Can we please get rid of the 200 Transmute Crystal limit, I have hundreds of these things on my characters which is a huge waste of item space.

I am scared for next Monday. Wonder how smooth this will go if it does go smooth. Scared we might not be able to play for a few days. There will be a massive amount of downloading going on. Did they say when will this download will happen?

The Official North America PC PVP Faction Discords!

Hello! I'm Care, Creator and Moderator of the Official PVP Discord servers for North America PC. These servers and their decisions have been the focal point of success for their factions by those factions guild masters (except Daggerfall clearly but I hope to change that at some point) Their goal is to reestablish faction loyalty and bring the factions Guild Masters to even ground where they can work together to win their campaigns and better their factions through strategizing, training, and faction wide events!

These Discords abolish collusion and cross-faction play to keep all factions in the mindset of winning their campaigns as originally designed. This mindset and our verification process (see below) is how we keep our discord on topic and not a zone chat 2.0. We also use these discords to manage the campaigns population to reduce lag and faction stacking along with distributing help to the campaigns that need it. Along with that, give 24 map updates, score changes, and report on notable events that happen during said campaigns so that even when you're not on you can know what to expect when ya do. For basic communication, there are also plenty of channels for voice, theory crafting, general conversation, bounties, trading, events, and private channels for GM's to do the same. I can assure you every discord is 100% safe and secure and will do everything it can to bring out the best of your faction and what it can do. (Along with much much more!)

For verification, we require that all members post a picture of their character list in the #Verification tab for security reasons. For example, we want to know if you are playing against us or are a spai, or just a huge zone chat troll that we need to closely monitor. After you post your character list to the #Verification tab you will be given a rank judged by the number of characters you have on your faction. Fear not non-faction loyalists, we also have ranks for your kind as well! If you find yourself to have multiple characters on multiple factions you will find yourself in a part-timer rank, though if you have multi factional characters, and are dedicated to one faction you can dispute this in the #Verification tab for a higher rank by getting gm's or other players from your faction to vouch for you.

Here is a list of the obtainable ranks:

Spai : Lowest rank, reserved for cross-faction players currently playing on the opposite faction or is someone seen frequently betraying their faction. This rank has the lowest visibility in the discord.

Part-Timer : Players who play cross-faction but are currently locked to their faction campaigns and are working for our faction for the time of their promotion. Players with this rank are required to alert if they intend to switch factions after a campaign is completed. Failure to address your faction transfer can result in a permanent ban depending on the severity. This rank has medium visibility in the discord.

Verified : This rank is for the trusted faction loyalists and full-time players of their faction. Please note this rank does not require 100% of the characters of their faction, only a majority. This rank has the second-highest discord visibility.

Guild Master: The Official NA PVP Discord is run by these players. This rank has access to every channel including the #war-council where we decide on events, discuss politics, and often fight with each other about how to run a faction.

Streamer : Pretty self-explanatory, these are the members of our faction that are twitch streamers. If those players meet our criteria of their factions Streamers then they will have their streams announced to the entire faction in the discord.

Cartographer : This rank is for the few that wish to help out around the discord and post daily map and campaign updates of their assigned campaign or multiple. Think of them as mini moderators.

Raid Leader: Extensions of the Guild Masters, these are their officers and +1’s. Every GM is entitled to up to two Raid Leaders. These ranks share the same visibility.

Now for the Discord links, Due to me creating these in stages, you will find that some of these discords to be more developed than others. I made EP first to fix their faction when i returned from a long break from the game and found that they were on a losing streak due to being the most divided they had ever been (and now they haven't lost Kaal since!). I made the AD one to save the faction after a certain tyrant sought vengeance against AD with the help of a certain streamer on DC (and now the lowest population faction is ahead of the highest population faction). And now Im making the DC one today at the time of this post because I want dc to play to win again instead of playing to follow their favorite streamer around in a zergrush/vendetta that lags the servers and loses campaigns (pm me if you want more details on that topic).

(I also wish to be as neutral as I can between all three and will not be sharing any information between them, I will never sell your faction out or favor one faction more than the others, these discords are solely made to better the game and create content when Zenimax falls short and not for personal gain.)

Top players really run meta build?

This is something I've been thinking of.
We all know the current stamina pvp meta is new moon fury bloodspawn, new moon spriggan or similars still around new moon.

I copied exactly one or those builds from top players which seems to hold so easily 1vs2 or 1vs3 with those sets.
I am all golden out and the result is terrible.

