This price seems okay i guess and somehow zenimax needs to finance their excellent pvp servers. I mean who can resist that offer it even comes with a coupon.

Avast Blocks ESO - eso64.exe IDP.Generic

Anyone having the same issue? Avast keeps detecting eso64.exe as IDP.Generic (Malware).

Before you ask; no, my local game files were not affected by any kind of malware or corrupted in any way. It even happened right after repairing the game client(having eso64.exe back again). I've sent a false positive report to avast and I had to whitelist Zenimax Online folder to be able to play the game. jtsefl8a6ky6.jpg

Neither magic or stamina are penalized so harshly. They should either get rid of defile effecting health regeneration or they should have it apply to magic/stamina regeneration. This is just bad on principle.

There is an abundance of good armours out there at the moment and I'd like my new stam DK to try using something other than 7th legion and Fury.

I quite like the nice, balanced brawler style of fighting (yes, 7th Legion and Fury would be ideal. But its not happening. So there...)

Yo -

Am I wrong that the typical rotation is -

LA - Curse - LA - Reach - Meteor - LA - Wrath - LA Frags?

I'm starting to think that it's to easy to read and have been having success with:

LA - Curse - LA - Meteor - Roll Dodge Cancel Reach - LA - Wrath - LA - Frags

Or do you all switch it up depending on whether or not they are reading you?

Thanks,

What is a fair price for Crowns?

Since Crown gifting became a thing a certain Discord group has sort of insinuated themselves as the go-to standard for gold trading. From what I understand, this group charges a 5% fee for essentially facilitating, which is fine, however I feel that the price they are trying to set as the standard (225g per Crown) is a bit high considering the average time equivalent to earn gold.

As I see it, the whole purpose of allowing people to trade gold for Crowns is to avoid burnout of customers who play the game and even pay a monthly sub but can't always come up with extra disposable income during the sometimes 5-day or less window for limited time offers of things they would really like to have. Being able to spend gold on these things gives them another avenue to not miss out, which is awesome.

The main problem I have with the 225g per crown price point is the time equivalent for how much gold it would take to buy the average special whatever on the store. Lets take the average price of motifs as an example. Some go for 4k crowns, some as high as 6k, but the average for a new motif seems to be around 5k crowns. At 225g per crown it would cost 1 million 125 thousand gold to make this purchase through the 'official' Discord guild.

* The price of 5k crowns (not on sale) is $39.99 USD. This is about 2-3 hours work at a minimum wage job.

* The average time to make over a million gold in-game can be well over a MONTH for the average player.

Obviously this will be a problem once people blow through their initial reserves of disposable gold they have saved, as setting the price that high means the whole purpose of gifting, giving people an alternative means of not missing cool limited time things, will have been largely defeated, since the average player will not be able to keep up earning enough gold for more than maybe one such purchase per month, and even then only if they are diligent about doing dailies on many alts and really making an effort to spend their game time making gold, which most really won't be interested or able to do.

So, what I would like to suggest is an alternate price point more in line with the time investment required to earn gold. What many of my guilds and people I know in-game have come up with is between 150g-180g per Crown. We have had many 10's of thousands of Crowns transacted at these rates and both parties have always come away satisfied.

I get that some people are willing to pay more for a little added security, but I still feel that 225g is pretty steep given the average rate of earning gold. AVERAGE rate, not guild store hero spend all day flipping trades rate. :p

I feel that just like in real world economics, the danger of having only one 'standard' outlet is that prices end up being set too high.

At 150g per crown, that 5k motif would cost 750 thousand gold. So, less than 3 hours at a minimum wage job for probably a couple weeks worth of gold.

This to me seems much more fair. But I would be interested to see where the community stands on this.

Rune Cage, bug or technique?

So on PS4 I noticed rune cage can land rather effectively if I actually cast it on someone already dodging. So prompting a dodge then casting rune cage has been effective for me. Not sure if it is latency, a bug, or working as intended but timing the grace or tell period of rune cage for the end of the dodge roll has greatly increased the effectiveness of rune cage for me.

Several are in my outfit station.

Am I right in saying if they’re in there they are available to farm? Ie bloodspawn is showing in there so I can farm for it.

I got shadowrend on one run. Now since troll king was in crown store I haven’t been lucky. Now the same with bloodspawn.

I’ve always wondered why they say for example, “dealing 1300 Physical Damage every 0.4 seconds for 1.2 seconds. This effect can occur once every 3 seconds.”

Why not just state a total ? Does 3900 every 3 sec...

Its like every piece has this. Does 986 damage every 3 seconds for 6 seconds. Just put the total amount.

Good PVP'ers vs. Bad PVP'ers

I've noticed something that has been a plague on PVP games in the last 15 years that I've been playing them that I think is utterly hysterical, as follows:

Many of the players of today that believe they are great PVP'ers do not actually fight the best opponents in open world PVP. This is common in not just ESO, but in games like WoW, EVE Online, Aion, etc. Essentially, what occurs, is a similar form of what we used to use clans / guilds for back in the day. I'll use a comparison of my 1st experience in a PVP game, with Lineage2 vs. my current experience in MMO's through the lens of ESO.

Lineage 2 - 15 Years ago.

In this game, gear grinding was insane, to have a B grade weapon (weapons scaled to S) you basically had to have been playing for almost 2+ years, at level 55+ grinding out 10% XP in a day required about a 12 hour investment, when you got to level 65+ it was basically 12 hours to make around 5%.

