Free-Up Character Names

ESO devs need to consider releasing long unused character names. This game is now 6 years old and people who created characters in the first week of the game and never played again still have character names reserved all these years later. Most MMO's have addressed these issues with freeing up names after they have been labeled as inactive for a determinant amount of time. If an account has not been played in 3+ years (half this game's lifespan) then that should be a pretty good conversation starter for releasing names.

To be sure I am not asking that anybody who has characters 3 years old & inactive should have all their names wiped but if somebody goes and attempts to make a character with that name then it should be stripped.

PLUS lets be honest ZOS.. this will give you an influx of name change cash. You love cash.

Once there was a game that was so much fun, people couldn't wait to log in. When they did, they completely lost track of time and ended up spending hours and hours without moving from away from their desks. Wives would complain about the hours spent online playing both PVE and PVP. The money they spent as subscribers every month brought about many an argument in some households. In others not so much. Let's see $15 per month, per person, per year, per the entire population of the game, plus the money spent in crown purchases ... You do the math.

But like the man who killed a goose that lay golden eggs to get to all the golden eggs all at once, a gaming company decided to fire or release the more expensive artists who created the game, and instead hire a bunch of new workers who began to neglect their players in favor of things that the spenders weren't sure about. Lag went unfixed in favor of new crown outfits and crates in the hopes that more money would flow in.

One by one, the subscribers left, tired of trying to fight through lag, skills that didn't work, exploits reintroduced, combat bugs ...

And with every new game that other companies released that didn't have any of those problems, the "goose" that lay the golden eggs slowly withered over time until dead.

Class Change Token: 21,000 Crowns

This is not a new idea, but I would like to suggest it again.

For the purpose of game immersion, content completion / achievements, trade-skill landmarks, and much more - I would really like to see the addition of a Crown Class Change Tokens.

I understand the revenue that comes when players create a new character, so I feel that 21,000 crowns would be a fair middle ground; it also matches the largest crown pack available too.

As an example: I understand that this game is ever evolving and what a Magicka Sorcerer was on release is not the same as now. Totally fine, I accept that. However, for the past year I have bounced back and forth between Stamina and Magicka (including race changes) in an attempt to find something I enjoyed. At the moment, Magicka Necromancers are by far my favorite. But I feel like I am no longer playing my Avatar; and that has hurt my enjoyment of the game tremendously. I have 10 total alts, which I use for raiding but during my down time I like to still explore and I am not able to do so the way I would like.

This is not about Flavor of the Month, it is about regaining a sense of identity that comes from playing an evolving MMO.

I do not believe coding would be a tremendous task, as they can use the same platform that we see on Vampires/Werewoofs: even when cured the skills remain leveled and unlocked behind the scenes. That being said, I would also be totally fine if a Class Change Token reset my new/old Class Specific Abilities to 1. All of the other Weapon, Guild, World, and PVP Skill Sets would remain the same.

I would like to hear from others who have a similar perspective, or anyone who has constructive criticism.

Block-casting is one of the core feature of this game, like weaving, animation cancelling, invicibility frame against single target when dodging and a few others i wont list but mi thoughts are that it is a very bad thing for the entire game, in both pve and pvp.

For sure, tanks may have very extra hard job if this feature was removed, but this could be solved by reducing bosses dmg or attack speed (making them only do heavy attacks for exemple) or whatever, they could be given some kind of "mass taunt" and their job could be oriented to something somehow tedious but also very rewarding...

things are self healings+permablock allows DDs in pve to survive to barely everything (like Lokkestiz breath in vSS HM) and in pvp it is way too efficient.

i'm glad that block is so very efficient and i love how the Shield Wall/Spell Wall/Shield Discipline work, but block-casting being available at all time looks like a curse to me.

what about you?

Would you support faction uniforms to reduce the lag?

Since the lag can't be fixed without a complete re-start (getting rid of the convoluted code in the process), the Devs probably need some ideas how to make Cyrodiil bearable.

As you probably know, individual appearances are a part of the lag problem - at least more so than the poor deer that once used to roam around there.

So - would you be willing to sacrifice it for the sake of a (better) playable game? Guild tabards will probably still be recognizable.

Is it severely desync’d or what? Multiple times yesterday I’d break free to have to break free again, (like consecutively, milliseconds from the first break) both times it used up my stam, and I’m talking back to back.

Rough Riders is now recruiting Daggerfall Covenant faction players that would like to join in epic, large scale battles with a focus on group builds and gameplay. We are always recruiting players that are ready to take on large enemy forces of Aldmeri Dominion and Ebonheart Pact by playing group builds and staying together as a team.

Our guild has specific guild builds that members can choose to play. Each class has a specific gear and skill set that combine with the other player builds to offer each team member buffs and synergies that make the group more powerful as a whole. We are continually updating our group builds so that we offer players meta builds that best work together with other guild members to maximize efficiency killing power in large PvP skirmishes. Each player character has a role to play in steamrolling our enemies and we enjoy doing it together.

We just released many more updated builds to reflect the meta for group gameplay for the latest patch release - there are many to choose from and all are awesome.

**Please note that stamina support/dps characters are required to have a scroll running build**

Friday raid nights primetime 9-12pm EST are reserved for guild build players with these specialized combat tactics and gear builds and we encourage everyone to make a guild build so that we can best work together. Other nights we often play with our sister guild, Army of the Covenant, or with just with our own guild. Any builds are welcome during the rest of the week, and our builds and experience work well on these other nights as well.

