Is it me or is DK falling behind in the "balance" game?

I preface this by saying I play all the roles, all the classes, and I objectively am seeing that DKs--unlike literally every other class--has one viable role: tanking.

I sure can't get into any kind of end-game content with a DK dps (mag or stam), or with a DK healer. However, every other class at least has some role flexibility--Wardens make decent tanks and healers; NBs are ok tanks and healers, excellent dps; Templars are awesome healers and magdps; sorcerers are great magdps but can tank and heal well.

But DKs? If you're not tanking, nobody wants you.

Isn't that kind of counter to the intended goal and making all classes viable for all roles?

And yeah, I know that DK dps and healers CAN work in less rigorous groups and content, but there is clearly a balance issue when DK dps get laughed out of vet trial groups for briniging subpar dps and no group utility to the table. Maybe we can get some kind of unique or interesting group buff?

Shield Breaker Set

Testing out the new shield breaker set it appears that it's not a straight 6% damage increase. With 260 more stam in my shield breaker loadout and the exact same weapon damage and buffs against a target dummy, I was hitting for just over 4% more damage with spriggans with a two handed mace equipped which is pretty significant. I know that 6% damage increase can come before or after cp, armor etc. and wanted to bring it to the developers attention to make sure that it is working as intended.

About the project
The eso-skillfactory was born, when Keldor and I talked about the idea of a skillplaner a few months ago. Together we build a german skillplanner, because that's our mother-tongue. But a few months later we began to work on the EN and FR version, because we want to share our project with all ESO-players!

Things to discover
No matter where you are, you can always access the profil-box, the language-option and our other projects like eso-schatzsucher.de (DE), eso-database.com (DE/EN) or eso-lfg.com (DE/EN/FR).

1. This is the mainpage of the eso-skillfactory. Here you can check out the latest news & updates and read something about the project. You can also see the latest 5 builds with a small language-flag.

2. On the "Find build"-page, you can find builds from other players with filters. You can also customize the list by organize the builds (p. e. likes, user, patchversion and more).

3. The "Skill Calculator"-Button directs you to the real mainpage of our skillplanner. Here you can create your own build. You can set your skillpoints until you reach the maximum. You can also set attribut-points (Magicka/Stamina/Health), your mundus-stone and the number of light/medium/heavy armor. The special highlight of our skillplanner is the Championsystem, where you can set your points in any way you like. In addition to that, you can save your build, reset the skillpoints or read our "help" to find out how many skillpoints you can reach in the game.

To save your build, just set one skillpoint and then the button "save build" will be appear. When you hit this button, you can type in a description, title and more. You can also decide to make your build private (hidden for other players) or public (all players are able to find your build).

4. In the section "my builds" you are able to see your own builds. You can edit or delete and sort them according to certain criteria (p. e. likes, skillpoints and more).

5. With the "Favourite"-Function you can put the best skills (in your own opinion) into your Favourite-List and can find them very fast via your profile-box.

6. Important to know:
  • No cost for your: Our site is 100% free to use, without any hidden cost. It's a fan-project and we love to work with!
  • No advertising on the site that sucks

Hello I played ESO few years back but I kinda couldnt get into it, my highest char only got to 17lvl before I stopped playing, now I wanna try it again and I have a few questions. First I noticed that there is some housing feature is there any reason other than the pure joy of caring for a house to get one? Second last time I played I was able to made my low level character into vampire, I would like to do it again, is it still possible? and mainly is it still possible with dragon knight, because If I remember corectly I only did it with sorc. Lastly as you could tell my new main character I would like to focus on is dragon knight and my first instincts were go for the tank as in other mmos tanks are my thing, but im not too much into high end game stuff, im much more into lore questing just enjoying in the open world, I wont be powering through levels just so I could go doing raids and I saw some posts talking about how slow it is to kill stuff in open world as a tank. Is it really true? should I rather switch to dmg dragon knight now when im still low level (10lvl), or its not that big of a deal?

Which class has the vibe that’s the coolest as far as animations skill set and overall aesthetic. Also taking one’s imagination into what the class would look like with better more fluid graphics similar to cinematic trailers.

What is the meta race for Necro PvE DPS(stam/mag) and PvP?

I have been getting mixed responses on this one.


So some people are saying, it is the usual Altmer for magicka, Orc for Stamina Necro PvE DPS. Some others are saying Breton, Redguard/Bosmer due to sustain nerfs on tristat food.

Yet, I am hearing from some of the best parsers in two of my guilds that Khajiit is beating every race for both types of Necro DPS due to the critical execute passive.

The new DK whip change with Seething Fury passive has a major flaw

Let's cut to the chase: You can slot this "Spammable" skill, but without using it, ever!

