Senchal's Skybox isn't accurate.

DFjoIup.png

This is a view to the north/northeast from Senchal across the Topal Bay. I had marked on the map the entrance to the Tiber River, and looked in that direction. There's nothing but mountains, a couple thousand feet high on the water's horizon. So then, where's the Tiber River? The Imperial city of Leyawiin is supposed to be sitting on the banks just up river of the Bay and yet, how can it with such elevation there? The skybox makes it look like the north shore of the Bay is just sheer cliff face.

DEAD DEAD DEAD Campaigns

I'm honestly not sure what's the point of adding new campaigns when people really aren't even playing in them. It's always one sided, maybe it's time to take off alliances from pvp, and just allow anyone who groups of to be safe from killing each other and everyone else is free game. Instead of being EP and only able to kill AD/DC. Because PVP is starting/becoming to be ridiculous. Why would someone other than to play with their friends which they won't normally do now leave a 30 day locked campaign after reaching tier 3, to go play in another campaign and not receive rewards? I think it's time to change up PVP. Aka "Kill Every Alliance PVP"

Against my better judgment, I will give this one last go. I believe that, for the most part, the discussions have been fun and enjoyable. I feel that I've gotten to know some people on other factions a bit, and it is cool being killed by someone you recognize! :) Anyway, let's stick to talks of builds, funny stories (like the time I got jumped by 8 AD as I rode across the bridge and they bashed me to death as I fell out of my chair laughing), map strategy, which in game snacks you prefer, and of course... Ice trebs.

Suggestion: remove dmg dependency on size of stam / mag pool

Break the dependency between maximum stamina / magicka and damage output.

It makes no sense at all (well I am aware this is a high fantasy but still) and it also kills a build diversity. You cannot have a "viable" endgame damage build without fully commited magicka or stamina.

The next good step would be to update racial passives so there are no magicka or stamina races. An Altmer swordsman, what a joke. Or an Orc mage. At least in top tier group play.

Simply put, let players merilly mix swords and sorcery even in endgame group play. This game IS about group play, right?

The “Easy Sorc” build

In lieu of last weeks Xynode appreciation thread, I was compelled to try out this easy Sorc build.

Simple put it’s Undaunted Infaltrator, Infallible Aether, Grothdar.

Xynode recommends an Undaunted Infaltrator Lightning stave...I spent much time trying to acquire with no success. So, I made some changes.

To complete the sets, I’m using 2 medium armor, 5 light, and an IA Lightning staff because I had a few of them lying around. I do indeed have more Maelstrom staves than could ever possibly need, but realize this build is likely designed to help someone acquire them.

Transmuted the jewelry to infused/ bloodthirsty. It’s purple with purple enchants. My IA staff is purple and precise. Grothdar is 2 light, Because I had them to make the sets line up.

My character is dark elf he recommends high elf.

How does it play?

It’s like old school pet Sorc, but with no pet. Massive AOE damage everywhere. lacks in the single target a little bit. That’s not such a bad thing when you got that much hard hitting AOE everywhere.

It feels stronger than Pet build....you can use pets too. It’s versatile. I like it. Had a lot of fun.

If you run out of resources, you’re doing something terribly wrong. I was skeptical using weapon damage enchant and shock enchant with no Absorb magic enchant, but the heavy attacks more than make up for recovery.

I’ve never been good with Sorc. So I left the Lightning form skill un morphed. It made me move too fast and couldn’t see the guy and lightning everywhere is makes it tuff for me to tell wth is going on. Did not need the speed buff too.

It’s very strange not having a real spammable on the front bar. Daedric tomb is kind of wonky, diddnt really like. Or clench. Pulsar though, fits the theme; adds utility, hits good. I like it.

I soloed the daily Undaunted pledges. Easily.

I had a much more difficult time doing them in Siroria/ Mother Sorrow/Zaan.

I ran Maelstrom one time with the setup. It was pretty good in there actually. MS Siroria Zaan would be laughable. Guarantee. I’m not the best Sorc ever, but this setup is solid. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to try something different.

Some other things

Having the 2 medium body pieces and jewelry may not be %100 optimal, but it did insure the 5 piece Undaunted Infaltrator Buff was always on. Lost a little bit for no 511, but still right around 40k mag 3k Spell Damage buffed. Could be a little better if some things were golded out or wat not.

