I watched a Twitch livestream on Saturday night by Ninjamonkey0169. He does a lot with housing and every single home he has are pretty much awesome. I thought that I'd recommend his channel to anyone interested in housing and of course JHartEllis.

Ninjamonkey0169 did an amazing job with his Grand Topal Hideaway and the video is on the Twitch channel to see.

What is going on with the customer support in this game? This is really sad....

I just completed my Rimmen Inn room today. I had more that I wanted to put in, a bowl of rice, a sugar bowl, a ball of yarn etc but I met the item limit unfortunately.

I would have made it an open house with EHT and invited JHartEllis around but my antivirus reports one of EHT's files as malware, deletes it and refuses to let me use it. I contacted the antivirus company to ask them to check it and mark it as non harmful so it can be used.

Against my better judgment, I will give this one last go. I believe that, for the most part, the discussions have been fun and enjoyable. I feel that I've gotten to know some people on other factions a bit, and it is cool being killed by someone you recognize! :) Anyway, let's stick to talks of builds, funny stories (like the time I got jumped by 8 AD as I rode across the bridge and they bashed me to death as I fell out of my chair laughing), map strategy, which in game snacks you prefer, and of course... Ice trebs.

Who are these people dominating under-50 BGs?

Who are these people who dominate under-level-50 battlegrounds???

Normal battlegrounds are actually fun. And while I’m by no means the best player, I am not bad—I pretty regularly have games where I have by far the most kills in the server, and I essentially never feel ineffective even when I’m trying out weird builds.

But when I try to play battlegrounds on characters I’m leveling up, it is just excruciating. Every single match, there are 1 or 2 players who just completely dominate everyone. They are essentially unkillable and basically instantly kill everyone. The damage numbers they put out are ridiculous, and are only possible if you’re decked out in actual full sets that haven’t been outleveled. And, of course, if they’re playing against normal under-50 players, they are playing people with a hodgepodge of random items, because it is basically a silly waste of time to try to accumulate item sets on a character you’re leveling. Or at least it’s a waste of time to anyone who doesn’t want to farm low-level item sets for the purpose of having fleeting moments of complete dominance in matches where they have a ridiculously unfair advantage.

And my question basically is this: Who does this? To be those people, you actually have to have grinded for full sets of gear that you’ll rapidly outlevel, just so that you can dominate some BGs in a completely unfair fashion.

I’ll also note that it’s not that these players just are level 49 or something and just have way more passives than everyone they’re playing against. The last BG I played had someone dominating like this who was level 28. He didn’t have more passives than everyone else. He was hitting non-crit Curses on me for about 4200. Now, my character I’m leveling doesn’t have a ton of resistances at the moment, but he’s got like 8500 spell resistance and I was spamming a lot of Mass Hysteria, which would’ve given me 5280 more. I doubt this guy could’ve gotten to Light Armor 50 by level 28, but let’s assume he did and that he had 4884 spell penetration. To hit that hard with Curse in a BG, he’d need to have a tooltip of about 9700 on Curse. And if we take the perhaps more realistic assumption that he doesn’t have Light Armor that high at level 28, he’d need a tooltip of about 10,600 on Curse. Of course, those numbers are reachable in normal BGs, and obviously easy to reach with CP. But we are talking about under-50 BGs here. You simply cannot hit that hard without having a strong build with set bonuses on items that you haven’t outleveled.

So this guy is legitimately farming level 28 item sets that he can briefly dominate people in BGs with? It’s just nuts to me, and ruins the fun for everyone else who plays in those games. Which is actually particularly important because many players in under-50 BGs are actually new players (as opposed to people like me that aren’t new but are just leveling new characters). The fact that under-50 BGs are just made completely unfun by people who have farmed low-level item sets—for the express purpose of having a ridiculous advantage they could not get in normal BGs—surely discourages new players from continuing to play. I had a legitimately new player on my team today who got dominated by the aforementioned level 28 guy and expressed a lot of frustration at the game.

