RNG useless weapon. Why are they doing this? everyone seems to hate it and it is not fun in any way to run VMA hundreds of times and still not get the weapon you need.

Leader boards is still there for people to keep coming back to VMA, but forcing people to keep coming to VMA because of horrible RNG is very cheap.

Listen to your freaking customers ZOS, many people quit because of crappy VMA rng and personally I am not far off from that.

Crescent Sweep. The wrong change, a Magplar NERF

$
0
0
I'm here to know your opinon about the change of the crescent sweep ultimate. With this change (magical to physical damage) the magplar do not have any low cost and brust damage ultimate ability while the samplar has 3 now: crescent sweep, dawnbreaker and berserker strike, all these ults have relatively low cost and a high damage. But now the magplar has nothing for duels or small fights: Metor (high cost and real easy to block); empowering sweep (low damage); destro ult (extremely high cost and magplar usually use dual wield). So for all thi facts, in my opinion, this change was a mistake! Dawnbreaker and Berserker strike are enough!
