ESO Launcher does not close elegantly PC/NA

$

I see several previous posting regarding this or a similar issue, but none with an actual fix, so posting again:

After I exit the game and close the launcher by clicking the "X" button in the upper right, the window disappears but the launcher remains on the Windows taskbar. If I left click the icon on the taskbar, nothing happens. If I right click and select "Close Window", nothing happens. If I try to restart the launcher, I get "launcher is already running" error. The *only* way to get the launcher to close is to bring up task manager and "end task". I thought this was a Steam issue, but it happens on my second (non-Steam) account. I thought maybe it was a repair issue, but I am seeing the exact same behavior on my laptop, on both launchers. At first it was intermittent, but for the last week it has been every time.

Blackwood PTS housing megathread: houses, furniture (now with images!), companions, etc (updated)

Edit: PTS came online today, so updated the post with videos and pictures, some in a separate post below.
Edit 2: UPDATED WITH FURNITURE, now that they added them to the Editor.

Hi everyone, Blackwood is coming to the PTS, so here's the Housing content that we have to look forward to in this year's Chapter! I'll update the post with more pictures as soon as I can (PTS will go online tomorrow PTS is up now woohoo), and as usual I'll try to compile all the housing info here in one thread for a convenient overview. Hope you find it useful and will have something to look forward to and be excited about!
NEW HOUSES

Pilgrim’s Rest: Inn Room - via quest or for ingame gold
"Every year, hundreds of Zenithar's worshipers journey to Leyawiin, desperate for a glimpse of St. Kaladas's architectural marvel: The Great Chapel of Zenithar. This suite offers a welcome respite from the road's perils."
qadpaq7qhuzx.png

Water's Edge: Large house - for ingame gold (after completing the Blackwood Grand Adventurer achi) or Crowns
"Those seeking a taste of river life without all the flooding can find everything they need in this cozy bridge home. With both the Outlaws Refuge and Leyawiin Castle just a brief walk away, it's the perfect spot for nobles and lowlifes alike."

Pantherfang Chapel: Manor - for Crowns
"The embattled clergy of the Quenching Grail established Pantherfang Chapel in the First Era as a bastion of faith. Part cathedral, part citadel, this edifice still stands as an immortal reminder of Aedric strength. Allows use of the Pledge of Mara."

Sounds like this will be a special feature of this house, that you can marry inside the house without needing a Shrine of Mara in the open world. I foresee a lot of wedding chapel builds here. Some more info about this house: "Pantherfang Chapel is a Notable Home with everything you‘d want in a castle of your own. It has two main buildings, a chapel and a fort. You can reach it by boat and arrive at your very own dock."

OTHER FURNITURE AND QoL UPDATES

Houseguest versions of the 2 new Companions - Mirri and Bastian
btoxam5wuc9o.png
After completing the 2nd Companion-quest (which unlocks after reaching a certain level of rapport with the Companion), we will unlock a Houseguest collectible of the Companion, which will work the same way as other Houseguests.

Firstly, it seems odd to me that Companions aren't immediately place-able in our homes like Assistants, Pets, Mounts and Houseguests are, but instead apparently have 2 versions - a Houseguest and a Companion version. From the way they put this, this may also mean that we can't place our own customised Companions in our homes, but only the default Houseguest versions  It's nice of course that we will get a Houseguest version of the Companion without having to buy a Houseguest at extra charge, but I fail to see why it's even necessary to jump through extra hoops and have 2 versions, rather than just placing the Companions...

Updated Precision Edit function
"You can now precision edit furniture items and path nodes from the Housing Editor's Retrieve menu, without first having to pick them up. This also allows you to make precise tweaks to objects that are embedded in other objects, or which are otherwise difficult to select normally." Nice change, being able to adjust embedded items without having to place them again!

Endeavors will allow earning Crown Crate furniture through gameplay
With the upcoming Endeavor system, we'll be able to earn 'Seals of Endeavor' for completing certain ingame activities. These Seals will be exchangeable for items currently available in Crown Crates. So during the Ayleid Crown Crate season for example, we would be able to exchange these ingame-earned seals for the Ayleid furniture from the current Crates. This will give players another option to buy Crown Crate contents without having to gamble, exchange gold for Crowns or buying Crowns. We don't know the prices of items yet, but overall this seems to be a really nice change! :star: There's more detail about Endeavors themselves elsewhere, just wanted to highlight how the Seals will impact us Housing fans since ZOS keep putting furniture into Crown Crates.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited for anything in particular? Got some build ideas for the new houses already?
I'm disappointed by the Companion-Houseguest divide, but really looking forward to trying out all the new Furniture!

