If the fix for BG queues already exists on PTS. Why not implement it right now?

$

I am writing this while being stuck in another broken BG match that will never fill up to the point that we can start the actual match. The patchnotes said that there is a fix for that being tested. Does it work? If it does, why do we have to wait another 3 weeks (5 weeks on console) for the working fix to arrive? I don't think this is part of the memory storage update etc, so it should be easy to do, right? It can't get more broken than now, right?

DEVELOPER DEEP DIVE – LET’S TALK ABOUT CLASS IDENTITY - feedback from a StamDK

https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/57025

Wow, @ZOS_RobGarrett

What a load of BS.

I mean, I agree with everything you said in that article, and honestly, glad that the dev actually have some sort of focus/ideas on building a class identity. Great!

I wouldn't have guessed it in a million years.

Why?
When our team uses the term "class identity," we're referring to what makes the experience of playing a class feel unique from other classes, regardless of what role the character may be fulfilling. We break down that experience into two primary components: power fantasy and play patterns.

then....

4867cdeb413cf3b64f7d9c67f7ad164f.jpg

so... then.............
Necromancers draw their strength from death magic as they manipulate souls, flesh, and bone. Templars call upon the power of light and the burning sun. Every class should have a clearly defined source of power, and class abilities should reinforce that fantasy through their descriptions, animations, visual effects, and audio. When you see a player using class abilities, you should have little doubt which class they are playing, and it should look awesome!

"The Dragonknight brings flame and fury".

so why do I call it bull ***?

Because I agree with all the above, YET HERE WE ARE WITH POISON DRAGON KNIGHTS, NERFED DOTS AND STONE BLOODY FISTS.

WHAT. WERE. YOU. THINKING?

Was that article posted JUST to calm the angry DK threads posted this past week? But in all reality, NOTHING you develop reflects such values.

Oh my god, that article is such a slap in the face for me, as a StamDK since BETA, BECAUSE it's everything I agree with yet nothing I see in the game.

TLDR; NOTHING in the article is true in the game for a stamDK. NOTHING.

Elder Scrolls books?

I do like my Elder Scrolls lore, but sometimes I feel limited by the already vast library of lore in the games themselves.

Is there a list anywhere of any and all Elder Scrolls books available? Would love to add a few to my collection of novels and other written media covering various game worlds.

Can't stealth due to in combat?

$

I know its a big issue with the in-combat mechanic, and it really needs to be fixed. But here is one that happens to me frequently and I'm sure it does to you all as well. I left a keep where we had fought and won to head to another keep. I waited till the in combat thing went off or supposedly went off and mounted up to go to the next keep. Well when I get there I immediately jump off my mount and try to stealth (I'm a nightblade) and it will not let me. I tell my buddy with me to watch, and I continue to slowly crouch and it shows the eye open that I'm detected. NOBODY IS AROUND! Then I open up my menu to notice that somehow I'm in combat and neither I or my buddy have attacked or saw anyone. Only conclusion that I can come up with is that IN-COMBAT somehow is affecting my stealth. WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG FOR ZOS TO FIX THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rewards for the Worthy QoL Improvement Suggestions

Check mail.. it's full.
Open each mail and get the container, delete and confirm.
Open each container, get random junk.
Inventory gets full.
Decon stuff.
Open more containers.
Get maybe 1 item worth selling or keeping, decon stuff again.

This is a post-PVP chore that's not fun, and with the inflation in AP earnings, RftW mails are the spam of ESO. You get one every few minutes and there's rarely anything actually worthy in it. I suggest making these emails less cumbersome and time consuming, and once again be something to look forward to.

Goals:
  • Reduce the quantity of mails to sift through
  • Maintain the overall value of the rewards
  • Make the items formerly in RftW still easily available

Suggestions:
  1. Put all current RftW mail sets on the town vendors like the old sets are, with the randomized loot tables.
  2. Prune the RftW drop tables to include only impen trait armor pieces, plus the existing random jewelry, weapons and occasional bonus items (keep recall stones and geodes)
  3. Add to the RftW drop tables new bonus items, forward camps and pvp style mats like dawn prism and ancient scale
  4. Send out a RftW mail for every 100k AP instead of 20k AP, and multiply the gold currency x5

Fellow PVPers, do you think the Suggestions reach the stated goals? And do you agree the goals are good in the first place?

