[Homestead] Magika DK PvP Build Discussion

$

I have always had best results running a damage set (BSW, Sun, Rattlecage) and a sustain set (Desert Rose, Lich, Magika Furnace, Warlock, Seducer, Magnus). Before this patch, I was certain that Desert Rose + BSW + a monster set is by far the best combination. I have had great results running that build but post-patch I don't think I can achieve the same things. After the Desert Rose nerfs, I am struggling to find a build that would be close in effectiveness to the old one.

I think BSW is still the best damage set. The gap between it and Sun has even increased because stuff like Coag don't scale off fire damage and thus do not get increased power, where as from BSW it does.

The real question is what to pair up BSW up with. The question becomes even more complex when you look at light vs. heavy armor. Previously, I would have said heavy armor is clearly superior. However, with the nerf to Wrath, nerf to proc sets (less likely to get one-shot), and Coag scaling with spell damage/max magika, light armor could potential be a better option.

What do you guys think?

Homestead PvP Glitch: Invisible Enemies

Hello there,

So after playing in Cyrodiil for 10mins after my patch finished downloading I found this wierd bug. Some hostile players are invisible, they can hit you and you can see their skills but you can't see them. This happened in 2 cases...

1. I was in a tower and started getting Wrecking Blowed and crit rushed by an invisible enemy.
2. Near Arrius Lumbermill I was fighting a magicka templar and I could clearly see his Radiant Destruction and I could see a sorc fraging him, yet I could not see the player itself (I recorded this one).

@Lee.sinz has also experienced this issue as we've been talking about it!
I can link recordings if it's requested, as I need to shorten them a bit beforehand.

Thank you very much,

Quantum

UPDATE 1: Several people have been reporting this issue in zone chat... apparently it's a common issue.

The Ludophiles Guild - friendly community - everyone welcome!

Hi there!

We are a small but established community that has started a guild about a month ago. The guild is called "Ordo Ludophilia", based on the EU server and currently has ~40 active members (logged in in the last 24 hours).

Trying to make it short here's the tl,dr "fact sheet"
  • PC, European Megaserver, originally based on Ebonheart Pact but players of any alliance welcome, after One Tamriel anyway
  • friendly, mature community, easy-going and fun-orientated
  • anyone welcome, from newbie to veteran, from casual to hardcore, from anywhere in the world
  • any playstyle possible, from playing "solo" with a couple of guild benefits to being the "community manager", from casually dropping in for some quests and chat to taking the lead in a PvP raid schedule
  • own dedicated website, partnered Discord (completely optional to join), partnered Twitch channel, YT channel and more
  • originally a group of 'content creators'/wiki peeps/admins/etc enjoying the productive side of gaming that thought it would be a good idea to do everything as a team

We'd be really happy for veterans who want to try something new to join us and shape the guild, and of course we'd be equally happy for new players to join us. As the guild is brand new any role is vacant and any direction can be taken.

Interested in joining? Questions? Just let us know, post in this thread, send a pm, say hi on Discord (really, don't be shy, just say hi, and ignore the weird chat ;) )

Tanking with Vampire Cloak or Plague Doctor?

$

Ok, just started tanking trials. I made a 5 piece Tavas (weapon, shield, chest, legs, boots) with Bloodspawn (shoulders, head) and would like everyone's opinion as to which of the 2 sets in the subject line should I use as the secondary 5 piece. I know that Footman is a good set, but will need the drops first before equipping it. That goes for Ebon as well, as I know this set is needed but the jewelry only drops in Mal. Dragon is another set that is luck of the drop and is never on sale at market carts.

Plague Doctor gets me to 39k in health with 25k in magicka with a 4% increase to healing recieved.
Vampire Cloak only gets me to 32k health, 33k in magicka, but gives me a permanent 8% damage reduction.

Which would you use until you can get the other more preferred sets, and why would you use them?

All feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Sorry, edit for some info. 480 DK magicka tank.

WRONG FEEDBACK SOURCE Streamers don't represent most players

$

ZOS Focuses way too much on the feedback of elite "celebrity" gamers while they roundly ignore player consensus and feedback on the forums as a matter of course. It's a problem.
Original Post Below:
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Apparently, right now, a select elite of ESO youtubers like Sypher and Deltia, etc are meeting in person with Zenimax after being invited to the headquarters.

