I question the direction the game is going.

With the changes in the last two patches I am honestly not sure what the developers are trying to do. Scale breaker had buffs to single target DoTs at the expense of around 30% of AoE DoTs. Then this patch, either due to a lack of foresight or a knee-jerk reaction to the community reception, reduced single target DoTs even more than they were buffed previously. I'm just going to list some examples from the night blade class as that is my most played class. I will list the changes from scale breaker followed by the changes currently on the pts.

Shade: - 9% - 15% (and lost the 20% on the aoe attack)
Twisting path: - 14% - 33%
Wall of Elements: - 33% - 32%
Twin slashes : +37% - 63% (used as a stand in for cripple due to cripple receiving a buff to the initial damage)

As you can see we are now at lower damage than pre scalebreaker with cleave damage in particular taking a huge hit. While this is a good way to lower damage in pve, it was not a goal that we were told. Personally I think they should have taken smaller steps to balance DoTs maybe reducing them by a smaller amount until they find the correct balance. Alternatively, since there was a large outcry in the pvp community, they could have added some DoT resistance to medium armor or introduced a new pvp set that reduces DoT damage. Overall I hope the developers see that they made a mistake and make the necessary changes.

ZOS, you stated class identity was coming for so long and you gave stam sorc a lack luster relentless focus. Not only that but you take away weapon skill stuns. weapon skills are secondary for all of the other spec's but for stam sorc it is the only thing available. streak is not the answer, it's still is shock damage, so the scaling is completely off no matter how much max stat you have as a stam spec.

Playing on the PTS as a stam sorc feels like you forgot to pick a class all while watching other players use useful class stuns and skills.

Dizzying Swing (morph): This morph no longer knocks the target back and stuns them, but instead sets them Off Balance for 7 seconds.

DoTs got hit sooooo hard! This is wack. 62% off twin slashes! That’s it’s only function! It’s now going to do about 10-12k damage over 10 seconds before battle spirit and resists. We’re all gonna be standing around emoting lol. Too early to tell I know but this seems steep.

Hello ESO,

Many know me, but many don’t. Back in the day I ran a lot of community events, tournaments, and helped run Legend. Eventually I took a solid 3 year break (2016-2019). I’d play occasionally here or there, but I was busy working.

What did/do I do? I was a Technical Combat Designer @ EA for a while where I helped balance several units and maintained a 5% w/l rate between the best and worst unit in the game.
^ I stated this to back my knowledge

Now why am I writing this?
Many people are bashing ZOS over these balance changes. While I agree, I do think they’re severe I’ll tell you why you should support them and definitely play the PTS.

Balance is usually done of the following:
  • Feel - The feel of the skill, or the combo
  • Combo/Counterplay - How powerful is the combo, and does it have a counterplay? How common is the counterplay to the combo/meta?
  • Data - Does the data back it up, or not support our investigation results?

Many people are quite angry over the Cycle 1 balance changes on the PTS, but no one is on the PTS heavily to help test and give feedback to the developers, the combat team, and our class reps. This feedback is crucial in the early stages, with few have true evidence to back their claim it gives them little reason to make big changes.

Let me bring up a thing thats largely upsetting for me, and probably you.
  • 63% nerf to all dots across the board.

Everyone is like “This is huge!” And well, you’re right. The change is drastic. But often in balance (PTS) it's usually done in internal testing, ZOS lets theirs public.

Why are the numbers as drastic?
Minimal changes very rarely shift anything, so to see what comes out or what needs real changing to tweak back balancers usually watch the meta develop of the time until they finally develop a finalized patch note ready to be released. In order to continually shift it down you start high, if you don't start high then you have to find whats too much. Now they can scale down.

Why is crucial for us to play PTS?
You can’t back up your claim without large testing. Balance teams are often small and rely on select players to help balance the game based on feedback loops.


Why do they change meta so often?
Honestly, they don’t. I use to change meta monthly sometimes in huge major ways, sometimes I’d just revert back. Meta changes keep the game alive, balance is finicky, combat is finicky. Why? Because it IS the game, any change can churn players. So be patient, help them.

It seems like ZOS is trying to run us away!
No, it is the best interest of ZOS to keep everyone here. The thing is though, they don’t balance based on top tier or lower tier. They balance based on the average player. So for PVE the average DPS (casuals) and for PVP the average zerger (casual). This is to make sure the game is fair for vast majority and not the minority. Why keep 10 happy when you can keep 90 happy?
-Disclaimer, I don’t know if this is what ZOS does, but the majority of games do this.

What can we do?
I cannot stress it enough, as a player you should be playing the PTS if you want to see some changes happen. You should be constantly trying to help them to see more results you want. Developers are always open, while they have their vision, they know sometimes players know more.

Why are the forums blowing up that its bad?
Often times the few are the loudest. So while majority are contempt, the few are not and will raise hell to make sure everyone jumps on their ship. Just sail it out :)



Is ESO doing a bad job?
Not at all, while I sometimes joke, or get vocal about how bad some changes are I always sit down and remember when I use to do this it was the same from players to me. But in the end players adapted and made amazing things come out of the dust!


Remember, be nice to your community manager @ZOS_GinaBruno and be nice to the combat team They have a vision, they have a goal and it's to make the game for fun, more fair, and definitely to keep players playing!

More undead monsters diversity

Game could really use some new Undead monster types.. most of them are Always bloodfiends, skeletons or zombies dont you think? Also we need more ayleid ruins should be populated by undead .. in most of them there Are only bandits or cultists .. that Is a shame really

What do you think happened to central Elsweyr?

can we get a pvp campaign where you cant animation cancel (for dps)?

what better a test ground than that? If its not popular youve lost nothing and if it is very popular you know what to do. You can also test performance this way.

only changed rules required would be light, heavy attacks, bash and barswap on the global timer.

Bug in the last quest of dragonhold (SPOILERS)

Me and several people find ourselves in a pretty bad situation: The character from the end of the last quest just doesn't show up.

Is this on purpose to prevent leaks, or is it a big bug?

There was also another bug: Two identical dragons appeared instead of one, I have a feeling this isn't ... right.

Introducing "spammables" is the focus of Update 24?

In the twitch stream they seemed to talk a lot about spammables -- making Stonefist and Cutting Dive a good spammable, making Dizzying Swing less of a too-good spammable… etcetera.
Is that the direction they are going?
If you are a critical strike build that de-emphasized a big resource pool, how do you feel?
Is draining your resource pool with good spammables their idea of reducing Light Attack weaving because you'd have to Heavy Attack more often to get your resources back?

Eternal servant in vSS HM post-patch (5.2.0)

With all those nerfs to DPS, how are we suppose to kill Eternal Servant on the last boss in vSS HM?

Even now it's super hard for anything else than 3x bow/bow necro (or some variations with necros) to successfully finish the fight. I can't possibly see a way to do it post-patch.

Any ideas?

Game crashing while at Vivec City during "prime time"

I can't use crafting tables/banker/merchant when those spots have more than 10/15 players around.
Yesterday in less than 1 hour my game crashed at least 4 times, with the same error occurring.
I've been sending crashing reports to Sony but I'm not entirely sure if you get those reports from Sony.
Please address these loading issues asap.

Destructive Reach and Master staffs

You nerfed the direct dmg portion of this skill in upd 24 and increased the dot part by a ton. That effectively broke the master staffs synergie with this skill. Now in upd 25 you nerf the dot part by alot, but you did nothing with the direct dmg part, wich keeps the master staff pretty much useless. Any plans to remedy this by changing either the skill itself or the way the master staff augments the skill?