Dearly beloved, let us all take a moment to pay our respects and mourn the loss of our oldest and dearest combat skill, Dizzying Swing (once known only as Wrecking Blow).

It will live in our memory as the most fun, adrenaline-pumping, vengeance-sealing, viscerally rewarding skill in the game.

No skill required greater risk to use and difficulty to land; yet no skill offered a greater reward.

The original Wrecking Blow was THE skill that made made me fall in love with ESO combat. It was THE skill that kept me running around Cyrodiil and Imperial City for hours on end, always hunting for the next foe to ragdoll with my mighty swing to quench the thirst of my hammer.

Even through the valleys of nerfs and when it could be bashed, I still loved using it.

But now friends, with the heaviest heart we lay it to rest. It may one day rise again, but the day of the Dragonhold release is the day that I banish it from all my builds.

May the combat gods one day return their blessings to thee, my dearest D-Swing. I thank you for your service and will forever long for a day when I can hear your sweet sweet thump again.

RIP Dizzying Swing (WB) 2013-2019.

Not getting forward camps in Cyrodiil

Hi, in the Alliance war, when we are capturing a resource or keep, on the Right side of the screen it is listed how many XP, AP... I've received and sometimes a Forward Camp listed as well. However I never get the forward camp - for month - so I decided to find out why. Any ides? I think in the past (a year ago or so) I've got those, I had 4, but used p all, so have 0 for some time (however I see those reward listed on my screen, but never goes into my inventory). I'm, (casually) playing 30 days non champion, I'm level 160/CP712, and alliance war rank 28 (Tribune Grade 2). Thanks!

Radical idea

Ok so im probably coming back from half year hiatus.
Today is saturday. There should be plenty of people using group finder. I queued to FG2&CoH2 pledges. I got party for FG2 after 25min waiting. For CoH2 there was low CP fake tank. Got the dungeon done though.

I believe that the decision to use 4-man parties was poor one. There will always be more dmg dealers than tanks and healers. And using 4-man parties creates bigger bottleneck in party creation.

Idea is this: People using group finder receives 50% reduction in outgoing dmg, but increase party size to 6 or even 7. Add 2 or 3 damage dealers.

This would help dmg dealers to get parties faster. This in turn would reduce number of fake tanks.

This might even help server performance if this reduces the number of instances?

Reflective Plate. Why the change should be reverted. Comparison of DK treatment with other classes

$

The whole issue with the wings could be solved with a fatigue cost for those saying that it was shutting down their call of duty moment.

1) It wasn't nerfed like ZOS does with other classes. It was deleted
2)Unique feature turned to a 6s buff. Ty for the animation.
3)"Shutting down Ranged enemies". Really?
4)Was wings part of Meta?
5) Non DK, able players. What have they said?
6) Weird DK changes that are passed on as buffs.
7) I'm I playing a Dragon Knight or a Paladin? Stop it with the DK healer additions.

1) Reflective Plate was totally deleted. It wasn't changed. Eso has way to many abilities that are just timers that improve stats. This ability with its beautiful animation has become just that. Another timer. It was an action, based on observation and though. DKs saw that CC or snipe coming and made the call to turn the tables. And enemies would see them bring out those terrifying wings.

2) Only two more classes have very unique abilities. The one is Nightblade that can use Cloak and Shade. Both of them have suffered nerfs but ZOS never dared to outright delete their function and change them to some buff ability with a timer to improve stats.
a) Imagine if Shade was changed to reduce melee dmg for 6s for 3700 magika. "Oh you casted a shadow and you take less dmg because enemies are confused". How insulting that would be to the old Elder Scrolls hooded bow bearer assassin, master of shadows.
b)Imagine if cloak was deleted completelly and was replaced by the new Dark Cloak that heals.

