Question about DK reflection wings (being nerfed) and Templar reflection orb

I'd appreciate if anyone can explain this to me.

I don't know the Templar class, I don't even know the name of that orb Templars put on enemies that reflect ranged attacks and so I ask the experts.

What is the difference between Dragonknights wings (reflection being removed) and that Templar orb that reflect ranged skills?

Wings spawn on the caster, orb spawns on the target.

When I see wings in DKs at distance, I can quickly cancel my ranged attack, or calculate wings 6 seconds and (if not spammed) try to land a ranged attack, and also, if my ranged attack is reflected, I can block or roll dodge it.

With Templars orb instead, it's almost impossible to cancel your ranged attack since orb spawns really fast and over you, and so you get hit (and hard).

I really like to understand why wings are losing reflection but that orb is not if they work practically the same way.

Aren't wings being removed because rangers cannot land attacks on DKs? How can rangers attack Templars then if they use this orb?

Maybe I'm missing something?

Class Balance Or Class Identity?

So how is see ESO there are sort of two camps that are trying to acheive two very different goals. One camp wants class identity, the other wants class balance especially when it comes to damage dealing "pve", but also in support roles such as healers and tanks. So I ask, if you can choose one or the other, what is more important, equal performance acheived through strong weapon and guild skill lines, or class Identity acheived through strong class skill lines?

The good thing about strong weapon skill lines is that you can balance all classes, at the same time, to be able to complete all content in every role. But this often come at the cost of diverse skill loadouts, we see this with pve healers where only 4-5 class skills are slotted most often. Stamina sorcerer and stamina DK are good examples of weak class skill lines lacking the kit to perform up to par, therefore having to resort to weapon skill lines, losing their the class identity, it's often said that a stam DK player sometimes will realise half way through the fight that he accidently logged on his stamsorc.

The good things about strong class skill lines is that every class gets to experince a unique playstyle, but we often see a huge balance issue, Night Blade is a good example of a strong class skill line that is fun and unique to play. Warden have a unique class skill line, arguably the most unique before necromancer. But the kit is broken in pvp and incredibly underpowered in pve. Also with class skill lines an attempt to buff one role can have unforseen consequenses elsewhere as every role has acces to the entire kit. Something that is not the case for weapon skill lines.

My modest feedback is written about Sunspire Skin (can't add anything else about trial itself for now).

It is the ugliest and worst skin I've ever seen. Basically, it is The New Life festival skin (which I think is taken from Direfrost Keep, you can see frozen statues there), with orange-colored arms and legs.

First one is The New Life festival skin (aka Direfrost), second - Sunspire (taken from Alkast website).

They are identical.
I fully realize this part of content wouldn't be changed even with enough time to design a new skin from zero.
To complete my feedback with constructive and absolutely fair critique:
  • Sunspire Skin was not designed from scratch and was quickly made of the same textures as The New Life skin.
  • This skin is a reward for completing Sunspire trial in veteran mode, which is insane for a copy-paste skin.
  • Unlike MoL, HoF/AS (basically the same) or CR it is not unique, gives no motivation to complete this trial for a unique and well-looking reward (like vMoL for example).
  • Looking back for recent skins I believe it is correct to say the quality of this kind of reward (skins) has dropped.
TL;DR
Sunspire skin is a lazy-"designed" copy-past The New Life festival skin.

The PvP playerbase has diminished over the years. PvE players sometimes try PvP but they often drop out. I would like to ask what were your biggest problems/challenges that you had to solve when you entered PvP. Please describe them and tell us your solutions.

I hope that this thread will give some insight to ZOS on how to make it easier for PvE players or just new players to enter and actually enjoy PvP.
If it won't then maybe at least it will help some new players with their entry to PvP.

ESO UI API Patch Highlights (V100027)
A summary of important changes to the ESO UI API in this package.