Undaunted Infiltrator is a weird freaking set. Medium armor. Has 2 add magic bonus. Weapon Crit, not spell Crit, then the light attack does 700 extra damage, heavys do 1100 extra damage. Because the Damage adds every tick of lightning staff heavy it makes it really good for lightning staff heavy attack.

In trial, you can throw in trap beast or Channeled Acceleration somewhere for the minor force.

DOTs have been nerfed to the ground and now sorc's are immortal

to be fair, after the last updates players of all classes seem significantly tankier. I think a big part of it is the fact all dots do roughly half the damage they did before. You wanted to make oblivion damage the "giant slayer" but dots were the true giant slayers. Yeah, they seemed like a lot of damage but that was only if they could stay on long enough to do the full amount. If your target or yourself purged or died, the dots would only be worth a tick or two. So now if you use a dot, even for the full duration which is normally 10 seconds, it wouldn't be worth much more than a single spammable hit (that does all its damage at once). So now a whole category of skills has become worthless, again, in pvp. Not only all dots but the value of skills that helped with dots plummeted. It's fine though, I'm just bored of all the old meta burst skills. Not that dots were all that more exciting it just felt like something new to play an all dot build and watching your opponent melt gradually instead of in random chunks.

This last update has been a significant paradigm shift in class power. before classes that had a way to avoid that massive dot damage was king or queen but now those cleanse/dot avoidance skills are worth far less. Now we have sorc's who can not be killed by anyone other than they're own hubris or if they lag out or bug. I have three of every class because I like trying new builds. but lately my sorc's are a mile above all my other characters and it's one of the classes I play the least. I think this is mostly because we're back to the burst meta and they are the best at avoiding bursts AND really good at eating bursts with wards. Other classes are good at eating bursts too but they eventually can get overwhelmed by a large enough group. Sorcs can choose the size of groups they fight by simple running away until the only players following are a group small enough for the sorc to handle. After they all went "art of war" on your ass they are just as tanky as any other class while having the easiest burst to time in the game. To do that much damage, take a *** load of damage, and blink/expedition halfway to another keep must make it hard to manage recourses? lol nope. What kept them in check before was the dots, they had to really stay back in the distance because if enough players DOTed them up the sorc would be hard-pressed to keep his ward going burning up resources which made it significantly harder to run away and forced them to choose between blinking away from the charging group and getting melted by the dots or ward themselves and get run down. Every class can 1vX by LOSing around rocks/building/trees but sorc's expedition and BoL that can now remove snares, make them the king/queen of LOS play.
If they got stunned before they could still take on enough DOTs that would tick them down while they LOS'd. They would either die or stay forced on the defensive.

Now I'm not asking for sorc nerf's, because I'm having a blast playing one but I do recognize that there is no counter against a sorc while every other class has its weaknesses. Maybe make a DOT in the assault tree that does increase damage based on the distance the target has traveled. Since dots are pretty much worthless it wouldn't be that big of a deal if they just stood there and warded and burst you down, but if a couple of those get thrown on a sorc that wants to get away they have to think really carefully on how to go about that, unless they slot a purge.

If you add a skill like that sorcs would still be the same powerfull fun class but now I, as well as others, will have to pay closer attention to what our/your opponent is doing rather than just mindlessly Burst/ward/run repeat.

It also gives more value to purge and dot avoidance skills in PVP. And sorc's could use the skill too on players that are chasing them but if the chasing player a purge it wont help them much.

Basically what it comes down to is that sorcs only natural weakness was dots because they had no way to cheaply cleanse them and or null them like cloak. and now the sorcs main weakness just got nerfed into the dirt. Snares and roots used to help a lot too but now ball of lightning removes and grants immunity to snares. Other defensive/evasive skills can be countered but ball of lightning counters almost everything.

New meta immortal sorcs, you just got to be a little good and nothing can kill you. I'm a terrible sorc and I've got a bug that keeps locking me into sprint and I still do great.

Are you okay with ESO getting on path of P2W model?

Subject of poll: New crownstore pet which increases inventory space by 5 slots accountwide for 1200 crowns.

I am not going do discuss with anyone whether it is or it is not P2W since it clearly follows the basic idea of advantage over regular players because they are unable to acquire it without spending crowns for it (I might be mistaken but can't find in under "not collected" pets where ingame obtainable pets are but if so, this poll is meaningless).