And then Sorcerer, a class that has access to all the tools available in this game.
a)Magsorc makes the most out of magika shields than any other class. I have said enough about the shields but I will bring back the point that in the course of nerfing these abilities ZOS couldn't dare to outright reduce their effectiveness, much less that simply delete and replace them with another mechanic. They are still here, doing what they used to, no matter if the equations of the coding are different. Still the same ability that helps sorcerers turtle and spam light atks and wait for their timed burst to happen.
b)sorcerers have the best mobility inn the game. Bolt ESC was nerfed, the biggest being the fatique feature. But it wasn't straight out deleted and replaced by some lame generic mechanic.
"oh you casted Bolt ESC. Instead of teleporting, you gain Minor expedition for 6s for the cost of 3700, but we will spare you the fatique. Be thankful

Read this @ZOS_BrianWheeler. Read in 2) how you treated DK and how with this logic you should treat NB and sorc. But then your game would be completelly tasteless. I wonder, as a game developer how could you delete a cool mechanic like Reflective Plate for a 6s buff.

3) "Wings was shutting down ranged opponents" Really? MagDKs and even more stamDKs had unlimited magika to cast all their other abilities including Reflective Plate every second COD. Really?
Let's get serious. Wings was not shutting you down. Good DKs outplayed you with the use of Wings. If only when you saw the Wings flapping and you though, you know what? I can't punch a knife. If the DK is using Wings, I'll just go defensive for the duration, making the DK waste magika and a COD. I can heal, I buff up, I can cast shields, I can place Dots, I can use gap closer and make that poor meele DK come after me.
Wings was shutting down mindless pew pew. And for what? 4 projectiles for a few seconds?
Really? Was wings shutting down ALL ranged opponents? Give me a break and stop nerfing my class....

4) StamDKS didn't had the magika to "shut down ranged opponents". Wings wasn't even slotted in the Meta stamDK that was using SnB/2h 7th Fury BS, spamming LA/Ransack/Bash LA/Ransack/Bash, dots and buffs until Fury was carrying them to the moment they could 1shoot enemies.
As for magDKs, oh boy.... they were awsome once upon a time. You took away inhale from them. The battlegrounds were full of Dragonknight Standards. Nerfed all the passives.
Did you really had to take away Wings from the class before trying to use fatigue mechanic so that they "can't spam Wings" with their 'endless' magika?

5) A lot of petty ppl called on DKs to l2p and adapt. Even since the change I have seen countless non DK players defend Reflective Plate and describe it as a cool feature of ESO PvP. They were saying that they would overcome wing spamming DKs and outplay them. Lots of names that annoy me on many other topics, but by not maining a DK and defending this ability, they made me say "I'll be damned. This ** actually sees the beauty of an iconic feature. Very nice".

6) Show some understanding for the DK class. Magsorc lost major sorcery from Power Surge and within an update they got Critical Surge with major sorcery, making it extremelly easy to heal. Heal HP under those shields that you ZOS never dared to outright nerf.
Why do we have to complain for years about:
Fiery Breath dealing crap dmg and not hitting targets. (We got this dot ability that adds a debuff to work as spammable? You played with cost I don't know how many times?)
Igneous Weapons offering NOTHING for stamDKs
Passives being watered down and useless since they have a very narrow field of influence.
And you slap us with some weird abilities for... DK healers. StamDK ranged spammable. Seething Fury that offers WD but is attached to a.... magika spammable? A Dot that is half spammable and half DoT in Venomous Claw.
You use all those Dev Comments for all those weird additions you pass off as buffs, only to revert the changes to the next dlc with new reasoning in dev comments.

7) Why does my DK feel more like a Paladin? Why do I have a ball of fire healing me or a friend, a throwing rock dealing dmg, stun, and healing me and friends.
Why does a magnetic field of rocks around my character increase my Healing power. What does any of this has to do with a dragon or a knight?
And why do I keep getting nerf as a fighter but I keep getting weird healing buffs?
DKs needs Battle roar and ulty gen to sustain. I dont want to be a Paladin.

Revert the change to Reflective Plate so that we can move forward and make changes based on what a DK should be and not just random things healing us and making us take less dmg from ranged atks.

