Best Patch Ever

Hello, ESO community

I know some of you are, as usual acting like someone shook your bee hive in regards to the new patch. However I among many people think this is possibly the best patch ever to go live and I would like to explain why. With the buff to dmg and self healing paired with the nerf to group healing and overall "tankyness". we are seeing our lovely dev team actually promote smart game-play which as you might have overlooked in your quarterly rage, but it is a very healthy change. Yes, I can agree that some dots need a nerf, but not to the over all dmg but to the stack-ability of *** abilities (Consuming trap). I think that most of you aren't considering the over all picture here and just look at you little nerfs and your little buffs here and there. May I suggest taking in a birds eye view of the situation and realizing that just because things are different, and you aren't familiar, that these changes, with a tiny bit of tweaking are actually better than they have been in a long time. The one thing I fear more than anything is that all of your complaining will push our devs into trying to yet again appease those of you who franky are just incapable of handling change. So i ask those on the dev team that may happen to read this, please drop the hammer, this is your game, listen but please don't let this community ever truly dictate where this game goes. This is an amazing patch. Thank you.

I think it's time for class change tokens ...

With all the recent changes to so many classes i think a class change token for the crown store is in order.

@ZOS_BrianWheeler please make it happen!

Fossilise needs a nerf ASAP

This skill just is just the most ridiculously over performing cc in the game and makes the old rune cage look tame in comparison. In CP pvp there are already enough snares , CC’s and immobilises to have 1 skill that wrap the 2 worst together. there is nothing worse than kiting on a medium armour build to be instantly wiped because of this skill alone. Combined with half a dozen dots even the most incapable player can sit there perm blocking, fossilise then leap or meteor and get easy kills with a 2 button combo.

In non CP most magica builds don’t have the stamina recovery to break the CC, dodge roll the immobilise and then break the next CC (most builds don’t have the barspace to run race against time). For some reason Rune cage was nerfed multiple ways in 1 update but this even better skill persists update to update without change.

5 useful tips to new ESO players.

Now I know this topic has been discussed before. I know everyone has their opinion on the subject. So I thought I would my 2 cents, 5 with inflation lol!
Just because you're a noob to this game. Doesn't mean you have to be one. So here hopefully is some actual advice.

1. Google is your best friend. If you don't know anything about this game? Then look it up. Don't be afraid to some reading and research before asking a question in the chat while in-game.
2. Don't pick all of the loot you come across. Be selective when you first start. Take what you only need. Because if you have multiple characters. That bank is going to fill up fast. And it will cost you 85,000 gold to upgrade it completely. And additional 64,500 to upgrade your bag. And that's not including the additional 12,250 to upgrade your mount. For a grand total of 162,00 to upgrade everything. So make sure you upgrade your bank first.
3. Daily Rewards. are your friend. When starting out in ESO, daily rewards are your best friend especially when it comes to earning some extra money. Now granted you get towards the end of the month. But 100,000 is nothing to sneeze at. Especially when you're just starting out.
4. Crafting: Now a lot of gamers will tell you to need to craft. Personally, I feel crafting is just busywork and a job. And I feel it has nothing to do with the actual game. And what I mean by that, is that it doesn't affect quests or overall story of the game. It's not like your going to extra gold or experiance from a quest giver. Because you crafted a really cool sword. And if the rumors are true about being able to build skill lines. Well, crafting has pretty much become a moot point. Although technically you will have to unlock it one of your characters and max it out first. It's okay if you want to craft, just don't put a lot of emphasis on it.
5. Crafting nodes and Loot and Treasure Chests: Now it took me a while to figure out resources will eventually respawn in time. So don't worry if some other player decides to run up and steal that resource you about to get yourself. It will respawn in time. Now loot is different, it's procedural. What that means when you see another player in the same room as you are and they are looting. And it looks like the room has been "picked clean" fret not. You can still loot the room. A little tip: when it comes to things growing back. Logging out of the game and logging back in the game. Is useful when it comes to respawning treasure chests.

