Tank Ability Bar Setup Advice

$

So I've been going through and theorycrafting a helluvalot for my nightblade tank. The build I'm looking at right now is a hybrid build, lots of recovery, and I want to have some utility in there. I'll have max resistances after minor and major ward and resolve, good crit resistance for when I venture into PVP, and I plan on having a good amount of utility for overland exploration (which basically amounts to cloak and rapid maneuver), although I plan on mainly using the build for PVP dungeons. We'll see about trials, but I doubt it because 1. nightblade tank and 2. so far it's very selfish, and to that end not as specialized as a trials tank normally should be. I've pretty much decided the weapons to run are going to be one-handed and shield, and frost staff.

So anyway, I'm trying to set up my front and back bars. I have the abilities I think will best give me the utility I want, but since I kinda worked this from scratch I feel like I might be missing something. I also want to check on a few specifics, and balance out things to make me as survivable as possible. Which is the endgame - die as little as humanly (or khajiitly) possible.

So, I know I want Pierce armor for a 1H+Shield taunt and major fracture and breach, Shielded Assault for a leap-to-target and a damage shield, and Mirage for the minor resolve and ward and dodge change. I want Retreating Maneuver and Dark Cloak for utility and just running around overworld without getting caught up in the adds, and I can use cloak as a defensive pull when s*** goes down (judge me all you want, I can retaunt easily and it's saved a team wipe more than once before). I plan on using Reviving Barrier and Pack Leader to alternate stamina and magicka regen boosts, since I regen both quite quickly already, and barrier works well with all my damage shield buffs and quick ult regeneration so it's up quite often. I then have Elemental Blockade for enchant procs and an AOE slow, plus to grab aggro at the start of fights.

My problem lies with that I only have four more slots but several extra abilities that would help. Spiked Boneshield doubles up on my damage shields, but I'm not sure if it's worth it compared to some other abilities. Same thing with Absorb Magic, except it buffs my blocking instead of giving me damage shields. I like Immovable Brute, but I don't know whether I could switch it with Refreshing Path, which gives me 13 seconds less on major resolve and ward, but gives healing, does AOE damage, and gives a small in-combat movement speed buff. Swallow Soul and Structured Entropy would both give me some healing besides just damage shields, and would help generally with getting healed by a group healer, and Ring of Preservation seems great with minor protection, but I'm not sure if that would stack with other damage resists.

Anyway, all advice welcome.

Give ZOS some love, and some money!

First and foremost, Thankyou ZOS! I love to play ESO.

I've seen alot of hate directed toward the folks who keep the game running, ZOS.
I've written the following paragraphs to hopefully bring some perspective to those who feel that ZOS shouldn't be hungry for money.

On pay-to-win: I feel that one can view certain aspects of the game as Pay to Win, but I also feel that it is a very fine line. The imperial racial passives are unique and highly advantageous for a stamina-weapon=fighter build. A lowest level of pay player (the initial cost of their ESO account) can play for years and never have access to the content. Pay-to-win. The Warden Class is another example (and I argue the only other example) of pay-to-win.
Crown Scrolls and Crown motifs do not = pay-to-win. Crown Scrolls: Scrolls reduce the amount of grinding, necessarily the amount of time necessary to obtain EXP. Grinding is not a skill, it is not a unique ability; it is a highly repetitive task that is done to achieve a repetitive goal. The person who buys Crown scrolls is still grinding, they are only using hours they spent working in place of hours they spent playing. No unfair advantage is present.
'Some people don't have excess cashflow thus making it unfair to those who do not'. Some people don't have internet; every person with internet is inherently being unfair to those who do not have internet by applying this argument.

If you have access to a computer which can handle the graphics requirements for ESO and you have an internet connection that can handle the latency requirements for ESO, then, in my opinion, you are not in a situation where you are financially impaired. You may want something in-game that costs crowns, and not want to spend money on the crowns, but that does not equal "I can't buy crowns". What it says to me is "I will not budget to buy crowns".

SIDE NOTE: If you are a dependent, I.E. your folks are paying for your tech and your internet, I'm sorry kid. I begged my parents for spending money and occasionally got it; also I bought candy from Costco and Sams at discounted rates and sold it at school to get spending money. If you want money, there is (usually) an honest way to get it; just keep your eyes open.