I know maybe I am not a great player and might be a l2p issue, but I played a Nord stamden in heavy new moon fury Bloodspawn with over 5k weapon damage and 30k resistances and even if i keep all my buffs up and rotate my vigor and arctic blast i still receive 13k executioners, 8k frags, 10k assassin's scourge (which i don't see casted never btw) and in a 1vs2 even using los i get destroyed within seconds.

At the same time I encounter other stamden or stamcros which receive barely no damage from me and destroy me.

And when i gently ask them: wow you are so good do you mind sharing what you run?
This is their answer:
Pay me 300k or l2p.

So this made me think, maybe they run something like pariah new moon? Armor master new moon?

I don't know guys, tell me if i should still try fury new moon to learn to play better and it's just a l2p issue because I don't know anymore.

And btw i am talking of CP enabled using good CPs same in the youtube videos and so on, 81 points ironclad and master of arms etc, so the damage should be there.

What set/skill combo does this?

So today Telel encountered something they haven't seen in a long long time. Not since yokedan and phoenix were adjusted.

Now as this was obviously so fun for the skilled player who figured out this divine combination of sets and class skills Khajiit would definitely like to know how they pulled off such wonderful acts ,of skill. Perhaps so that even a player as bad as Telel might aspire to pull themselves up from the dregs of zerging and towards pro solo fun times.

Sancre Tor, this is how easy the game has become.

Come on ZOS, this quest used to scare people 5 years ago! It was also a quest where you learned to kite, dodge roll and block for incoming damage as if you were running a dungeon solo.

I am level 21, using crafted Hunding/s/Nightmother level 16 gear (all training trait) and Orzorga's Tripe Trifle Pocket for food. Bow skill line at level 10 when I started the quest.

I just bow light attacked myself through the whole quest... Health didn't even drop below 24K... Didn't even have to use healing skills...

ESO Linux, Wine and DXVK

Well it's been awhile since i've posted. But I did a performance test recently with latest Wine-Stable and DXVK ver 1.5.4 ..

I am now getting better performance in linux for ESO compared to Windows 10. About 30FPS more in cities and about 10-15 more FPS in dungeons.

Just FYI for those of you who might be considering linux.

But ofcourse hold out for next week, all of this might change.

I really enjoy playing the underdog class, and mag warden has been my favorite for some time...but the double bow build really seems to take the cake. At least for me. Don’t worry, I’m enjoying the challenge!

I’ve got my character geared to the teeth. Well at least I thought it was wearing Relequen and Tsovkins, I got the warband bow that I was very excited for. Then I see Lokke is now the BiS.

Converted my StamSorc to double bow because it was my least played character and trying to create an interest in it.

I get to the point of hitting a little north of 30k 6mil dps and figured “this thing might be cool” So it’s time to go terrorize the group finder pugs with it! It’s a terror alright. I’m terrible with this character. How TF can I hit 32k on a dummy and suck this bad in dungeons?

You know these unsuspecting dungeon delvers we’re cringing the first snipe they heard go off. It’s every bit as bad and noticeable as a sorc whomping out daedric mines every 5 seconds.

I waited for it and sure enough here it comes. Your group members voted to kick you from the party. I don’t blame them. It was pretty bad. But why? How is it so bad? My ice warden hits 29k dps and wrecks stuff, blazing through content no problem. This double bow felt like it did 12k outside the dummy. Wtf. Maybe I possibly need to learn how to play it better? For now, I just left a lasting impression that most every double bow player I’ve ever seen is flipping terrible and I added to that statistic.

I have heard going with a necromancer or warden is better, but I’m trying to get some interest in this stam sorc, for me personally.

Sounds simple right. It is. It got what I generally consider good enough damage on a 6 mil dummy. Then I go to play it and it really bad. Why? Think I may have a Lokke bow lying around I can try hoping it may make some difference.


Since CP cap is stagnant...what about item set level increase?

With all of the balance changes and CP lock out, do you foresee item set levels being increased? I have thought this ever since One Tamriel dropped. What are your thoughts?

I have never really played end game stamina before besides some pvp builds, leveling, and a solo vma stamsorc (amazing at vma!)

I started to farm some stamina items for setup. Veli head and shoulders, Relequen body. Lokke weapons and jewelry. Masters bow.

Do you prefer duel wield or two handed for melee slot? Which is easier to learn as far as the rotation? Which is better?

