Why would someone begin necromancy?

I want to write a backstory to my necro character, but I can't think of any original reason for him to learn necromancy in the first place. Yes, evil without a reason is a trope, but I dont want to go down that route as I want to make him switch to the good side, well, at least his intentions.
If you played Dragon Age 3, you'd know necromancy there seemed okay with people, even when you claimed to be the one sent by the Andraste(their prophet). They defended it saying you are only using lurking souls of already long gone bodies, doing no harm to anyone.

Got any ideas how I can fit something like this to ESO lore?

Edit: He'll be an Orc. My main is a breton healer. I'm also thinking of having them cross paths, rivalry, friendship etc.

I can understand difficult - or at least non intuitive - puzzles but they should never, NEVER, be part of a major quest line!. I have searched for answers to solve this puzzle but nothing I read has helped. I can always find other places to explore in Tamriel but would have like to finish this so close to the end. Yes, I'm whining but feel I have a legitimate complaint.

Unless someone can give me easy to understand, step by step instructions on how to complete this quest...........

My journey to 40k dps - Stam DK

Story of me and my stam DK.

What a game this is. After around 3,5 years i guess its more than a hobby. I started out as a tank and after noticing how slow questing was due to my dps, i started to measure damage it in order to improve. I remember one of the first times i got around to a training dummy i did 1,5k dps with my tank spec. My goal was to get to around 5. I started using abilities in an order and after a while i was doing 10k dps, took me some time to get there though. I liked the fast paced style of DPSing and turned my main (and only) character into DPS. After a lot of practise and reading i eventually managed to do 12k dps. While in dungeons i came across exeptional players that did 20k , i heard rumors that 30k was achievable!

I envied the players that did top dps and desperate to improve i came to this forums, where you guys tought me about rotation and tips about gear. I started the LONG and slow journey towards getting the Maelstrom Bow, which itself took me from 13k to 25k dps after a LOT of practising. I was dead stuck at 25k DPS for a long while. Again, i came to forums and asked for you help. You tought me where to get the right gear, and the right traits and food. Journey from 30k to 40k however took me about 1 year. Only 2 days ago i was 100% sure i was NOT going to be able to achieve 40k. I watched countless videos and knew exactly what gear and traits i should use but i was STUCK at 33-35k.

The other day though, i started getting into interface and setting it up in a way that let me have a better oversight over my buffs. I spent some time setting up srendar and managed to set up tracking of RELEQUEN. As it turned out, i never managed to get to 20 stacks and my damage output reflected that. I did 2 hours on a test dummy today and after a FANTASTIC phonecall from my mother ( she finally got her own apartament! This is huge ) i felt a RUSH of positive energy and i sat down being like "YOU CAN DO THIS". Ladies and gentlemen, and i did. It was amazing.... I did 40k dps - purely self buffed. I rejoyced and this has been a LONG TERM goal of mine besides the flawless conqueror which i got the other day ( took me 2 years ). I have never felt such incredible sense of achievement in any game in my life. Thank you for helping me along the way guys! I guess 45k dps is next stop but i have no idea atm how im gonna achieve that lol! :D

I saw on the PTS that they are zone-based purchases. I hope there's a way to get all of them for a reasonable cost otherwise I might not spend much.

If they are per zone and they are 100-150 Crowns per large zone and 50-75 Crowns for small zones I won't mind but any bigger would be insane.

Around 3k Crowns for the entire game would be ideal because those that have maxed out character slots will still end up paying up to 30-40k Crowns and those that aren't maxed out on characters might be stimulated to make new ones if the cost is not prohibitive.

I don't know, I'm worried that they get us so hyped about an awesome new feature and aggressively paygate it...

My confidence in the game is way up right now, an awful pricing would affect my trust in the game and company behind it.

Basically, when running with the assassin personality on, occasionally, you hold your weapon instead of the dagger that is supposed to appear here (sometimes...).

as of right now, the final patch of PTS, what do you feel is the superior DLC class?
-theme
-identity
-abilities
-damage
-healing
-ease of use
-particle effects
-versatility
-etc.

it can be any reason, all reasons, etc. but what do you feel is the better DLC class as of now, and why if you don't mind posting your thoughts?

All ESO events - Base, Chapters and DLCs - are happening in 582 only? What?

Site article mentions that Elsweyr is happening six years after Euraxia took over. Which places it in year 582, since her coup was in 576.
That makes all ESO events from story content released up to date happening in the same year ESO started in the beginning.

My question is... are you joking right now, ZOS? For realz? How on Nirn we can do all these things in one year, and there is more to come with any given update afterwards!
You should stop with this stupid "play in any order" thing and give ESO normal timeline, it's just ridiculous.

