Is it "acceptable behavior" to... (pvp poll!)

...not help your alliance mates and point them out to enemies by light attacking in their direction when they are in stealth?

let me update the circumstance
  • Went to Imp city to farm some tel var as a yellow.
  • stumbled upon a low level blue...didn't attack because, yeap, i'm that nice guy.
  • warned in chat, "hey, blue nb spotted in elven.
  • found 2 yellows attacking a boss.
  • started attacking boss.
  • 2 yellows move away from me and blue nb lands some blows.
  • combined with boss attacks im, down. (for mr. l2p = i solo bosses often, calm down.)
  • blue nb goes away, 2 yellows don't even revive after.
  • i respawn, farm some bosses catch up to my yellow buddies, but this time knowing they have a friend, i am ultra careful, boss dead, yellows proceed to follow me light attacking in my direction as i cloak out to get away.
  • blue nb reveals himself, i just elude and make it to a safe stoop to warp back and deposit.

Wood Elf/ Bosmer losing stealth passive, An open letter.

Wood Elves have always been a stealth based race and the main reason to choose these tiny characters is their innate stealth. PVE enemies in this game do not hide, so changing these characters to detect hidden enemies removes an enjoyable and realistic game mechanic and provides no benefit.

Firstly, Wood Elves have always had a head-start bonus to the stealth attribute for the past 5 Elder Scrolls titles. In 3 of those titles, they had a greater bonus to sneaking than any other race. For 5 years in TESO we have used this passive to great effect in all game modes. It is a valuable passive as evidenced by: the continuation (and even improvement) of stealth for Khajiits; two zone DLCs that benefit from this passive; trial and dungeon mechanics that take advantage of being in stealth; and the number of dismayed replies on your official forums.

In the developer notes it states that “many enemies in Tamriel can’t be bothered sneaking about!” The conclusion to replace it with 3 meter stealth detection is a contradiction because if enemies can’t be bothered to stealth, then we don’t need to detect stealth enemies. There isn’t any pve content available in the game that uses stealth detection. In pvp, 3 meters is actually a negligible amount of stealth detection because of how pvp is currently played. Stealth is used from a distance in order to stack bonuses from the Bow skill line. Stealth in melee range, at the pace of the current pvp climate, requires a skill (Vampire or Nightblade) or a potion. Being able to detect within 3 meters is not enough time to even block before a blow from stealth. “Gankers” will not disappear with the removal of this Wood Elf passive, they will just switch to Khajiit for the crits.

The identity of this race, from the first game, have been stealthy archers and thieves. It needs to remain an innate ability of the smallest race in the game to hide better than the largest. Moving this out of the racial passive and into another skill line is not a solution because a large character, such as a Nord, is realistically not as sneaky as the smallest characters. This change goes against the original vision, the established precedent, in-universe realism, and the lore within the game itself. The point of choosing the smallest character model in the game is that it’s better at hiding.

Regarding your dev note, “Previously this passive was shared between Khajiit and Wood Elf, and didn’t help them feel distinct enough from each other.“ Players expect that the smallest characters are the sneakiest, and the effort to make this minor distinction is not worth the cost of removing the main appeal of choosing Wood Elf. Khajiit and Wood Elf are already distinct enough from each other, in physical design and fighting style.

Please, reconsider this change. Stealthiness is THE identifying attribute to this race. The proposed change to this passive is disruptive and counterintuitive. Wood Elf hiding ability has been an established precedent for all 5 TES games and the past 5 years in this game.

"interesting build choices"

Heard zos throw this statement that they want us to make more interesting build choices. Now personally im just gunna call it like i see it, this sounds like corporate bs at its finest. Ya know, when somebody is outraged about something and pr puts out a "we are also very concerned and are looking further into the situation" type phrase. Something to calm the angry sheepeople thats fake af. But lets take zos at their word, whats wrong with how we are building? How are the choices not impactful or interesting.

