[Class Rep] Sorcerer Feedback Thread

The purpose of this thread is to give you a place to post your current top two pain points with the Sorcerer. Our new Class Representatives will be keeping a close eye on this thread, and will utilize it to gather additional feedback for the notes they’re currently compiling for their first meeting with the Dev Team next week. Please be sure and keep your post clear and succinct, and focus more on what is currently frustrating you rather than potential solutions. Thanks!

Should reset timers be changed/standardized?

$

Yes, it's another post concerning daily reset timers

There are 3 concurrent timers going on in ESO right now. For PC-EU:
- 00:00am UTC for the daily login reward reset (there is a countdown in the crown store UI).
- 06:00am UTC for daily quests, including writs, zone dailies, guild dailies, Undaunted pledges, etc.
- Every 20h for certain activities (Akatosh knows why), including horse training, random dungeons/battlegrounds, and some event stuff such as the gold skulls during the Witches Festival event. Of these, the only one that has a countdown timer is horse training (in the character sheet).
[EDIT] As pointed out in the comments below, there are actually more timers involved:
- Fencing limit resets at 3am UTC;
- Trial leaderboards/weekly rewards reset on Sunday evening/Monday morning;
- Daily enlightenment bonus resets at the same time every day, which varies for each player according to when they first but level 50.[/EDIT]

I can understand the daily login rewards resetting at exactly 00:00am, since that makes them coincide with calendar days. But why have a different time for daily quests? If the idea is to have the daily quest reset far away from prime time, why not shift the daily reward reset accordingly for the sake of consistency? Not to mention that every server has players logging in from a number of different time zones, so any particular time will inconvenience someone while being on someone else's sweet spot.

Then there's the 20h reset. I have no words. It's just messy and next to impossible to keep up with unless you log your gaming sessions due to lack of in-game tracking. It causes missed rewards: only able to play a bit later in the day today, and tomorrow you only have the morning free? Say goodbye to tomorrow's reward! The only positive to this system is that you can play it to get rewards more than once a day *on average*, namely by consistently doing whatever action just as the 20h timer is over. But for the majority of players this is inevitably going to clash with your deserved rest, not to mention it forces you to plan your life around the game, which I don't think is healthy at all.

There is also the issue that with timers being all over the place, there is no official information on the subject, as far as I could determine. What there is is a number of threads, which keep being created and sometimes contain wrong or outdated information, and which flood the forums especially around events that rely on said timers.

Given all of the above, my personal opinion is that every single timer should reset at the same time every day, preferably at the same time as the daily login reward, at 00:00am UTC (for PC-EU). As I see it, the pros would include much-needed (and requested by players) consistency, reduced confusion and needless forum threads, and preventing loss of rewards due to inability to play at specific times. The only downside I can think of is that some players who take advantage of the 20h timer to maximize their activities would be down to one per day, but in all honesty the average can't be that far from that. What say you?

Incidentally, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom and @ZOS_GinaBruno if you could pitch in with an official position from ZOS I'd be very interested in knowing it.

Argonians losing their resistance to poison (an open letter)

$

Immediately say, that I agree with max_only in his thread about the wrongness of the fact that the Bosmer lose their stealth passive.

As for the Argonians: despite the fact that the developers did not mention it in the patch-note v4.3.5, from the comparison of the new racial passives of Argonian and Bosmer it is clear that they decided to divide them by the type of resistance (as well as they decided to divide Khajiit and Bosmer by the role in stealth). But just as in the case of the Bosmer/Khajiit, these changes contradict the lore of the elder scrolls. As with the thieving nature of Bosmer, which is described in previous games in the series and in-game books (as noted in the discussion thread about Bosmer), Argonians have always been resistant to both disease and poison. In addition to in-game books and descriptions of past games in the series, Argonian's resistance to poison is claimed in TESO itself (some examples on the screenshots below), and patch v4.3.5 ruins this, which spoils the player's immersion in the world of elder scrolls online.