NOTE: this is all from the perspective of high level play, both PvP and PvE-wise. just cause you wanna play a bootleg magic snipe spammer with crystal blast that doesnt make it good or useful at anything

DragonKnight

Dark Talons morph Burning Talons: 7 seconds minor maim is just amazingly better than the DoT from burning talons, and the intended use of burning talons is just way too weak for what it is unless youre being some weird ass support DPS dk and you wanna help your tank cause they dont have an aoe root, or some ***, but even then its just better to do literally anything else. its trash

Stonefist + Morphs: unless youre playing a gimmicky full ranged magdk theres literally no point to this skill compared to petrify. its idea is supposed to be a more burst oriented CC over petrify because of the increased damage when the stun works, but that just means its a bootleg flame reach, which does all of its damage but over 8 seconds but who cares cause stonefists damage is bad even if it gets the stun buff. also flame reach comes with the dot and the burning which is buffed by DK passives. it just doesnt flow well with DKs gameplay whatsoever. also theres a heal morph but its a small *** heal on one person and it costs 4k so lmao


Nightblade

Malevolent Offering + Morphs: this skill including its morphs is only good for a single thing and thats healing other players. its by far one of the most single use skills in a classes utility. with magblades self healing being gimped in wrathstone, it could have been extremely useful if it was the older version of offering that let you place huge *** HoTs on anyone including yourself, at the cost of instant hp burst. even that old offering version had dead morphs. by dead morphs i mean morphs that dont add or change anything about how the skill is used, just some numbers changes. one reduces cost the other heals more. boring as ***. theres a lot of potential to this skill and making it have uses outside of "healing someone else" would be great. give me solo blood mage again pls i unironically loved blowing myself the *** up when panicking


Sorcerer

Summon Storm Atronach morph Summon Charged Atronach: just use destro ult lmao. whens air atro

Summon Unstable Familiar morph Summon Unstable Clannfear: cant survive *** and aggros inconsistently. needs a massive buff or rework to have any use in endgame gameplay.

Crystal Shard morph Crystal Blast: crystal frags is essentially the most important skill that magsorcs have, and swapping it out for a stun and some AoE damage when it still has a cast time is completely useless. imo both morphs should have an instant cast proc, but maybe blasts proc can be gained in some other way with less RNG, like using an amount of mag in a certain amount of time, or something, idk. its trash.

Encase morph Shattering Prison: its a tank/utility skill but it does trash damage. these morphs are literally never good. give it major expedition imo

Overload + Morphs: its got dead morphs. one does more damage the other gives mag back. needs more differences for different playstyles.

Mages' Fury morph Mages' Wrath: increases the splash damage no one cares about by a *** amount. the other morph gives you back more mag than it *** uses.


Templar

Radial Sweep morph Empowering Sweep: literally no one will ever use this over DB. it needs to do something INCREDIBLY SIGNIFICANT to ever be worth it

Sun Shield + Morphs: i dont even *** know what the intended purpose of this skill is aside from the old meme factor. too expensive for tanks and the shield is small as hell no matter what you do. i tried 70k hp and it was still absolute trash.

Eclipse morph Unstable Core: same issue with stonefist, shattering prison, and mages wrath. trash morph adds some damage but its garbage damage for garbage people. total dark ECLIPSES this morph by a huge *** amount.



Warden

Falcon's Swiftness + morphs: dead morphs, one increases damage one makes you take less damage. literally all the skill does actively anymore is give u major expedition. this skill has extreme boringitis going on and needs some more stuff to make it fun and interesting aside from making you desperately search for a spot in ur bar to make room for the berserk.

Artic Wind morph Artic Blast: lmao delayed stun for 4k mag and a garbage self heal. magdens rely on masters clench because this skill is so unbelieveably useless. even if it was free i dont think anyone would slot it.

Crystallized Shield morph Crystallized Slab: not a bad morph conceptually but its hot trash compared to infinite major heroism forever, which is an important part of wardens loadout. needs to be buffed significantly to be able to even remotely compare to shimmering, or reworked for a different playstyle, tho FIVE BILLION ULT PER SECOND is kinda good for all playstyles so idk. maybe turn it into a pve dps skill that doesnt proc on damage taken?

SPECIAL GOOD MORPH MENTION, FROZEN GATE MORPH FROZEN RETREAT: this *** owns and not enough people *** with it. its main issue is it disappears once an enemy steps on it and you cant decide if you want a friend to hit it or if an enemy walks into it. i think it should lose the enemy chain element and instead buff allies in its radius. its a really neat skill and it requires actual thought to use


ok moving on to global skills


(SnB) Shield Charge + Morphs: its just a gap closer but its morphs do like, nothing. if you wanna use this im not sure if its even worth the skill point to morph it.

