New “amplitude” passive

Console player here... can any PC Stam Sorc players talk about how they feel the new passive is in PvP? I’m aggressively theorycrafting some ideas for my Stam Sorc but wanted to get a general consensus to if the extra burst is noticed at all, and how losing the auto execute has effected your play.

[Society of Scholars] Social Guild for Lore Fans +Story-Mode Dungeon Runs+

[UPDATE] With the Frostvault and Depths of Malatar Dungeons being released as the beginning of the overarching storyline throughout the year, feel free to join our merry band of scholars on your quest runs through the dungeons, if you want to experience them at your own pace, explore everything and hear all of the dialogue! You don't have to be a member of the guild for this, just notify us on our discord that you would like to schedule a story-mode quest run for the dungeons, and we'll see who we can find for you. If you have your own friends or guild members to do the dungeon slowly with, great! But if not, we're here to help you get to experience the story. If you don't have or don't want to use Discord, message me in-game and I'll try to form a dungeon group and set a time that works for you as soon as I can. @Robo_Hobo

Discord Link: https://discord.gg/v6ysbnm

Hello! We're the Society of Scholars, a group of people that love the storylines of the Elder Scrolls Online, and talking about the lore of the Elder Scrolls Universe throughout the many games that we've had the chance to experience it through. We're a very laid-back guild with no activity, level or experience requirements that formed with the idea of bringing together people who share this interest, to engage in discussions in-game and on our discord, and to participate in ESO group activities together.

While we do the regular style of dungeon running, pledges and whatever achievements anyone wants to try to collect, we also offer people the chance to do dungeons in what we call a "Story Mode" style. If someone in our group has never done the dungeon before (or they have but only rushed it), and they want to experience the story of it at a slow pace so that they can read the dialogue and explore without feeling rushed, we let them. Some of the quests in the dungeons are quite interesting, and it's a shame that it's become difficult for a lot of people to get to do the quests in there this way, without story-dedicated groups that most players may not have access to.

You can expect our non-story mode dungeon runs to be equally as laid-back and pressure-free, even if we don't stop to read everything if everyone's done it before.

We're looking to expand our events into doing other things in the future too.

So, if any of this sounds like something you'd be interested in, let us know, and we'll send you an invite! Whether you're new to the game or the franchise, or a battle-hardened veteran, whether you're a loremaster or someone who's just started to take interest in the lore, whether you're online every day or only when new updates come out, you're welcome to be a part of our cult society.

I'm @Robo_Hobo in-game. Message me in-game or leave a message on this thread or on our discord server for a guild invite!

Whats the deal with this? Im not on pact side but this is a strong discrimination agaisnt them in the favor of money. While you can get the horse and the guar for crowns (probably wont be much cuz joke items) this one is crowngem only, and im certenly sure it will be overpriced. Probably even 600 gem again. So just why?..

A story about a Noob and Maelstrom Arena

So there I was yesterday having a Monday off from work (I'm in NZ) and thought to myself …should I spend the day just chillin and go fish for the master fisher achievement? Or should I go try do “normal” maelstrom arena?

Since I had only done Maelstrom Arena once…2 years ago and struggled on normal, I decided this time round I’d be much better. I’m a pet Sorcerer this time so eazy peazy.

In I go as confidant as I’d ever be.

I go though Stage 1. So far so good.

Stage 2…all good! I got me shields and heals

Stage 3…died once, but next time round beat it.

Stage 4…I’ll admit, this stage I died a couple of times, and this is where I started to think, well, I really am still a noob, because this is pretty hard even on normal. Not to be deterred though, I passed this stage pretty quickly.

Stage 5…hello Ice! This stage did a big FU to me, however, once I figured I got to go smash those trolls in the face, and kill all adds, I once again passed this with limited deaths.

Stage 6..Spider daedra became dead daedra. This one was easy. However……

Stage 7…Argonians. I have decided I dislike Argonians intensely. This fight gave me such bad rng that I decided right there after dying multiple times to that stupid behemoth that I was going to stop and give up. I mean, if normal was this hard, how in the hell was I ever to past Vet?

You may be wondering at this point…. Yvarhna, you’re like the biggest noob ever. It’s on normal and you’re getting wasted. And you’re right. I ported back to my house and felt like such a noob.
Until…..

I looked at my journal with a angry face to see Vet Maelstrom Arena staring back at me. Wait a minute I say…that can’t be right. I quickly check the achievement page and see all the bosses I cleared so far on Vet.

This is the moment I say OMG!

I head straight back to those Argonians. Thanks to Joy’s vet walkthough, I find the info I need, proceed to clear the rounds and once more face that fat behemoth. After a few more tries, I finally got him down with barely any health left and I ran out of magicka. But I passed it!

