Homestead is just really sad

When I saw the YouTube videos of Alcast stacking boxes into the sky

and of Sypher trapping people in his house

I expected that we could get creative with Homestead. We could have fun building stuff, like in Minecraft. Sadly that's far from the truth.

What did we get? Endless grinding and small-minded limits on the number of items in our homes. Far from creative and fun, this game is a version of keeping up with the Jones'.

Guildhall Duelling Arena! With minimal costs.

With so many people complaining how they have only a chair in their mansion, I wanted to show what can be achieved with minimal access to more premium furniture.
Me and my guild made this big arena in the garden of our guildhall for which we used mostly stuff from Home Goods Furnishers. The walls, for example, are from stone slabs each of those merchant sells and the wooden stage is made of platforms you can buy at the Rawl Kha furnisher.

We built the whole thing over again several times to optimize it, but we're pretty happy with the result for now. We expect that of course we will be adjusting a lot when we get our hands on more appropriate furniture.
So far I think we've spent about 25k on the arena (stone slabs only cost 100g each), with exception of the lighting and the throne, cause these were achievement furniture that sells for around 35k.
Below is a video that shows the whole thing, btw. (I wish I knew how to embed vids in this forum to make your life easier, sadly I can't figure it out).

I've just about given up on trying, as this has gotten to the point where I'm watching and hoping for it to load.
i72600 3.4GHz
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 1070 8GB RAM

Plenty of free space, 1TB HD.

Back in 2014 I was on a GTX 560 Ti with only 8GB RAM, and still using the i7 2600, and had load times of a few seconds, hell, before Homestead my game would STILL LOAD on the 1070. This isn't a video card problem or a processor problem. This is a bad programmers problem.

So what was your character doing before they were sacrificed and found themselves in coldharbour. Maybe they were about to pull off a theft that would have been worth thousands. Or you had just sat down with your first mead of the day? Or...

I was stealing stuff and an NPC called me a "son of a dog". I mean, really? How old are we? Five? What's with this fear to use some vulgar language that fits the scene?

If I caught someone stealing my stuff, the last thing I would call them is a "son of a dog"...

Against my better judgment, I will give this one last go. I believe that, for the most part, the discussions have been fun and enjoyable. I feel that I've gotten to know some people on other factions a bit, and it is cool being killed by someone you recognize! :) Anyway, let's stick to talks of builds, funny stories (like the time I got jumped by 8 AD as I rode across the bridge and they bashed me to death as I fell out of my chair laughing), map strategy, which in game snacks you prefer, and of course... Ice trebs.

Is it just me or is the ability to move things closer or away very limited now compared to what it was during the PTS? I only played during the first few weeks of testing so I'm not sure if it was changed after EU was published. Unfortunately, I find this is very frustrating as I am unable to place some furniture correctly and seem to be fairly limited on what I can do now.

What Situations Need A Bow?

I've just unlocked my weapon swap ability on my Nightblade, and was considering using Dual Wield + Bow. Although I can't really figure out any good times to use the bow, so I'm just melee'ing everything.

Does the bow become more useful towards higher levels/endgame, and in what kind of situations would it be more optimal to use the bow as opposed to dual wield? Perhaps something like dual wield for single target and bow for aoe?

Thanks.

Maelstrom Arena does not need to be nerfed

I would like to start off by saying that I really enjoyed Vet Maelstrom. It took me a very long time to build up enough courage to go back in there and push on forth. I have 3 characters 1 stamina nightblade, 1 magicka sorcerer, and 1 magicka templar. The only one that has gear that is up to par is my Nightblade. As you can clearly tell if you have ever done veteran maelstrom on a stamina nightblade it is very difficult. I died so many times when I first began the quest like 6 months ago and I was very hesitant to go back in there. I wanted to put my head through my wall because I was so furious. I wish I had not made my stamina nightblade my main character because I don't hunt for achievements on my other characters and there are some things that I feel like I am not capable of doing. Look at a stamina dragonknight for example. They can pretty much face roll their way through any content in the game. I don't want to be running trials on a stamina build though. Magicka is the best and mainly a Magicka sorcerer is the best. If I would have known any better I would have not waited so long to just start farming gear pieces for my sorcerer. But of course there are some things that takes way too much effort to obtain that, and I don't play those characters enough. Moving on...

I would not have went back into Maelstrom to complete it if a friend of my that was absolutely terrible at this game 4 months ago completed it and is now farming weapons. After some time I started looking up forms that complains about the difficulty, way before I even met her, to feel a sense of relieving the frustration after I have died so many times. I did this because it made me feel better knowing that there were thousands of people in the same situation. BUT that doesn't mean that is how it should be. I am making this post to give a bit of motivation to anybody that wants to QQ about the difficulty. I read a post about 2 months ago that was about maelstrom arena not being for everyone. To be honest that's like freaking saying that cooking or playing an instrument is not for everyone. That's why people tell you to L2P. It's simply because getting good at something takes time and practice. Just because you cannot beat it now does not mean that you will never be able to beat it, ever.

