The problem with faction lock for the veteran PvP players
Like many of the folks I play with on a daily basis, we have been here since launch. Over the past almost 5 years, many of us have made friends on all 3 factions, especially since One Tamriel. After one has been playing a game for 5 years, fighting the same groups day in and day out, presents little challenge. There are also times of the day or certain days of the week, where the populations in Cyrodiil are grossly imbalanced. So you have players, like myself, who will swap to our other faction toons because we prefer to not be a part of the zerg trains. Example: it's Monday night and EP has a queue of 70+, but I want to play in Cyrodiil. I don't have over an hour to waste sitting in a ridiculous queue, so I choose to gather a few friends from my guilds to play on AD or DC where the queues are shorter or where more balance might be needed. Because honestly, how fun is it to constantly be on the side who is on the larger side of a 30 v 5 fight? Where is the challenge in that? That's not PvP, that's giving the opponent no chance at all.
There has always been a tinfoil hat brigade that is under the assumption that griefing or spying is prevalent, when in fact, it hasn't been a problem in 4 years. The few that do, will find a way to be trolls regardless of the changes ZOS makes. Because the conspiracy theorists shout the loudest, those of us who have friends across all 3 sides, are now forced to choose to essentially retire multiple toons or go to dead campaigns. We no longer have any flexibility to enjoy the game with whomever we like. We no longer have the option to go to the losing side when large groups are mowing over entire maps (which is quite frankly boring and what is truly ruining Cyrodiil). We no longer have the option to play the toons we poured hours of work into without being penalized. We no longer have the option to engage in interesting fights against new opponents.
Faction locking serves no purpose other than to ostracize a large portion of the veteran PvP community. I'm not alone in saying this will probably be the end of my subscription. I know many who have said the same. That's $180/year ZOS will no longer see from me and it will also influence my decision to purchase new content. With no resolution to performance issues in sight, and now this, why would I?
The proposed changes are further evidence that ZOS doesn't actually understand the actual problems with Cyrodiil and just wants to slap a bandaid on it, again, to appease some players, but give the rest of us another reason to jump ship the minute an even slightly better game comes along. Many of us inch closer to that ledge every day we log in.

Need help choosing a class
Hi there, I'm seminew to the game (I played a sorc a few years ago but only reached lvl 30) and I'm a bit lost about which class is for me since I try to avoid playing alts.
Since I don't want a "choose a class for me" thread, I will ask for some general info about roles or plastyles so I can decide by myself.
First of all, I will be playing both PvP and PvE (but mainly PvP) so I would like to know some info from PvP and PvE.
1- Which classes are best known for being good at being ranged (bow centered builds or magicka ones) and which being melee and why?
2- Which classes are best known for being good at dealing AoE damage and why? And which kind of AoE, ranged or melee?
3- Which classes are best known for AoE support? I'm talking about AoE healing, AoE buffs, AoE debuffs...
4- Which is the class popularity rank currently?
5- (PvP specific) Which classes would you say that are the most desirables for a group?
6- Lastly, the last time I played there was a lot of controversy about animation cancels in PvP in order to get huge amount of burst to get your kills. Assuming that animation cancels are a thing yet, which classes/builds rely the least on it?
Thank you in advance and sorry for being annoying with so many questions!

Same problems, game still unplayable at peak times!
I am seeing a disturbing trend of all the problems with the queue system and other game issues being buried and seemingly "hidden".
Since January ZOS admitted there has been problems with PC EU and their lack of capacity that caught them unawares. Okay...
Five months later and with an expansion they KNEW was coming, what exactly has been done to remedy these issues? There were rumours going around their might be an "increase in capacity" to resolve the issues. As it stands it is worse than ever despite these issues supposedly being dealt with?
Every evening I have attempted to play and have been unable to either queue at all, or even if I can I have the usual spam "F" for 20-30 minutes before completely giving up and logging off and not bothering to log back in again that day due to knowing until about 1030-1100PM it will be fruitless. Unless you can play through the night or early in the day you are basically screwed.
This is without all the other issues lke Cyrodiil, BG's not starting with lack of players and massive dungeon lag. This game is literally only remotely playable for part of the day or into the small hours.
I have just basically given up that anything will be ever done about this and I am doomed to just wasting my time and paying for something I can't even use. I have never seen issues this bad in a long running game, yes this includes the peaks of WoW, etc too...
On the upside, I am playing games that have been in my backlog for ages and really enjoying them. It is pretty much not worth wasting any more time or money on this joke. I cannot figure out if it is just pure incompetence or an impossible task.
Anyone else just hit break point for this useless mess?