On ZOS needing money: We enjoy a massive online game which necessitates heavy wear and tear on servers, constantly connected to the web, heavily monitored and protected from malicious attacks (hackers). Is ZOS Greedy? Sure. Would we be able to enjoy ESO as it is today if ZOS was not greedy? Certainly not. Greed is not a bad word.
I feel that ZOS could learn a lesson in profit by volume vs profit by unit, but at the end of the day, I understand and feel that the community should work harder to understand why ZOS charges so much for SWAG and tokens.

It is worth pointing out that ZOS does not offer buying instant level ups; they put thought into what they allow to be purchased by money instead of effort. I feel that ZOS should continue to innovate and expand upon what crowns can get a player.

As a gamer who is past his gaming prime, I appreciate the pay-for-fun aspects. Buying exp scrolls helps me regain the time I do not have to spend grinding for levels. I'm a working-person, and I can not achieve meaningful results from grinding alone (I buy exp scrolls). I have a family of 3 dependents who will not eat if I don't earn; to game is a luxury. I love ZOS for allowing me to continue enjoying the MMO scene even though I can't devote near as much time to it as I used to.

On that note, I believe ZOS would see an increase in spending on crown scrolls, motifs and tokens if they decreased the price of these items. I also believe that further inovation is necessary on what crowns can do for players.

First of all,

When is this being released? I needed this years ago.

Secondly, with the Sanctuary coming out, I think it'd be cool if we could have pathing NPC skeletons. Could either be target skeletons, or just 1k health skele's.

That is all

Some thoughts on the extremely popular ebonshadow style staff

Recently with the outfit system hitting the live server, now i no longer see that tons of mages wallking around with the same maelstrom style staff. Everyone gets many styles to choose from. And I notice something interesting. Wherever you go, some certain style of staff has become extremely popular as you can almost see them everywhere, even in some streaming, yes i am saying the ebonshadow one. When i come to design my outfit for my magsorc, i kind of understand why.
From my perspective, the reason i use this style is, it looks the largest, yes, all staff style has some decoration on the top while the ebonshadow being the largest. A bird opening its arms, waiting to strike its enemy , the lion of the daggerfall covenant is also cool but when you put the staff on your back, oops, it looks smaller, especially with a tall character which is very common in altmer. On contrary, the bird ( or eagle?) on the ebonshadow staff looks way much cooler as it is larger and thus clearer when you are in third person doing dungeons or just pvp. Some other staff is fine when previewing in outfit system but when you put it on your back or using magic with it, for the Eight, i am using a 2 hand weapon, not a small wooden stick to fire my spell!!
Therefore, i want to give some advice. Please give us ability on adjusting the size of our weapon, and if possible, on certain parts of our weapons. I can only speak for the staff users . i would be very much like to make the staff look longer and the decoration clearer. I dont want to see all ranged dps using the same look staff as it was before.

Smart Loot - Curse of Doylemish

We have had this discussion before in regard to Red Mountain and other sets so this should have already been looked at prior to releasing the new sets for the Dragon Bones DLC. The Curse of Doylemish specifically mentions Melee Heavy Attacks, why is this set dropping staffs and bows with no feasible way of using the 5 piece. Ideally this should be changed to Heavy Attacks whether it be ranged or melee. Will post pictures when I log in later this evening.

@ZOS_GinaBruno would you be so kind as to look into this.

Romantic Interest NPCs

Concerning the RPG part of MMORPG, what if the Writers provided a selection of Romanceable NPCs with new lines of Dialogue and even questlines that progress the relationship. A new game mechanic that allows the vestige to bond with an NPC, complete a personal story questline, and unlock special options such as making them a version of the Brotherhood Bequeather, or a special "Assistant" you can place in your house.

We already have lines of dialogue where the Vestige flirts, heavily, with Naryu. Thats a start.

Best and fancy armor and weps skins?

Its only me Who find game weps and armor skins so boring?
Yes, I know this is not fashion wars 2,but the dessigns we can see in other games are so Great...
You can do a fast search in Google to see images and art of armor and weapons, with shinny effects, big and original dessigns..

Maybe you can say this kind of skins is not good for eso inmersion, but then try to search gw1 armors, is an old game more similar than eso on graphics... And better dessigns.

What do you think? Do you want to see styles like these?

Is this normal for heists?

Hi.