Azura's Star NA PC Thread

$

Azura's Star is the non champion point campaign for all factions. I recall when it first came out and how people avoided it because of the "I have worked to get my champion points why shouldn't I get to use them" argument. While I will admit that champion points are hard earned and certainly give your character more staying power and more firepower I will contend that, in my opinion, using Champion Points is not a positive reflection of how PvP in TESO was originally designed. I have over 540 champion levels and am not at a disadvantage in any of the CP based campaigns. Most of my guild mates are also over the 501 threshold.

However, Einherjar (a multi gaming community of friends that has been playing MMOs together for over 14 years now - yes 14 years now), has found that the Non Champion point Cyrodil is more akin to the original PvP in TESO we all fell in love with. It's not for everyone. The 1vX crowd will not find this server to their liking. However, it is a place to find unreal group V group combat and to enjoy group based activities. Groups as small as 5 can be extremely combat effective and can earn loads of AP on Azura's Star.

All of this being said - when Einherjar first got lured to Azura's Star - by our good friend Mrs. Jones (many of you know him hate him or love him he is a friend to EHJ) we found a completely yellow dominated server with a massive presence of Aldmeri Dominion soldiers. We had found a place to fight numbers far greater than ourselves and to hone our combat skills in this new environment that really does require awesome co-ordination and group synergy to be successful. Especially against larger numbers as your resource pools are lower - and your regen rates are much lower. We fought and fought - and eventually wore down the AD zerg. We pushed them to their gates and owned the server - coming back from an 8 thousand point deficit and winning the campaign on our DC characters. Through all this it was essentially a 2 faction campaign. My guild, another small DC guild and a bunch of DC newer players versus a horde of Aldmeri Dominion that sometimes numbered 50-60 strong. Ebonheart had essentially zero presence and to this day has limited participation in the campaign gaining the low pop bonus here.

So my guild decided that it would be a good idea to make a real effort at creating a balanced campaign. One that is fun for all factions. We hail back to the days of Wabbajack and other large campaigns as well as some of the smaller campaigns that were competitive and fun for everyone. We really want that to be the case on Azura's Star. We rolled Ebonheart Characters and with the recent change to leveling found the process fairly simple. We spent our first night on Azura's last night - most of us with key abilities not leveled up and missing core abilities gained from Alliance Ranks and Mages / Fighters / Undaunted guild levels. We did fairly well reaping 250K AP in about 3 hours of play time never going above 12 people in our group.

To that end: We are looking for a strong - but not essentially huge - DC guild to come and fight us and the AD on the server. We are looking for any Ebonheart players looking for a new home to have fun and compete in PvP the way I believe the game was meant to be played to come and join us on Azura's Star. We want a 3 way fun and competitive campaign - but we cannot do that without more players from DC and more players from EP. I am not talking about turning the campaign into the next mega zerg server. The lag free environment is one we enjoy and want to stay that way. However, it cannot be a fun three way battle without more willing combatants from EP and DC.

I am found quite easily in game if you want to ask me any questions about the differences between the non CP and the CP camps. I have spent loads of time in all of them. I am happy to share experience and tips about how to setup / gear your toons. We want good fights - respectable fights - fun tells between frenemies. We want YOU to come and help us bring a balanced and fun campaign option to Azura's!!

See you all out there.

[NA][UPDATED] The Nightshade Consortium ~ New Solo-Player-Oriented Guild Now Recruiting!!!

$
0
0
The Nightshade Consortium is a guild focused on and designed with the Solo Player in mind! Tired of being hassled or forced by other Guilds to Group when you'd rather just roam around in peace? Tired of forced Guild Dues used to enrich the Guildmaster? Tired of being forced to listen to the nagging chatter by having Guild Requirements that make you stay in Guild Chat when all you want is a peaceful night of ESO? Sick of other Guilds forcing the "social" aspect by requiring you to join their websites and/or Facebook pages (a personal peeve of mine...), thus taking you out of the game, and forcing you to post on third party websites in order to talk to the Guild leadership?

If you're fed up with all of that, then you need to be in The Nightshade Consortium!

As I said in the title, this is a brand new Guild, and members are needed!