End game pve: Not alot of variety here. Thing is there isnt alot zos can do about it. Each role has a specific job and there is a best way to do that job no matter how fast they change meta. As soon as they have a patch go live there is now a best way to do something for that patch. We might have to figure it out but from the time a patch goes live there is an optimized setup that will result in giving every group the maximized dps, sustain and survivability that is attainable at that time for any group. Any build diversity that comes from here is based on class and role. Generally we also have guidelines we set for the roles. Tbh i just dont think there is an option for increasing diversity here. No matter what zos does there will always be a new best and any divergent from that best is really just subject to your group. Tanks and healers probably have the least amount of choices there allowed to make. Dps has more freedom but its still do more dps and die less than your competition. Still gotta crank out as much dps as possible with just barely enough survivability. So really even there build choices are made for them based on there skill level. If you cant survive or sustain ya you have to make adjustments. Theres no choice in the trade off. There no meaningful choice of well I can have higher crit but lower damage. Its already decided based on numbers. Health vers resources, health will only ever be desirable up until the point you can reliable survive. Your not making choices, your just adapting the best set up to meet your skill lvl

general pve, same as above players have just made fewer rules for it. Tanks still want to survive while being useful to group. dps still want to kill things the fastest they can while reasonable surviving, healer wants to stay alive while keeping group healed and buffed. no dps is going to invest in more survivability than they need at the cost of dps slower. Its all based on your skill. zos is never going to do anything to make dps want more health than they need to reasonably survive unless health starts doing dmg.

pvp, you got the most diversity buildwise here. you can make a build that specializes in a certain area, can tailor survuvability and dps and utility to your desire. Really though this is just more freedom to choose your destination rather than how you get there. If im trying to be a dps magsorc that can live though a back and forth with my team against another team of players and kill them theres still things I want to prioritize and things i am only going to tailor enough into until i have what i need. example they made shields need health. There still no choice in the matter. At no point am i like god i think investing more into my health is a good idea. im like ok, what is the lowest health a can possibly go to survive. If i had a dps magsorc buddy that wanted to be alittle more tanky than me. ya he might invest in 2k more health, now granted if this is real bro would need to invest like 8k into health to actually see a difference but whatever. bro invest 2k health to be tankier, hes still not going to invest more into that at the cost of damage. Once you have what you need your only going to invest in what you want. Its not a trade off there making, its something they need to there build to be viable for them. there not choosing it.

Really the only build options to choose are what thy of build you want but how you get there is all predetermined, ya you can have a variety of sets to pick from but it still falls as get what you need then invest in what you want. if you want to be a high dps your never going to choose a set like pariah. Really if we only get to make choices regarding what we build i think we have less interesting choices than before. Mid dps mid survivability magsorc or magblade are gone, your either an tank or a glass cannon, high rolldodge chance builds are gone. overload builds gone. Going way back here but blazeplar is gone. Now if zos thought these builds were doing to much damage or had to much survivability fine make fine tuning adjustments. its not giving us interesting choices or even uninteresting choices to pick from. The game as a whole doesnt really have interesting trade offs or again even uninteresting ones. You have the core needs the game forces you to have and then you invest in the area you building for. Everything is either a need or something you want to invest as much as you can in or something you dont want to invest in. I mean theres an argument to me made for things in the same area like spell damage spell crit and spell pen or recovery vs reduced cost but even there a best option exists to give you the most bang for your buck you just have to find it. Ya they can switch around the requirements for a build to be viable but its still not anything we choose and is decided for us by viability and our skill, its not a choice.

i think if zos really wants to increase the interesting choices in our builds they need to give us more types of builds, mag ice dps a thing, i sure there will be alot of players that start building those.

I would like to have a Member of the Zos Team respond to all of us about the reason they do not do anything about the BOT Farmers. It IS a Breach of Zenimax TOS:

Hello,

We have been around for 3.5 years, activity has dropped because I enlisted in the military sooo here’s who we are.

We are a social guild dedicated to helping our members. We will in all likelihood remain at around 100 members or so, as GM I don’t believe in my members being just a number. We have roughly 83 members right now we will be losing a few however due to inactivity. We are open to obtaining a trader based on donations but it is not a priority. Guild bank is open to most. We do not require mics but we do require communication. We run events, raffles, contests etc. We currently cover ALL content even PvP. We will be up starting a trials progression group soon only requirement will be 500cp, active, and helping others.