While these youtubers provide a service with their content, they hardly represent the ESO player base neither formally nor informally. They most often represent each other. They represent a micro-industry that operates along side ESO. If anything in-game, they represent a small minority of elite guilds that don't experience ESO like the rest of us and are not good representatives.

Please allow me to explain and provide examples.

PvP: I'm not suggesting any of the specific youtubers or "celebrity players" cheat (although some do and have been banned for it), but they also don't experience playing against cheating, or even against OP players, in the same way. Members of this class of ESO players avoid combat with each other. Many of the known cheaters in this game belong to the same guilds as these elite celebrity ESO players. That doesn't mean the celebrity youtubers are cheating, but it usually means the cheaters don't fight against them. This results in this group having an unrealistically casual viewpoint on cheating as something more benign than it is.

Exploits/Secrets: And exploiting game glitches is the cousin of cheating. Things that aren't working as intended, but are unlikely to get you banned, are passed around as open-secrets within the group and become staples of builds, but are not shared publicly because they don't want them fixed.

Here are two examples of fixed exploits that people weren't getting banned for, that I think I can provide since they no longer work.

1) You could double enchant Flanking Set jewelry with a total of 6 jewelry glyphs instead of 3.
2) You could glitch out Hist Bark set to give a dodge bonus even after you took the set off.

So while you were making the hard choices about how to enchant your jewelry, some players were not. When you were spending 3000 stamina to cast Shuffle, or wearing 5 pieces of Hist Bark, others were dodging with neither.

I'm not accusing anyone of doing these things, but I know the people who did do these things are embedded within that small community. So, at it's most benign, this colors the feedback and impressions of the players in that community which are passed on to Zos as apparently about the only feedback they are actually interested in.

Powercreep: Even if none of the youtube celebrity player cheat, or exploit, or take advantage of tricks....the higher ceiling of performance that is enjoyed on average in these communities is exacerbating the power creep problem in this game. Members of this sector of the community are always the first to say, "This game offers me no challenge. VMA is too easy. This is too easy. That is too easy".

Balancing: Their opinion of balance rarely reflects the community because they rarely face players utilizing abilities to their maximum effectiveness due to the fact that players within this class avoid fighting each other. This is the only game I've ever played where friends cannot play against each other. I've had several of the people I consider members of this niche group actually tell me point blank, "Friends don't kill each other in PvP. I'll give you a pass and you give me a pass. Stop fighting against me or I'm taking you off friends list".

Instead of two great players with great builds fighting each other and learning that certain abilities are indeed out of balance, they pass by each other, high-fiving one another as they farm the pugs from each others alliances and convince themselves that the game is perfectly balanced but THEY are individually "Gods of PvP".
These players don't have experiences in the game that would allow them to adequately represent the larger player base.

The resources were used to have this elite youtube gathering session at Zenimax would have been better spent reading the forums, selecting a few issues with broad community consensus, and then having an internal meeting on how to best address those concerns. But that's too much to hope for.

Yes, I'm painting with a broad brush. There are exceptions to every rule and I'm not trying to disparage anyone specifically. I don't blame anyone for accepting the invitation. This is a rebuke of how Zos operates.

I subscribe to Deltia's channel, I like his content, and his personality. But I don't like him as a representative of ESO players.

If you like their videos, that's fine. If you run their builds, that's great. If you think I'm full of crap, that's okay. And Zos can invite whoever they want on a sleepover.
But, if you've ever wondered why this game is balanced around the top 1% of players and the roleplayers being bought off with mount reskins with everyone in the middle ignored, THIS IS WHY.

How many have invested so much time and money on ESO that they start to feel just a tiny bit worried that the devs can no longer deliver what's expected from the best MMOs today?

So, I've been saving my crowns and eagerly anticipating the release of Homestead dlc so I could buy the advertised Earthtear Cavern, but it's not available for purchase at this time.

When will Earthtear Cavern be available for purchase? ....I'm assuming the other two notable, crown store exclusive estates are also unavailable at this time. When will these properties be available for purchase?

Currently working on a build, tried to take it PvP last night and got wrecked. Bow seemed to be the only thing that saved me. Does anyone have advice for a true assassin i n Cyrodil or can it just not be done?