CP & Class Rework

What I had thought about, as a replacement for CP Trees would be an alternative Identity given to each Class in the form of a "Specialization Focus". Each Class would retain their respective Skill Trees without morphs until they reach level 50. Upon reaching "Champion" Status, you would have a choice between 2-3 specialization roles, each with different Morph options on skills. CP Points would serve purely as passive bonuses based on your chosen focus.

Nightblades
  • Rogues (Stamina-based) - focusing on traps, ranged projectiles and strategy.
  • Assassins (Either focus) - focusing on quick and deadly strikes using fast movement and shadows. [Bleeds and Poison, or Oblivion{ish}] "Death by a thousand cuts"
  • Blood Mages (Magicka-based) - focusing on elemental damage direct to the health of an opponent.

Dragonknights
  • Dragonborn (Magicka-based) - Focusing on strength and control. [Tank Option]
  • Striker (Stamina-based) - Focusing on prowess and quickness to deliver massive bleeds and overwhelming pressure. [Like that of a Dragon]
  • **Cool Name for Dragon** (Magicka-based) - Focusing on fire to smelt their enemy.

Templar
  • Cleric (Magicka-based) - Focusing on healing and group utility.
  • Zealot (Stamina-based) - Focusing on speed and strength to stay in the battle delivering powerful devastation with physical damage.
  • Paladin (Magicka-based) - Focusing on Holy infusion to smite their enemy from afar or near.

Sorcerer
  • Wizard (Magicka-based) - Focusing on Lightning, Earth and Dark Magic using speed and slight of hand.
  • Battle-mage (Hybrid) - Focusing on melee-play using the elements to supplement delivery of devastating attacks.
  • Monk (Stamina-based) - Focusing on fast attacks and speed to suppress enemies and uses arcane knowledge to trick or disorient enemies.

Warden
  • Mage (Magicka-based) - Focusing on frost elements to hinder, debuff and damage enemies.
  • Druid (Stamina-based) - Focusing on transformations into beasts and controlling the terrain to unleash on their enemies.
  • Guardian (Hybrid) - Focuses on absorbing burst damage into damage over time and transferring it into damage.

Necromancer
**This class was pretty well-thought-out, but could easily be turned into an assortment of undead type specializations.

Faction Change for Crowns

$

0
Hey dear Crown Store Team,

since we now get soon the non faction locked Cyrodil Campaign, and Faction otherwise has nearly zero impact anymore on the game, I want to ask if its planned for the future to give us a Faction Change like a race change. You could set it behind a paywall, like a race change, with around 3-5k crowns. For a long time now people where crying that this is some kind of "p2w", because you could easy change your faction into the "winning team" in Cyrodil.

But
a) we get anyways a non faction locked Cyrodil
b) I can not see a big impact onto any part of ESO, since One Tamriel there is nearly no need for factions anymore besides of Cyrodil.
c) a pay wall prevents people from switching their faction like their underpants.

When I started in 2014 i simply created characters and doesnt care much about factions. Now alot of my friends playing different factions, and I would like to join them atleast with a few characters inside Cyro or IC, without starting a new character. Overall atleast I dont see any negative impact, besides of the usual Whiners that will bring their "omg that is p2w" or "omg sellout". We can now change everything for real money, if its race, names etc.

However, it was getting a bit cramped so I shelled out some gold and had an architect add an open plan extension with terrace to take in the beautiful sea view

MagBlade Theorycrafting Changes Thread

So... what’s everyone thinking with the PTS changes?

I logged onto PTS and checked some stuff out but no duels or BGs. Here are my thoughts:
- refreshing path’s been buffed a bit but is being overshadowed by other abilities. It’s almost exactly the same healing as illustrious healing but a smaller area and costs a lot more
- Combat Prayer got a buff but the healing’s still pretty low
- The other morph of combat Prayer looks a lot better. Before when both were weak it didn’t make much of a difference, now it’s an extra 1k base in pvp heal per player, that’s a lot
- Rapid regen and mutagen both look good
- BRP resto with the ward is meh as a healer, cloak blades might like it but the tooltip’s low in no-CP
- The lotus fan nerf is a little too big imo. Unless you’re a melee I don’t see the point with all other dots getting a buff
- Sap’s healing is okayish, I could see someone making a sap tank build if it wasn’t for onslaught
- Onslaught buff will make for some people interesting 2h magblade builds.
- Dot tooltips are great, crazy long ramp up
- My gear was a little different but healthy Offering seemed changed, I’m not sure

