More About the State of Battleground PVP

Hi,

I'm all Yellow Stamina Necro with 2h & 1h + Shield, infused weapon dmg in Jewelry. Wearing Twilight/Eternal Vigor with Unleashed or Oblivion or what ever proc, sometimes amuse myself with Spriggan / New Moon. Malacath when crits are not involved with build. Artaneum for digestives etc.

But

Fair to say I have at least close to end game gear. So how it is possible:

That there are many times when I do not do any damage to my opponents or if normal Dizzy goes for lets say 5k sometimes you just don't do any visible damage. Ok yes a tank build + shields, but if 4 in our team dish out our best and we can hardly kill this guy? And after all this, this tank is still actually able to do enormous amount of damage back to us - great design?

I know 24/7 min/max players in any RPG PVP can have an advantage and follow with the good old "learn to play" jargon.

But

There is something badly wrong with the game if it doesn't allow you to do any damage in Artifact gear. We all love to see the Health bar drop when we hit/cast and smash.... don't we?

So there are these combinations of builds / gear and group play where, even in great gear, you cannot have an influence to the fight. Ok good for you geniuses, but for the rest of us it is frustrating game play with no reward after grinding "the best gear" and with the top gear one should be able to do damage no matter what, right :smiley:

Do we need caps, diminishing returns, I don't really know, but not being able to influence the outcome "at all" in PVP game doesn't sound right.

Currently gotten back into ESO (as you do after months off 😅), and the guild I was a part of kicked me for inactivity because I couldn't get on ESO as much as I used to.

Was just wondering if there's any guilds out there that run dungeons and map completions and shard hunting that I could perhaps join? Preferably with a discord or some other form of communication, too!

Got a guy to gift me 4 items, accepted them. Traveled home to place them.... and theres no furniture in my inventory 😟

Anyways I had to relog to get it to show up. I guess this is just a PSA really- your furniture can and will just disappear when you move it to your inventory, when you claim it from the mail and when you purchase it with crowns. So don't freak out if you can't find your stuff.

But really, it's just not worth the hassle to attempt to decorate anything on PS4 until ZOS fixes this mess.

Any addons you think are essential?

I started a pc account yesterday while the ps servers were down, and i plan on playing on pc some more. Will still be playing ps too so i dont want to go to overboard with the addons and get to dependent on them. But i did already get the skyshard and lorebook addons. Are there any others you guys feel are super important to get?

Vampiric Drain Needs Some Debuffs

And not debuffs for using the ability but like applying debuffs to your target. Right now Drain is under utilized due to it's terrible healing, terrible damage, and undesirable additional effects through morphing. While you get benefits from the additional effects nothing really happens to your target and they just take a little trickle of damage that's so pathetic the worst heal over time outpaces it. Also nothing is stopping them from interrupting you making the ability even less desirable to use. So, for those who don't know here are the two morphs!

Exhilarating Drain
Siphon away your enemies' vitality, dealing 599 Magic Damage, healing you for 23% of your missing Health, and generating 4 Ultimate every 1 second for 3 seconds.

What I was thinking was adding some of the poison debuff effects to these abilities to make it at least a bit more desirable to try and use them in PVP. (Not sure how to do it in PVE without buffing either the damage or healing but ZOS thinks the ability is good as is right now.)

Candidates for Exhilarating Drain:
  • Timidity: Consumes 1 ultimate every 1.5 seconds for X number of seconds.
  • Cowardice: Increases target's cost of Ultimate abilities by 30% for X number of seconds.
  • Sorcery-Draining: Increases target's cost of Ultimate abilities by 30% while increasing your spell power by 5% for X number of seconds.

Candidates for Drain Vigor:
  • Damage Stamina: Increases cost of target's stamina abilities by 10% for X number of seconds.
  • Drain Stamina: Increases cost of target's stamina abilities by 10% while restoring stamina to you each second for X number of seconds.
  • Enervating: Reduces target's critical damage by 12% for X number of seconds.
  • Savagery-Draining: Reduces target's critical damage by 12% while increasing your weapon critical damage for X number of seconds.

Reason I list them as candidates is I am not a master of game design and figure the community here would know which one(s) would suit the abilities better. Maybe you all know of some debuffs that'd be better than the ones I've listed above? Would love to hear what y'all have to say.

Easter Egg Furnishings. Its time!

One thing myself and many others have always wanted in ESO has been Easter Egg furnishings. I've hosted many easter egg hunt events over the years, but we've always been limited to using odd furnishings like apples. Could we get some pastel colored easter egg furnishings added into the game in the future? The egg models are already in the game itself, the pet "Mara's Spring Chicken" actually has 3 eggs that it lays out (pastel colors)

War Mount CP Perk Bug in Cyrodiil - PS4/NA

Twice now I’ve been hit by player skills while riding to a keep in Cyrodiil and it has caused my War Mount CP to stop working. I am not sure what I got hit with the first time, but today it sounded like Poison Injection.

