In Cyrodiil in particular (but I've also seen it outside the pvp zone), small ledges cannot be walked across anymore. To get over these ledges, you must jump. @ZOS_GinaBruno

PvP in Vivec is working AWESOME: Behold the age of siege

My eyeballs hurt.
I played it until my fingers bled.
I stayed up too late and shirked my chores.
Khajiit thinks he has the carpal tunnel in his left hand, and today he may do it all again.

I set up a few oils, maybe 7. I never got around to any of the other flingy thingies in the game but I did notice that it is VERY BAD to stand in red.
So, Khajiit burned lots of nasty siege weapons to ashes and moved his position often. This one hates icky oil in his fur and rocks hitting his head!

Duh

I PvP'd at least 12 hours yesterday, here are some things I thought of while I was lying around dead

Hard points are HARD. Please be careful! Lolz.
Cold Fire siege of any type will sell well on the open market, drawing PvE types to our Dolmens!
Pugs can defend a keep against a push with just a few veterans mixed in for good measure. Play the map.
Remember Purge? Who bars that old thing anymore. I mean really, why bother? Please, don't bar Purge.

Vivec is a very hot place today.

Mind yer step!

is the "mechanics" model a failure for eso?

Given the high participation in base dungeons and low participation in dlc dungeons i am under the belief that the the ultra twitchy mechanics based gameplay is just not a good fit for the eso playerbase. These kind of mechanics are good for more organized gameplay like trials because there are structures in place to allow the players to effectively learn the strategies. Im not against the trials having these types of mechanics as this is where they belong.

It seems to me that players in this game avoid mechanics like the plague. Mechanics are something that needs to be learned and practiced and while this works in trials there is no support structure for the average player to learn anything from these mechanics. You cant force anyone to participate in guilds they dont like or weird practices like giving your character a disorder to get more dmg so you can complete content by avoiding mechanics (oh the irony!).

I think that eso should abandon trying to make the dungeons like mini trials and focus on other ways to introduce challenges to the content. Believe it or not there is more than one way to do things! Im not saying there should be no mechanics but rather they should be used more sparingly for twitchy ( dodge/block or die) combat in the dungeons. This does not mean that it has to be easy either!

Instead i propose that the mechanics for dungeons be more global in nature. The use of alternative win conditions like even staying alive, beating a timer, defending a small keep , finding something hidden. There are endless ways to make things fun and challenging. They dont even need to make brand new artwork when they want to make a new dungeon. They just need a new scenario and use existing assets. Yes i know some of these things can be done in pvp but theres no reason not to explore them in pve as well. The assets all exist.

Eso is a great game but i think its become bogged down in mechanics based gameplay (not knocking those who like it), and thus the scope of providing interesting group content has been narrowed down to something most players arent really interested in.

its time to admit that this doesnt work and explore alternatives. Its time for something new. Its time for "scenarios".

i also propose that these scenarios all be done through the fighters, thieves , assassin's and mages guilds and the focus of the scenarios be relevant to those guilds ( i.e thieves guild would be focused on a group trying to steal things). This will require that these npc guilds be made into real guilds that players can join with a chat people can use.

this is the 4 man content that players of this game really want. They dont care about your mechanics.

Naryu Virian slider settings for character creation

So I'm a big fan of Naryu Virian, mostly because she is just sexy and badass.
With that out of the way, let's get to the reason for this post.

I wanted to create my own Naryu character and after searching the internet I couldn't find any clear slider instructions for character creation.
So I decided to open a bunch of Naryu screenshots and tried to recreate her face as closely as possible.
I'm pretty happy with the results and wanted to share my slider settings with all of you, since I'm suspecting there are more people that'd like to create their own Naryu Virian.

MagDKs & Nightblades received a damage boost in Wrathstone — [ Vulnerability calculation changes ]

$

Note that the thread title pertains to PvP—the two mentioned classes are not buffed in PvE since NPCs do not use %-based mitigation as part of their defenses (AFAIK; please correct me if I'm wrong).