I am obviously more accustomed to DW per my solo stam sorc, but I am having trouble getting lock one handed weapons so far. I have a one handed sword and a 2H axe.

I have some more farming to do, quite a bit more objectively, but I am just curious what others are finding.

Anyone else finding Necromancer underwhelming?

Dont get me wrong, the animations are beautiful but it just feels like a less effective Sorc with spoopy themes.

Blastbones is glitched and does far less damage than the tooltip implies it should, not to mention its horrendous pathing and the fact that they can be killed in pvp.

The class lacks many things that most other classes have such as an execute and while you can pick these up with weapon skills the passives actively (passively?) Discourage you from doing so if youre a dps.

The beautiful flaming doom balls are weak compared to other classes spammables and the ricochet skulls fail to properly proc sometimes.

Its just a bit surprising it was allowed to make it to live in the state its in.

So if you were given a decision to alter drop system as you see fit, then which approach would you choose.

2. would mean, that bosses would no longer drop gear set pieces. Instead they would drop some sort of currency, that you can trade for their drop.
3. would mean both. Bosses drop some gear, and small ammount of currency, that can be exchanged for whatever gear you want. So no matter how unlucky your RNG is you can grind out any piece of equipment.
4. would mean, that you can pay gold at the start of the dungeon to increase the droprate of one set piece you want. This gold is lost the moment you pay it, and NPC despawn the moment you or your team kills the first boss. But given enough gold you could guarantee the drop of any set piece. You could only pay for one piece/run.

Calculations and Server Lag, with Mathematical comparisons of Mechanics (Pvp Oriented)

The way I look at it, the best bet to fix server lag is to generally reduce calculations on the server. Which can be implemented in a variety of mechanical changes to the game. Generally zerging is the root cause of server lag, where anything that is used by zergs will drastically raise server calculations. Most of the lag/ping you see is due to the servers unless you are from extremely long distances. As a reference, for me in the North east corner of the US connecting to the NA server in Texas I sit around 110ms ping, where my connection to Texas sits around 11ms.

gcd = global cooldown (1 ability per ~second)
dot = damage over time
hot = healing over time
aoe = area of effect
proc = when a condition is met, an effect will happen

For a basic understanding of how calculations affect server load causing lag Try to recognize the trends that happen as population increases

Calculations for single targets
1v1 each uses a single target for their gcd = 1 player * 1 player hit * 2 teams = 2 calculations
10 man v 10 man each uses a single target for their gcd = 10players*1player hit*2 teams = 20 calculations
20 man v 20 man each uses a single target for their gcd = 20players*1player hit*2 teams = 40 calculations
30 man v 30 man each uses a single target for their gcd = 30players*1player hit*2 teams = 60 calculations

Calculations for a 10 tick dot
1v1 each uses a 10 tick dot for their gcd = 1 player * 10 ticks * 2 = 20 calculations
10 man v 10 man each uses a dot for their gcd = 10players*10 ticks*2 = 200 calculations
20 man v 20 man each uses a dot for their gcd = 20players*10 ticks*2 = 400 calculations
30 man v 30 man each uses a dot for their gcd = 30players*10 ticks*2 = 600 calculations

Calculations for aoes
1v1 each uses an aoe/single target for their gcd = 1 player * 1 player hit * 2 teams = 2 calculations
10 man v 10 man each uses an aoe for their gcd = 10players*10players hit*2 teams = 200 calculations
20 man v 20 man each uses an aoe for their gcd = 20players*20players hit*2 teams = 800 calculations
30 man v 30 man each uses an aoe for their gcd = 30players*30players hit*2 teams = 1800 calculations

combination of aoe and dots in one (think seige, caltrops, destro ult, wall of elements, etc)
1v1 each uses a 10 tick dot aoe for their gcd = 1 player * 1 player*10 ticks * 2 = 20 calculations
10 man v 10 man each uses a 10tick aoe dot for their gcd = 10players*10players*10 ticks*2 = 2000 calculations
20 man v 20 man each uses a 10tick aoe dot for their gcd = 20players*20players*10 ticks*2 = 8000 calculations
30 man v 30 man each uses a 10tick aoe dot for their gcd = 30players*30players*10 ticks*2 = 18000 calculations
Where Procs come in
Where things get worse is when procs get introduced on top of this. For instance, when the meta shifts towards proc sets. Especially when those procs end up doing an aoe or dot which hit other players. Imagine taking #calculations + (proc chance*number of chances * proc effect)

for a worse case scenario a 30v30 aoe dot from before, but everyone had single 10tick aoe dot proc 10% chance set