I've been trying to do daily heists but in many cases I get some npc blocking me at the entrance: L2Z4EyZ.jpg

I looked him up on the uesp-wiki and it seems he's supposed to appear at the end of a heist? So I'm confused, is this a bug or is he working as intended? Also how do you get past him easily?

Thank you.

When do you give up on a PUG dungeon run?

Recapitulating my pledges yesterday, to see where other people would have bailed on the second group.
I'm runing my magicka sorcerer healer, and yes I am healing.

Tempest Island (normal), no problems, group damage is a bit low but the tank is solid and it's a smooth run, no deaths, and I got to see an alternate path up towards the peak.

Darkshade II, and from the first trash pack, I can see it's going to be a long slog of a run. Group dps is really low, the 'tank' is a dual wield/bow dps with no taunt and no crowd control, so mobs are just everywhere, the 'dps' are super squishy, and my ~8k dps (blockade, liquid lightning, and light attacks) is consistently 40-45% of group numbers. At most pulls, the dps and the tank are all trying to bravely take up positions behind me for lord only knows what reason. We actually wipe at The Fallen Foreman (I just let myself die when both dps died quickly and I wasn't able to get one up without the tank dying, and then the rezzed dps died again). Reset and we get through that, I'm consistently the only one rezzing both of the dps, Transmuted Alit takes forever because I don't think they understood the mechanics and kept focussing the low health member of the trio - had to pop a destro ult after about the 5th time one or two got back up. The Grobull fight is always a bit chaotic, but all of the other fights up till Engine Guardian I know from past experience can go a lot smoother; this time almost all of my healing was from twilight because most of the time I had a mob in my face and the dps were not in position where I could reliably hit more than one with springs/prayer .
At Engine Guardian, the dps are all over the place, we wipe, someone pulls again before i can explain any mechanism, and we wipe again. At this point finally we get to discuss the mechanics, I yell at them for consistent crappy dps, they yell at me for not healing ( I don't think anyone can heal the whole team through poison air if they are scattered all over the place) I tell them the cue for poison air (green color and the hiss) and one dps says "I can't see that color. I don't hear the hiss" and the other dps says he's playing with the audio off. I just tell them to stack on me, initiate a ready check, and they all ready...and then the one guy goes immobile for 3 minutes, eventually he says he's fixing his skill bars. We finally get through the third time, overall it took over an hour which is truly ridiculous. I probably should have bailed long before - I know that this can go much more smoothly.

I do mostly PUG dungeons as tank or healer, and yes, some of them are a struggle, but it usually goes well enough, and every so often you realize that there are actually a fair number of the same mechanics on normal that are on vet, they just aren't apparent until you have tragically low dps. I've only once actually bailed when it wasn't a team decision, but maybe I should more often. What's your threshhold for leaving?

Suggestion: Going rogue in PvP

Hey guys,

What do you guys think about an option that would allow you to go rogue in Cyrodiil? With that I mean you're able to attack anyone apart from your group members, but still fight players from every faction and other rogue groups. Lets discuss this a bit further:

Some mechanics that I think should be added with this option to make it fit in the game properly.
  • Once you set yourself as rogue, you'll only be able to effectively go rogue once you respawn OR you have to queue as rogue before joining Cyrodiil.
This will prevent people from turning rogue in the middle of a group and bombing them immediately, for example.
  • Rogue groups are unable to take keeps/objectives
This change should be made so the fluidity of AvAvA is not affected by these new groups
  • Rogue groups should be capped at a certain number, maybe 4 people?
Again, this is supposed to maintain the fluidity of AvAvA. Keeping rogue groups small will make it harder for them to stop siege lines or interrupting Alliance groups movement across the map.
  • Maybe allow players to go rogue to PvP with friends from other alliances.

What do you guys think? Let me know!

Thanks,

Quantum

Was it OK for ZoS to remove abilities purchased with collector's editions?

With the addition of the new outfit system, the collector's editions abilities to transform items in the field that resulted in an item being changed to a different style, and said item being deconstructable resulting in the possible acquisition of style stones from said item. has been removed FOR NO REASON.