Here’s what I’m thinking for my build when the patch hits:
Breton
5L-1M-1H. Buffer of the swift, Transmutation and the grundwhatever monster set, master’s staff back bar. 2x sp glyphs, 1x mag recovery
Healthy Offering, Illustrious Healing, Mutagen, Refreshing Path, Shadowy Disguise - Soul Siphon
Soul Splitting Trap, debilitate, entropy, Flame Reach, Shade - Soul Harvest

Sort of like a hot healer with healthy Offering for burst healing. Dots for offense, but I might drop one for impale.

What are you guys planning on doing with your jewellery traits? Protective looks... meh. Triune or leave as magicka?

Class identity and generic skill lines. Balanced combat. The right way. Part 2, Class ID

$
0
0
For all PvE comments go to Part 1.

In the recent article Zos you used a few terms to try to make people understand how you want to achieve bringing out the unique identity of your games classes, a balance between generic abilities and class play style, as well as the viability of all classes finding a place in a raid.
Draw a blank board and have clarity.

1)Class identity and class abilities
2)Generic abilities filling the gaps
3)DK rant
4)The role of Weapon abilities

1)Class identity and class abilities.
Before we go into class identity ZOS you need to recognize that we need stamina costing class abilities and better passives. Having said that, magika needs 2 new weapons. With the Summerset chapter you could have added such a CORE GAME feature and refresh your combat. Not to add a new generic skill line. The game didn't need more roleplaying features such as psijic roleplaying builds. Stop trying to please everyone. Casuals get new maps and quests, PvE guilds get new instances, PvP players need combat improvements.

it is very difficult to talk about wanting to improve class ID when in the recent space of time all we have seen is an erosion of unique features, copy paste abilities between classes, Turn Evil, Dawnbreaker of Smiting and other generic abilities such as the recent soul trap and entropy find their way in every build. This direction will never lead to what you try to achieve ZOS
All you have to do ZOS is to make every class wanna use their class animations and slot those abilities in their bars. Simple as that.

It is problematic that in the pvp combat of eso, in which a CC has to occur as soon as possible, you ZOS have failed to provide all 12 classes with a unique access to a reliable CC.
This is the easiest piece in putting together a strong case of class identity. Every class, stamina and magika should be able to CC an enemy with class flavour. I dont care if some people will say that, when it comes to CC, you just reskined the same ability with different colours. The universal responce to CC is break free, INSTANTLY. Besides, there can be a ton of effects tied to a CC. Different durations for different effects depending on the impact.
An ultimate is the proof of a superior warrior, mage. Ultimates need to remain iconic. As a DK I am happy with my ultimates. Other classes aren't. How on earth could you go ahead with weapon ultimates and disturb the combat balance, before making sure that every class can feel unique?
Classes should find their strengths in: mobility, sturdiness, resource abundance, buff/debuff selection, burst, AoE contribution. This is where the identities shine. Class ability animations need to be used on those fields.

2) Generic abilities filling the gaps.
The Mages and Fighters guilds as well as Psijic and Soul skill lines should provide some abilities with primary effect a Major buff and a secondary effect of some utility.
Under no circumstances these generic skills like:
Dawnbreaker of Smiting
Turn Evil
Meteor
Soul Assault
Soul Trap
Structured Entropy
Beast Trap (PvE)

Do you know why? Because active combat should be the result of using class and weapon abilities. Generic lore skill lines should be leveled up to improve a stamina or magika character with the use of buffs that are worth slotting. That should be the reward and that should be the link to the lore of the game.
The more generic skill lines you add to the game, which any class with any weapon can acces, for the sake of making players feel like the belong to a new guild with new fighting/magic abilities, the more difficult you make it to balance everything, and preserve a sense of uniqueness

3) Little rant about dragonknight.
I will use the stamina Dragon Knight as an example to avoid when to work towards your identity project. Obviously there are many problems with other classes, such as stamsorc, which doesn't have a class ultimate for starters.