The poll says it all -

Please give your feedback!

It was suggested based on community, that these downgrades should occur and I'm interested on how much of this community actually agrees.

This is to discuss CP - not Proc Meta, PVP, or anything else outside the specific's of CP. Though arguments may be provided on how CP impacts any other specific content.

Basically following the "phantom mail bug" where we clearly stated that we couldn't receive mails the only issue you guys fixed is our unread mails.
d2wh843d2ogw.png
As you can see I am sending myself a mail from another account and it still shows as full while my mailbox is clearly empty.
p0vma5ywo9xc.png
I decided to open a new thread as I guess the other one wasn't clear enough on what the issue truly is. We don't care about our unread mails if we can't receive new mails.
Here's a video so you guys can have a quick look at how frustrating this is, I recorded it literally 5 minutes ago post pretended patch.
image
Please keep in mind that for us returning players this have been ongoing since the release of U29 almost 2 months ago.
We need this sorted zos and not in 2 weeks when you guys decide to drop another patch this bug is gamebreaking and I can guarantee you that the average of your returning players don't even complain about it they are just leaving the second they notice their mail system isn't working.
Also please don't reply with something like "turn off your addons" I reinstalled the game 4 times.

Scalebreaker Dungeons - Moongrave Fane and Lair of Maarselok - Veteran Hard Mode Mechanics Guide

$
0
0
Introduction

This is a guide for the final boss fights of the two Scalebreaker Dungeons—Moongrave Fane and Lair of Maarselok—on Veteran Hard Mode.

Moongrave Fane – Grundwulf

The core mechanic of Hard Mode is Ghastly Wound.

What is Ghastly Wound?
  • This is a Heal Absorption effect, similar to Soul Tear from Nahviintaas in Sunspire.
    • Any healing received by a player with Heal Absorption is absorbed and does not actually reach the player's health bar. The health bar of a player with Heal Absorption will be untouched by healing until the effect is gone. Some players describe Heal Absorption as a sort of "reverse damage shield" because the health bar of a player with a damage shield will be untouched by incoming damage until the the shield is gone.
    • The size of the Heal Absorption is 40310; i.e., it dissipates after it has absorbed 40310 points worth of healing.
    • Ghastly Wound lasts indefinitely and does not expire on its own; i.e., you cannot wait it out and it can only be removed through healing.
    • Note: Healing abilities that use "smart" targeting (e.g., Breath of Life) currently do not take Heal Absorption into effect. So if a player has Ghastly Wound but has not yet taken damage to their health, abilities like Breath of Life may not hit them at all. As a result, abilities with direct or AoE targeting are generally more reliable for dealing with Heal Absorption.
  • Ghastly Wound has two additional effects:
    • Healing done by players with Ghastly Wound is reduced by 90%.
      • Health restored through potions, Battle Roar, Argonian Resourceful passive, etc. are all considered by the game to be healing done by the player and are all subject to the same penalty.
    • Damage shields cast by players with Ghastly Wound are reduced in strength by 85%.
  • When Ghastly Wound is applied to a player who already has the Ghastly Wound effect, the heal absorption does not stack—you will not get a 80620 Heal Absorption. Instead, the player will gain Exsanguination, which is a DoT of around 1.5-2K per second.
    • Saving a player who has Exsanguination is a matter of breaking through their heal absorption before they are overcome by the Exsanguination DoT.

What applies Ghastly Wound?
  • Hitting the Sangiin Sliding Stone
  • Using the Sangiin Sacrifice synergy
  • Being bitten by a Ravenous Hoarvor
    • A Ravenous Hoarvor will spawn every time a Hemo Helot ("blood ball") is broken.