Stage 8 went pretty quick

And here I am at stage 9.
I almost got the boss down, but it took a lot of tries to work out the mechanics at the start of the boss stage. The crematorian guard was my bane of existence, and I could barely even make it to the crystals. I now can take all the crystals down, but I tend to fail once the boss gets back down.

It’s ok though, because I feel quite proud of myself for getting this far. Maybe I’m not the noob I thought I was. One thing I will say though, once I pass stage 9, it’s going to feel amazing!

And in case you’re wondering, this was done with no fancy trial gear, just necropotence and Julianos. The build was basically Alcast’s pet Sorc build but instead of bound armor changed to power surge.

And that’s my story of how a noob accidently walked into Vet Maelstrom Arena. Thanks for reading :)

Longstanding Issues in BGs: Are the Developers Even Listening to Us?

$

... because it really doesn't seem that way, most of the time. In case the devs are listening or are open to listening (perhaps @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_JessicaFolsom can confirm?), here's a list of some of the worst long-standing issues in BGs. I encourage anyone who's reading to add anything I may have missed.

1. Premades vs. PUGs:

This is probably the biggest issue at the moment: strong premade groups (usually optimized for as much cheese as possible) utterly destroying otherwise good PVPers who were grouped together randomly. There is an overwhelming amount of support (both in these forums, and in game) for separating the queues for premades and PUGs. I don't think I've seen a single ZOS employee even acknowledge community thoughts on this front. Separating the queues will make BGs more enjoyable for everyone (except, I guess, for those few toxic individuals who get their jollies from dominating in PVP with little to no challenge). I'm seeing increasing numbers of players simply rage-quitting when they find themselves up against the exact same overpowered premades over and over again. Heck, even I did that for the first time today (and I hate it when people rage quit), because I simply wasn't going to be ego fodder for yet another packleader WW premade. In my experience, BGs are more fun, and more balanced, when everyone is queued solo. Premades who want a challenge would be better served by being able to queue against other organized/optimized teams.

2. Lack of Player Variety:

Thanks to the MMR system and what I have to assume is a relatively smallish player pool at certain ranks, many of us end up playing the same people over and over (and over, and over...) again. I usually recognize at least half (if not more) of the names on the list when I play. I know what builds people are running before the match even starts, because I've played against them all so many times. There are certain players who are starting to feel like dungeon bosses: utterly predictable and boring. One of the reasons why I PVP is for the variety and randomness. When things are always changing, they're always interesting. When you know what your enemy is going to do before they even do it...where's the fun in that? I want to play against different people, and the only way I can do that is by rolling alts -- which is tedious. In no other PVP game do I have this problem.

3. Long Queue Times:

Also thanks to the MMR system, many of us are stuck with long wait times, particularly during prime time hours. On my main, I'm usually facing a wait of 10+ minutes per match. At certain times of the day, I get instant queues. but that's mostly because I'm being pulled in near the end of a match to replace someone who rage-quit thanks to a toxic premade. When playing on alts, the queue time is always instant or close to instant; this leads me to believe that it is NOT a player population issue, but rather an MMR issue.

4. Pet Stacking/Pet Targeting:

This is partly related to my first point, but I'm mentioning it separately because it's significant enough of an issue to warrant its own discussion. Pet stacking in BG maps, which are relatively small areas, highlights glaring issues with pet targeting in PVP environments. Premades that are built to maximize the number of pets around them essentially gain free damage mitigation against single target attacks. If the group is skilled at kiting, they can keep their pets in front of them at all times, making themselves virtually untargetable. AOEs are a potential solution, but many burst rotations in PVP rely on single target abilities. I've lost track now of the sheer number of WW direwolves or scamps who have eaten my incaps or my frags in BGs... It's frustrating trying to target players through that many pets, and it creates a chaotic, zerg-like atmosphere (especially if each team features multiple pet builds) in a small area that is supposed to be dedicated to small-scale PVP.

5. Bugs, Exploits, and Tigers, Oh My:

Players are STILL able to pick up the chaosball a fraction of a second before they die and respawn at their base holding the ball, where they are free to remain and rack up points until the end of the match (these players also don't get banned when they're reported). Players are STILL able to sit in water with the chaosball and completely protect themselves from melee attacks (also without getting banned when they're reported). People STILL get stuck in that freaking staircase (anyone who's played a lot knows exactly which staircase I'm referring to). Matches STILL fail to start, stuck in a perpetual "Waiting for Players" limbo until everyone leaves, incurring deserter penalties in the process.

TLDR: BGs were a breath of fresh air when they first came out, but several things need to change/be fixed to keep them enjoyable for everyone (not just the premades and the exploiters).

Reworking the Champion Point System to reduce Power Creep

$

Hello fellow ESO'ers!