After getting hit with the player skill, the mount stamina bar shows up onscreen and the mount’s stamina starts to decrease.

Once I got to a safe place I checked to make sure that CP Star was still slotted and it was.

The mount stamina bar continued to show onscreen until I went to the CP screen and then it disappeared after that.

Not a great workaround considering how busy Gray Host campaign has been lately.

Please look into a fix.

Which companion would you prefer? Yes I know most people will get both but if you had money for only one, which one would you choose? (Bastian is the Imperial dude and Mirri the Dunmer dudette).

In literally any way possible. As of writing EP is sitting at 1 bar AD 3 (probably closer to 2) and dc has been poplocked for hours now holding all 6 scrolls and all emp keeps. DC could take back EP gate keeps and defend them with 1/4th of their player count while using the rest to overwhelm AD. Why even bother playing cyro if the 70% of the ball groups are going to faction stack blue and just win because there's 100 of them playing constantly vs like 7 red players with the only occasional challenge to them being when the yellow ball groups decide to get on at the same time as them?

These campaigns are a prime example of why all campaigns need to be alliance locked. You cannot even go in these campaigns without an absolute abundance of yellows or reds on blues and according to Zenimax, breaking their code of conduct by abusing scoring systems, (AP boosting) , losing on purpose, (ie just tonight a “blue” picked up a scroll after we killed the runner, and took it right back to reds to die and give it to them), and the plain toxicity involved in such situations. I really don’t understand a code of conduct if nothing is ever enforced and this happens openly in these campaigns, many times in zone chat with such comments when confronted as “Why not if we can get away with it?” Etc etc. It totally ruins the game for anyone that wants to play it the way it was meant to be played. Gray host is an option however not a viable one as sometimes it can be 1-2 hours more of wait time. Just curious how others see these campaigns?

The number of PvE toons in BGs is too damn high!

Im tired of carring players who queue for BGs with their PvE toons, just in hope to get carried by the rest of the group so they get that XP reward for daylie randoms. They dont get anything done with their wall of element spam, and fall like a sack of potatoes. It ruins the game experience for every player with the slightes bit of ambition for the win.

Please add a "vote kick" for BGs.

Lycanthropy Variation

I'm not suggesting ESO should alter the skill lines (all that much?) or gear, but it would be nice if we could add a little variety to Lycanthropy with some reskins. There are mods on Nexus that allow players of Skyrim to play as Wereboars, Werebears, werebirds, and others. I don't see why we shouldn't be able to have the option of adding these as NPCs in-game or as Skin options in the Crown Store. Thoughts?

Ball Groups: A National Concern

The other thread was closed because of mean people. Let's have a constructive thread.

Ball groups aren't going anywhere. Change whatever you want, the players will adapt.

The issue for me is that they tend to exploit inherent weakness in the combat system while also overloading the server with aoe spasm that further make it hard to kill them.

Strategically, they can avoid most attacks by going into towers which also prevents the most effective counter attacks.

Most siege is useless at best because either you can't directly hit them or they simply shrug off the damage.

We need a better counter. For example what if there was a new siege weapon that exploded on impact, dealing increased damage for each additional player hit?

What if resource towers were destructible?

If groups want to ball up, I'm all for it. But there needs to be a better counter than sending 30 people to kill 12. I think ball groups might actually enjoy a better challenge but hey, easy ap is hard to turn down.

Any other (non trollish) ideas?

Personally I have seen a lot of threads asking players their personal dps numbers. But I haven't seen many people ask what they estimate what the playerbase at large is doing.

So I decided to ask you guys. Please give a bit of background about the kinds of content you do, and what content you'd say you do most often. And then also tell me where you think the dps numbers should fill in this crude bell curve I made.

Please note, I know it's pretty poorly drawn. My apologies for that. I am using my phone and simply drew using the note feature. It's not really intended for this.

I'll start with my own perception.

The red lines represent the range I think the vast majority of the playerbase is hitting.

The blue numbers represent what the people are a bit below or a bit above the average.

And the purple represents the beginning of the top 10% of the playerbase and the bottom 10% of the playerbase. The rarer players, so to speak.

As for background information about myself that lead me to this conclusion.
I am a player that has done quite a few things. I have some dungeon skins and attempted some vet trials as well have been invited (but had to decline) into endgame trials guilds as I'm generally knowledgeable. However, I havent been motivated to work on my dps in a long time, so being good enough for that is a thing of the past. These days I find that I'm still above average on dps, and help people complete a large amount of content. Most recently I helped a group of players complete the hard mode of scalecaller peak, teaching them the mechanics. But I also find that the gap between me and good players gets ever wider, and that I care less and less preferring solo challenges. As such you can often find me just wandering around Tamriel, and offering help to a wide variety of players. Though nobody would want me in a vet dlc trial anymore.