So a lot of PvP players have reported taking noticeably more damage since Wrathstone landed, and this new bug/feature appears to be one part of the puzzle—vulnerability debuffs are now calculated additively with your %-based mitigation by default.

Background info:
Prior to update 21, vulnerabilities (debuffs that increase your damage taken, eg. minor vulnerability from the Shock elemental status, etc. etc.) were calculated multiplicatively in the damage equation, as per this excerpt from the Damage Mitigation: Explanation thread by @paulsimonps.
VULNERABILITY=Vulnerability #1+Vulnerability #2+Vulnerability #3+etc etc
DAMAGE TAKEN=Base Damage*(1+(Vulnerability #1+Vulnerability #2+Vulnerability #3+etc etc)/100)
where "Base Damage" is the product of your resistance (armour) mitigation & all your sources of %-based mitigation

However, since Wrathstone's launch, vulnerabilities have become additive with your %-based mitigation, via this adjusted partial* formula:
Damage taken = (%-based mitigation + Vulnerabilities)
Where "%-based mitigation" represents the product of all the complements of your %-mitigation sources eg. (1-x)(1-y)(1-z)

* resistances, block, & execute multipliers (on the attacker) are excluded because they are all multiplicative with the above sub-expression, and thus do not influence the proportional damage increase

The consequences of this aren't immediately obvious, so here's an example calculation, comparing pre vs. post-update 21, given the following target stats (quite standard for a CP810 toon):
  • Stage 4 vamp (+25% fire damage vulnerability)
  • 66 pts Ironclad (22 %-based mitigation)
  • 37 pts Elemental Defender (9 %-based mitigation)
  • Minor protection (8 %-based mitigation)
OLD:
Damage taken = [(0.78) * (0.91) * (0.92)] * 1.25
Damage taken = (0.653016) * 1.25
Damage taken = 0.81627

NEW:
Damage taken = [(0.78) * (0.91) * (0.92)] + 0.25
Damage taken = (0.653016) + 0.25
Damage taken = 0.903016

Proportional damage increase = (0.903016 / 0.81627) - 1
Proportional damage increase = 0.1062712092812427260587795704853
Proportional damage increase = 10.6% (1 decimal place)

From the above workings we can see that fire damage dealt to our hypothetical target, post-Wrathstone, increased by a whopping 10.6%, without any changes whatsoever to the stats of attacker or target. The magnitude of this increase correlates with the amount of %-based mitigation the target stacks, as the Vulnerabilities term (a flat value) grows larger in proportion, relative to the shrinking value of the %-damage taken by the target.

As referenced in the title, this change primarily benefits two classes:
  1. MagDKs: Nearly all their damage output applies to the +10% fire vulnerability debuff from Engulfing Flames—which is boosted by this mechanic—AND this stacks with the Vampire fire vulnerability
  2. Nightblades: The "20% increased damage taken" debuff of Incap/Soulharvest is classified as a vulnerability, thus all follow-up damage is boosted by this change

Minor Vulnerability also benefits, to a lesser extent due to its smaller 8% value. Arguably favours Magsorcs—though any class can readily access it via shock glyphs or poisons. Also note that Dawnbreaker and other Fighters Guild skills do not benefit, as the "Skilled Tracker" passive is factored as a multiplicative bonus to the attacker, not a vulnerability on the target.

Murkmire Quest Broken

Hello! I'm currently having trouble with the quest Death and Dreaming in Murkmire (potential spoilers ahead!).

I've completed the solo instance and returned to the Dreaming Nest to face the big twist in the story. According to various wiki pages my next quest objective should be to talk to Xukas (who I think should be in here with me but isn't), but the game simply keeps directing me to defeat the Ayleid forces - which I've already done and therefore can't do again. I'm stuck in the dream wallow state in the Dreaming Nest and can't go anywhere or do anything. This occurred for the first time yesterday and I quit the game, deciding to leave it and check back again today to see if it would reset and fix itself. It did indeed reset but the exact same thing happened when I replayed the quest. Not really sure what to do from here or if anyone else has experienced this!