I've been wanting to showcase a CP system rework for a while, and now i have the time for it. The goal is to create a system that has clear tradeoffs, as opposed to the current system where the tradeoff is only between specific types of utility/sustain, damage and defense. After the changes, the CP system rather focuses on alleviating weaknesses instead of boosting what builds are already good at. So magicka builds can invest more into their defense against physical damgeand improve stamina management, while stamina builds can boost their healing done/received and their effectiveness against casters.

This system does not fully alleviate the problem of an abundance of CP points. since we have so many points to invest by now, the tardeoffs stilla rent as clear as thy should be.

What do we have now?

Currently, we have a CP level of 810 Points. This allows us to distribute 270 Points into each of the three main CP Stars (Mage/Warrior/Serpent). These trees are overall clearly defined:

1. The Warrior is basically the defensive tree. Here you find all the different defensive options that you might need. Nte that this includes physical and magical resistances.
2. The Serpent is the sustain/utility tree. Here you find everything that will reduce cost of your actions and increase recovery.
3. The Mage is the Damage tree. Here we have all stars that directly boost damage of all types.

Within this distribution of the CP stars, the problem is pretty obvious: You can invest 270 points into Damage of your type, 270 Points into utility of your liking and 270 points into defense. This makes the System allow you to be very tanky while dealing a load of damage and sustain very well, which leads to significant power creep that steadily increased over the years.

How can we reduce power creep and improve the system?

Well, there are many approaches hat ahve been suggested, but I'll tkae one that is practical in a sense that it doesnt not require any additonal perks/trees/stars. It simply reorders them to obtain a higher level of tradeoff between damage, utility/sustain and defense of a specific type. So if you want high magic damage fro example, you will lose magic sustain and damage for it. Here's the full reorder:

YvB68wb.png

Lets start with the Warrior. I designed this tree to be a "general" option. So here we have stars and perks that are not tied to magicka and stamina specifically, but grants defensive and offensive options instead:

kt0Xp4K.png

As you can see, i basically reordered pretty much all the stars and perks here. Now, if i want to invest into CP stars that increase my damage done, i cannot invest as many into CP trees that reduce my damage taken. I also cannot invest as amny point sinto critical damage taken and health recovery if i want to improve the other options.

The Mage tree contains all stars and perks that are related to magicka and magic damage, utility/sustain and defense. So if i want more Magicka Recovery, i have to reduce the points i invest into the Stars that grant Magic Damage and Healing.

yA3BlJ6.png

Since more abilities that heal scale with magicka, i also wanted to create a clear tradeoff between magic damage and healing. If you want to heal more effectively or receive more healing, it will reduce the damage you do with Magic Abilities and your magicka recovery. Same goes for Stars that interact with shields. Incuding elemental defender and light armor focus/spell shield here also creates a tradeoff between the damage trees and the respective defensive tree.

The Serpent follwos that paradigm:

1d9IH9l.png

So again, we have a clear tradeoff: if i put more points into hardy, i cannot invest as many into Precise Strikes and Mooncalf. Stamina Builds need to think about whether they want to be able to rolldodge more, sprint more, sustain better through recovery or deal more damage overall.

Now this system technically allows for a full glass cannon build and for higher damage than on live, but the tradeoff is clearly there. Builds that do that will not be able to invest into sustain and defense a lot, so they will basically fall very quickly. in PvE, this system can technically allow groups to go for more damage than we have now, but the loss of defensive cps will prevent that in any content that is challenging anyway. So on top of that Iwould like the number of CP points to be reduced significantly to 510. We simply have too many points to actually allow for tradeoffs, since we can invest a sizable amount into all stars anyway.

Keep in mind that the diminishing returns of each specific star and the scaling values will be retained.

Feedback is welcome!

Since I just moved here from Kyne where our forum thread was always an entertaining read, I was pretty disapointed not to find similar thread for this campaign, just a couple of disjointed QQs. And so im starting one :)
This is to be a big cross-alliance chat, full of salt, drama and unlikely friendships!

And so, I'll start with few observations, from a point of expereinced PvPer, but newcomer in SS, EP side.
Current population during active hours seem to be into EP's favour, which is a bit unfortunate for a guy joining, since its always more fun to play underpopulated faction. Still I like that other 2 factions are active enough to not let EP dominate but instead keep pushing back and keep PvP going!

Campaign seems a bit worse in regards to nightcapping. What amazes me tho, is that it seem to be going on on all 3 alliances roughly in the same amount. EP capping few days at the end of evening, others later at night and in the morning.. Altough I'll never understand ppl taking scrolls from NPCs at 4am, i must say: if it doesnt kill the PvP enjoyment at primetime, go slaughter those NPCs! Show them who's best! :P

And finally, since im moving here along with a guild, Im interested to find out names and activity of other guilds playing in SS :) Ive met some EP ones alrdy but im interested in knowing what DC and AD groups we will be fighting.. so far we have seen a couple of good ones, and we are very much looking forward to wiping you after we settle in! :D

Seducer vs. Magnus for cost reduction 1.3

Which 5 piece bonus do you think is better for cost reduction in 1.3?