So I hope these 5 tips will be actual advice to you as a new ESO player

Scalebreaker Patch Breakdown: What's changing and how!

Cas put together a rather comprehensive take on the finalized changes to the game, that are really quite extensive.

There's a written version: ESO Scalebreaker Changes Explained

And there's a video:
image

Here's the TL;DR
While there are a ton of Skill changes with the Scalebreaker Update, I think after you look through ALL of them (and there are a lot), you will realize that the general gameplay of ESO remains mostly the same. There were numerous cost and damage tweaks, but out of all the skill changes it was a small percentage that were drastically effected.

However, probably the most notable role affected here is the healer. Healing Springs has been changed, and healers will not be able to rely on it as their go to. Mutagen will need to be cast twice as often, which will further tax healer resources, making Magicka Recovery more important than ever. And, Necrotic Orb is now a one out at a time deal, meaning they won’t be able to spam them. This should translate to more meaningful and skilled gameplay for this role, which frankly I for one am happy about. Healing is easy, and has traditionally been more about the gear you are wearing, than mastering any sort of rotation. This should change significantly with this Update.

Lastly, I do think many meta Builds will shift after this Update, and probably more so than in recent Updates. Many morphs have more meaningful options, making it tough to decide just which you’ll want to use, particularly when it comes to Weapon Skills. I look forward to seeing what people come up with, and if anything it should at least create some change in a game that tends to hold the meta for a good amount of time.

Thoughts, everyone? :D

Curious; what skills are you currently using to activate 7th?

I am trying to figure out / find a spammable / rotation skill that is naturally cast within 10 seconds. So far failing.

"Abilities Audit" -???

"We've reduced/lowered/removed/changed/tweaked/reworked <ability/skill> to bring it into line with our gamewide ABILITY AUDIT for single target/AOE/blah blah blah...."

Could be interpreted as,

"We've homogenized the beejezuss out of the game by nerf-hammering everything the same or similar and stripped not only individual characters, but entire classes of their identity. Furthermore we've introduced a new crown store item: "Fun" - this was a part of the original game but people were having way too much so we will be selling it in tiny chunks via the crownstore until further notice"

seriously though - abilities audit is a horrible term. GET IN THE SEA.

Hi,

I selected "max" amount of craftable potions to make in alchemy without realizing the craft would be instant, consuming all of my mats I selected.
Like the addon multicraft before this one, I assumed the craft would not be instant and I could cancel out the craft when I thought I had enough by using alt to stop the process. I don't recall there being a confirmation prompt and if there is not one, there should absolutely be one! Just a heads up, as I suspect there will many of these cases occurring.

What Ever Happened to Scathing Mage?

I’m going to share with you my super secret build. It’s so good. You’ll be wandering why isn’t anyone talking about this. Ok, it’s because all the cool kids are concerned with getting 100k DPS making sweet Love to some iron Atros and not actually playing the game.

So you’re gonna need that Trials gear. No getting around it. You’ve heard of it. Seen people linking and collecting it. It’s so good. On Every magic character ever. 5 years in the making for the Dev team to give us the Magicka Equivalent of Vicious Ophidian.

False God’s Devotion

This set is perfect in every way even in plain un-Perfected form. It’s a DPS Set, a Crit Set, and a sustain set all rolled into one. You need it in your life like yesterday.

Now what do you pair it with? Julianos? BSW? Spider? Netch? Sun?

Scathing Mage

This is a grind few are willing to contend with. But it is so good. Ok you caught me. I probably wouldn’t grind this out either, but I so happened to have a, Ice Staff and a couple lightning staves of it lying around. Sure an inferno would be better, but it’s still good and I Love it I’m sure you will too.

So the bad news is You’re gonna need That Scathing Destro Staff to really make it Pop. But it’s game changing. Just like A BSW Inferno.

Iceheart Monster Set it gives you some Crit, a Damage shield, and it does a little bit of DPS for you. It procs non stop. Really should be BiS for any magic based character trying to get through VMA and dungeons.

