A scene didn't play during the white gold tower quest.

Something that's really really minor that probably no one cares about.

In the WGT quest, after you killed the Adjudicator boss the NPCs are supposed to run in and an optional scene (where one of the guards says something like "secure the parameter") is supposed to play.

Right now the quest glitches out and that scene no longer happens for some reason.

I've been writing shortfic for Mirri & Varanis prior to playing with her, and figured I'd continue. Spoilers ahoy for Blackwood, Companion interactions, and past content. Updates will be quite sporadic.



Brigadine Andricus folded his arms and scowled at Mirri, and the stranger riding up behind her on a flaming panther.

"I'm not helping you mount a suicidal rescue mission," he declared.

"Then you can watch me kick the arse of every cultist standing between me and my little brother," Mirri snapped back.

"Sucidal rescue missions from evil cults are sort of my thing," Varanis Arano said, dismounting in a plume of ash and fire. "Where do I sign up?"

On the outside, the Doomvault Vulpinaz was a typical daedric shrine. Black, red, and everything set at slightly unsettling angles. On the inside, more black, more red, unsettling angles, glowing letters in daedric script, the works. Oh, and the assorted cultists and daedric beasties.

"You're taking this all in stride." Mirri observed, as Varanis burned two cultists to ashes and then promptly turned to rifle through the bookshelves for new books.

"It's just another Daedric ruin. I've been in dozens."

Mirri pointed to a break in the wall, through which a fiery sky and large spiked towers could be seen. "That's not our sky."

"Er, no. It's not Coldharbor either."

"Coldharbor?"

"That's a long story we don't have time for right now."

Asking far too casually for someone grappling over a lava chasm to break a soul gem array and stop a nasty ritual, Mirri said, "Did I mention I'm a Daedrologist?"

"No."

"It's my main field of study. I don't worship the Daedra, I promise, but I'm fascinated by the Anticipations, the Princes, and their cults. You've really been to Coldharbor?"

"Yes."

Mirri took a deep breath. "Are you Varanis Arano the Vestige who defeated Molag Bal, Nocturnal, Clavicle Vile and who's been to half a dozen daedric realms and come out alive?"

"Aren't we supposed to be rescuing Eolaf and your brother from a ritual that's probably killing them right now?"

"Er, right. We should do that."

"The real Xigira?" Mirri repeated after Ardia. "She's a fetching Daedra? No wonder this cult is nuts. I think they're trying to turn this place into the Deadlands."

"If it makes you feel any better," Varanis said, "the Planemeld didn't end too well for the Worm Cult. And we usually managed to rescue the Mages Guild members they kidnap to summon their dolmens."

"Usually? Xigira keeps threatening my little brother!"

From above, Xigira taunted them, "You can listen to your brother Liam's screams as you stand helpless in front of my sealed gate!"

"I'll fetching kill you!" Mirri screamed back.

A grinding noise came from behind her, and she spun around. Varanis hauled a long black lever into position. "One down, two to go. Xigira, you gotta work on your puzzles, this is easy adventurer stuff."

Safely back in camp, Mirri fussed over her brother, alternating between bandaging him up and berating the Brigandine for his lack of help.

"Oh, get a real job." The Brigandine said, exasperated.

"I'll have you know I'm a member of the Fighters Guild in good standing."

"Uh, huh." He eyed Varanis. "And I suppose you're going to tell me you're the Vestige."

"Yes, she is," Mirri said, before she could answer. "And I'm going to accompany her as part of my Daedrologist duties for the Fighters Guild!"

"You are?" Varanis asked.

"Of course! You can't turn down a fellow comrade, right?"

"I..." Under her breath, Varanis muttered, "I turned down Bera so many times she's taken to shouting at me in the street when I walk by. But if the rumors about the Four Ambitions are true?"

To Mirri, she said, "Sure. I could use the help of a Daedrologist."

"Great!"

1. Varanis hauled a long black lever into position. "One down, two to go. I'll take the one on the right. Mirri, you go get the one on the left." She headed down the right path toward the grapple point.

Mirri didn't move. "Er, I can't pull levers."

"Your little brother's soul is at stake and you can't pull a lever to save him?"


2. "You can't turn down a fellow comrade, right?" Mirri asked, confident she had Varanis dead to rights.

"Do you know how many times I've turned down Stuga's quest?"

Why didn't you just make the companion gear craftable?!?