So far the crownstore items were only affecting the appearence of characters and fastening progress on alts (sky shards completion, skill lines, etc.) because you had to complete given achievement on any char. Upgrades like Bank space and inventory space could be bought but not exceed amount of inventory available by ingame methods, same for riding lessons.

Edit: Please notice that it got its own new category of "Inventory pets" so we can expect more of them coming which means how far will it go? 10 slots? 50 slots? 100slots?

Edit2: Read the question again. If you are reading it over and over and still see it as "is the pet p2w?" then head here.

So, what's the plan? All the big guilds seem to be disbanding or have disbanded on PS4, I have heard of an exodus pre dragonhold on PC as well. All the veteran players seem to have lost interest or just stopped bothering.

It's getting harder to find a good group to even do vSS. Forget vCR. Yes, there are a few groups running around doing the hardest content but it seems a huge number of population has given way.

Is this the beginning of the end? I've played on PC since 2015 and on PS4 since 2018. Things haven't been so dismal in the past 4-plus years.

P.S, I understand dps dropped considerably this patch making the end game harder than before. But most of that content was being done with even less of a damage output when it came out.

Is it perhaps because of the absolute clueless attitude of ZOS? Like triggering people because they can't figure out what they are doing patch after patch?

I'm just trying to figure out if I should invest more time and money or maybe finally move on and wait for a new Elder Scrolls :/

Edit: no this is not a I quit thread. I still love this game and hope that I am wrong about my feelings.

Made a similar post on Steam before but decided to ask here as well since there are some people harassing me currently.

I initially got it in March (I believe) during one of the sales on Steam because there was always an interest I had for the game but I was never sure if I should get it or not. Also I'm very into the lore and world of TES games so it got me curious even more. All that aside from the fact that I became bored of gw2 as a vet who has been playing it for years and the immense lack of content the game has to offer for 7 year veterans if you don't actively raid (which I did but that was long long ago).
So, I played a bit back then, found everything quite interesting, but at some point dropped out and took a break for like several months and became inactive. I only logged in daily to grab the rewards, sadly. And just now as of recentIy found myself becoming active again and actually played for several hours each day over the last 2 weekends and leveled my two characters (a khajiit warden and an argonian dragonknight) I currently have to max (Leveling seems so slow even with scrolls and only focusing on main quests if you don't have a subscription compared to some other games) so that I could unlock champion rank (currently at CP170~) to not look completely helpless.
One thing that I have noticed at first is that the world looks beautiful and I'm amazed that you get so much stuff even without DLCs and/or expansions (will think about maybe getting that once it's possible for me). Also I like to add that the game seems to surprisingly good even on the highest settings (usually around 80fps to 100) and no matter the population compared to gw2 (which is becoming more and more unstable with each update but that's something everyone is talking about and a problem of the engine being overloaded and totally out of date. But we aren’t here to talk about that game.).

Well, I still need to figure out some of the stuff still (like how to acquire the right crafting recipes to match endgame gear) but I'm eager to find out things for myself.
I'm a very shy and anxious kind of guy who usually does stuff on his own and gets nervous when others are around in fear of them being rude. (I heard from others that the community is extremely unfriendly but I'm not sure because others say the opposite) I also don't talk at all or very rarely or only when I’m panicking so I think trading will be a problem and I don't even know how prices are listed (found some stuff from the event that I already have and that is sold by others through the chat so I assume there's no trading post or somesuch) and I need to leave group bosses out of map completion as well because of that allthough I soloed a few of these and a few group dungeons as well. Overall I tend to do things on my own and I don't need help at all but I thought about maybe asking around if there's someone here interested in adventuring together. Someone focused on the same things like the roleplaying and exploring aspect rather than the hardcore one of the game.

I know I could ask for a guild but my experiences with guilds have always been bad and I never stayed in one for a long time (except those that became inactive) and I’m known to have been into every sort of them. My experiences go from stuff like where people were offered help but were told to go search the internet instead to stuff like the climate becoming very toxic to stuff like bullying and even to one guild that blackmailed their members for gold. Those are only a few examples of the bad but despite all the bad things there were also good experiences but sadly all the nice and friendly guilds are those that became inactive for years. I might add also that I’m very shy when it comes to stuff like discord or teamspeak and it might take me a while due to events in the past regarding voice chats where people have been making fun of me and harassing me only because my voice didn’t sound like either male or grown up. I’ve gotten some pretty transphobic and homophobic insults there that I don’t want to repeat and that’s why my trust is not easily given these days because I’m still insecure about those things.
Because of those experiences I’d like to be careful with guilds, especially if I don’t know the community well. And even if I’d search for one I’d rather be looking for a LGBTQ friendly guild due to some of my background.

