Haven't played since Thieves Guild..help?

$

So I haven't played the game since Thieves Guild came out some years ago but am now wanting to jump back into the world. Currently, in the middle of the huge install back onto my machine so while I wait I figured I would ask for a little guidance. I would love to check out all the DLC's and content since then but do I need to buy them all separately? or will ESO+ give me everything up to date meaning I should buy that again and see how I like it all?

I do have close to 10k crowns I could spend as well from back when I was an eso member before the game went f2p. Didn't realize the game expanded so much so there is a lot to come back to and a bit lost on how I should go about playing it all..

Thanks!

Hello, my curiosity is about how combat payer works. I know it stack on 6 players, this mean u can have only 6 players with combat prayer or 1 person can use the same skill on 2 groups of 6 players each?
For exemple: 1 healer buff 1st group with 5 player on left side and after 1 sec buff 2nd group of 5 players on right side. In this case both of group have minor berserk at same time?

18+ Heavy RP Guild, NA-PC
Imperial Noble House / Vampire Coven

MdCaoyD.jpg

House Ravnore is outwardly an Imperial noble house, run by a prominent Niben bloodline with ties to the Mages Guild. Secretly, we house a vampire coven that operates entirely behind the scenes, hidden in plain sight. While the house and coven are run by vampires of the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order, all like-minded, civilized vampires—as well as compatible mortals—are welcome within our ranks.

We provide a platform where both vampire and mortal characters can rise to prominence and shine. Our keep is located on the Gold Coast and we are a part of the Imperial RP scene.

Our house is based on scholarly pursuits rather than war. As a group, we are more interested in growing and expanding our knowledge than battling external forces, and as a result of this, our Academy is one of the main focuses of guild RP.

Finally, we are not the right guild for everyone. We seek quality over quantity and are looking for a specific sort of RPer who meshes well with the rest of the guild’s views on RP. Please read over our OOC information carefully before applying!

--- Backstory ---

House Ravnore is a small but old noble house from the Imperial City. It rose to prominence three hundred years ago due to the family’s influence within the Mages Guild and Imperial College. Throughout the years it has remained outwardly modest in holdings, placing more value in political influence in order to bolster the clandestine power of the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order which lurks under the surface.

For the entirety of its existence, the house had been based in the Imperial City. Following the chaos of the soulburst, House Ravnore was forced to flee southwest to Reaper’s March. For two years the house caught its proverbial breath in the March, gradually rebuilding what it had lost in terms of allies and resources.

A victory against a rival house granted the house a small landfall in wealth, which enabled them to relocate to the Gold Coast. After settling in a keep by the Abecean sea, Carcosa, House Ravnore was quick to entrench itself within what remained of Imperial society. The move to the Coast wasn’t without incident; a rash of bad luck beleaguered the house over the years, from betrayals to broken alliances to near financial ruin.

Despite these difficulties, the house has managed to claw its way back into prominence. The threat of failure always seems one disaster away, but the House is now one of the most prominent noble houses on the Gold Coast with a variety of business interests that keep it afloat.

In more recent times, a rival in the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order went to war against the House, resulting in mass loss of life. The war was grueling and brutal, but far more troubling was the fact the former lord of the house won the ire of the elders of the Order, those his rival had managed to bend to his ear. Following his actions in the war, the prior lord was sentenced to a century of torpor with all house assets being transferred to his eldest progeny, Amalthea Ravnore, as Lady Regent.

Yet even in the face of uncertainty and increased, oppressive oversight from the Order, the house carries on. Despite its outward status as a legitimate Niben house, it remains clandestine in the shadows. Every alliance, purchased asset, and underground deal is orchestrated for one purpose: to fuel the influence of the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order and to ensure what remained of House Ravnore could maintain their status within it.

--- OOC Information ---

RP Themes | Our guild’s RP has two sides: the legitimate public face of an Imperial noble house, and the secret machinations of a vampire coven. These two facets are as united or separated as our members wish them to be, with some focusing on one over the other and others maintaining an equal balance between them.

Freeform RP | The bulk of our RP is based around daily/nightly unscripted, freeform RP. This means our members meet up in one of the guild houses and RP whatever they please. One night that might mean an excursion, sparring, or magical study, and another night that may mean socializing or terse political maneuvering. We believe strongly that you get out what you put in, so whatever type of RP you seek in the guild, you are likely to find it if you actively look for it or create it!

Events | We do have frequent events, from DMed plot events to freeform social events such as magical lectures or gatherings, but our emphasis is always on daily RP rather than reliance on events.