Mag DK VMA

I was on my way to flawless on my magDK about six months ago but ended up moving to other games because the constant nerfs and bugs took its toll. So I'm back, for now, and eased myself into the game.

VMA was a shock to the system to say the least. That nerf to harness magicka really hurts. But I persevered and after four hours and copious deaths, I got to the final boss. Then I abandoned the quest and started over. I tried changing skills, mundus and gear just to see what was working. I left it at round seven the second time.

So, I used different combinations of burning spellweave, julianos and mother's sorrow. Double destro staff. I already have all the maelstrom staffs because I was just plain lucky, but opted for two 5 piece setups with skoria. I remember spinners being a good set too.

I guess I'm just looking for tips on how to stay alive while dealing decent damage. I know it's only been six months but it feels like I'm starting over. I'm also having serious issues with weapon swapping not triggering. Sustain is unbelievably awful.

Anyways, that's my rant. I know it's a bit all over the place but that's VMA for ya.

Text. Yes, text. Signs, messages, inscriptions? They're here...

Permanently Unlock Craft Bag Idea

$

I've brought this up with my friends who play, many of whom are big time crafters, and we all agree that the thing crafters miss the most out of ESO Plus is the infinite storage of the craft bag. I brought up the idea of, what if they allowed us to purchase a permanent unlock for the craft bag, but set the price up very high? I would gladly buy up to like 200 dollars worth of crowns to permanently unlock the bag for the times when I'm just not able to fit a plus subscription into my monthly budget. It'd be the perfect thing to advertise around Christmas Bonus season. What do y'all think?

Nightblade Still Over Performing

I'm not sure why nightblade class in general has not recieved a proper nerft. I play for pvp and pve, and I can say that this class does not compare to other classes in any way ahape or form, no matter what race you choose to play with. In PVP, I killed numerous people just by crit incap ulti, and manage to kill lots of 50k+ hp player in 4-5hits, with great sustain and surviavbility. Almost never run out of magicka/ stamina for both pvp & pve, and when about to die, just cloak ouy my way in pvp. Alway has problems sustaining on both my dragonknight and sorcerer. Currently when I play BG, 50% of the players are NB, 50% other classes. It's simply not right to equip a class with high dmg abilities/buffs/debuff/crowd control, for such a low cost. Suprise attack is spamble and high dmg and still gives major fracture. Veild blade make you moove 25% faster in cloak to run away, cheap minor beserk with high dmg bonus and either snare or minor endurance. Stun from fear and minor maim, also minor mai from ghosts, cheap major facture and breach for ganking from mark cheap ulti for stun/ulti regen/major defiler. Or a bit costy ulti for massive heal and major vitality/ high dmg and stun. Also, there is the unreasonable 10% crit dmg, like it was not doing high dmg already. This class should be reworked for nerfs big time. If I missed something and made a mistake, please let me know

Suggestion - No CP Trials

$

I think adding a new mode for trials where, like no- CP PvP campaigns, Champion Points are disabled.
I believe this would be a good way to increase the difficulty of older content, making old trials feel like a challenge again. And fights like The Serpent on HM would be an actual challenge and not just a stack and burn.

This would add a new paradigm to each fight making groups have to progress through the old trials again and develop new methods to tackle each fight, for example, the current Rakkhat methods wouldn't be possible and most groups would have to play through lunar phase, and the backyard mechanics.

If this were introduced I think that there would be a new progression stage to each trial and thus I think that a new set of trial achievements should be added for people to progress towards.

I am aware that not everyone would be able to complete the new trials, especially not on day 1, and that is a good thing. There would always be another stage of progression so people aren't at a point where they have completed all the PvE content in the game.

I also don't think there are any fights currently in the game that would become impossible, group compositions would have to be changed and builds would have to be adjusted for this new content, but that is a good thing. People will need to think about surviving the content rarther than just burning it down as fast as humanly possible.

Also, I don't think there is need for gear to be locked behind this system. It would meerly be a new challenge for people who have already cleared all the other trials.