When Dark Brotherhood DLC came out, you introduced murder and poisons. Why did you make the Dragon Knight the poison class? You can't just go "assassins... poisons... volcanoes have fumes. Zombies vomit poison. Dragons have claw. Scratches can get infected. STAMINA DK WILL BE THE POISON CLASS.
You can't delete a dragons wings because you didn't take your time to think "some people complain that magDK spam wings. We could use a fatigue cost just like we did with Bolt Escape"
You can't mess around with Noxious Breath, be uncertain if they will be used as spammables or DoT, and end up nerfing the DoT after a series of cost buffs/nerfs.
You can't add a Weapon DMG bonus to a magika spammable ability.
You can't use a ranged abilty and make it suck as a spammable and as a CC at the same time and say that this is a good addition.
You can't keep adding healing options: Ash cloud. Obsidian shard, Cautirize, Major Mending to the Dragon Knight because you want to help PvE dragonhealers.
ALL THESE HEALING FEATURES SUIT A TEMPLAR. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

I play a stamDK, I used this class as an example of crazy implementations that have nothing to do with the image of Fire and Fury that we all though we chose and that you dare to show us in your recent article, before you revert all the above mentioned madness. No other class has such performance issues and identity issues.
And I dont want to hear about how OP the SnB/2h 7th Fury BS build WAS. It belongs to the past.

4)The role of the Weapon abilities
Weapons should be the PLAY AS YOU WANT part of your game ZOS. Their role is to provide options to the players to complement their fighting style after having chosen a class. Every weapon should have 1 spammable option. Nothing should be complicated about that. The rest of the abilities should have tools that bring out the identity of the fighting style.
SnB should be the sturdy knights choice.
DW should be the furious warriors or quick assassins choice.
Two handed should be the choice of the master swordsman.
Bow. Archer. Not just snipe and poison injection

SnB: Why do we attack with our shield? The shield should CC and lower the enemies defence.
Why doesn't the attrition play style have a Dot. Take the Dot from DW.
Happy with the nerfs. Not happy about the Slam spam.
DW: Why is the most furious fighting style the least threatening?
Flurry first hit should be strong, the rest should be follow up cuts. The 'build up rage' theme doesn't work. Improve the spammable.
Keep the gap closer simple. Simple major brutality, simple gap closer, low dmg.
Wanna nerf Whirling Blades? Is it an execute? Then increase the cost, dont touch the dmg.
An AoE reduction buff does not belong in this skill line. Nothing to do with its identity. Take it to SnB
2H: One morf of uppercut should have increased cost and CC
The over morf should have lower cost and no CC. END OF STORY. Stop messing around with the cost, the dmg, the effect, the animation speed. Let the players choose if they want a CC or a
spammable for their class of choice.
Bow: Rework Imbue Weapon and make it better. Make it the archers spammable. Delete the AoE
Adding ultimates to weapons was a terrible terrible idea.

Old Worm Cult and Lich Outfit as Motif

Hi all,

i really would want to have the old Worm Cult Armor as a Motif Style. It has this kinda Death Eater look and i think it looks awesome. I would rather have it an Outfit Style than Costume because i can add my own flavor to it then. Everytime i see the Worm Cult guys in IC i think "ah man i really want that outfit style" I used to wear it a lot some time ago. Same goes for the Lich Outift. I like the helmet and shoulders there very much.

I hope ZOS is adding it at some point!

Gold Food - Middle Ground Option?

$
0
0
One thing i'd like to see for Double Bloody Mara and the Stam/Werewolf variant would be a middle ground between bi-stat blue food and gold regen food. Something along the lines of;

Bi-Stat Blue: 5395 Health and 4936 Stamina
Gold/Artaeum: 3326 Health, 406 Health Recovery, 3080 Stamina and 338 Stamina Recovery

This is a pretty broad gap where if you only need a small boost to sustain, you give up tons of raw stats to run gold food where you're probably overdoing your regen. As an example;

Middle Ground Gold Food: 4100 Health, 200 Health Recovery, 4000 Stamina, 120 Stamina Recovery

Keep the gold stam recovery food much higher, but offer a middle ground option that isn't one of two drastically different extremes.

Thoughts?