Quest: Dangerous Webs (Bleakrock Isle side quest). No Comments.
XvodYhE.png

Quest: Bath Time (Eastmarch side quest). Argonian Laughs-at-Danger selling Daril (illegal poisonous Argonian drug) as bath salt. It cannot be safely taken by non-Argonians.
GVpKUoD.jpg
g5ompRy.jpg

Quest: Welcome Home (Dark Brotherhood story-line). Argonian Green-Venom-Tongue, member of the Dark Brotherhood, talks about the natural immunity of Argonians to poison. He also stating he got his name because he drank so much poison, his tongue is permanently stained green.
42ImOTs.jpg
mkJb1H2.jpg

Quest: A Taste for Toxins (Shadowfen, Murkmire Prologue daily quest). Argonian Jee-Lar, agent of Cyrodilic Collections, mentioning about Argonian's resistance to poison in comparison to copper-tongued skinks, which outperform Argonians in this.
5fBfFzj.jpg
RaKBbW4.jpg

However, the situation can easily be remedied by giving to Argonians, in addition to current disease resistance, a little extra resistance to poison and also by giving to Bosmers appropriate little extra resistance to disease. So the desired differentiation of the Bosmer and Argonian will remain, but the lore of the game will not be broken.

In conclusion, I ask the developers not to turn the game lore into a bargaining chip, and not to consider the people, who care about game lore, as collateral damage from rather radical attempts to distinguish races and give the maximum uniqueness to the races by detriment of the game universe. Thank you.

P.S. I am aware that the lore (as well as quests, story, etc.) is not important for many people nowadays, they play like this: youtu.be/lbJ51AJuR7E If these people are reading this - don't bother, move along.

Looking for oceanic time zone group (PS4)(NA)

I’ve been away from the game for over a year now and just getting back into things, but the guild I used to run with no longer play ESO.

So looking for a group to start running mostly dungeons with. Obviously will do any other type of content, but primarily 4 man content.

I’ve been using the group finder and that has been working out ok, but I want to start doing the harder content, PUGS aren’t very forgiving when a lot of mistakes are made (and I don’t really blame them). So it would be nice to get a group together that can LEARN all the mechanics for the content with out the pressure of stuffing up.

So in saying that I don’t care about how much or little experience you have I just want to be able to run the content without the pressure of getting things wrong and actually learning how the mechanics of the game work.

Let me know if you’re interested

$

Sheogorath's Mortals is one of the original PvE guilds on the server. We have 470+ members that help each other with builds, pledges, trials, crafting, and more. We also have a guildhall with plenty of various sized dps dummies and a transmute station.

We accept players of all skill levels. If you've never finished a veteran dungeon, or if you have completed veteran hard mode trials like VMoL and VCR+3, we'll have something for you.

With an active discord full of experienced players from all across the server we can help you with whatever your character build may need including your attribute points, skill sets, champion point allocation, dungeon mechanics, or anything else you may need. Even if it’s PvP help, we're sure to have a player that can assist you.

We run all sorts of trials. From first time training runs, to our core that clears DLC and HM trials, we're bound to have a group for you.

GM is based in NA pacific time zone, and we have officers all across NA time zones as well as New Zealand. We also have high ranking members from all over the globe, so we remain somewhat active at all hours of the day.

We're currently at 5 raid teams, some that run two scheduled raids a week, some with one scheduled run a week.

Team Cheese dlc hm trial progression - running mondays and thursdays 6:00 PM PST (9EST)

New untitled team, dlc hm trial progressions and achievements - Sundays roughly(theyre still deciding) around 6pm PST

Team Wabbajack, weekly trials and dlc runs that are open to some first timers - Fridays 8PM PST(11 pm EST)

Team Stands in Red, trial progression team that just finished crag hms and is moving into dlc trials now - Friday and sunday 4:30 PM PST(7:30 EST)

Booms Basic Training - General training runs, mostly in crags, some vet dlcs, and some normal trial farms - Saturday 6PM PST (9PM EST)

we also schedule impromptu runs several times a week with signups for training, score runs, gear farms, or general plunder/fun runs. outside of all these if you watch our guild chat we have several other random trials that members can join!