Elsweyr theory-crafted Magblade PvP builds
Hey guys,
So with the new patch coming today, I thought it would be cool for us Magblades to share our thoughts and theory-crafted PvP builds for Elsweyr meta.
Or non-meta, just some solid cool build ideas![:) :)]()
As for me, I currently run Torug's/Mother's sorrow and Slimecraw (for the Merciless nerf). It works, but I feel way too squishy and if a few players gang up on me and I can't shade to saftey, I'm toast.

Need better voice preview when creating characters
When one creates a character it should be possible to hear the voice of a new toon when fighting, using break-free, falling and riding. As it is now, it's almost impossible to guess how the voice of a toon will sound like during battle.
I spent like 5000 crowns on getting the right meow for my Khajit, and now I must prb do the same with my new wood elf. Voice is important. It ruins immersion to hear a lady with one hell of an ugly voice. This will not do. Request fix please.

"It's been 84 years..."
I've decided to make a return after quite some time off ESO. I have no idea what to expect, who is still around from the 'old days' and even if I'll still enjoy it - but, I'm a student now and need a good way to procrastinate. So, hello to everyone who is still around (mods included) and to the new peeps I haven't met yet! ![:) :)]()
I know absolutely nothing about the new DLC or any changes, bugs or otherwise since the Summerset release. I'm hoping things won't be too alien. Are any DLC/content packs worth buying outright or would you recommend me joining ESO Plus (if it still exists)?
I'll be browsing the forum for as much info as I can find I just hope someone can give me a TLDR of what to expect coming back after so long![:) :)]()
Anywaaaay, big sloppy dragon kisses! x

Unstoppable Spinning Toon again
So, this is back. Hasn't happen in a while. Macbook Pro Mid 2015.AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB
Have to quit the game. And with a 5 min login sequence, a huge pain in the rear. This bug has been around since the forced Mojave upgrade. Please fix.
Trigger condition was clicking on another toon, turning it a bit, then going to another toon.

To all of you upset for NA rawlkha guilds gone...
They seem to be, according to one of the guild a GM account, in Rimmen. I wonder now how many will go back to Rawl next week, and how long it'll be until someone yells this was all for show.
They'll get a bunch of money in anyway, after all. There you go.
Funny stuff, indeed.
Good luck all of you trading guilds!
Shame I can't go there yet. Gonna have to buy somewhere else.
[Minor title edit for bait.]

Login Bug (CANNOT LOG IN) Error #318
Hey,
Maybe somebody else has experienced this and has some sort of solution...
Whenever a friend of mine tries to log onto their account, they enter a loading screen and 5 seconds later get 'kicked for spamming messages too fast'.
- This happens every time, for all characters.
- They have zero addons
- They are not typing anything, they just click their character and wait.
- They have a second account, which works normally
- They have tried repairing the client AND a complete reinstall
If anyone has a solution we would be very grateful!

How are you playing Necro?
I am loving Necro and currently made it my main least for now.
How are you playing your Necromancer?
I’m running a Magicka one damage dealer but I used Altcast beginner setup and it’s literally just 5 skills.
I just started to run healing as my back bar but idk. I’m learning to dual bar and still figuring out that too.
What’s your setups on both bars?
I queued as healer just to get in faster it seems like.