Artifact Weapons
A new objective type, OBJECTIVE_DAEDRIC_WEAPON, has been added. It behaves similarly to a capture-the-flag flag in terms of pick up, carrying, and dropping. However, it also differs in a few ways:
  • The daedric weapon has its own power pool (POWERTYPE_DAEDRIC). Information about the power level can be queried using the same functions for other power types like stamina and magicka.
  • Daedric weapon objectives start out in an unknown objective control state where there is no information available about them and will stay that way until a fixed time after they spawned, or the daedric weapon is picked up.
  • There is an objective for each possible daedric weapon spawn location but most of them will be inactive.
Use EVENT_ACTIVE_DAEDRIC_ARTIFACT_CHANGED and GetActiveDaedricArtifactId to check the active daedric weapon.

Add-On Library Flag
A new directive has been added to the manifest file:
  • ## IsLibrary: true
Add-ons marked as libraries will appear at the bottom of the addon list in their own section. GetAddOnInfo now also returns isLibrary at the end of its returns.

Lua Profiler
The Lua profiler API now records C functions, garbage collection, and user events generated through RecordScriptProfilerUserEvent("text").

Guild Finder
The guild finder system adds a large number of new APIs for creating guild applications, applying to guilds, and reviewing applications. It also adds APIs for querying some information (name, languages, alliance, etc.) about any guild in the game as long as they are openly recruiting. These APIs require first pulling the guild information from the server using RequestGuildFinderAttributesForGuild(guildId). This API will be rate limited so please use it with care. When information is available, EVENT_GUILD_INFO_REQUEST_COMPLETE will be sent with the matching guild id.

To make these new APIs possible guild ids in all APIs have been switched from fake, non-persistent IDs to the actual persistent guild IDs. Additionally, a new link type has been added for guilds (LINK_TYPE_GUILD), which lets you link guild recruitment in chat (GetGuildRecruitmentLink).

Encounter Log
An out of game log file has been added to record combat information. It can be enabled and disabled with the “/encounterlog” command. For information about the types of data that can appear in the log use the “/encounterlog format” command. By default, the encounter log is output in a compact format to minimize file size. However, it can be output in a more human readable format using the “/encounterlog verbose” and “/encounterlog inline” options. The encounter log includes information on all combat events, not just ones involving the player. However, players may choose to prevent their name from appearing in the log using an anonymity setting in the combat options.

Combat Event
EVENT_COMBAT_EVENT now splits damage and healing values into effective and overflow. The overflow amount is a new field that appears after the existing combat event fields.

World Events (Dragons)
Dragons make use of the new world event system. It provides information about the active locations and boss units that are participating in the world event.

  • EVENT_WORLD_EVENTS_INITIALIZED
  • EVENT_WORLD_EVENT_ACTIVATED - worldEventInstanceId.
  • EVENT_WORLD_EVENT_ACTIVE_LOCATION_CHANGED - worldEventInstanceId, oldWorldEventLocationId, newWorldEventLocationId.
  • EVENT_WORLD_EVENT_DEACTIVATED – worldEventInstanceId.
  • EVENT_WORLD_EVENT_UNIT_CHANGED_PIN_TYPE - worldEventInstanceId, unitTag, oldPinType, newPinType.
  • EVENT_WORLD_EVENT_UNIT_CREATED - worldEventInstanceId, unitTag.
  • EVENT_WORLD_EVENT_UNIT_DESTROYED.

Functions:
  • GetNextWorldEventInstanceId(lastWorldEventInstanceId) – nextWorldEventInstanceId.
  • GetWorldEventId(worldEventInstanceId) – worldEventId.
  • GetWorldEventType(worldEventId) – worldEventType.
  • GetNumWorldEventInstanceUnits(worldEventInstanceId) – numUnits.
  • GetWorldEventInstanceUnitTag(worldEventInstanceId, unitIndex) – unitTag.
  • GetWorldEventInstanceUnitPinType(worldEventInstanceId, unitTag) – pinType.