(SnB) Power Bash morph Power Slam: this morphs intended purpose is to be a spammable thats extra good while youre under pressure, but its stupid expensive and the damage is garbage. also youre dropping reverb for it. you dont drop reverb unless youre a stamdk feeling saucy with petrify.

(Med Armor) Evasion morph Elude: despite shuffles snare immunity being underpowered as hell right now (lmao 2.5 seconds) its still a must have for med users, and this is still a morph thats purely damage mitigation with no utility on a dps armor type.

(Soul Magic) Soul Strike morph Shatter Soul: trash AoE damage that only procs when you kill something on an ult are you for real. same issue with the rest of the morphs that add a bonus AoE damage, its just adding or buffing something no one cares about. except this one is an ult. that you cant spam to guarantee it procs. and the damage is bad. i cant stress how bad this morph is.

(Vamp) Drain Essence morph Accelerating Drain: i really cant fathom the idea behind this one. i just dont get it. an emergency heal where one morph gives a *** of ult, and this morph uh...gives minor exp for 20 seconds. after waiting 3 seconds. im very confused.

(Vamp) Mist Form morph Baleful Mist: Absolutely miniscule amount of damage where choosing it means youre missing out on major expedition. optimally this morphs purpose would be to make people chasing you wanna back off to avoid the damage but its just bad. it'd make more sense to be like, a snare or something.

(Fighters Guild) Circle of Protection morph Turn Undead: roleplay morph that just doesnt work on a lot of things for the sake of immersion. why tho

I just started using Max Resource + Recovery food on my DDs, noticed a nice damage & sustain boost and don't feel like my survivability took a hit at all.

I've played for hundreds of hours in ESO, mostly in the first couple of years after the PC launch. After stopping for a while, I've always continued to follow the game's updates and expansions, planning to return at one point or another since I like most of the game's core mechanics and I have enjoyed exploring the various regions.

However, there is one system that kept me from coming back for good and that is combat. The game's clunky and disappointing combat (mostly due to poor animations) has been the source of constant complaints ever since the beta, but the developers never really did focus on making it substantially better even if it's the single most important activity in the game, whether you are doing PvE content or PvP content. Whenever there is a public announcement of a new DLC and expansion, such as Elsweyr, you'll find plenty of people on Reddit and other gaming forums saying that they like ESO but cannot stand its combat and have stopped playing because of it.

I've always hoped the time would come when they'd address this open issue, but they haven't so far, which is a bit surprising to me since several MMORPGs did something similar over time, improving their combat systems (I'm not talking about balance here, mind you). Meanwhile, I ask you how important this would be for you personally. Hopefully, we can get a more accurate snapshot of how much this issue is truly felt in the community.

So now that Elseweyr is coming, we'll be able to go to every race's homeland (at least 2 zones per race). What provinces are you most looking forward to next? Whiterun in the 2nd era? More of the Alik'r Desert? Perhaps the eastern Telvannis Coast? Or maybe even the inner swamp of Black Marsh?

Why Does Incap Still Have Reave?

Title says it all. Stamblade does not need more sustain. Even in PvE it's unnecessary.

If Reave doesn't get moved to soul harvest you'll find most magblades going back to Incap if they weren't there already. Feel free to take the defile off. Magblade has enough ways to secure kills

Simply put, it feels like we are being ignored and shut down on certain threads... we just want some answers, one way or the other.

I'm not here to demean anyone or incite anything against the devs. We just want some feedback on the matter. Even if you have absolutely no plans to make improvements to housing, we would absolutely love to at least hear that from you, because it would mean that you are willing to communicate on the matter.

What "trigger set" and "special effect set" you know and which one you love?

By "trigger set" I means it will cast certain skill when you perform certain action or meet certain criteria, for example Mad Tinkerer
By "special effect set" I means it will have constant buff effect and visual effect, for example Worm's Raiment

I like to see new skill or special effect which cannot get from any skill line, but to be honest I only tried Bahraha's Curse and Mad Tinkerer so far. I like Mad Tinkerer very much but I want to try new, fun set( not necessary meta or powerful ). Hope you guys can give me suggestions :smiley:

Incap is now useless again! You can’t silence an enemy after a cc is already on them? So you can’t incap and then fear anyone which pretty much means you can’t kill anyone? Okay Zos, gg. It’s pretty much a cheaper version of onslaught and even then onslaught hits way harder and you can get it back right away if you kill someone with it.
Here’s an idea! Stop listening to the sorcs who hide behind the most op damage shield in the game and just give us an ultimate that is actually useful or leave incap the way it was pre elsewyr!