If you're looking for real end game progression, without the elitist mentality, no need to look any further. Dont be shy, contact @hamrb or recruiting officer @symbolseka in game for invites and information. Replys here in the forums will be responded to as well, but its much faster to contact me in game with mail.

Only two requirements, 160+cp (if youre close to that number we can work something out) and membership to our discord(mic not required outside of core teams). discord info to be shared when you join the guild

Thanks! Hope to be playing with you all soon!

Note. Remember to send in game mail, not whispers. because we've accidentally missed a few whispers while afk or in content

History of Leaderboads:

The problem with faction lock for the veteran PvP players

$
0
0
Like many of the folks I play with on a daily basis, we have been here since launch. Over the past almost 5 years, many of us have made friends on all 3 factions, especially since One Tamriel. After one has been playing a game for 5 years, fighting the same groups day in and day out, presents little challenge. There are also times of the day or certain days of the week, where the populations in Cyrodiil are grossly imbalanced. So you have players, like myself, who will swap to our other faction toons because we prefer to not be a part of the zerg trains. Example: it's Monday night and EP has a queue of 70+, but I want to play in Cyrodiil. I don't have over an hour to waste sitting in a ridiculous queue, so I choose to gather a few friends from my guilds to play on AD or DC where the queues are shorter or where more balance might be needed. Because honestly, how fun is it to constantly be on the side who is on the larger side of a 30 v 5 fight? Where is the challenge in that? That's not PvP, that's giving the opponent no chance at all.

There has always been a tinfoil hat brigade that is under the assumption that griefing or spying is prevalent, when in fact, it hasn't been a problem in 4 years. The few that do, will find a way to be trolls regardless of the changes ZOS makes. Because the conspiracy theorists shout the loudest, those of us who have friends across all 3 sides, are now forced to choose to essentially retire multiple toons or go to dead campaigns. We no longer have any flexibility to enjoy the game with whomever we like. We no longer have the option to go to the losing side when large groups are mowing over entire maps (which is quite frankly boring and what is truly ruining Cyrodiil). We no longer have the option to play the toons we poured hours of work into without being penalized. We no longer have the option to engage in interesting fights against new opponents.

Faction locking serves no purpose other than to ostracize a large portion of the veteran PvP community. I'm not alone in saying this will probably be the end of my subscription. I know many who have said the same. That's $180/year ZOS will no longer see from me and it will also influence my decision to purchase new content. With no resolution to performance issues in sight, and now this, why would I?

The proposed changes are further evidence that ZOS doesn't actually understand the actual problems with Cyrodiil and just wants to slap a bandaid on it, again, to appease some players, but give the rest of us another reason to jump ship the minute an even slightly better game comes along. Many of us inch closer to that ledge every day we log in.

New Zone Guide broke Imperial City Zone Main Story Quest

$

Sorry if this has been posted already but I couldn’t find it in relation to the new Zone Guide. I already posted this in the bug reports section of the forums and will be submitting a report in game as well but I thought I’d post here to see if anyone had a similar issue and found a work around.

According to the zone guide for the Imperial City Zone Story Quest it says I have not completed the starting quest “City on the Brink” even though I finished the entire quest years ago. This leaves me with a 7 of 8 quests completed. Seems like the new zone guide bugged it.

It says I need to talk to Captain Durida, I’m Coveneant, at the Southern High Rock Gate. When I speak to her her dialogue indicates that I have finished the quest and she says something to the effect of returning to Imperial City again. I also can’t force it by talking to Drake of Blades since she is now in a locked area as a result of finishing the quest chain years ago.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? An additional side effect seems to to be that it shows Imperial City Prison and White Gold Tower as incomplete, meaning they are blacked out, but only when I am looking at the dungeons from inside the Imperial City map even though I also finished those dungeons or the first time years ago. They do show as white from a zoomed out perspective.