Strategies for dealing with Ghastly Wound
  • The healer should never, ever get Ghastly Wound.
    • The 90% healing done debuff means that they would be unable to heal themselves—or anyone else—out of a Ghastly Wound.
    • They must never hit the sliding stone (and must be careful to not hit it with a stray light attack)
    • They must never summon a blood ball.
    • They must never be bitten by a hoarvor.
    • It may be prudent for another player to have some off-heals so that they can save the healer in the case of a mishap.
  • Assign one DD for the job of summoning a blood ball.
  • Assign one DD or tank for the job of moving the box.
  • Don't break blood balls unnecessarily—summoning a new one applies the Ghastly Wound effect, and breaking one spawns a hoarvor.
    • We typically break them only for the Megabat. The tank will simply hold the Hemonculous that spawn until a Megabat spawns, and then we break all of their shields with a single ball.
  • Hoarvors are the top target priority. Tab-target and kill it immediately after someone breaks a blood ball.
    • If your DDs are ranged, they can kite it around while killing it.
    • If your DDs are melee, CCs such as Fear or Time Stop can help with killing it safely.
  • Communicate to the healer when you are affected by Ghastly Wound.
    • Alternatively, for healers playing on PC, it is possible to track the Heal Absorption effect on each player with the Purge Tracker addon.

Other Mechanics
  • Devouring Megabat: These slow-moving enemies will 1-shot the player that they are chasing if they get too close.
    • They have an invulnerability shield that can only be broken by breaking a blood ball.
    • They have only 5266 health and will typically instantly die to any source of damage as soon as their shield is broken.
  • Drain Vitality: Grundwulf will shout "Gaan!" (the first word of the "Drain Vitality" shout from Skyrim) which places a damage-over-time effect on the tank.
    • It is recommended that a tank slots Purge to dispel it.
    • Purging this DoT will cause Circulation damage to the other members of the group.
      • Circulation hits for only around 4-5K per player and is usually inconsequential.
      • Circulation can be blocked, dodged, or shielded, but this is usually not necessary.
    • This mechanic is not specific to Hard Mode or even to this boss fight, as it is present during the previous boss encounter.
  • Elemental Fury: Grundwulf will shout "Su!" (the first word of the "Elemental Fury" shout from Skyrim) which increases the speed of his heavy attacks. Tanks seeking to dodge the boss's heavy attacks need to be aware of this mechanic.
    • This effect lasts for 15 seconds.
    • Grundwulf's heavy attacks normally have a 2.5s windup and the final stroke of his heavy attack has his sword swinging upwards.
    • With Elemental Fury, his heavy attacks have a 1.4s windup and the final stroke of his heavy attack has his sword swinging downwards.
    • While empowered by Elemental Fury, Grundwulf's sword will be surrounded by a subtle, white misty aura.
    • This mechanic is not specific to Hard Mode or even to this boss fight, as it is present during the previous boss encounter.
  • Desolation: The dying dragon Sahrotnax will cover swaths of ground with lingering AoEs. He's not trying to kill you—you just happen to be haplessly caught in the crossfire of his conflict with Grundwulf. Either way, watch your step.
  • Hollowfang Dire-Maws: These enemies spawn at 70%, 50%, 35%, 20%, and 10% boss health. They behave the same as ones encountered throughout the rest of the dungeon.

Does Malcath Ring increase base dmg for crit?

$
0
0
Can someone on PTS can check if Malacath increasing base dmg for crits?

Because I was just trying to run quick math for my Khajiit Templar and...

Normally crit hit give increase for 72%. With 50% crit chance (i have invested more in pen & dmg) the overall dmg for each hit would be around 36%.

If Malacath reduce this value by 50%, each hit would be increased by ca. 11%.

But if you would add Malacath 16% bonus to the equation, then base dmg will be increased by 16% and then increase by 11%, each hit would give almost 29%. Which is even more than before. And I am not even taking into consideration Mechanical Accuity.

So can someone check it for me or correct my math, if i am wrong, or multiplication works somehow different?

Launcher glitches upon exiting game

Every so often after the last update, my launcher glitches oddly when exiting the game, and the only way to stop the process is to euthanise it via Task Manager. This is on a Win 10 machine with the latest Windows and driver updates (at least as of checking last week).

This happened to me before and vanished after updating GPU drivers, but that solution hasn't worked this time out.

Any idea what's causing this or how to stop it?

Bump Sithis resistances up to 5,280 or 5,940 and call it a day.

I think ZOS went a bit too far here with the nerf-hammer.

5,280/5,940 armor equates to 8%/9% damage mitigation, and it's susceptible to being reduced by penetration — unlike block mitigation, which you lose entirely. You also lose the ability to use a monster set, another big minus. I think that even if ZOS bumps up the armor a bit, it will increase it's viability a bit without it being a no-brainer to slot (as it was before.)