I realize it’s within the ruleset of the game for people to do this. But they really are ruining the experience of under-50 BGs for the vast majority of other people who don’t want to farm item sets they’ll soon outlevel anyways. And I think they’re doing it in order to be able to dominate in a way they very likely couldn’t in a more level playing field.

Si vis pacem, para bellum

So running Maelstrom arena this weekend I took notice of this set:
Para Bellum Set
  • (2 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Stamina
  • (3 items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
  • (4 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Stamina
  • (5 items) Gain a damage shield that absorbs 13966 damage if you have not taken any damage in the last 10 seconds.

Link for set information: https://eso-sets.com/set/para-bellum

Am I missing something, or there is a situation that this set is useful?
If not, which is my guess, how come it remained untouched for so many years?

PS:
The name is from Latin and used in this famous proveb: "Si vis pacem, para bellum". It translated to "If you want peace, prepare for war".

More like, If you want to waste 5 slots, wear this set.

Tracking Daily Writ Reward Drop Rates & Refining Rates

So, I was beginning to track the rewards that were dropping for me from doing my writs daily. I do writs on 27 characters a day (36 of them now!!), so I felt like I would have enough data to over ride any "noise" that was in the data from random RNG. I was initially tracking it on a spreadsheet, when I began to talk to a friend who writs add-ons, at the possibility of creating an add-on to track the drops of each. This led me to be searching the ESOUI add-ons, and come to find out, that Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter (BEST ADD-ON EVER FOR DOING WRITS!!!! Love you @Dolgubon ) has been tracking this information for me for a while now. I just had to parse it out of the output that it gives me in chat. So I took the data and plugged it into Google Sheets to come up with some data about the drop rates of the major rewards from doing crafting writs.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yQDUjYNQVsIFl0ktkbkSlfYPkzP6pgCOTMQ-qCuzfaI/

*Spreadsheet has data about the returns from several crafting professions
1. Refining - Drop rates of Gold, Purple, Blue, and Green improvement materials, along with prices to purchase raw materials at to "break even"
2. Writ Rewards - Summary of the percentages of drops for "big" drops from doing daily writs. Data is aggregate across all characters, some of whom have limited motif knowledge, some that were learning traits while data was collected
3. Requirement/Writ Profits - FOR MAX LEVEL WRITS ONLY - Rotation of writ requests, materials needed, as well as profit analysis based on my own recorded drop rates
4. Master Merchant - Prices of the relevant items needed either to do writs, or writ rewards, to evaluate profits/costs. Updated every few weeks or so when I remember.
5. Remainder of the tabs are just where I record my individual information that the other tabs pull from.

A couple of notes about the data:

* Alt account does not have access to Summerset, so there is no Jewelry Crafting data for it (Gained access with release of Elsweyr, so is leveling JC line)
* Jewelry drops were changed after the release of Summerset, to only include Chromium Grains (they initially included Terne, Iridium, and Zircon), so the drop rate is artificially low for Jewelry Chromium Grains
* This data stretches back approximately a year, pre-Summerset release, my main account was therefore leveling up Jewelry Crafting through the data collection, as well as researching traits in Jewelry, this will bring down the drop rates for Jewelry crafting.
* For a majority of the data collection, Jewelry Writs were done at 8 a day at level 5 (Platinum), and 7 a day at level 1 (Pewter), this will also bring down the Chromium grain collection (but not surveys, it appears)
* All crafters know the 9 basic racial styles, all 4 base game purple, as well as Hollowjack and Skinchanger motifs.
* 15 crafters are full 9-trait, 15 are full 8-trait, the last 6 are learning traits.
* All crafters know all traits for Alchemy (with the exception of Clam Gall and Powdered Mother of Pearl and Dragon Bile and Blood on some), and all stones for Enchanting translated (a few are missing Hakeijo)
* For provisioning, crafters are only learning the purple recipes that drop from doing provisioning writs as I accumulate them. They also all know the Psijic Ambrosia gold recipe, since I have gotten thousands of fragments for that as well. This is why the drop rate of provisioning is so low, since only 1 character knows all the purple/gold recipes. I have started doing Tier 2/3/4/5 provisioning writs to gain access to drops of other purple recipes, which will slowly be learned by characters.