We want to be a place where Gamers in ESO can meet great new people, and take on whatever content they like with Guild members always available to do it with, at your own pace and time! To be fair, this Guild is oriented for and friendly to the Solo player, and one does not have to group if one does not want to. We won't ever hassle someone who loves a Solo/Lone Wolf play-style. So if you're a Solo player/Lone Wolf, and are only looking for rare Groups for tough content, or just a place to sell some excess junk every so often, then we can accommodate that as well. :D

The Vision for the Guild:

This is mainly a Guild that is supremely friendly to the Solo player. I want a Guild where there's enough members that players don't have to feel bad for playing Solo, but there's enough Guildies available that the Solo players can Group when they want/need to Group for whatever content they're facing. I want a Guild where the Solo players and Lone Wolves have a place to return to, to sell of their excess junk and regale the rest of us with their stories of adventure. I want a Guild with enough members that this guild becomes known as a force of nature across Tamriel. I want a Guild of casual, mature, easy-going Gamers who just want to band together so that every Guild member can have as much fun as possible while exploring all that ESO has to offer.

With you and your friends in The Nightshade Consortium, I know that we can build that Guild.

For PvP:
I want to have enough members that we can do PvP if anyone wants to, but again; this is a Guild that is actually friendly to the Solo player, where there's Guild members to group up with on those rare times that a Solo player wants/needs to have/find a Group.

For PvE:
Much the same as the PvP section, I want there to be enough of a presence that our Guild members don't ever have to use the "finder" tools to run Trials/Group Dungeons or any such nonsense. When there are enough members, I will take volunteers to be a "Trial Leaders" or "Dungeon Leaders", who will volunteer their time to lead our Guildies through the associated content. Same goes for regular Questing or Skyshard hunting. While there might not be "leaders" for Questing and/or Skyshard hunting, I do want there to be enough of a presence and population in the Guild, that no one will have to do it Solo if they don't want to. There will always be Guild Members on who can help or group with them. Again; if a player just loves going at the game Solo, that will not ever be frowned on in this Guild. We are, after all, Solo-player oriented. If you like Solo/Lone Wolf play, we won't hassle you incessantly to Group up. But again, if you just want someone or a whole Group of people to run around and Quest or go Dungeon Delving with, I want there to be plenty of Nightshade Consortium members available so that we can chill and knock out the amazing PvE content in ESO, and we can do it together.

For Trading:
THERE WILL NEVER EVER BE ANY GUILD DUES!!!! This Guild runs off of donations entirely, and off of the cut the Guild gets for what gets sold through our future Trader; the Guild Members donate according to what/where they want to see the Guild move. So please, donate freely and we can get some great stuff purchased for this Guild! Bring your friends! The Consortium is now at 50+ members!!! We have a Guild Store now so that we can sell items to our fellow Guildies, and we're taking donations so that we can hopefully hire a Guild Trader!

Most Trade Guilds run raffles on a weekly basis. This requires a ton of work on the Guild Officer running the raffle, and is not really an attractive method of Gold generation for a Guild in my opinion. Thus, unless there are many requests for a raffle, The Nightshade Consortium will not be hassling all you beautiful people to fork over your hard-fought-for Gold to fund a raffle. That's another promise I make to you! No Raffle-Hassles/Raffle-Spam-Mails! :D

*** Plus, every rank can access the items in the Guild Bank. Our Guildies deposit items that other members may need to use for research, and armor upgrade, or that Ring or Necklace that helps out a build, and all ranks are free to take whatever items they need as they need them! All we ask is that you try to replace what you take with an item of equal value, or a fair Gold donation. This is on an honor system, so we trust that the members of The Nightshade Consortium are mature enough to keep from abusing this and/or outright stealing from their fellow Guildies. ***

For the RP player:
I've kind of been toying around with setting this Guild up as a sub-sect within the Dark Brotherhood, but it's your RP. RP your characters along whatever storyline you choose, and recruit your whole RP Troupe! The more, the merrier; and you'll always be assured to have someone on to help advance your characters' stories!

Housing:
If the majority of the Guild wants to use the Guild funds to buy one of the Manors, then we will have a dedicated discussion among the members about that subject. But seeing the abysmally small Player Caps to the offered Houses, we'd have to buy 2+ Manors just to house the whole Guild, and that's not very cost-worthy for any Guild right now. So unless ZOS changes the Housing player caps, or updates the Housing to allow for full Guild Halls, The Consortium has no current plans to purchase any of the Houses offered when the Housing update hits Xbox.

But none of those ideas will ever come to fruition if you don't join!

Come to The Nightshade Consortium!!! Bring your friends!!!

Help us grow into one of the strongest Guilds in all of ESO!!!

(Leave your GT in the Comments, and I'll send you a Guild Invite! Invite will come from Vampire Nox)

*** Also: When leaving your GT for an invite, you must give me your EXACT Gamer Tag as it appears on Xbox LIVE. Otherwise the ESO invite system won't be able to find your account in order to deliver the invite! ***

What's better to run on Stam DK 2h and?