A Few Disclaimers

First off, know that I am bad. Meaning I’ll often set my skills out in the wrong place, have to reposition, roll dodge, heal up, start rotation over again etc. I’ll probably never “get good” in that aspect of things.

Secondly, I strongly detest beating on dummies to perfect a rotation, so some will very well likely do much better than I with the same gear. It is possible also that I’m kind of ok, so some will struggle to get up to my level.

So, sloppy rotation. Probably not the most efficient rotation, definitely not BiS gear combos. Arcane Jewelry. Apprentice Mundus for spell power.

So my results on the Mournful Aegis 6.4mil dummy are:

Warden w/ Scathing ice staff front Maelstrom Inferno back - 31kDPS

Necromancer w/ Scathing Lightning Front Maelstrom Inferno back 34kDPS

Edit to add a little:

Here is a small clip of it in action. Notice how magic sustain is not really an issue. And using tripots instead of spell power pots. And don’t worry about the game puking all over itself because that’s just what it does.

some scummy gank blade as usually picking off people on roads instead of being useful, no biggy, throw on detection potion, root and stun him to hell and back while draining stamina.
pop potion.
get point blank gankbladed with all the critical bonuses despite having the giant eye of "i see you" while simutaniously not being able to see them at all, the guy was able to run upt to my face while it was active, burst me down with his "pro" macrobashspam combo of i win without even being revealed until the very end of my health bar.

so much for "GIT GUD" huh? one of the few counters for countering stealth spammers (which btw so much for all the crying they are dead, they are still everywhere like parasites) one of the strongest defensive abilities in the game doesn't even work.

this happened 3 times before i gave up and let him *** people at will.

I'm allowing it to download it again because I have no choice or other option really. Just wondering why it did this today when i obviously downloaded whole patch yesterday and even completed one of the DLC dungeons. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else and why? I also hope it doesn't do this everytime I want to play eso, which is everyday lol 😆😆😆

Streak fatigue but no Cloak fatigue?

$

Why is there a ramping increase cost "fatigue" mechanic on streak but not on cloak? At least you can still use ranged abilities on sorcs when they streak away, however, when a NB cloaks they are completely un-targetable. Does not make sense to me, people complain about how powerful cloak is all the time, and forces people to use expensive reveal potions in PvP. Why no add fatigue to cloak as it exists on roll dodge and streak currently.

How to Balance PvE & PvP

$

Iv'e noticed and have heard from the community a lot of different issues lately with PvE that stems from the changes that Zenimax makes to try to balance PvP and vice versa. To be honest this game is very unbalanced and the main reason in my opinion is the fact that you cannot balance PvP without affecting PvE and cannot balance PvE without affecting PvP. My solution might take a while to implement but seems like a very straight to the point fix and something that will make things easier for everyone. So why not just make four morphs for each move in the game. Two morphs per move for PvE and two morphs per move for PvP. Only allow PvE morphs to be used in PvE and only allow PvP moves to be used in PvP. For instance if you were to have PvE morphs on your bar in PvP the skills would just be grayed out and not be able to be used. This way Zenimax would have the freedom to make changes freely to how they feel the game needs to be balanced without affecting both aspects of PvP and PvE when only one aspect needs to be touched. Just an idea tho. I know it would take a while to implement but why not make the game better each patch instead of making it more and more unbalanced with every patch.

Vanilla Eso for veterans/pvp

$

Its about that time! As this game deteriorates with every patch and the quality of pvp as a whole, If Eso could some how bring a pvp campaign out thus cycling through all the most iconic patch's they've had in the past thus reverting abilities and classes to their former state in those patches, for example if you had a month campaign and it cycled weekly through the most demanded patches like 1.6, one tamerial, morrowind etc
lets be real the game isnt getting better for pvper's and this idea i have not the slightest doubt it would revitalize pvp and bring back so many veterans included!
i'm pretty sure this would be relative to the wow approach in some aspects. A campaign for veterans should be considered thought!