Compass Pins
The way the alpha and scale values of compass pins are specified has changed to make it easier to understand. The new method involves setting close and far distances for each attribute and interpolating between them. For example, setting closeAlphaDistanceM to “1” and farAlphaDistanceM to “100” with closeAlpha set to “1” and farAlpha set to “0.4” will cause the alpha to be 1 from 0-1m, scale down to 0.4 from 1-100m, and be 0.4 from 100m on. Additionally, you can set the max distance the pin exists at using maxDistanceM, which can be a distance in meters or the sentinel value COMPASS_PIN_NO_MAX_DISTANCE.

PreviewTradingHouseSearchResultItemLinkAsFurniture(itemLink, variation) has also been added to allow previewing any item link seen in trading house search results this session.

Rebuttal to “top tier pvpers griefing”

Toxic pver’s, farmers, and housing people all talk down and belittle pvpers when they try to show interest in those things. You don’t just let the new pvpers into your trials, they have to meet a litany of requirements or dps tests and even then... but it’s understandable, because that’s the content. Same can be said for PvP

And now you knowingly enter the domain that is pvp to farm for items to earn a fake outfit. And you want it handed to you, you want it freely, you don’t want to earn it. You don’t want to learn how to survive, to learn how to pvp. You don’t plan to come back. You are just entering this zone to feed an addiction. A zone that has litttle to offer, besides an experience that many of us enjoy. Then you call us “griefers” because you chose to enter our area and don’t want to play the game you entered.

You pvers don’t want to pvp. If you did you wouldn’t pvdoor zerg the map and saturate it so that it’s all one color and one faction pop locked. If you wanted to pvp you wouldn’t attempt to jump off cliffs or towers to prevent a pvper from the killing blow. Climb the tower in crops and attempt to jump off rather than fight to only learn you can’t jump off that tower... lol you never planned to pvp at all...

You don’t have to pvp to get top tier pve gear. PvPers have to pve to get the best pvp gear though and we have to earn it and figure it out. You are coming here for an item you may never even use.

We will take advantage of the opportunity to earn easy ap, to see how many bad pvers it takes to bring us down, and to kill as many as we can with the best kdr we can because we are playing for an experience.

Just like we pvpers don’t get a free ride in your trials, you’ll not get a free ride in our campaigns, where the name of the game is Player vs Player.

The real problem with pvp nowadays is the gradual move away from direct damage based and burst combo play style to ‘fire and forget’ dot builds. This damage style coupled with poisons, over performance of sword and board damage mitigation, severely over performing group heals and laggy servers makes these builds near impossible to kill. I can’t count how many perm block balorgh ulti dump dot builds running poisons and lingering health pots I see every time I play. With buffs to dk and nerfs to nightblade next update I predict the number of these characters will drastically increase forcing nearly everyone in to a similar high health, dot damage ulti dumping Play style. Do I continue to get laughed at by the builds or do i just do the same?

Hey guys!! I'm moving to join the AD for the first time in years to play with my friend and I really want to create a good looking Bosmer. I found one character I really like and used her as reference* but somehow I can't get mine to look even close ahaha (I think it's the face type triangle thing I'm doing wrong or maybe everything is wrong). After a few hours of trying and admitting that I'm pretty bad at CC, I was hoping the community would give it a try! It'd be awesome if anyone could get the look as I really want to be exploring the AD side with her : )

Advice on crafting/ new to ESO and MMO

I’m new to eso and mmo games, but a long time player of Elder Scrolls games. I love the lore and the ability to explore a vast majority of Tamriel. I’m looking for a guild that is welcoming to new players and casual. What I’m most interested in is crafting at this point and getting that one character leveled in all the crafting professions. Just looking for general advice when to start and how to tackle this whole process. I’ve read a lot of guides and they are helpful but also confusing. This could be because I haven’t advanced ver far in the game yet however.