About Us:


Flitzbane and I created this guild almost 4 years ago on Xbox with the purpose of having a group of like-minded members in the same guild, so we never had to use the activity finder and could always do group activities without having to ask in zone chat. We would like to go back to the roots of that, only this time on PC, and let MoR grow and become a place where dailies, trials, shard farming, and even questing doesn't have to be a solo thing. While we are fine with solo play, (I personally solo play a lot) We know how hard it can be to get groups and how much more fun it is when we can have a friend or two tagging along!

Active Time:
We are looking to expand our roster so that all time zones are covered and there is always someone on to help or explore Tamriel with. (Guild events are scheduled around CST.)

Scheduling and management:
We are an organized guild. This is in hopes that everyone’s wants and needs within the guild are met. While we have scheduled events, random guild fun is always welcome.

Communication:
We use discord, this is not a requirement, however, it is recommended for members to join. This is where you can get the full benefits of being in the guild. Whether it be needing help with a build, maelstrom arena, crafting, or finding someone to help you with daily quests. Looking just to chat with someone when you’re stuck at work and would rather be playing the game. Discord will give you access to all of that and more!

To Bot or not to Bot

Some of you might wonder what I mean by Bot, well simply I am referring to people with low level characters camping on a crafting spawn and running a script or macro program that allows them to be AFK. I play on Xbox and I would say that over the last 6 months (maybe longer) that the problem with Bots is becoming a regular thing. Multiple times I have reported characters for this action and have received little to no help or response from the developers/GM's. What I see most of the time is a level 2 or 3 character with a name like Jytdo Urtsm parked on an ore vein with the program twitching their map open every 60 seconds and the instant the ore spawns they are hitting it. The program must have it timed down to milliseconds to when the ore will spawn. So, is this something I am going to have to live with? What could they be gaining by only harvesting Iron Ore? If this is going to be something I am going to have to live with then how or where do I get the program so I can do it? I honestly thought that this kind of practice would be against the terms of service but I have not witnessed the Devs/GM's doing anything about the Bots.

Looking For Magicka dps tips as sorc

Hey guys !

Yesterday I started a reroll as a magsorc and I wonder what kind of sets will be optimized in order to do as much dps as possible, and I have few questions !
Firstly I heard that the magblades are stronger than magsorc in pve actually... is it real ? Have we a great difference between the 2 of them ?
Secondly, I wonder if pets still works for sorc in hm dlc dj or vet trials... (I will be satisfied if they do more than 52k dps selfbuffed approximatively)

Finally as sets ;
For a pet magsorc I would use :
-2 zaan
-5 spell strategist
-5 necropotence

Mundus thief / food max Magicka and Health, all divine.

For a magsorc without pet, of course I will use too zaan and spell strategist, but I wonder if siroria is the better other set cause u need to move for severals tactics / mechs in dlc dj or trials... so I may use mother sorrow or smth else ? Have u any recommandations ?? :smile:

Console player here... can any PC Stam Sorc players talk about how they feel the new passive is in PvP? I’m aggressively theorycrafting some ideas for my Stam Sorc but wanted to get a general consensus to if the extra burst is noticed at all, and how losing the auto execute has effected your play.

About the High Elf sustain Passive

So there are a lot of people complaining that a magicka High Elf build will now restore stamina rather than magicka and while I understand people's responses let me explain why they are a little stupid and frankly what you currently have is rather nice. The current state of the passive is rather good for almost every form of content. It may not benefit you in a parse but frankly parsing is not everything plz stop being a target dummy hero and get out there in the world. In every form of content you will need to block and dodge and even break free sometimes. This sustain passive finally allows magicka builds to sustain their stamina reliably, a issue that's been around and debated for awhile.

Many will complain this is a PvP change and while it will have more benefit in PvP that is simply not the case. In vMA dodging, blocking, bashing, and sometimes breaking free is all required. While most the time one does not run into stam sustain issues as a magicka build in vMA this will allow you to do more blocking and dodging. (more than just having some extra max stamina)

Can't be a good caster if you can't break free, dodge, or block right? Management of your secondary resource is important and this passive gives you that. So stop complaining and take the nice stuff. The High Elves now use their magic too keep themselves in good physical condition through out a fight. Stop thinking down such a narrow path. Magic is many things not just the couple schools. The schools were created by the mages guild to teach magic easier.