What numbers would you fill into the red, purple, and blue lines? And what kind of content do you do that lead you to that conclusion?

Toons in PTS

I have 14 Toons on the NA Server.
When I come into the PTS, sometimes I get my NA Toons and I can explore. Other times I have to use a Brand New Toon who can't DO anything because it's just like starting a New Toon in the NA Server.
How can I get it to let me in PTS with my NA Toons? I know anything they do there has no bearing on the normal play, but at least I have Wayshrines marked and can look at new craft tables, which a new toon is useless at.

ZoS, We Need to Address the Mat Price Increase 2x-5x

As many have noticed, upgrade and base materials prices have exploded. In most cases doubled, in Legendary level prices have tripled. In some outlier cases, it's gone 5x. This is all within a timeframe of a few months.

This is all well and good if Gold income or flow was also increasing at similar rates. It has not. For the flippers and exploiters, this is all great and amazing!

For the regular player all the way up through upper level veteran players, even us long timers, this is not good and has set a dangerous precedent. Even with decent weekly sales and income from occasional hours of dedicated farming, it has become unrealistic to upgrade gear.

As a matter of perspective, the prices themselves aren't the problem. The issue is the relative value versus the players' ability to earn that coin to buy it. In this case, the value hasn't gone up, nor has the player's ability to earn that value in gold, but the price has gone up.

Through poor planning or poor game design, as well as controlling the artificial drop rates, ZoS is both allowing and is an accomplice to a rapidly growing inequality. It's getting to where even the advanced player has to sell Crowns just to upgrade gear. If this is the new game design or intention, then ZoS should just go ahead and directly sell us Gold for Crowns or real money so we can eliminate the middleperson.

For several examples, here's some examples that I had been noticing and watching skyrocket.
  • Dreugh Wax: an absolute game flaw making the gold mat for light and medium the same item.
    year ago: 6k, then 7k, then a few months ago 9k, then suddenly 10k, then when the patch dropped 12k, quickly up and up, 14k last week, this week 17k.
    So from 6k to 17k.
  • Tempering Alloy: a year ago 3.5k, then 5k, then when U29 dropped had gone to 8k, last week breached 10k.
    So 3.5k to 10k+
  • Rosin: watched it go from 2.5k to 5k-8k, so not so bad, but still noted.
  • Alchemy ingredient prices: almost all have undergone a 50% to 100% price increase during that same time.
  • One outlier case I noticed go insane, and I don't care nor am in the market of nor for, is Aetherial Dust. Obviously it would go up due to the raised cap. Yet it has gone way deep into questionable and greed territory. A year ago or more it was 230k-275k, it had been there for quite some time. I watched the zone sellers since Update 29 go immediately to 350k, then a few days later 400k, then last week 500k then 600k, and a few days ago 750k.

    That is just totally nuts and a terrible design that allows for something to go from 230k to 750k within weeks.

This is setting a dangerous precedent ZoS, I'm telling you as a friend for years, this is dangerous and will backfire. If you want only the elites to get richer and everyone else to have to sell Crowns just to make gear or make potions to do content, the just come out and say so. Make a way for us to just buy the Gold.

Or, if you really want to fix it, just increase the drop rates. A Dreugh Wax is not worth 17k if it was 6k last year. Just up the drop rates of the mats and Surveys, we don't mind working for it.

We don't mind working for it, but it has to be realistic. 1.2 Million gold to fully upgrade 1 set of armor for 1 character is not realistic for most players.

Getting kicked from dungeons, misuse

Yesterday I was using the 'Looking for Dungeon' tool with my DPS character to get my daily 10 crystals. I landed in Fungal Grotto 1, which, as most of you know is not a hard dungeon and can be done solo with little problem. I am over CP 1200, there were two players mid level and one level 19. Within 30 seconds there was a notification to kick the level 19 player. I am inclined not to kick players without a very valid reason, so I answered no. Within a couple of minutes I found myself being kicked from the game. No doubt this was in revenge for me not kicking the first player, who no doubt didn't know he/she was the first target. I feel this so called kicking tool is over used by players who, in my opinion, have an overinflated opinion of themselves. In my opinion it should be adjusted to prevent this kind of misuse. I only kick people who are afk or abusive in chat, otherwise I will leave the game if the dungeon can't be completed with that team. No doubt I will get a lot of flak for this post. But at 75 years old and 20 years in the military this will be water off a ducks back.

is there any way to bulk destroy style pages?

Most Style Pages seem to be bugged and don't stack. So, it would be nice to have a way to select all and bulk destroy those style pages instead of having to type or paste "DESTROY" to confirm every single item we delete.

Anyway... most Style Pages should even be green or even white, so we can wipe it out on collection.