*The alt account was created during this time frame, so all the leveling of the skill lines, as well as the trait research and motif learning was all done while they were doing writs, which is probably why the drop rates on the alt account are slightly lower than those on the main account. Other than surveys which seems to be pretty consistent across both accounts.

I'm just sharing this here so that people who are looking for information about drop rates have a place to find this. I'll plan on periodically updating the spreadsheet every couple of weeks as I collect more data from doing writs.

*It appears that surveys have an approximately 1/8 chance of dropping while doing a writ. This is consistent at all levels of writs.
*It appears that the drop rate for a gold improvement material is a little under 30% (will have to check more on Chromium, but the recent tracking seems to support a similar drop rate)
*Alchemy/Enchanting master writs drop the more commonly, probably due to the ease of getting the drop rate highest (at about 1/7, or 14%)
*Without most motifs, the drop rate for Blacksmithing/Woodworking/Clothing master writs appears to be around 1/15 or 6% (but going up to about 1/10, or 10% with some basic motif knowledge)

EDIT: ADDED on 3/9/19

Added another tab to the document to try and determine profit from doing writs on a daily basis. It looks like writs on a single character will net approximately a 467k profit per month.

By necessity, some things needed to be estimated while creating it.

I used MM numbers from PC/NA (I'm in 3 trade guilds in 3 different locations, all with more than 50 million a week in sales guild wide)

I used values calculated from the drop rate of the writs that I've been tracking.

Master writs were valued based on a voucher sell price of 650g/voucher.

UPDATED: 7/24/19

EDIT 8/11/19

With Scalebreaker's release on PC tomorrow 8/12, data has updated with the last of the writs that will be done for this patch.

*notes

1) Master writ drop rate seemed to go up, I believe this is due to the sheer number of motifs some of my characters learned during the anniversary event.

2) Provisioning rates were low. 6 new characters who knew virtually no recipes probably bought this down some.

3) Chromium rates are still artificially low for the overall (alt account only has 4 characters doing max level writs) it's at nearly 25% for the main account.

4) Survey rates might be off because of bugs early in Elsweyr.

5) Individual rates for accounts can be seen on other tabs at the end, just didn't want to clutter the initial pages.

Declining Population

The population on all PvP servers has dropped dramatically since the imposition on faction lock.......need to change something STAT. As a player who has been here since beta, I have toons of all three factions I have carefully curated for PvP, but only those eligible for the 30 day CP campaign have anyone to play with. Well intentioned but poorly executed.

What Ever Happened to Scathing Mage?

I’m going to share with you my super secret build. It’s so good. You’ll be wandering why isn’t anyone talking about this. Ok, it’s because all the cool kids are concerned with getting 100k DPS making sweet Love to some iron Atros and not actually playing the game.

So you’re gonna need that Trials gear. No getting around it. You’ve heard of it. Seen people linking and collecting it. It’s so good. On Every magic character ever. 5 years in the making for the Dev team to give us the Magicka Equivalent of Vicious Ophidian.

False God’s Devotion

This set is perfect in every way even in plain un-Perfected form. It’s a DPS Set, a Crit Set, and a sustain set all rolled into one. You need it in your life like yesterday.

Now what do you pair it with? Julianos? BSW? Spider? Netch? Sun?

Scathing Mage

This is a grind few are willing to contend with. But it is so good. Ok you caught me. I probably wouldn’t grind this out either, but I so happened to have a, Ice Staff and a couple lightning staves of it lying around. Sure an inferno would be better, but it’s still good and I Love it I’m sure you will too.

So the bad news is You’re gonna need That Scathing Destro Staff to really make it Pop. But it’s game changing. Just like A BSW Inferno.