Would have been simple, clean, inexpensive...instead you have this mess of companion gear and i'm not talking about the 1million overpriced items for sale because prices will eventually get balanced out...but its just a mess, nobody wants or needs to be storing companion gear...you did a wonderful thing when you implemented the sticker book for sets...you just took two steps back with this disaster of a companion gear system which will need to be fixed. If you would have just made the gear craftable from the start and limited the quality the companion could use based on their level or something like that...did the server really need to be dealing with all these extra items in game?

I hate pvp.....

In the Future #2: "Year-Long-Story" packages

Consider selling these "Year Long Stories" as one package in the following year. Like; "Season of the Dragon" - "Dark Heart of Skyrim"

so around Jan-Feb 2022 sell "Gates of Oblivion" as one package

seems a bit more honest of what all the content of that "Story" includes. Also makes it clear for buyers just getting into the game what additional storylines there are

Blackwood quest "Vinnus' Research" behind triple Deadlands PD RNG?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there seem to be three levels of RNG to get through before you can pick up and do the first stage for the quest "Vinnus' Research":

1) You need to find one of the portals to the Deadlands open in one of 18 locations. Several may be active at once, but there seem to be no guarantees which one is up at any given point in time.

2) Once you find an open portal, you need to hope you get the top left starter island. There are three starter islands. Presumably there is a 33.3% chance of each? And yet in 8 portals I've found in the past 4 hours, only 2 sent me to that island -- the other 6 sent me to the bottom starter island, and none of them sent me to the starter island in the top right. Not nearly a big enough data sample to indicate the actual chance, but enough to show how quickly this is getting old.

3) Once you've gotten a portal that takes you to the right starter island, you need to hope that starter island sends you to the correct one of the two possible intermediate islands. The starter island in the top left can send you to the island directly south (which is the one you need to be on) or the island directly east (which is the one you need not to be on). It isn't possible to get between islands except by the portals that predetermine your path. If you're sent to the island to the east, you're SOL. Both of the times that I've gotten the correct starter island today, I've been sent to the wrong intermediate island. Don't bother trying to get between islands on foot: environmental fall damage puts a short and sudden stop to that before you even get a chance to test the lava...

I happened somehow to get the right combo to get this quest a few days ago. The reason I'm trying to get back to the correct island is because I shared the quest with a friend. They got one of the two quest items (the copy of Vinnus' notes), but not the stone that they now need to pick up on that island. Why doesn't the stone share with the letter, avoiding this whole mess?

Having my friend drop the quest and disband group before entering a portal in the overland resulted in the portal sending them to the wrong starter island (the bottom one), so they couldn't get the quest again.

I love the companions, Mirri more then Bastian (who wonders?) and I would like to have some improved interactions.
A lot of people have already commented on the repetitive reactions, I do not really have a problem with that but here some first thoughts:
  • I would like that when Mirri says she is hungry or thirsty this would actually mean something, e.g. you craft something and she is happy - rapport increase
  • Her chat colour is always the same as all other NPC's, it would be nice if we could give a specific colour as she is NOT like all other NPC's
  • If you sit in an inn it would be nice that she also sits down or to be able to make her sit, like in Skyrim for instance
Anyone something more to add? Would be nice to read more ideas from people enjoying the interaction with the companions which it nice but still quite limited :)

Could be not main quest related but still, who's the one worth your time or was a breath of fresh air?

If not Elam Drals I'd surely be pretty mad about lack of genuinely fine made characters.

Suggestion: Music Box Volume Slider

Firstly, I love the music boxes both for the music as well as the beautiful designs that have been getting more and more intricate of late, so kudos to the design team for that.

However, I've noticed that the music from the music box is tied to the "effects volume" slider, both in the crown store preview as well as in the actual house. For myself and many other players who prefer to keep the effects volume low so that fight effects aren't super noisy, this makes music boxes really soft or inaudible unless we turn the volume back up.

Switching the volume channel to 'music' instead of 'effects' would make it more intuitive and solve the problem for the most part, but if it's possible I'd suggest having a new volume slider just for music boxes. That way people who prefer to have music low/off for whatever reason but still want music box effects wouldn't be adversely affected either.

Hopefully this isn't too challenging to implement because I think it would greatly boost the functionality and appeal of music boxes. If you do a search for "music box" you'll see a couple of threads asking about no/little sound from music boxes which shows that this isn't an uncommon problem. Thanks :)

Trying to decide what to do.

Keep the seeds to save the dark Elf.

If we keep the seeds more potions can be made for others in future.
If we use the seeds we save one person.