Character Sheets | We utilize a detailed, immersive character sheet system. This system is designed from the ground up just for our guild and has been praised even by those who usually don’t like character sheets. While every member of the guild is required to have a sheet, you also aren’t required to use it if rolling and combat events aren’t your thing. But for those who do enjoy sheets, you can expect to find a dynamic system of character perks, progression, and individuality which makes dice rolls feel meaningful rather than purely random.

Academy | We have recently opened an Academy which serves as the publicly accessible heart of our house. With it, we’ve instituted a system of teaching and learning RP which makes it rewarding to RP students and instructors in a variety of topics—schools of magic, combat training, and lectures on virtually any topic imaginable. While participation in the Academy isn’t required to join, it is encouraged!

Character Advancement | We believe character progression—that is, the growth and natural change that occurs when characters form relationships with each other and their skills and motivations progress—is one of the most important parts of RP. As a result, we are always willing to work with you to progress your character in a way that will be enjoyable for everyone involved. We put value on every member of the guild and love to help everyone carve out a niche where their character can flourish.

Lore Focus | Lore is very important to us. While we do use supplemental fanon to fill in the blanks about the day to day lives of vampires and thralls, which are not addressed in lore, we believe in adhering to the game’s canon wherever possible. As a result, we do not allow custom/fanon bloodlines for vampires, since there are already plenty of varied and interesting lore bloodlines to pick from.

Age Limits | We are an 18+ mature guild. Our guild RP commonly contains the darker elements you would expect to find in a vampire guild, from sensuality to violence, though we are story-focused first and foremost. You won’t find torture *** or random sleaze here—just quality, gritty, serious RP.

OOC Culture | We are an OOCly laid back bunch, with most of our members being in the 25+ bracket. If the occasional crass sense of humor will upset you, we aren’t a good fit, but we also take member comfort seriously and have a no drama policy.

Heavy RP | We define heavy RP as a setting where RP takes place on a daily basis (though not all members are required to RP that often). We regularly convene as a guild in certain locations for daily RP, but you are also strongly encouraged to RP wherever and whenever you wish! Every member is expected to help create RP by engaging and collaborating with the rest of the guild.

Setting | The majority of our guild RP takes place in our numerous player houses that comprise our keep and its surrounding grounds. However, the keep’s IC location is on the Gold Coast, and we do frequently make use of it in open world RP such as in Kvatch, Anvil, or the surrounding countryside. For this reason, we strongly recommend you have access to the Dark Brotherhood DLC (which grants access to the Gold Coast), though this is not absolutely required if you’re willing to miss out on the public portions of our RP.

RP Standards | We are strong proponents of the concept of IC actions equaling IC consequences. We believe the most critically important aspect of RP is upholding the line between IC and OOC and ensuring everyone holds each other to the same standards. We feel consequences make RP feel more meaningful, since if there is “risk” to RP, character success and progression feels infinitely more rewarding. If you feel all RP is good RP and there are by default no rules to RP, then we likely are not a good fit. We place quality over quantity in all things.

Participation | We seek members who wish to be a part of an active community. For that reason, we have activity requirements and keep the roster up to date with actively RPing members only. If you can only RP once a month or are in four other heavy RP guilds, we aren’t a good fit.

Races | We recruit all races except for Khajiit and Argonians. The reason we don’t recruit betmer is because of the generally racist attitudes towards them a lot of our characters harbor, which results in an atmosphere that isn’t enjoyable for the betmer.

Discord & Enjin | We make heavy use of our Discord server as well as our active Enjin forum for things such as rumors to be used in RP, event announcements, IC letters, and just socializing. We do not allow voice chat during RP and we don’t have Discord RP channels, preferring RP to be done in game. Use of our site & server are supplemental rather than the focus over the game.

--- Eligible Characters ---

The guild is divided into two main divisions: the Aristocracy and the Academy.

The Aristocracy is run by the nobility of the House. It involves the management of House legalities, as well as staff, research, and security.

The Academy is the heart of the House’s standing in Imperial society and is focused on preserving and distributing knowledge. It is currently taking both students and instructors.

What is important to note is the majority of our internal RP is based around the intrigue, danger, and political maneuvering surrounding a vampire coven hiding in plain sight. For this reason, it is highly recommended your character know our secret sooner rather than later so you don’t miss out on RP.

However, if you wish for your character to join without knowing our secret, it is doable—but must be handled carefully, for our characters would logically kill any perceived threats that were not proven to be more useful alive.