Anyways I’m rather a kind of roleplayer (even if I never actually did RP) who likes to immerse myself within the world of a game and someone who enjoys the lore. I’d like to take things slowly and I also have a backstory and headcanons for every character (that goes for any game actually). I’m not new but I’m also not a veteran so I could use a few advices.
So if there’s anyone of the same kind like me who wants to accompany me please feel free to drop by.

(Sorry if this got messy. I don't usually make posts and English isn’t my mother tongue since I’m from Germany but I prefer to be around English speaking communities)

Now your going to have to forgive me here. I was clearly sleeping during elsweyr's pts.

Im not gunna pretend to know what the uptime on major slayer is, im sure one of the smart players in comments will let me know. I can tell you though most mag classes have NOWHERE near that much uptime on major slayer.

Like ya maybe magblade and magden can get close to that much uptime on it with master architect but stam also has some pretty cheap ultimate's for war machine. Most mag classes cant even effectively use master architect.

Now your giving stam major slayer every time they hit a synergy. While your giving mag 8% less to abilities and some speed. lets just be honest, false god is nice but its just a better version of alteration and even with it sustain is trash.

Now would any of the clearly, not even trying to hide it anymore, stam bias devs. @ZOS_RichLambert @ZOS_BrianWheeler like to chime in here as to why mag does not have even a good source of major slayer never mind something as insanely good as lokke? And when can I expect to see mag lokke?

Buying Skyshards with crowns

$

Hello All!
So, most of you know by now that there will be something called "Skyshard Achievements for Alternate Characters", where if you unlock "a Skyshard Hunter" Achievement, you can unlock those skyshards in an alt character using the crown store. You can read about it in the patchnotes
I want to make it clear, that this is not a discussion on whether it is P2W or not. I'm not saying it is and I do not think it is.
But, being or not being P2W, i think everyone can agree that it is a hell of a shortcut.

Don't get me wrong. I have Eso+, I have crowns, I'm lucky I can click and simply buy stuff. But the fact that people can only get these with crowns worries me about the future of ESO. Not the future of the crown store, but the future of ESO's health and community.
It worries me that this will open doors to more crown bought achievements or "shortcuts".
And most of all, It worries me that it will start to scare people off.

I would say ESO is at its prime right now. Lots of people coming in from other game(s), lots of content, new class coming up. All is great. And I'm really happy that ESO is finally getting the attention it deserves.
But this crown thing might just be what will turn people away. And I don't like the sound of it.
The problem is not this isolated SkyShard thing but if it will start happening with other stuff too.
I would suggest and would like to know how everyone would feel about this, that you'd have something like the Shrine of Srendarr or Shrine of Stuhn but for SkyShards. Where you could unlock skyshards by using the Shrine (or something else) and you would still have the Crown Store option. This would be much more like how ESO does things. This would give everyone a most equal chance to get those skill points. I've always praised ESO on how they treat their paid stuff, but this time... Well this time doesn't really sound like ESO.

TLDR; Being able to buy skyshards with crowns only, can open the precedent to future bought "shortcuts". If this is to be implemented, at least players should be able to buy the skyshards with Gold also. Like when using the shrine of Srendarr or Stuhn.

What are your thoughts on this?

After 4 years, It's the first time I really feel the need to start a discussion on the forums. So this has had some thought put into it. It is something that really worries me as a fan of ESO. I want it to be healthy for many more years to come.

Sorry if formatting could be better.

Happy Adventuring!

EDIT: Typos and added a TLDR

I constantly see threads asking nerfs, even for the most underwhelming/ situational skills available. Instead, I think it would be more beneficial to utilize the experienced players on this forum by asking questions on how to improve.

Example- ABC keeps killing me, then list your class, build, skills, cp, etc... then people could help with rotations/ passives or even just the way skills actually work.