30players*30players*10 ticks*2 = 18000 calculations
==> 18000 +0.1chance*10chances*(30players*30players*10 ticks*2) = 36000 possible calculations from each player just pressing one button each.
Where time plays in
Now to further put it into perspective, all of the above is just summing up a single round of gcds. It may look like maybe aoes are the issue and maybe they should be capped (zos tried before), but the underlying issue is when calculations can all overlay at once. so lets look at comparing a round of 30v30 aoe vs 30v30 dots over 5 gcds.

1800,.,.,.1800,.,.,.1800,.,.,.1800,.,.,.1800 = 9000 Calculations across 5 gcds

18k,.,.,.36k,.,.,.54k,.,.,.72k,.,.,.90k = 90,000 calculations applied across 5 gcds
(notice the ramp up effect, the more ticks and duration an ability has, the greater the ramp up effect)
What is funny is how lag pushes players to cause more lag. For instance say over the 5 gcds you can only seem to get 1 ability off, well then find what does the most damage in that time. I'm sure you will find that the longest duration aoe dot will most likely do the most dps reliably ....which in turn furthers the lag.

Here are the summed up inherent issues with how over time effects and aoes affect the server. I also provided solutions talked about over the years in multiple forum threads. To make it easier to discuss certain solutions I have numbered them. There are other issues with the servers also talked about in threads before like the bot checker affecting the server. Keep in mind that just about any of these could be implemented through battle spirit so pve is not affected.

dot/hot issue: Calculations will stack, causing the load on the server to essentially ramp up in calculations and later remain at this ramped up state once in rotation. This will cause a wave like feeling, where the server is fine> dot rotation> lag> durations die down>lag dies down> reapply rotation> lag>>>>repeat

Direct Mechanical Solutions to Reduce Calculations from dots
1-Make over time effects no longer stack (reduces the ramping effect, only hurts mindless zerg spammers, promotes build diversity, prevents future dot proc metas like sloads)
2-Cap how many over time effects can be applied on a target (prevents Xv1 suffocation by numbers, won't have the issue of two players running the same ability, prevents zergs from stacking hots to limit the ramp effect)
3-Make over time effects snapshot the attacker's/healer's stats to avoid recalculating the base value each tick (stops recalculations of the base values)
4-Less ticks, balance for equal damage (will just result in less calculations, will feel more like how seige ticks on you)

Indirect Solutions to dots
5-Nerfing damage so dots are used as a tool instead of a lifestyle (Will just cause community uproar, but would eventually lead to less calculations, don't bother discussing)
6- Try to remove any unnecessary dots tacked on to abilities(pretty trivial, but less dots = less calculations)

aoe issue: Can instantly cause a "burst" of calculations. This would cause a spike feeling, where the server appears to freeze for one instant (seen when a good bomb goes off)

Direct Mechanical Solutions to Reduce Calculations to aoe
7-Aoe caps(tried before, but made zergs practically not wipe-able, drastically hurt solo/smallman potential)
8-Place aoe caps on non ultimate abilities (would promote group coordination over mindless uncounterable spam, Reduces how much smallman would lose with blanket aoe caps)
9-Make Aoes scale with players initially hit, like how proxy det works but with a smaller modifier, for example [+5% per player hit] (over time leads to zergs spreading out, less aoe calculations)
10- Make Heals apply to only group members when in a large group (could talk about also reducing the max group size to 12)

Indirect Solutions to aoe
11-Nerfing Aoe damage (again would cause uproar and drastically hurt solo/smallman, but eventually leads to less builds utilizing only aoe, don't bother discussing)
12- Remove unnecessary aoe (again trivial, less aoe = less calculations)

Change/add to the Emperor conditions to discourage Boosting

More often than not it's always the same players who actively Boost millions of AP to ensure whenever their faction crowns an Emp, it's them. It's never decided by skill or contribution to the team. Emperor's get 2x Regen across the board, 2x Ultimate gain, and 75% more resources across the board. A well built player suddenly becomes nigh unstoppable a lot of the time short of throwing at least a dozen players at them. With such a large boost to a player's combat capability, the conditions to award these buffs should be more than just shadowy dealings at a back keep with a couple cross faction buddies.