We also accept multiple entry points into the guild story. Some members have elected to take an offscreen NPC IC by saying their character has already been working for the house in the background for years. Others choose to start fresh by showing up on our doorstep. The choice is up to you!

We are big supporters of character progression in RP, but also expect people to be realistic. For example, if your ultimate end goal is to be turned into a vampire but wish to RP out every step along the way, you can—if you are prepared to wait. We are a realism-based guild and important events take time to achieve.

In terms of progression, we are willing to work with you to tell the story you want to tell, if you are willing to be patient. Otherwise, if you will only be happy OOCly until your character has reached a certain point, it might be best to start at that point from the beginning.

With all of that in mind, we are currently recruiting the following types of characters:

-{ Agents of Law | From bailiffs to scribes, the Aristocracy has room for those who seek to become cogs in the wheels that ensure the laws of the house are enforced and maintained—both mortal and vampiric laws.

-{ Archaeologists & Researchers | As a house of scholars, those skilled in retrieving relics from dangerous places or studying them for cataloging will find ample work within our Archive and Reliquary.

-{ Blood Servants | Mortals who willingly give blood to the vampires of the house are always needed. Far from being subjugated, blood servants are a valued and protected part of the house, for without them we could not hide among mortals. Blood servants may either hold this duty as their primary role or have any other position within the house.

-{ Bounty Hunters & Debt Collectors | While we focus on being a legitimate noble house, there are times when we need to twist someone’s arm, collect a debt owed to us, or chase down a runaway. The house is hiring those with minimal scruples who are willing to do unpleasant work for a higher cause.

-{ Clergy | Not only does the house need priests willing to aid in rituals in worship to the House’s patrons, Molag Bal and Clavicus Vile, but we have a fully functioning chapel to the Divines (minus Arkay, who is not welcome) which is always in need of priests.

-{ Guards | A house with so many secrets is always in need of those who would bleed to keep us safe. While we have no standing army or military presence, we are hiring guards who are willing to protect the weaker members of the house and ensure no harm befalls us—or our secret.

-{ Knights & Tribunes | Our order of Holy Templars are vampiric knights of noble heritage who are the embodiment of house law. They enforce the will of the Ravnore family and oversee squires, who wish to one day be knighted themselves, and Tribunes, which are deputies who work under them.

-{ Mages & Scholars | With the house’s public ties to the Mages Guild as well as the opening of our Academy, there is a logical hook for any mage character to seek us out for knowledge or instruction. This is especially true for any young or inexperienced mages who wish to pledge themselves as apprentices.

-{ Monster Hunters | While we are a vampire house, part of how we maintain our place in the shadows is by ensuring we aren't outed by our own kind. Feral vampires in the region are a threat to us in more ways than one, and we are willing to hire monster hunters--provided they don't mind working for the "enemy".

-{ Teachers | House Ravnore has recently fully opened its Academy and is ever in need of qualified teachers. Whether one teaches the art of illusion, the way of the sword, or even the basics of sewing, all who would care to teach their skills for pay should seek employment.

-{ Servants | A coven could not hide long without a staff to fuel the illusion of mortality and normalcy. We are always in need of servants of all kinds. A few potential positions in this field would be personal attendants, cooks, maids, groundskeepers, and crafters.

-{ Students | The Academy is always accepting new students who come to the house to further their own knowledge. All who wish to improve themselves are welcome to come and learn beneath the Ravnore banner.

-{ Thralls | Thralls are mortals bound by blood to a specific vampire, to serve as both a blood source and loyal attendant. Thralls are valued and viewed as trusted mortals. Note that thralls are still expected to have a normal role in the house.

-{ Vampires | We are known among the shadowy underworld of Tamriel as a coven and sanctuary for vampires in service to the Order. While all Imperial vampires are welcome within our house, we also provide a safe haven for any like-minded vampires willing to pledge loyalty and work for the house’s benefit. Keep in mind vampire characters can fill any of the roles above.

Mpty1IJ.jpg

--- Gameplay (PvE & PvP) ---

While we will always put RP first, we also encourage members to play the game itself. Many members PvE and craft or run writs at a minimum, or else grind gold so they can decorate houses for RP—so on and so forth.

This means we welcome members who are interested in playing the game in addition to RPing. If you don’t actually play ESO but would still like to join to RP with us, you’re still welcome to! It’s just that we’ve found long-term member satisfaction is higher if players are interested in the game rather than just logging in to see if there’s RPing and logging off again if there isn’t RP taking place that second.