ESO Stamblade 51.5K DPS 3mil [Dragon Bones]

Just wanted to share my first attempt at stamblade DPS this patch. I have no idea if my traits or CP are right so could possibly do better, also not played for a few months.

image

Notes
  • Gear: TFS, Warmachine, Kraghs, VMA bow, Poison back-bar, Axe/dagger setup (mechanical acuity instead of TFS for dungeons and trials is filthy deeps)
  • Blue resource food
  • Lover stone (Warrior stone for dungeon and trials is even more deeps)
  • CP I don't even know tbh, probably all in blessed
  • Sure you can use velidreth
  • All abilities used in the video would be what I would use in dungeons and trials, even the marked for death (pre-debuff, crit passives, healing and major berserk when target dies)
  • This build is very easy to sustain now, just do a few more heavy attacks than what you saw in the video and take synergies. The synergy patch made sustaining so so easy.
  • Infused axe with precise dagger. Nirnhoned bow.

What Are Fast Ways To Level Up?

Hello,

I love ESO a lot but I hate having to level up another toon from 1 - 50. Are there any efficient ways to level up new fresh toons? I hear that it can be done in like 4 hours but I do not have enough shekels to buy Mythic Ambrosias. I have ESO+ and can get Psijic Ambrosias though.

Thanks,

Zos get rid of bound on pick up.

I havent been playing that long and I just found out theres items locked behind vet dungeons and trials im not interested in doing and I cant even buy it at guild traders.

Ive been doing the work to try to master all crafts in hopes of being able to get enough gold to buy the items I want from the content I do not want to bother with. Apparently there was a time when it wasnt bound on pick up.

Zos stop trying to force people to do things they dont want to do. No wonder theres posts about fake tanks/healers/dps.
Except I dont want to be a jerk and ruin other peoples time by bringing my pvp character into a vet dungeon. Im not wasting gold to respec CP and morphs to pve.

And Im sure people who dont like pvp dont want to be forced to go to cyrodill or BG just to get any significant amount of transmutation crystals.
I doubt master crafters like the economy being nerfed because of bound on pick up.

People can decide for themselves how and what they want to play, they dont need a nanny state to ram content down their throats that theyre not interested in.

New Problem with PvP Cyrodiil Server (PC N/A)

Hello and Greetings.

So, I want to say the past week I have been having this issue. When I'm done with PvP in Cyrodiil at the end of my day, I log out. It goes on a counter and says clearly if I force quit I will remain logged in. I let the clock count down. As always, the start of my day when I log in, and specifically on the character I logged out with from cryo, I am usually back in Glenumbra or from where ever I queued into cyro to begin with.

I will do my normal routine, daily dungeon, level up mount, writ crafting, Then I will queue into Cyrodiil for some PvP.

However that said, the new problem I am running into and I wanted to post just incase it's having some kind of impact, but when I log in at the start of my day, I'm still in cyrodiil.

That never happened to me before. And now that a whole week of this happening I'm wondering why I'm still logged into the pvp server instead of being logged out like before.

Master writs that just re not worth it.

Don't you hate when you get that new master writ and you see it calls for that elusive BA motif that will cost you an arm and a leg…maybe a kidney too.
Then you see that the writ is only for 5 vouchers……
yeah that can collect dust in my bank

When Do the New Crown Crates Come out?

Really? A Crow Cheat in Cyrodiil!!!!??? Serious? WHAT?

Hello and good day.

So, pretend for a moment I'm new at this. This past month I have noticed while a lot of people are fighting in Cyrodiil PvP they have been making these odd sounds. Oh I don't know, duck, crow, something kind of odd, very odd chip/squak! So in anycase just yesterday I was fighting a few enemies in cyrodiil and managed to kill all but one and my resources ran out and had no choice but to pop off immovable (potion) which helped turn me invisible while I waited for my stam and magicka to regen, and oh look what do you know because this dude could not find me, he used a crow that flew right at me even though he was away and facing another direction and the crow hit me, took me out of stealth, which helped him finish me off.

First off it's bad enough fighting 5v1. Ask anyone, they love doing that, but god forbid its you that have 5 people and kill one of them because here comes the hate tells in whispers.

So, pretend I'm brand new to this game. WHAT .... THE ......FFFFFFF....... is this crow thing people are now using in Cyrodiil to take you out of stealth?

Stealth in this game in the past few days has become a real problem but I really really , really want to know what the heck this crow thing that targets you in stealth and takes you out of it and why it's allowed in cyrodiil pvp areas? Because I have never seen it until now.