Yes, we found out about this on stamDK, in which we just slot Molten Whip on front bar to gain the Seething Fury passive and maintain it more than 80% of the time. IMO, giving stamDK a dynamic passive to keep up like this is very interesting, but Molten Whip is just a very strange choice to put this passive on.

But then I realized something: We can do this same *** with magDK, and just use Elemental Weapon as a spammable instead.

Ok, but is it really a good idea to slot Whip for its passive alone and use Ele Wep instead? Not really, especially in longer fight (which is a lot). In execute phase you can easily stack 3x Seething Fury by spamming 3 times Flame Of Oblivion then Whip for tons of damage. In this case, you will easily outdamage the Ele Wep setup. But then again, the fact that we can just slot Whip and use something else entirely is just... wrong.

Last week I'm still very 50/50 on whether or not we should give this passive to a spammable skill, but now I'm convinced that this is a very ill-advice idea. It's an insult to the design of every single DK dps by slotting our most iconic skill just as a placeholder.

My suggestion for this is simple: Either move this passive to Molten Weapon (a very underused skill) or just move it to Searing Heat, a very pointless passive in the Ardent Flame skill line that most players don't even know about its existence.

And please, I know this is a dead meme already, but beating a dead horse is my passion, so dare I say this again: PLEASE JUST CHANGE MOLTEN WHIP INTO A STAM SKILL AND DEAL PHYSICAL DAMAGE. THE ADDED EFFECT CAN BE MINOR LIKE "REDUCED COST" OR "DEAL SLIGHTLY MORE DAMAGE". PLEASE!!! LET ME BACKFLIP AND WHIP MY ENEMIES ON MY STAMDK!!!!!

Also, writing in all caps is my other passion.

Dizzy Swing - The Past, the Present and the Future

Dizzy Swing has a long history in ESO's pvp scene. I was disappointed to read about its change with Elsweyr's PTS, but even more disappointed to see how little reaction this skill is getting now.
To understand what position this skill is in now, we must examine its purpose, how it was used in the past and where it's still applied now to further understand why the proposed changes to Dizzy Swing will further kill the skills usefulness and solidify stamina to exclusively relying on Sword and Board Reverberating Stun as their main reliable CC.

Dizzy Swing is designed around hitting once, and hitting HARD. The skill leaves the caster highly vulnerable, as they have to be in melee range and enter a cast time that can be easily dodged and easily blocked. It has existing counterplay. The skill was a very high risk, very high reward play style that allowed players to maximize that play style of raw damage. This skill was widely viable for a long time during this ESO's lifetime, between Stamina Dragonknight Wrecking Blow into Leap combo, Stamina Sorcerer's high damage amping the damage of Dizzy Swing, Stamina Templar Roundhouse, to Stamina Wardens Dizzy, Shalks, Dawnbreaker combo. This skill rewarded leaving yourself open with a high burst window if the skill was successful. This is vastly different from the meta that exists now among stamina.

Between the rise of player HP, player resistances in general and the rise in the effectiveness of debuffs and DoT effects, Dizzy Swing has been left in the dust compared to what it once was and what other play styles exist for Stamina. The reasons to run dizzy swing over sword and board or duel wield already leave you to wonder why even slot the skill. It may average 4-6k damage against most armored PvPers that know how to properly build, but the risk for that little damage does not justify using it now for anything but killing players that do not know anything about the game or how to build their characters for PvP.

The changes announced in Elsweyr will devastate the Dizzy Swing play style and remove any reason to slot this skill over reverb and heroic slash for Stamina. With a damage nerf and an attempt to reconcile this by making the animation slightly faster, a skill that already does lack luster damage now does atrocious damage compared to what it once was.
The greatest travesty however is the fact that it will kill this style of play that revolves around pure, raw burst damage. A skill once designed to promote a high risk, high reward play style suddenly has no reward, but all the risk as before. A play style different from most of what Stamina is, and is slowly being forced into becoming a play style that revolves around bleeds and defile to whittle down opponents resources as the only viable option.

To Zenimax- Please re think your intentions with this skill, look at its past uses, what it was: A skill that promoted both timing burst, landing combos, leaving yourself vulnerable while also promoting enemies to counter the skill either by blocking or dodging it.
Don't make Dizzy Swing into the next Rapid Strikes.

Hey everyone I'm trying to find a nice and easy going guild. Casual play and nothing about weekly pay. I'm always down to donate to the guild but I thought that was kind of crazy....

I work alot and have two kids so I'm only on for couple hours at night but it would be nice to play with other players and help level up..

I usually stay PG with conversation and additude towards others! Plus I've also wanted to make a healer toon for awhile and need a team to help level that character up so please hit me up!!