We are an older guild back way back from the game's initial launch looking to rebuild after a few years of inactivity. Our mission is to gain a large group of people who want to have people to talk to, play with, or simply hang out. Whether it will be grouping up for Cyrodiil conquests, Skyshard hunts, or for trials, we aim to help our guild-mates in any activity that may be daunting to them or if they require company to do so.

We are looking for:

- Any players who are mature-minded.
- Those of any race, and alliance.
- People who want meet new people and make friends.
- Those who need help with quests or dungeons .
- People would be willing to help out their fellows.
- Crafters of any skill to help guild mates.

Promotion!
- There will be six ranks that all member have a chance of getting -- Recruit, Raider, Vicecanon, Palatine, Centurion, and Raider Council.

- Recruit: To be promoted all members must have been in the guild for at least 5 days.
- Raider: To be promoted, members must be within the guild for a minimum of two weeks and be active in the guild. This ranks allows access to the guild bank..
- Vicecanon: To be promoted, these members must be active in the guild -- always attending guild events, getting friends to join the guild, donating gold even when not necessary at all, etc. They must also have also been in the guild for at least 1 month.
- Centurion: This rank will now act as the new Vicecannon. To be promoted, members must be active within guild chat, help guild mates whenever possible, and have been a long time member of the guild. ( at least 3 months)
- Palatine: These members will be the most trustworthy, active, helpful and all around good person. They must have also been apart of the guild for 6 months. Additionally, these members will now act as minor overseers -- monitoring the guild chat, making sure guild mates receive help when needed, etc.
- Raider Council: Palatines can only be promoted to the Raider Council if another of the Council nominates them, and receives the general consensus of the leaders. This members will be major overseers and help manage the guild.

Guild Bank Access:
- Items in the bank CANNOT be guaranteed to stay. All members, Raider and up, will have access so I would advise against putting your more valuable items in the bank.
- Any weapons and armor may be withdrawn, deconstructed, and their materials placed back into the guild for everyone to use freely. This is to ensure that there will be ample space in the bank for everyone.
- Please be considerate of your guild mates when withdrawing.

Guild Events:
- There are a total of six events that we do.:
a.) Skyshard Hunts
b.) Dual-Zone World Boss Hunts
c.) Normal Trials
d.) Trivia Night
e.) Lore Book Hunts

NEW: f.) Veteran Dungeon Classes: As the name implies, we will have weekly events to teach the mechanics of veteran dungeons for both Base Game and DLC dungeons. As of right now, this event will occur twice a week.

The selections per week will be discussed by the leaders and officers of the guild who hosts the specific events. However to note, that some events will be scheduled primarily through our discord server, so access to it is highly recommended.


Additional Information:
- We have a PSN community that we would enjoy to bring back to fruition as more members join the guild.

It is highly recommended to join our Discord Server. We manage most of our events, and is easier on us to determine if any of our events will gain any attraction or will need to be canceled due to lack of interest.

Why not simply buff your Light and Heavy Attack damage? It fits with the skill perfectly since the skill is based on performing Light and Heavy Attacks.

It will also solve the issue of the "empty cast" and it will somewhat compensate for the loss of damage due to the loss of Minor Berserk in solo situations.

PS: The heals on this skill need to go however, they are totally pointless, they don't work half of the time and have way too many conditions. Just increase the durationof the base skill to 30 seconds.

Can we buff other classes to where they are competitive with mag sorcs? If you duel in stormhaven or grahtwood you know what i'm talking about. Everybody is a sorc. In vivec most players are sorcs. I've been playing the class a lot recently and I see why. Nothing else compares to it's mobility, burst, or defense. It's a represenation of a class that has everything it needs in it's kit to play high level pvp. Using mag sorc as a model can we bring the other classes up to par. I've gone back to my stam dk and while I have comparable tankiness the shortcomings are glaring now that i've played the other class for a while.