For that reason, members are encouraged to work on leveling up, gearing, and running endgame content such as dailies, dungeons, and crafting. We are not currently running organized guild PvE nights but are always willing to if there is sufficient interest.

While members are welcome to PvP, we have no plans to do organized PvP as a guild at this time.

--- A Note on Vampire RP ---

There’s no question vampire RP carries a certain stigma among RP communities, and for good reason. All too often, what should be a mature, secretive concept gets tainted by those who would rather play an overt brooding vampire getting in bar fights.

House Ravnore upholds the veil which allows vampires to live undetected among mortal society at all costs. This means there will never be an incident of open, public vampires walking around in mixed company. Every character who joins the guild will be expected to protect our secret at all costs. To show how serious we are about this, we have ICly killed several characters for behaving in a way that put the secrecy of our coven at risk.

We value quality over quantity and are only interested in guilding lore-accurate characters who will navigate the challenges unique to RPing a vampire in a mature way.

Due to just how badly vampire RP can go if mishandled, we are also generally not the best environment for those new to RP and its commonly accepted etiquette regarding godmoding, metagaming, etc. (But don’t be intimidated if you aren’t overly familiar with vampire or ESO lore—we’re always willing to help out!)

does ZOS have an intended target dps?

$
0
0
do they have an opinion or a target about how much dps should a player do? what is, based on what the game provides, a dps that anyone should reach? 10k, 15k?

i ask this because i started to monitor the dps i do in dungeons. I do random pug vet dungeons daily (non-dlc), 4-5 runs, and i look in combat metrics almost after each boss fight (i ignore those unfair, where someone dies or many ads spawn). Dps is low across the board, in 8 out of 10 groups i have an average of 49% group dps (varies between 44%-54%) and i join as healer or tank, meaning i have 3-4 ability slots dedicated to heal or tank. I didn't take into count the cases where i have 70%+ of group dps, because low levels or people that join as dps with 40k hp, or high levels who just light attack.

Sure there are those players that dedicate into numbers and invest time into research to pull crazy numbers. But here i talk about the dps made by the casual player that plays for fun or because it likes how the game works. Don't know numbers but maybe 80% of players can't reach 20k dps in a dungeon group, i picked that value because i have between 25-33k dps with the 49% average group dps i have.

should they raise the floor or lower the ceiling? i know dungeons are not supposed to be rushed through like it's nothing, but i imagine four people of that kind taking up to one hour to finish a dungeon. What suggestion or opinion you have to this?

I want to thank ZOS for adding the ability to decon multiple items at once! This speeds things up and reduces errors of me deconing a level 1 research item I made because I am trying to get through deconning a bunch of things.

More things like this would be wonderful!

Taking gold from members for unnamed "exploit"?

$

0
Yesterday, I received an email from customer support saying that I received some gold connected to an in game exploit and so the game took the gold back. The exploit was unnamed and the amount of money taken from me was negligible. I requested more details and was content to wait to hear back.

Until today. Today I answered a message in guild chat and discovered a dozen very unhappy people in my situation to the tune of tens of millions of gold.

So we need to know. What exploit? And when? Because the email doesn't say and it doesn't tell us how to avoid this mysterious exploit in the future.

Because giving me warm regards doesn't make me feel better about this situation. There are a lot of us who want answers.

So, if you have had this happen to you, post it. Otherwise, would like an official response about this.

Thanks, Sarah

This skill just is just the most ridiculously over performing cc in the game and makes the old rune cage look tame in comparison. In CP pvp there are already enough snares , CC’s and immobilises to have 1 skill that wrap the 2 worst together. there is nothing worse than kiting on a medium armour build to be instantly wiped because of this skill alone. Combined with half a dozen dots even the most incapable player can sit there perm blocking, fossilise then leap or meteor and get easy kills with a 2 button combo.

In non CP most magica builds don’t have the stamina recovery to break the CC, dodge roll the immobilise and then break the next CC (most builds don’t have the barspace to run race against time). For some reason Rune cage was nerfed multiple ways in 1 update but this even better skill persists update to update without change.

Just putting my vote of disappointment in for the Necro

$

Like many others, almost every Necromancer I've met in-game, I'm disappointed that the developers couldn't find a way to make permanent or at least semi-permanent pets work. Tossing exploding floating skulls or summoning a buggy exploding (?) skeleton for 3 seconds every 3 seconds just isn't satisfying or fits what a Necromancer has been in Elder Scroll games. I would've loved having a two-handed ax-wielding zombie or skeleton by my side, cleaving enemies in its wake, that interacted with the corpse system in some way, such as picking up corpses to increase its duration/strength. Give stamina players more class-themed abilities instead of requiring Necromancers to use the same tired bow skills to do vet-viable dps; it's just bad design.