Is there already any way, that I might be missing, to fast delete all duplicated Style Pages?

Zenimax could learn from other MMO's

Yes, ESO is a great game. No I'm not saying WoW, GW2 ect are better. But zenimax could make ESO a lot more fun by learning from other MMO's.

WoW let's you use all your abilities, and while alot of people disagree I think it would be nice to see PC player at least have bar switching work like GW2, where you switch weapons but keep 10 abilities. With ESO 2 ultimate would stay.

WoW pet classes are something that I see as great. right now sorc and Warden make us keep our abilities slotted which is annoying. Let us switch it out but then nerf it so it's not OP. Try lowering pet damage by %15 first on PTS. Even if it's weak at least we can consistently use it. Then give the %15 damage back on activation of the ability. This would let us keep the pet but make it so if you want the full damage you slot the ability.

Necromancer really needs at least 1 cool undead ability. No the temp ones don't count. I like how WoW handled their "necromancer' which is death knight. The ability basically works like this

Control a below lvl (insert lvl) undead for up to 5 minutes.

Obviously I think Zenimax has a different philosophy on long abilities so lower it to 1-2 minutes. If we can't have something like that let us have a permanent melee skeleton or let us keep the ranged skelly and have it work like Wardens.

But zenimax wants ALL classes to be unique. Making another pet class won't work.

I ranted before that a lot of classes share abilities, Dragon Knight and warden have armor. Neco has vampire ult as it's tank. Ect. Allowing necro's to control undead or have a permanent pet will keep it in theme with a necromancer.



Guild wars 2 has a neat feature where if your harvesting materials it keeps the animation going and lets you collect materials for a bit. It's a small thing but it feels like your actually gathering resources rather than click E on a rock then collecting it like it's some sort of chest you open.

GW2 also has better World events IMO. Some are pretty boring like defending a NPC while they walk, but some are REALLY *** COOl. For example there is a area that's similar to valenwood but has tree people. (think dryads with legs and leaf's for hair) They have a zombie problem where the zombies come in waves and it's a world event where you have to protect them. This can EASILY fit for a future expansion as ZOS is no stranger to World events.

GW2 and WoW also have unqiue looking mounts but I think it's more of a ZOS problem since they make alot of money from the crownstore and crowncrates.

WoW has mage create portals to major cities. While we have wayshrines it doesn't feel like im creating a portal as it feels like a annoyance when I'm a sorcerer and part of the mages guild. You could go to eyevea and they basially have 5 portals. NPC's constantly create portals and teleport the player. There is literally no reason sorcerer shouldn't have a passive or extra ability to create portals to capital cities.

How it would work: The ability would either work like a normal ability which u can slot, but ZOS could add a extra space for it, they have done this with potions and collectibles so it's not "impossible due to technical limitations". Or they could make it a tool like the cool like how it works with the cake that gives exp or the tool that you get in Greymoor. This would make sorcerer a very unique class and allow dungeon and raid parties to save gold. Around 500 for dungeon groups and 1,200 on Trail groups. It would also let RPers feel like they actually are a mage.
It also would make sense lore wise since Sorcerers summon daedra. So creating a portal should be easy. This shows that sorcerers are more well versed in conjuration than other classes which would make sense to allow only sorcerer to create portals.


GW2 has a great mechanic which basically let's you create a backstory for your character. Though I guess we will kind of have that with the blackwood where we can pick our starting zone according to chapters. though I still feel like GW2 has alot more choices for your character.

WoW having the story boss linked with a trial or dungeon.
While I get that ZOS wants to maintain the philosophy or keeping the quests of the Elder Scrolls Online single-player. I believe it's time to AT LEAST party move away from that. I think that 'final bosses" should have a dungeon or trial where you beat them. Like how in Craglorn there are trials for The Warrior, The mage and the Serpent. At the very least add a trial or dungeon where we beat someone related to the final boss. I believe we kinda had that for Elswheyr but I havn't done it and I doubt the dragons you fight there have any relation to the main boss.

For PvP their could be new arenas for each zone. 2 PvP arena's per year. 1 for Morrowind, 1 for Summerset, 1 for Elswheyr, 1 for southern Elswheyr, 1 for Greymor, 1 for markarth, 1 for Blackwood, 1 for the zone after it. The arena's wouldn't be huge so while it would take time at least PvP players get new content. If the dev team does not want to spend so much time on creating so many different arena's they could at least start with blackwood. I don't PvP but it sucks seeing so many PvP players wanting content and having only Cyrodil and 1 Arena.

A lot of people will say these ideas are horrible. But after playing so many different games and playing ESO for 1,000 hours. I don't suggest these ideas because I want to change how ESO works completely, I think these ideas would allow the player to be more immersed in the world, make classes feel unique for the player, and would improve the game.