Trainee Set Stat Density

$
0
0
This one has bugged me for a long time, but I’ve always halfway accepted the idea that trainee is intended to be a beginner set and have weak stats for end game. However, last weekend this theory was debunked when gold jewelry showed up in the Golden Vendor in Cyrodiil. It was clearly placed there deliberately, with a separate item for each of the 3 jewelry traits available (healthy, robust, and arcane). It was not some RNG computer algorithm that chose Trainee by mistake.

To begin the discussion, let’s look at what the set does:

Armor of the Trainee
(2) 1206 Health
(3) 1096 Magicka
(4) 1096 Stamina
(5) 1250 Health, Magicka and Stamina

So it gives a total of:
- 2456 Health
- 2346 Magicka
- 2346 Stamina

It is basically a tri-stat glyph or Triune trait in set form. However the values don’t seem to be balanced in this sense. If we compare it to sets like Crafty Alfiq (5848 Magicka) or Draugr Hulk (5848 Stamina), and use the general formula seen with Triune trait or Prismatic Glyphs:

1 Magicka = 1 Stamina = 1.1 Health = 0.5 Magicka + 0.5 Stamina + 0.55 Health

Then a tri-stat armor set should give with all the set bonuses combined:
- 5848 x 0.55 = 3216 Health
- 5848x 0.5 = 2924 Magicka
- 5848 x 0.5 = 2924 Stamina

Another way to calculate this would be to use the general rule that a 5pc set bonus is equal to 2.32 standard set bonuses. So the combined bonuses on a 5pc set should equal 1+1+1+2.32 = 5.32 standard set bonuses. Looking at the Stonekeeper 1pc we see that a standard tri-stat set bonus is 548 Magicka + 548 Stamina + 603 Health. If we multiply this by 5.32, we can see a 5pc two stat set should give a total (across 2,3,4, and 5 piece bonuses) of:
- 603 x 5.32 = 3208 Health
- 548 x 5.32 = 2915 Magicka
- 548 x 5.32 = 2915 Stamina

Notice that these values are extremely close to the previous method, and far from the existing Trainee set totals.

If we were to keep the existing 2-4 piece bonuses and absorb the new total resource values into the Trainee 5pc set it would look something like this:

(2) 1206 Health
(3) 1096 Magicka
(4) 1096 Stamina
(5) 2010 Health + 1828 Magicka + 1828 Stamina

If I were redoing the set I’d actually take it a step further and shift some of the stat density out of the 5pc and into the 2-4pc bonuses to each be tri-stat. It could be:
(2) 603 Health + 548 Mag + 548 Stam
(3) 603 Health + 548 Mag + 548 Stam
(4) 603 Health + 548 Mag + 548 Stam
(5) 1407 Health + 1280 Mag + 1280 Stam

This would make it more unique and better balance it against single-stat options. Trainee is currently one of the most difficult sets to farm, since it drops in every armor weight and jewelry can be any of the 3 primary traits. There are also no Dolmens or Public Dungeons in these zones, so many pieces only come from chests. It also drops in training trait, ensuring every piece must be transmuted to be useful (with the exception of a few quest rewards). It should really have some value if someone goes through all this effort, and especially if it’s going to be sold as end game gold jewelry.

Note: This set in a previous form gave 2500 of each resource on the 5pc bonus, which was slightly overpowered, and exceeds my recommended values by 500-700 of each resource. A nerf was justified, but not by the amount received.

Help understanding CM results

Fairly new to the game and trying to understand damage calculations etc. I ran parses on a 3mil skelly, 3 with Major Sorcery (via Degeneration) and 3 without using puncturing sweeps and heavy attacking when out of magicka (only uploaded 1 of each parse but they were fairly similar). The spell damage under stats shows, as expected, almost a 20% increase with Major Sorcery. What I don't understand is why we're not seeing a similar increase in damage from the abilities or overall dps? Is it because of penetration/resistances? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

New to dungeons? Or perhaps you’ve run through them countless times but have only the vaguest idea of whom you’re fighting and why?

I want to take a character I’ve not yet done any dungeons on and go through each dungeon, listening to all the dialogue, and I’m sure there are others who would enjoy the same. :) I’m on most evenings and would be glad to form a group to do a few a week or whatever works for everyone. All are welcome — no experience required! The only requirement is making sure no one feels rushed and can talk with NPCs to their satisfaction, open chests, etc. I can bring whatever role is needed.