Really puts me in conflict with the whole "Sacrifice 1 to save the many" or "Its not worth the cost if you have to sacrifice even one life."

Sooo thoughts? Advice?

The proc sets reenabled and health recovery nerfs has made it hard for for light armor wearers to defend against the insanely high stam damage in cyrodiil in this current update,

Revert the shield nerfs so that light armor builds have a chance to be competitive.

[BUG] Progress blocked on quest "Ripple Effect"

Hello,

I've searched a bit on the web trying to find a fix or workaround to this bug, but have come up dry - which is peculiar, because this is a progress blocking bug on an early main story mission.

In the quest Ripple Effect, given in Glenumbra Moors, I'm getting to the quest prompt "Talk to the Spirit of Alana," at wgich point I'm given a marker down in the crypt, but the NPC isn't appearing. It should be noted here that I'm doing this as a Cadwell's Gold quest point. I think this is important because I have made a couple of DC characters with whom I've completed this quest line without problem.
I've abandoned the quest, rebooted my game/system, and am still running into this problem.

Are any other AD (or EP) people running into this bug? Or any more ideas on trouble shooting? I'm bummed that it looks like I won't be able to finish my Gold journal.

Another Blackwood bug

In the area directly around Glenbridge in Blackwood my combat pets and companion keep spontaneously despawning. Restarting the game temporarily fixed it, but it started happening again when I came out of the Xanmeer after finishing the quest.

Is there any difference between companion weapon types?

As far as we see in menus, there's no functional difference between an axe, mace, or sword, or battleaxe, maul, or greatsword. They function the same.
I suppose the destruction staves have different elemental damage... but that's it.
am I wrong on this is there passives that are different for companion weapons?

You can even change the appearance to whatever 1h weapon you like it doesn't have to be what you equipped.

Looking for help with poison based DK

I have a bow/bow poison based DK.
Amour is 5 piece Swamp Raider, 5 piece Witch-Knight, 2 piece Velidreth and Perfected Maelstrom on back bar.
Front bar is Lethal Arrow (this is my spammable), Acid Spray (occasionally use this for trash mobs), Camouflaged Hunter, Barbed Trap & Molten Armaments.
Back bar is Poison Injection, Arrow Barrage, Noxious Breath, Venomous Claw & Echoing Vigor.

On a trial dummy, just rotating through my four back bar dots and Lethal Arrow spammable, my DPS is ~36K. This may be low but it's decent compared to what I can usually get across my toons.
What bothers me is what if I drop my dots and just weave my spammable, I get very nearly the same DPS.

Is the time the casting of the dots take away from my spammable just not worth their damage? Is there a way to make these dots work better for me?

Updates to Guild Trader Swap Times

Hi everyone!

Beginning on August 11th, we’ll be adjusting the date and time that Guild Traders make their weekly swap to coincide with some backend work going into Update 27. These new times will ensure we can fully monitor and react to any issues that may arise when the swap takes place. Below, you’ll find the new day and time when Guild Traders will switch over:

European (EU) megaserver: Tuesdays - 14:00 UTC, 10am EDT / 9am EST
  • 13:55 Tuesday UTC: All bidding and renting from the previous week will stop
  • 14:00 Tuesday UTC : Tabard of the selected vendor flips to new owners
  • 14:05 Tuesday UTC : All bidding and renting is opened up again for the following week

North American (NA) megaserver: Tuesdays - 19:00 UTC, 3pm EDT / 2pm EST
  • 2:55 Tuesday EDT: All bidding and renting from the previous week will stop
  • 3:00 Tuesday EDT: Tabard of the selected vendor flips to new owners
  • 3:05 Tuesday EDT: All bidding and renting is opened up again for the following week
Please note that during high usage, the process times listed may take a few extra minutes to complete.

What this means for the previous week: Traders will switch over normally on Sunday, August 3rd. Bids that take place after that will go towards a trader that will be awarded on the August 11th swap. That means Guilds will have traders for about 2 extra days following the August 3rd switchover. Once the August 11th switch over takes place, the traders will be back to the new Tuesday weekly cadence.

Note we will also be testing this time shift on the PTS, with August 4th being the first time it changes on that realm. If you are a GM of a guild on PC EU and would like to help us test, please post here and let us know.

How to level up Antiquities on second character?

From my understanding, there is 1 purple lead pr zone - which ive "used up" by leveling up antiquities on my first char. How would i approach leveling up my second char? I managed to get up to lvl 5 but from now on it gets tricky since i dont get purple leads.

Have i misunderstood something?