Cyrodiil: Why Faction lock is only a Band-Aid fix for a bigger problem
We see a lot of people complaining about faction lock these days. We also see quite some supporting it. I get the motivations of both sides to support either implementation, but the core problem lies somewhere else.
First of all - I think Faction Lock is a terrible idea. It prevents people who have levelled multiple characters on multiple factions to play with each other. Its the most radical change against the whole idea of One Tamriel, it makes no sense. But this thread is not about faction lock itself, its about why ZOS felt the need to implement it in the first place. Like I said, I get the idea. ZOS wants to make sure that the players respect the gameplay that Cyrodiil was intended for - playing for their faction, earning points towards winning the campaign, running scrolls and taking keeps. Defending together, attacking together, strategising to take heavily guarded keeps and such. I get it, and its a nice concept. Unfortunately, it only works in theory.
What ZOS does apparently not realise, is that the people who play games are the same people who live on this planet, in real life. And in real life, we (laughably) have the exact same issues as we do in the game: Not everyone cares for the greater good. In fact, (unfortunately) very little people do. I could open up a whole discussion about capitalism and climate change, but I think thats a bit off topic. What I am trying to say is: There will always be alot of people in Cyrodiil who do not play because they want to support their faction and win the campaign (The "Greater Good").
Now, why does this matter?
With faction locks, ZOS apparently tries to solve the problem that multiple people, especially more experienced players and groups, were "hopping" to different factions in order to either find better fights or play with their friends. ZOS however wants to give the people who care about the campaign the feeling that what they are doing is important, so they are taking away the "faction hopping" to prevent that. They want to force people to play Cyrodiil like it was intended: Playing for one faction and working together to win the campaign.
While this is theoretically a good idea, the approach is simply a band-aid fix: Half the PvP community is just mad at the Game Developers because they don't let them play with their friends and restrict them to play on one faction, that might possibly be way too crowded, forcing them to spend their evening in queues instead of playing for the weaker faction. PvP Guilds, who play this game for for competitive reasons, now cannot fight certain other guilds anymore that choose the same faction and instead always fight the same old groups. They are stuck on their faction and can't play for a weaker one to balance out the campaigns anymore.
All this stuff amounts to a much bigger problem ZOS apparently does not realise: If you want people to play the game a certain way, give them incentives to do so!
What do I mean by that?
With Elsweyr, Volendrung was introduced - a very strong weapon designed to disrupt the everyday-business of Cyrodiil a bit. While I dont want to argue about its performance in this post, I will say this: Generally, implementing stuff like these weapons is a great idea.
But if you add such a powerful artefact which obviously every organised group will try to obtain, why don't you use these exact tools to make players fight the way you want them to?
Just a few quick ideas to prove my point:
- Make sure you have to take back home keeps if your faction doesn't have them at the moment in order to keep it charged.
- Make sure to give the carrying player the objective to take an outpost to support their faction in order to keep the weapon charged
Instead, you can port anywhere with the weapon and ball groups will still go for the enemy home keeps to have their fun and kill everyone in it - obviously.
At the same time, implementing one kind of this weapon on the whole map will lead to the next big problem in Cyrodiil: Faction Stacking. You are concerned about Zergs stacking on top of each other because your servers can't handle the load. While that is totally understandable (as a game developer I have a rough feeling how tough it must be for your servers to handle a 40v40v40 battle), you dont use the opportunities to prevent such stacking.
You implement a really strong weapon in the game capable to turn fights around completely. This weapon would bring multiple opportunities to spread out the population in Cyrodiil.
As stated above, you could give the carrier an objective to take back a home keep or to hold an outpost for strategical reasons. Another idea is to make sure to spawn multiple (possibly a bit weaker) weapons (of the same or different kind) that require the people to go to multiple "hotspots" in order to:
1) split the population, instead of everyone going to one weapon and creating the famous faction stacking effect.
2) giving people something to fight for
Even without the weapons, you could do many different things in order to make players play like you want to (no matter if they WANT to play for the faction or not). Some ideas are stated here:
- Make sure that the Grand Warlords of each faction give players multiple "Hot-Spots" to fight at which is marked for everyone on the map and which is rewarded with a meaningful reward. Make sure that people who dont care about the faction go there because its worth it for other reasons (like for instance a lot of ap), instead of trying to force everyone to play for the faction, because thats never gonna happen. This will create multiple spots on the map where people can meet and fight, and achieve 3 things:
1) Spread out the population of Cyrodiil to multiple hot-spots.
2) Give people something to fight for
3) Give people who simply dont care about campaign scoring a reason to still fight for their faction
Faction Locks are not the way to make people play like you want to. Forcing people into certain play styles is the whole thing ESO tries to prevent, in both PvE and PvP. You should give people incentives to support a play style you want, rather than forcing them to play like you want.

Wings
Yes another wings thread. Make projectiles that stun no longer stun when the target has wings up I.E. make wings stop projectile stuns. After some open world pvp and battlegrounds the one thing I noticed is that im stunned all the time. Wings was the dk's anti burst damage. Not because it stops projectile damage but because it can stop a stun. This lets you line up your own burst damage the same way a nightblade can cloak and prep a combo or a sorc can stack attacks.
The fact that dk's can now be shot down by snipe tards sucks but not being able to mitigate that stun is way worse. Blocking is literally the only way to stop stuns now. Do you understand why literally every dk is some kind of tank?
You're probably thinking "L2P like everyone else". Magic DK's cannot dodge roll, teleport, cloak or remove debuffs. Wings was the only way to stop projectile stuns other than blocking. Guess what we now have to do... it involves a shield and standing still...

magplar, now for Elsweyr
i used to be pretty good with it, but they nerfed what i used. The initial burst of Vampire's Bane, gutted Dark Flare (wasn't using it, but still), gutted Total Dark. I am still pretty good, but i am noticeably weaker.
i am playing ranged single target, meaning fire staff front, resto backbar, light armor bright, jewels rattlecage, and skoria/pirate helm. I don't want to play melee with shock staff even if that would be better, but the gap closer sucks cuz the target can simply outrun it since this gap closer doesn't stick us to the target, it only flies to target's current position in the moment of usage. Also sweeps is hard to land. Crescent is good but hard to land.
what advice can you give for this patch? should i drop Total Dark for Flame Clench? Should i start wearing shield, for whatever reason? i can acquire anything in the game but i am not sure how should i play magplar ranged dd, not even Soul Assault ultimate isn't enough anymore.
EDIT: forgot to mention, i am veteran to pvping and ESO, don't come with useless advice for beginners, and avoid bloat posting. I am talking here about noCP pvp, both Cryodill and BGs.