Works okay in PvE. I may have to rethink my virtual life choices of killing the innocent all for the profit of a few measly Septims...

Talk me into tanking on anything

Hey guys, so I am looking to start a completely new character with the intent to tank in Veteran dungeons, MAYBE trials, and MAAAAYBE Veteran Maelstrom Arena. I was planning on trying a Wood Elf Stamina Templar Tank, but I got him to level 15 and it seemed that the resource regeneration was almost non-existent, even with Champ points into Mooncalf for stam regen and 2 points into the wood elf regeneration racial. I am looking for something that will be viable tanking in ONLY crafted sets as well, if possible (although I don't actualy "roleplay" per se, I do think the characters armor is a huge part of how I feel about the game and am immersed). Another requirement would be that it would HAVE to use 5 heavy armor at the least.

That said, can somebody help me out? I need a character I can feel right about doing all content with. I don't care which class, I have tried all on tanking except for Sorcerer and Nightblade. Another point to make is that I would like the character to be an Orc.

Most rare class/race combinations that you never see.....but can still make a good build?

What are the most rare race and class combinations that you never see....but can still make a good build. Be creative.

My list:

1. Orc Stamina Sorcerer Tank/DPS - Crazy speed and a lot of melee damage

2. Argonian Magic Templar Tank - I watched an excellent video of a veteran tank player explaining in detail how Argonians are a top tier tank in the game. He explained that many people think Nord out perform Argonians but the 6% damage reduction was not as much as people thought. He also explained how underestimated the "Resourceful" racial passive is.

Woeler's video:

3. Breton Magic Nightblade Healer/Tank - Lots of magic with reduced magic cost....and can use spell resistance when switching to tanking.

4. Altmer Magic Dragonknight Healer - You'd get a lot of magic and magic recovery for healing and still have the option to switch to flame damage

I bought the home and of course she can move items around but not place her own. Maybe they should make it so that if we both wear our rings of mara we can both make it our primary residence or something, I dunno. It's just kinda frustrating that we have to have different homes when we were looking forward to decorating together

I love the new system. I love decorating my house, and I look forward to decorating many more. (Including a Mushroom Tower on Vvardenfell? Who can say!)

Between this and the wealth of DLC that has come out over the last year and change, the game feels so much more complete than it did at launch. Between this and 1T, it feels like a living breathing world. Well done ZOS, you finally dragged me away from FFXIV for good.

Currently ESO may not work via Steam purchase

Bought ESO Gold Edition on Steam today (Friday February 10th).

- Purchase went through.

- Downloaded / Installed the game. Allowed it to patch to full.

- Launched game and got to selection screen of New to Elder Scrolls Online or have Existing Account. Selected New.

- Created account (Account name is Tevox.Wake). Received confirmation etc.

- Try to play the game but cannot get past "Requesting Login" from in game (the screen just before character lobby screen)

- Tried verifying local data files within Steam / reinstalling / re-downloading / reinstalling Steam client.

- Tried using someone else's ESO account on different Steam account but same machine, and was able to login with no problem.

- In my account page of The Elder Scrolls Online (using browser) it says I have no game linked to my account.

- Requested a refund through Steam.

Since I was able to get into the game on the same machine by using another person's ESO account also through stream, I can only assume this is a recent problem (after homestead patch) and that ZOS has done something to the user accounts system with steam accounts / purchases.

I've already requested my refund via Steam, this is really just to let ZOS know that there's an issue (pretty bad one since you can't play the game), and also a heads up for anyone else thinking of buying through Steam. It may not happen every time, but it does happen.

List of Issues with Homestead Live - Ongoing

I'm having some issues with Homestead on the live server. I will be editing this as I or my friends experience issues.
1. I can't lower the subsampling level. It says medium on the graphics panel, but it shows up as high.
2. Crashing more frequently now. I'm used to crashing at a normal rate, but now it's just outrageous. Maybe once every hour to 2 hours, now more frequent than that.
3. Constant high ping spikes and lower FPS than usual, even in dungeons or instances.
4. -MAJOR ISSUE- Friend cannot buy house (large redguard house) even though he has enough gold and have done the required achievements.

Feel free to add any additional issues you guys are experiencing.