Just my 2¢.

Security Question recovery

Good day.
Just wanted to check on the process for this.
Somehow my password got reset when I changed my password on the forum (at least I think that's the issue, mind you it could just be a PEBKAC problem as well) and I seem to have forgotten what I thought was my favourite band when I filled out that question, and need to get my security question reset so I can recover my password.
I submitted a ticket through the support page and got a ticket number, but no "we are looking into your issue" email as I would have expected. Maybe I am missing part of the process.

My support ticket number is 210503-001860

it's been most of the morning now and I am itching to get back in game.
Can pls I get an update on my ticket so I can re-enter the world of Tamriel?
Thanks
Tyg

What content/lore do you want to see in the upcoming Expansions after Microsoft acquired Zenimax?

$
0
0
I'll change the Chapter concept into a REAL Expansion, with more content and more features.

I hope Microsoft will change Chapters in Expansions...also I hope they will decide that Zenimax to bring more content to an ESO Expansion.

First ESO Expansion made together with Microsoft would have :

- 6 new zones
- 6 group dungeons
- 18 public dungeons
- 48 delves
- 400 quests
- 2 Trials
- 1 new class
- 2 new weapons (ex crossbow and wand )
- Spellcrafting
- An upgrade class system
- A new tier of gear that can be acquired from everywhere as drops or the existing ones could be upgraded easily using tokens, mats..AP..etc . So no grind involved..only fun. These items will be Ancient legendary items.
- Justice System 2.0 ( also, ZOS forgot TG and DB ? )
- 1 solo arena
- A dungeon/trial token system
- new mount stats ( every mount can be upgraded to gain more stats)
- 6 BG maps
- a real working Cyrodiil as it was in 2014-2016
- Mount combat in PVP
- lots of motifs/styles
-6 new houses

This kind of expansion would launch every year after the anniversary event. This will bring more players and the existing ones will be very happy.

The rest of the patches should be only for balance, fixes, improvements, events, tiny new additions , QOL..etc..

The second and the next expansions must have the same concept.( ex if in the first expansion they implement spellcrafting ..in the second one they introduce another feature ;like gardening as ZOS said years ago)

The third if not the second ..? :) could be the first expansion with a revamped engine that permit water and underwater content...so the next big feature could be naval combat ;)

Cheers!

I know this is a small thing... but can we stop getting kicked out of queue and then having the 30 second "You have queued recently" error message when we try to get back in.

I mean its bad enough "using a wayshrine" or "getting attacked" seems to be enough to auto-kick without even waiting 30 seconds to see if you'll be free.

What the actual hell is happening? Since yesterday's maintenance, I can't play the game properly as I'm being "Booted from the server" for no reason at all. It also happened two times in a row. I was buying stuff from the guildstore, BAM - BOOTED. Of course I couldn't log in again.. but when I did get in game I though I shouldn't buy stuff anymore since it's bugged, but instead level up my alchemy. A few minutes in.. BOOTED.

Now I don't know why it's happening, but I would like it to stop.

Companions in Daily Random Dungeons need to be a thing... For the good of the community.

$
0
0
Perhaps what I was most excited about with Blackwood/Companions was the prospect on running random dungeons with a friend and our two companions... But as more and more information about the companion system comes out we're hit with this stipulation, "Players will always take priority over a Companion."

This means that it will be impossible to queue with your companion for content as it'll just get replaced by a player by the dungeon finder.

I understand the fear the devs might have about trying to manage queue times if people are playing with companions, but I think it would really be good for the overall health of the game (and its playerbase.)

Almost every day we see some post on reddit from a player who's infuriated about getting a "fake tank" or people speed running dungeons that they want to take slow. Just, so, so, many drama-infused-posts from people basically BRAGGING about them and their friend kicking someone at the end of a dungeon because they speed ran it without waiting for them to "teach them a lesson"... Companions would solve all of this--especially because one of them is a tank. Those of us looking for quick transmute crystals could power through randoms with our companions, and people who want to take 7 year old content at a snails pace can do so... No more drama.

I guess another solution could be moving the daily transmutation crystals out of the random rewards and into some sort of random dungeon quest (so you could solo or two man it), but that's a different issue.

TLDR: Let me and my friend use companions for fast/drama-free daily rewards!