Seducer 8% spell cost reduction
Magnus 8% chance to negate the cost of a spell

If Magnus procs on the right spell it could be a big bonus but there is no way to know if that will happen. Seducer is guaranteed. Which do you think is better?

So hey ZOS... let me know when you DOUBLE the item slots for notable homes to 1400. Or at least take the advice you've been given to make them 700 items INSIDE and 700 items OUTSIDE. Otherwise, I'll have to pass on it AGAIN.

Vivec map now much more static due to overwhelming advantage to defense

New siege can be fun, is controversial; the increased d ticks are nice. But what hasn't been mentioned is it makes the map very static. Vivec NA map has barely changed in the last 3 days in terms of what keeps are held. It is much harder now to take keeps. This could be proven quantitatively by ZOS if they calculated keep change of ownership now vs. before the changes. But, this makes the game a lot more boring/static at the level of the map, it seems to me.

Ravage health potions in PvP

$
0
0
So I've been playing ESO on and off since the beta, so I'm not a new player at all. For a long time I have on occasion been crafting and using 'Ravage health potions' in PvP. The way I read these, they do something like 11k damage to your target and a small dot (I imagine like a explosive flask or whatever).
Indeed these potions seem effective, as many a time in my combat logs I noticed "ravage health potion" damage, so I always assumed cunning opponents were using these lethal potions on me as well. B)

But today I fought a particularly vicious mudcrab outside of Rawl'kha and accidentally activated my ravaging health potion, only to notice this mudcrab suddenly took out 45% of my health and had not taken any noticeable damage himself.
Finally 2 and 2 came together. I don't even want to think about how many of my PvP deaths I have caused myself. :'( I mean what person with a sane mind expects your potion to inflict 11k damage on yourself? What evil mad(wo)man came up with that?? So a warning in case anyone else on this planet is as stupid as I obviously am: don't use ravaging health potion in PvP (or anywhere, really) o:)

Request for More Much-Needed Trade Guild Vendors

$
0
0
As I'm sure every single trade guild officer can tell you, the current vendor market is beyond volatile. Prices to hire vendors are at least double what a guild will earn through their chosen vendor.

What's worse is that most big guilds are creating subsidiaries entitled [Guild Name] 1, [Guild Name] 2, [Guild Name] 3, [Guild Name] 4, and [Guild Name] 5, taking all the available spots, and using all the profits from all their subsidiaries to fund each other, subsequently driving up the price even more.

Trade guild officers are having to resort to unsavory means such as gold buying to fund their bids. Even then very few of them are able to offer their members a stable trader. Every week the bids go up several hundred thousand, and it is quickly becoming impossible for even established guilds who have been around since launch to stay in business.

ZOS, the current system is breaking. You need to add two or three new vendors per zone. There are too many players for the number of guilds there are currently, and there are far too few vendors to service those guilds. We need more. The players know we need more. YOU know we need more. The small handful added by Summerset were not enough, thanks to those subsidiary guilds.

PLEASE just do this already. If you want more players you have to make it easier for us to play, not harder.

This is the trade off for not having a world auction house: you need to provide enough vendors to support everyone. It would be a much more effective gold sink than driving up the bids for the few traders there are now.

Also, when we find a trader who hasn't been bid on, actually being able to hire them would be useful. The Windhelm Outlaw Den vendor bugged out this week: saying this trader had already been hired, without there being a guild store to shop in.

Solo Pet Sorc PTS 4.3.3 Wrathstone Racial/Mundus Testing [Graphs & Video]

Hello and welcome to this beautiful thread, my name is Codestripper, however, you may call me Code. I've been pet sorcing it up since 2014 and I'm delighted to bring you some Racial details on the Pet Sorc DPS parsing for patch 4.3.3. This idea was inspired by @susmitds and his testing in the past, although I don't exactly have too much time on my hands after work, so this is an accumulation of data for a few days. I also was not exactly able to find someone to give me raid buffs, but I think the results are still fairly solid.

For your added benefit I will also be including the raw parse data from each parse in the following location:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/11tTrKPc8u_5BeF-j6qRYQwvDHZdSllPD/view?usp=sharing

Here is a breakdown of each race's damage per mundus stone. The mundus stones used were the Thief, Shadow, and Mage as these are the only stones that scale pet damage specifically.

Also, this is an overview of the build I was using for all of these parses:

salum9h6yoh3.png

Note: All parses were done with the same enchantments / gear / rotation. No races had sustain issues due to the heavy attack rotation, therefore I did not see a need to change anything in the build accordingly. (Any parses where several light attacks or skills were missed or double cast were discarded)

Here is a video of one of the parses I was particularly proud of for your viewing pleasure:
