Ball Groups: A National Concern

$

The other thread was closed because of mean people. Let's have a constructive thread.

Ball groups aren't going anywhere. Change whatever you want, the players will adapt.

The issue for me is that they tend to exploit inherent weakness in the combat system while also overloading the server with aoe spasm that further make it hard to kill them.

Strategically, they can avoid most attacks by going into towers which also prevents the most effective counter attacks.

Most siege is useless at best because either you can't directly hit them or they simply shrug off the damage.

We need a better counter. For example what if there was a new siege weapon that exploded on impact, dealing increased damage for each additional player hit?

What if resource towers were destructible?

If groups want to ball up, I'm all for it. But there needs to be a better counter than sending 30 people to kill 12. I think ball groups might actually enjoy a better challenge but hey, easy ap is hard to turn down.

Any other (non trollish) ideas?

Ilambris' damage
This set now procs both lightning and fire at once rather than one or the other, and the damage has been adjusted for this.

Could someone please test if it procs off of fire/shock weapon glyphs? It used to work before it was changed to fire OR lightning, but it doesn't currently on live (the last time I checked anyway). I used to run it on werewolf for fun.

Recieved free ESOPlus for 1 week by accident

Yesterday i received ESOPlus free trial by the error of the game. There wasn`t any information about it on official website, but my friend told me, that this giveaway was an accident by developers. Is my usage of ESOPlus punishable, or i can resume playing 1 free week? If this is punishable, how i can remove free trial?

Ancestral Akaviri Motif - How do we get the lead?

$

Ancestral Akaviri Motif: The Ancestral Akaviri Chapters and its associated style item, the Burnished Goldscale, is obtained by excavating them via the Antiquities system throughout Blackwood. (From PTS Notes)

This reads the same as how the Ancestral Reach motif is obtained, by getting a lead and then digging it up. Ancestral Reach leads were given from treasure maps from Skyrim and The Reach treasure maps.

So does anyone know how we will be able to obtain the leads for Ancestral Akaviri motifs? I know we will dig them up in Blackwood, but how do we get the lead in the first place?

Built-in critical resistance - should we have it?

If you remove all the gear, you will observe having 1320 critical resistance. It means in any PvP scenario, crit gonna damage way lower than if would in PvE.

Is there any particular reason for this, aside from cloak -> incap? I mean it basically cuts out all crit builds (except for acuity gankblades) out of no-CP PvP, because it is really, really hard to get better number than on malacath using crits. Crits themselves requires you a lot of contribution, and you would get proportionally more damage if you invest in stats/penetration.

I think this is not healthy. What do you think?

Feedback: Shallow Companion Gearing and the Forced No-Helmet Aesthetic

I just watched the ESO Live that detailed companions and I have two major areas of feedback concerning companions:

1) Please allow us to equip companions with gear sets that we have acquired in the game. It feels shallow that companions are forced to exclusively use generic, watered-down gear.

2) Please allow us the option for helmets to show on our companions. It's not cool that the helmet is always forced to be hidden.

Thanks.

Update spell visuals?

What are the chances that Zenimax will update spell visuals on abilities which haven't changed since launch. I find there are loads of spells/skills that look terrible in this game and would love an updated look.

Stinging Slashes Set - how does it work?

Title.

I really don't understand how this set works: https://eso-sets.com/set/stinging-slashes

Twin Slashes deals 1635 more damage for each hit of the initial attack and bleed.

This is Twin Slashes' tooltip: Slice an enemy with both weapons to cause deep lacerations, dealing 644 Physical Damage with each weapon and causing them to bleed for an additional 2570 Bleed Damage over 10 seconds.

For each hit of the initial attack and bleed? What? Is this a stacking buff that cumulates charges and unleashes with the following Twin Slashes attack or what?

Can someone who has access to PTS please include exactly how much power is being taken away from the cp? There were no numbers or percentages in the patch notes, and I am quite interested in learning them. Many thanks in advance.

I logged into the PTS!!!

No word yet on how stable or performant it will prove to be.

At the moment I'm on a character loading screen.

I kind of want to buy 10 things from those crates badly, do they return this year by any chance?
That would make me really happy.

Proc Set Scaling Concern

$

With damaging proc sets now scaling of weapon/spell damage, Im a bit concerned that mag dps wont benefit from them as much as stam dps. Mag dps builds tend to run lower on spell damage (4-5k) and typically have higher max mag. While stam dps builds tend to run higher weapon damage (5-6k) and run lower max stam.

On fake tanks and healers..

ZOS needs to modify the group finder so that, as a DPS, you shouldn't be allowed to set your role to healer or tank unless you have at least unlocked/slotted a skill that can group heal or can taunt on your skill bar.

I don't mind if you're a DPS who really wants to get your pledges/random done.. we've all been there.. the DPS queue is AWFUL. But, if you're going to queue as a fake tank or a fake healer, you should at least go to the effort of unlocking a taunt (Undaunted Inner Fire) or getting a Resto staff and some heal skills and at least TRY to play the role.

I'm tired of selfish DPS coming into these queues and creating a literal cluster-F of a dungeon run because they're just too lazy to at least try to play the role they've queued for.

I'm also sick and tired of hearing things like "WELL YOU SHOULDN'T NEED A TANK OR A HEALER" ..I do not care if it's Normal or Vet ..not everyone plays this game the same way. Not everyone wants to run through at breakneck speed. Some folks are doing the quest. Some folks want the XP grind. Some folks want to farm chests. Some folks are low level and it's their first time in a given dungeon, and you STILL get these jerks who act like it's everyone should put up with their entitled nonsense, just because.