It feels like the developers hid behind the excuse of Necromancy being frowned upon in ES lore, as if NPC townsfolk who are constantly being threatened by daedric forces, or more specifically Molag Baal, in this game are perfectly fine with the idea of scamps, clannfears, and winged twilights running around their towns. To not give Necromancers a pet for "lore" reasons is inconsistent and lame.

The fact that the developers don't have a track record of changing or adding to class skill lines often or at all doesn't really make me want to stick around and see if they listen to feedback regarding this issue. There's a lot of feedback there. Until then, I'll keep fighting the plethora of NPC necromancers that continue to summon skeleton warriors and zombies in the Elswyer questline, and put on a happy face until I let my subscription run out for now.

(Possible spoiler) Coldharbour Hollow City question

I have just completed the Coldharbour zone quests and noticed a few characters missing (aside from the obvious few like the Ayleid Kind, Darian and Hahnin). Nalia and Tzik'nith somehow disappeared after the zone quests are completed. Are they supposed to not stay in the Hollow City after the zone quests are done like the rest of the people I rescued/recruited? Also, I did the Endless war and rescued both the person of choice and the 3 mages. However, besides Juline Ginis and Mim, I cannot seem to find Relmus anywhere within Hollow City... Not even after the zone quests are done... Is it a bug?

For their price, assistants should do more...

5000 crowns is about $50CAD. That is almost the cost of a game. For this price-point, assistants should do everything their city dwelling game world counterparts do.

Specifically repair for the merchant and access guild banks/stores for the banker. I'm also inclined to suggest that for this price-point they should even be usable in Cyrodiil, or at the very least Imperial City/Sewers.

I see nothing "game breaking" about enabling these features for these high cost crown items. So what's holding ZOS back?

What do you think makes WOW so "community-ish" while ESO lacks the feeling?

$
0
0
Don't want to limit the discussion so I decided to not make a poll.

I want to say that I didn't play WOW for that long...I prefer the good graphic ESO provides and the combat controll is friendier. However, WOW always provides a community feeling and their Youtube channels are thirving, while ESO players all seem to keep to themselves.

What makes this happen?

I have several possible reasons, but I also want to hear from you guys.

1.First some personal experience: I kinda have the community feeling up until I decided to get a trader for my guild. I tried and tried to win a bid, but nope the competition is way too hard for a guild that only have friends and no donation/ raffle requirements. Then I took the advice from a successful trader guild leader and start mass expanding, then it just changed. I donno more than half of the ppl from my own guild, the guild member is just a number to me and I worked my ass off to try to get things done, and when rl kicks in, I just felt tired of all that, and stopped trying so hard, and the guild turned to a ghost town.

2.Too much crown? I can imagine the conversation:
"Ohh mate your mount/pet looks so cool! how do you got it?"
WOW: "Thanks I got it from xxxx/ xxxx /xxx several possible way to obtain different mounts and stuff"
ESO: "lol crown crate man"
Granted ESO does not have a forced sub, but still, the amount of items that can be obtained by in-game play are too few and only for high-tier players.

3.Too few community events that are just for fun. We do have some timely events, but those are ALWAYS around grinds. Hey I'm not saying they are not fun, but same thing can get bored when you have to do it several times to get a reward

4.Lack of QoL and inaccessible to the masses. Like housing, currently there is still no functions other than storage (which is only to high level crafters or rich ppl), and the price of house and recipes are not something for new players.

5.Lack of "community" Youtube channels. We only have "gameplay" ESO youtubers and "build" youtubers. No one seem to bother to create videos that are just for telling stories /RP. I donno if it's the cause or the sympton of ESO lacking community feeling, but there's that.

6.Lack of "progressing" stories. We have "Molag-Bal" arc in vanilla and IC, which do not encourge team up since most of main quest are solo instanced. We have "Three-Banner War" arc which is the main scene but have no story whatsoever, maybe except Orsinium. We have "DB & Thieves Guild" arc which have nothing to do with outside world story. And now "Triad" arc is concluded, the stories are great, but honestly, there is no impact on the world (Summerset we don't even get to see Ayrenn again)

How do you feel about this? share your opinions