ZoS, How are assets chosen to be converted into Furniture?
Every time we get new content I always wonder why did we get this asset as furniture but not that one?
So:
How are assets chosen to become furniture?
How are they converted to be usable as furniture and/or how much work is it to make a furniture item?
As a housing community we probably want EVERY in-game asset to be available as furniture. I would love to understand more about the process so when requesting new items be added I have some idea of what I am actually asking for.
How much more difficult are animated or items with special effects to add? Interactable items vs static ones?
Are structure pieces more difficult (choosing a piece of wall or a piece of floor)?
Is is possible to add more "natural" floor pieces such as grass, sand, dirt, bones etc? Specifically the pieces we see used as the "ground" around Tamriel?
@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom I don't see a tag for Cullen Lee, the guy who answered housing stuff in the one ESO Live video on Elsweyr Housing, could you please pass this along?

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom I don't see a tag for Cullen Lee, the guy who answered housing stuff in the one ESO Live video on Elsweyr Housing, could you please pass this along?

*BG MVP* Peace Tank™ - Ultra Tanky Sorc - Troll King - Very Punny - No Shields - LOL. (Wrathstone)
Wrathstone Update - Let the QQ continue™
Wolfhunter Update - TItle changed to Medal collecting, PvP Peace Tank™
Win a Chaosball, Domination, CTF match pretty much by yourself.
Notable Whispers/Commentary Received While Playing the Build:
"Ressing people who have been killed is a <expletive> move"
"This guy's health is like - crazy high going up"
"Go RP with your grandma"
"Is this the pvp side of the game? Nah, that was just some weird ass s@#$."
"He's taking no damage"
The Peace Tank™ aims to make DPS stacked builds call you a cheater, a sad RP'er and/or make people give up in frustration. Watching try-hards attempt with all their might to down you in a duel but you just /drink2 and /laugh at them while taunting them in /say chat until they forfeit granting you the win. Also feel free to type to your friends whilst surviving a zerg attack. This build is very survivable but you'll only gain a chance to surprise an enemy by reflecting their projectiles and "burst" (lol) them down.
Class: Sorc works best but DK and Nightblade also excel
Race: Nord
Mundus: Steed Stone
Armor:
Stam or health enchants. It doesn't bloody matter but magicka isn't ideal. If you want to invest in being a pest then spend money on tri stat glyphs. It doesn't freakin' matter.
Skills:
1h/s (Bar 1)
Vigor
Immoveable (Activates Armor Master. If you run Orgnum's then you can use hurricane)
Unstable Clanfear (Daedric SUmmoning Recovery Passive)
Heroic Slash (Debuff and gain ulti faster for your negates or )
Dark Deal (Gain stamina back if you need it. You don't though.)
Ulti: Spell Wall (Reflect enemy projectiles for a burst (lol). Time it right and you can kill them)
1h/s (Bar 2)
Unrelenting prison (I do it for the breaches)
Absorb Magic (A nice, quick heal against casters)
Unstable Clanfear (Daedric SUmmoning Recovery Passive)
Guard or purge
Defensive Rune ( For the Lols. It gives you time to emote.)
Ulti: Negate (For when you have to be a team player)
An example of some fun:
(Starting at or around 2:54:11)
I don't record myself playing games but you can find me in Bruma sometimes /drink2 'ing and sitting in forward camp tents for absolutely no reason besides a nice picnic and to tick you off for no freaking reason.

New Scrolls Order
About Us: We are a group of 490+ mostly soloist/lone wolves who came to together to help each other learn, improve and eventually master this game. What we offer: We offer both spontaneous and planned World Boss, Skyshard and Dungeon runs. Daily runs through undaunted pledge dungeons. Legerdemain/Gold farming. Introduction to normal, vet and trial dungeons. Battleground groups as well as multi-alliance Cyrodiil events. Housing events, aka Crib Crawls. An expert team of Master Crafters that can craft the gear, food, potions and glyphs that you need but also help you achieve Master Crafter status. Trial runs 3-5 times a week. A lottery that is run several times a month. We have several furniture stores filled with high end/rare furnishings available to NSO members only. We intermittently have a Trader (1-2 times a month). Most importantly, friendly and helpful guild mates.