The new Relequen-Change

Trial

The following sets now scale off of your Weapon or Spell Damage, whichever is higher:
Arms of Relequen and Perfected Arms of Relequen's damage

This Change and Dmg Proc will kill Stamina DDs in PVE for Raidgroups. We had this before with Relequen/Siroria Meta on Magicka, in these Days Relequen was changed to dealing physical Dmg, so a Staff couldnt proc it anymore. Now Dual Wield is vaible/Meta for Magicka and in the Patchnotes are the Axes Crit Dmg buffed again. DW Magicka with Relequen + Mother Sorrow/Siroria could be the new Magicka Meta.

I dont really understand this change, Stam is already behind on Live. You arent able to reach full Penetration on Stam and its harder to parse already in Trials if you compare it to Magicka.

Blackwood Chapter housing megathread: houses, furniture, companions and more

Hi everyone, Blackwood is coming to the PTS, so here's the Housing content that we have to look forward to in this year's Chapter! I'll update the post with more pictures as soon as I can (PTS will go online tomorrow), and as usual I'll try to compile all the housing info here in one thread for a convenient overview. Hope you find it useful and will have something to look forward to and be excited about!
NEW HOUSES

Pilgrim’s Rest: Inn Room - via quest or for ingame gold
"Every year, hundreds of Zenithar's worshipers journey to Leyawiin, desperate for a glimpse of St. Kaladas's architectural marvel: The Great Chapel of Zenithar. This suite offers a welcome respite from the road's perils."
qadpaq7qhuzx.png

Water's Edge: Large house - for ingame gold (after completing the Blackwood Grand Adventurer achi) or Crowns
"Those seeking a taste of river life without all the flooding can find everything they need in this cozy bridge home. With both the Outlaws Refuge and Leyawiin Castle just a brief walk away, it's the perfect spot for nobles and lowlifes alike."
93kmsaemwtrd.png

Pantherfang Chapel: Manor - for Crowns
"The embattled clergy of the Quenching Grail established Pantherfang Chapel in the First Era as a bastion of faith. Part cathedral, part citadel, this edifice still stands as an immortal reminder of Aedric strength. Allows use of the Pledge of Mara."

Sounds like this will be a special feature of this house, that you can marry inside the house without needing a Shrine of Mara in the open world. I foresee a lot of wedding chapel builds here. Some more info about this house: "Pantherfang Chapel is a Notable Home with everything you‘d want in a castle of your own. It has two main buildings, a chapel and a fort. You can reach it by boat and arrive at your very own dock."

OTHER FURNITURE AND QoL UPDATES

Houseguest versions of the 2 new Companions - Mirri and Bastian
btoxam5wuc9o.png
After completing the 2nd Companion-quest (which unlocks after reaching a certain level of rapport with the Companion), we will unlock a Houseguest collectible of the Companion, which will work the same way as other Houseguests.

Firstly, it seems odd to me that Companions aren't immediately place-able in our homes like Assistants, Pets, Mounts and Houseguests are, but instead apparently have 2 versions - a Houseguest and a Companion version. From the way they put this, this may also mean that we can't place our own customised Companions in our homes, but only the default Houseguest versions  It's nice of course that we will get a Houseguest version of the Companion without having to buy a Houseguest at extra charge, but I fail to see why it's even necessary to jump through extra hoops and have 2 versions, rather than just placing the Companions...

Updated Precision Edit function
"You can now precision edit furniture items and path nodes from the Housing Editor's Retrieve menu, without first having to pick them up. This also allows you to make precise tweaks to objects that are embedded in other objects, or which are otherwise difficult to select normally." Nice change, being able to adjust embedded items without having to place them again!

Endeavors will allow earning Crown Crate furniture through gameplay
With the upcoming Endeavor system, we'll be able to earn 'Seals of Endeavor' for completing certain ingame activities. These Seals will be exchangeable for items currently available in Crown Crates. So during the Ayleid Crown Crate season for example, we would be able to exchange these ingame-earned seals for the Ayleid furniture from the current Crates. This will give players another option to buy Crown Crate contents without having to gamble, exchange gold for Crowns or buying Crowns. We don't know the prices of items yet, but overall this seems to be a really nice change! :star: There's more detail about Endeavors themselves elsewhere, just wanted to highlight how the Seals will impact us Housing fans since ZOS keep putting furniture into Crown Crates.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited for anything in particular? Got some build ideas for the new houses already?
I'm disappointed by the Companion-Houseguest divide, but really looking forward to trying out all the new Furniture!

Ambrosia after todays patch (6.3.8)

The patch notes state "Fixed a calculation error in the Rationer star’s effect."

Yesterday I could get 1 hour and 20 minutes out of an ambrosia with provisioning passives and this star slotted.
Now the star doesn't affect ambrosia at all and I'm back to 50 minutes with just the provisioning passive.

Is this a bug or indented? All other buff food works fine in it's extended duration with the passive slotted.

Master Writ Quest assistance good but...

Master Writ Quest Assistance
Beginning with this update, your Master Writ Quests will point you towards the correct Set Crafting Station to use to complete that quest.

When you have a Master Writ Quest active, the quest will guide you towards a Crafting Station in the world that makes the Writ's requested Item Set, just like any other quest's objective.
It will also place a quest pin over the needed Crafting Station when you are in close proximity – great for navigating houses full of Set Crafting Stations.
At present, this applies to all Set Crafting Stations placed in player houses, and some Set Crafting Stations found in the world; the remaining in-world Set Crafting Stations will be added in a future patch.

This is great! But still useless if we can only have 1 writ of each type active at a time. Being on PC I use Writ Worthy, so this update will mean very little as I don't accept Master Writ quests until I'm at Rollis for turn-in.

ZOS should provide a secure in game method to exchange gold for crowns