Iceheart Monster Set it gives you some Crit, a Damage shield, and it does a little bit of DPS for you. It procs non stop. Really should be BiS for any magic based character trying to get through VMA and dungeons.

A Few Disclaimers

First off, know that I am bad. Meaning I’ll often set my skills out in the wrong place, have to reposition, roll dodge, heal up, start rotation over again etc. I’ll probably never “get good” in that aspect of things.

Secondly, I strongly detest beating on dummies to perfect a rotation, so some will very well likely do much better than I with the same gear. It is possible also that I’m kind of ok, so some will struggle to get up to my level.

So, sloppy rotation. Probably not the most efficient rotation, definitely not BiS gear combos. Arcane Jewelry. Apprentice Mundus for spell power.

So my results on the Mournful Aegis 6.4mil dummy are:

Warden w/ Scathing ice staff front Maelstrom Inferno back - 31kDPS

Necromancer w/ Scathing Lightning Front Maelstrom Inferno back 34kDPS

Edit to add a little:

Here is a small clip of it in action. Notice how magic sustain is not really an issue. And using tripots instead of spell power pots. And don’t worry about the game puking all over itself because that’s just what it does.

Volendrung and Emperor Faction

When the news of the artifact first came out, the panel said it was designed as a counter for the other factions to Emperor, that the emperor would not be able to pick it up, however, a faction having emp doesnt stop the emperor's group picking it up.. its completely soul destroying to have fought against an Emp for hours on end, claw back keeps, work hard, feel like you achieved something and then BAM emp group has hammer and in under ten mins you lose everything you worked hours to achieve, especially when there is a low pop on the map. This has to stop. The faction with emperor should not be able to have the hammer, it should only drop on the opposing two factions side. @ZOS_BrianWheeler you need to do something about this because its too much for a faction to have Emp AND the artifact

The purpose of this thread is to give you a place to post your current top two pain points with Werewolves. Our new Class Representatives will be keeping a close eye on this thread, and will utilize it to gather additional feedback for the notes they’re currently compiling for their first meeting with the Dev Team next week. Please be sure and keep your post clear and succinct, and focus more on what is currently frustrating you rather than potential solutions. Thanks!

20+ minute queues aren't fun, and as much as I love BGs the thought of logging in, and having to wait so long to get some solid PvP is quite discouraging.

Healer looking for raiding/progression group

Hey,
I’m looking for a raiding/progression group for any vDLC Trial with hm progression or title prog in mind.
I mainly heal on Warden but also on Templar, and completed all Crag hm, vMol hm, vHof, vAS+2, vCR+2 (all combinations as kite, some as groupheal) and vSS+fire hm. I also have a Sorc and Necro healer but haven’t used them much.
1-3 raiding days a week would be nice, and I can make time on any day in the evening or on weekends. Looking for a mature guild environment with people that want to work on getting better and without toxic children which never leave their rooms.

Pm me on discord pls: Gattopardo#3298 or in game same @.

[Balance] Magicka Templars

Templars are really strong this patch.

I will talk about my experience in battlegrounds. That means I am talking about noCP PvP.

The class has the best counter vs the current DoT meta, that is fine but at the same time they have the best counter vs direct damage too. This is not how you balance a class, ZOS!

I bet templars dont have enough slots, because they have so many useful skills.
  • Extremely cheap bursty ultimate.
  • Spamable skill that heal based on the damage
  • Gap-closer that stun and set the enemy off balance
  • Minor protection passive that is almost 100% up
  • Delayed burst
  • Counter to direct damage
  • Best execute right now
  • Cheap healing ulti that gives 10s major protection
  • Burst heal
  • Purge with HoT
  • Armor buff with amazing resource recovery
  • Passive 30% snare in 12m radius (in BG this is the whole fight place with the new maps)

What the class is missing is mobility which comes from the vampire skill line and major sorcery which comes from mage skill line with amazing dot.

I hope that ZoS find a reasonable way to tune down the class and not nerf it to the ground. This is not my intention but we all have to admit that the class overperform in BGs right now.