The penalty of death was 2-3% XP, and if you died in PVP and it wasn't a clan war and you were near level cap you were basically losing the last 12 hours of your XP grinding every time you died. Also, if you ganked someone who didn't want to fight, you received Karma which needed to be worked off slaying monsters, your name was red and you had a significant risk of dropping your gear if someone killed you while you had karma. Dropping something like a weapon would set you back at least a year.

This is what guilds were built and predicated on. You wanted to maximize individual gain and minimize losses by surrounding yourself with quality players and working as a team to accomplish very difficult goals. This encouraged teamwork between the best players, setting aside of ego, and created a natural hierarchy in the game in which the best players formed an alliance, managed the castles they won, and made it possible for the people who were playing in the zones they owned the castles of an opportunity to make significant in game currency (very rare) if the alliance managed the seeding process properly.

The best players were also the best PVP'ers. You needed to defend your grinding area's (TOI - Tower of *** I forgot the name) grinding angels was a hotly contested spot, and many times when we were at war with another clan we would fight over the opportunity to grind experience in these area's for hours on end. The best players were constantly fighting the best players for the best grinding spots.

ESO - Current Day

In this game, gear grinding is very easy. Some of the best gear is easily crafted and the stat bonuses from gold jewelry / gear is very minimal, you can be a very competent player in epic purple attire. Grinding XP is so easy that we have over 810 champion point levels. You can play casually and still be very competitive.

The penalty for death is almost totally non-existent. You don't need to repair your gear, the only thing you suffer is a respawn and having to run back to the fight. You will never lose something you worked for.

Guilds are now built and predicated on their ability to do specific things well (Trials) or are primarily social gathering places, with no hierarchy of who the best players are, and very little reason to set aside ego or differences to accomplish a greater goal, because no greater goal actually exists. I should note, this isn't the case for trading guilds, the last bastion of what a real guild should be based on, which many players in the forums want to ruin because they don't like the idea of paying dues. Old players have no incentive to teach new players how to learn how to play, because overall difficulty isn't that hard, finding enough players to do the content is fairly easy, even if you have drama with 90% of your server. Only the highest level achievements in the game now require teamwork.

The best PVE'ers and best PVP'ers are separated for the most part, though more often than not you find that the best PVP'ers are also very good at PVE as they have a serious working knowledge of the class and its limitations/best skills/best stat / gear allocation, etc. But, these so called PVP'ers that we find in ESO, don't actually fight each other, more often than not. Many of them have multiple characters across multiple factions, and rather than put themselves into a guild where they would need to control their ego, they separate into dueling circles or small guilds that don't fight each other in open world, and most have no idea how to play as a team.

They talk on the forums like they want "serious PVP" - they groan for balance - they complain about lack of challenge - yet they purposely limit the challenges to themselves as players (other good players) by boosting their ego ganking scrubs while totally ignoring the players who give them a challenge in Cyro.

i.e.

Majority of people on the forums are fake. I think this reflects our society today as well. Most of the people talking to you are liars today, with no interest in challenging themselves, constantly seeking the easy way out, massaging their ego's, and running from or refusing to challenge themselves due to a fear of having their ego crushed. They have no idea how to take their "L"'s and instead will focus on how a class is op, it was a 1vX, a mob hit them once, etc.

I know this comes off as a "Back in my day" and it's true, games are way more accessible today than they used to be because of a lot of the things mentioned above, and that's a good thing, but I'll say this -

If you think you're good at PvP but all you do is run around Cyro 1vX'ing scrubs and fighting the occasional duel against good players, while your group avoids fighting those good players because they are your "friends" - you're not good. Gone are the days when guilds had purpose, men and women set aside ego's to accomplish complete server domination for their guild, and good players treated each other with respect on virtual battlefields.

Enjoy the rest of your day you tea bagging clowns :)

Now Earthtear Cavern is broken

This problem cropped up yesterday. I am on an Xbox One S, NA server. Some people can use interative items, including all the crafing tables, Merchant, Banker, ect, in my beloved Earthtear Cavern, some cannot. I function as a guild house / hub for friends and I am furious and heartbroken over the loss of function - Especially since I paid a metric ton of real life cash to get it.

I have:

1) Picked up and reset the tables
2) Changed the default from limited visitor to visitor
3) Took the rug from under the tables (now directly on the floor)
4) Reset my Xbox
5) Had the other player reset their xboxes
6) Moved the tables to Grand Psijic Villa - they work THERE
7) Changed my primary to Grand Psijic Villa and then back
8) Gave the player decorator access - only worked in Grand Psijic Villa
9) Lit a candle to Chithulu - wait didn't do THAT -

I have done all suggestions from even Guild Masters of housing and still have the problem where SOME players can, SOME CANNOT use my crafting stations. Fix this, you took good money from me, almost 600% more than the base game itself, for the functions not to work.

I just hit level 4

Non-magic fighting

Hi. I woud like it to get a possibility to fight without magic like in Skyrim or other elder scrolls games. I like to play normal warriors who just fight with normal weapons and no spells.
It seems that this is not really feasible in ESO. I can not find a alternative to play without spells or blinking effects. At least none wo have any chance to be good or at any rate usefull. If you not use all that magic and bright stuff, there is no chance to play acceptable and get any chance in pve or pvp.

And this is realy sad and kills the elder scrolls feeling for me personal.

Yours sincerely
Droku

ESO sent me a link to an exclusive T-shirt offer. Holy Sh!t. I know exclusivity has its price, but at this price I'll skip it. It's unlikely I would earn that amount of moolah in several thousand lifetimes.