Any help would be much appreciated as I am a quest completionist and these kinds of issues haunt me.

ESO Launcher Crashes on Update 9/04/2018

Update 12/2/2018: OP here,

Mainly due to life, but a small part due to the lack of time to fix the issues each patch myself, I've moved on from ESO. I've cancelled my subscription and won't be checking any notifications. I do hope that they fix this issue or find a workaround for the users that still enjoy playing this game.

============================================================================

Was just logged in yesterday and running fine, when the upload initiated the launcher eats up RAM until it crashes. Ran logs and looks like it's erroring out on an application whitelist error. I temporarily disabled firewall and same issue. Deleted depot temporary files and it went to 30% before crashing again.

Here's the partial log, I even tried manually downloading file in link (you can see a partial of it in this and placing it into the depot folders, no luck.

Why No Ability to Directly Swap to Another Character?

$
0
0
Logging out just to go to the character screen to log back in wastes a lot of time. Why can't I just select the other character right away and go directly to whatever needs to be loaded for that character? Go through the loading, but skip the stop to the character screen.

I suspect this might also speed things up if they were in close locations, such as the riding trainer in Alinor, my goto place these days. Though I could live with a full load without the wasted time for the trip to the character list, along with the "oops I got distracted so I now have to log back in completely" time.

Stam dk vs stamplar

I have my stam dk at 33k dps running VO, hundings rage, and selenes for pve and for pvp I’m pretty good running spriggans bloodspawn and veiled Heritence I hit decently hard survive we’ll get kills whatever.

I am leveling a stamplar I like playing as a knight-like character so stam is my thing.

I’m wondering for both pve and pvp the difference in a stamplar gameplay vs a stam dk if you’ve played both which do you have more fun with and whatever else comparing the two.

What is actual drop rate of Maelstrom Inferno Staff?

Hello there.

Just for chill a bit. I've done about 30 runs in vMA last week(honestly on last week i'm only started doing vMA cause i'm playing ~3 months) and wtf s going on...i've got every kind of weapons(most of them 3-4 times) and 0 inferno staffs. Few times i've had 3 restoration staffs in a row, 2 bows in a row, 2 battleaxes in a row...This is just makes me mad. The probability of this is way higher than getting inferno staff? I know that this is game, not the end of the world and etc. But people doing vMA for 2 things - bow/inferno(sometimes lightning) and leaderboards. And farm needed staff such a pain. I've reached more or less comfortable point when i'm doing vMA in ~52 minutes, just mindless 52 minutes, but in the end it's always dissapointment cause of flawless rng that all devs loves as their children. I'm not agains rng in loot when you have up to 12 people who can get what you need and give away or trade it(in most disgusting cases), but not in solo content which is not the fastest and easiest for a lot of people. Why just not did a exchange, in example, 50 weapons on 1 that you needed. Is devs really think that farm vMA half of year or more is fun?

Sorry for my english. And thanks for reading. Mb someone can give an answer on the question in the title.

Ok, worst news I have ever read when I heard that my DK's Wings is being nerfed into uselessness.

As a stamDK, this is literally my number 1 survival tool against ranged spam, which if the devs had even spent one minute in a BG, would know the game is saturated with.

This would make us just as vulnerable as Templars, without any of the utility.

I really don't understand how having a survival tool for stamDK is such a bad idea. Did I kill too many devs running tryhard magblade builds in BGs?

Honestly, Wardens have ice shield, NBs can teleport out or stealth out. Now I'll just be a sitting duck.

How about making the reflect morph a stamina morph? That way it can't be spammed by magDK, which I assume where the problem lay.

Yours truly,
A salty stamDK

P.S.
Seriously, don't take my Wings, I'll love you forever and ever.