We sometimes have training for learning the guild builds, raffles, dueling competitions, gear farming, and more. Come see what makes us one of the best DC guilds out there and play with other like minded people as we have fun taking over the map and defeating our enemies. We would love to have more mature, non toxic, low drama, and helpful people on our team that are willing to learn and stay with the group. Discord is required to listen for our teams.

Hey Guys, as i beat SP HM multiple times now, i wanted to share a somewhat safe strategy for the fight that makes sure you get decent good progression. This is not a guarantee for you to beat it, it is just meant to give you an Idea of how you can beat it as safe as possible. It is still very punishing for mistakes and takes a lot of practice to finish. I both tanked and DD'ed the Hardmode. At all successful attempts we had one stamina and one magicka DD, so it is doable with both.


Alright, let's start with the positioning:

What's the reasoning behind this? There are three conal section i the arena, and you want to make sure to standright on the Borders between two of them AT ALL TIMES. This ensures that you can stand simply sidestep the one that becomes active.

1. Focus the adds down first! As long as they are alive, every mistake is a probable wipe. Once they're dead, you can recover at all times. And they make the tanks life really hard...
2. Assign one DD to have an eye on the statues and to call out which one it will be, they glow before they start the cone.
3. Have the healer run Kagrenacs Hope. It really makes a difference.
4. If you miss one synergy during the ice phase, have the healer res IMMEDIATELY afterwards. This is the only time where you can res somewhat safely.
5. Tank takes the beam because he doesnt have any task during the ice phase and has enough time to look for the beam.
6. Healer takes the shield because you need the healer to have the most reliable synergy that is always there.
7. Ice phases come all 20%, take it easy, make sure everyones alive before that starts.
8. Make sure to move the lemeneide a bit, when you use synergies right in between two cones, there's a bug that will kill you despite having a synergy. So move her a bit and make sure to take all other synergies as far from the borders as possible.

Now another advanatge of this strategy is that the tank can always stand between all other three people easily when they get the Zaan Beam mechanic on them (indicated by the orange arrows below):

When the tank gets the beam, one DD (can also be stamina DD) stand in between and take one hit, two at max. Move out again, tanks survive multiple hits if they get healed!

On top of that, you should assign possible spawns of ice mages to each DD to scan and announce where they are. In the beginning we wiped a lot because we forgot an ice mage close to the
statues. Have each DD start at the outside statues and meet in the middle and have them scan these zones indicated in yellow:

Now go in there and melt.

Veteran Imperial City Prison Lord Warden - bugged

The final boss fight against the Lord Warden is bugged where the "Brace for Impact" synergy whilst falling doesn't activate. It seemed to work once or twice for a couple of the group, then stopped working for everyone causing wipes and a failure to complete the dungeon.

EU performance since patch is causing major issues

Ever since the performance patch a few weeks ago, our PvE raiding guild has been experiencing too many issues during raids.

We are still getting disconnects, players getting kicked out to log in screen and major ping issues.

We are resetting instances in trails so many times, it is becoming a reset trail night instead of a raid night. When the majority of the players in the instance has decent ping (around 60-100 ping) one or both of our tanks experience skills not working. They can weapon swap, but their skills do not proc.

I have been also experiencing the same issues with some characters, no matter how many times i hit the skill (such as a heal or a shield) it does not proc, yet blocking and dodging works despite being with as low as 50 ping when fighting a world boss, for example.

It is clearly some issue with the EU server, and this has been going on for a while, just the performance patch, for some reason, has enhanced these issues.

Cyrodiil is a joke as always, character is just standing there refusing to cast any abilities, even when all alone against one other enemy player and 70 ping. Could not weapon swap, heal, shield etc and just gives away free AP to the enemy player.

Zenimax, are you aware of these issues? or am i the first one to openly bring this to you? (i seriously doubt it).

Transmute crystals were a bit low this Anniversary

I opened 100+ boxes a day and averaged 22 transmute crystals per day. It was much higher for me last year. How did everyone else do?

I tried gifting it to friends and it says they already own it despite them not actually having anything in it except Imperial City which is free. I was able to get it for myself but when I try to get it for friends it says they have it even if they don't.

Long time RPGer - ESO is amazing

I come from a long line of RPGs. Starting with table top AD&D, the original Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior on the old NES, from there moving into Circle MUDs. I had a blast playing all of those games throughout the years. I must say, ESO is amazing. The graphics, the story, the game play. Even the "fetch" quests (usually) have something more than "Get me 10 bear pelts". Coming from miniatures on a table top and text based MMOs, this game is great. The details are fantastic. I haven't read all of the books in the game but the level of detail put into writing that many stories is fantastic. The way many people play this game the books could just read "Two handed plus one" but they don't. They have a story in each and every one of them. On top of that there are the regular books with horror stories, funny stories, "academic" stories. Even the letters I receive from hirelings have a story to them. Whoever is doing all of that writing, good job.


Tank Queue Requirement

This has probably been brought up before, but can you add a requirement where in order to queue for a dungeon and not go with a premade group the player needs to have a taunt equipped on their bar?

Pretty annoying that I queue as a healer and end up both healing and tanking nearly every dungeon. Or give me a “tank is not a tank” dungeon drop out pass.

Question to the pro Magcro players

Hi there,

I am currently working on improving my magcro DPS. My best parse so far is 61k DPS on the Iron Atronach dummy. Usually I end up between 54 and 58k DPS.

By adding bash on a few skills, I was able to increase my LA from 0.4 per sec, to 0.6 per sec. There are still some things that are not clear to me:

Do I need to animation cancel every skill with a bash? Or only some skills? If so, which one? I do not think I can keep up with stamina to bash after every skill. How many CP points do I have to add to the bash cost reduction?

I did find a static rotation on youtube, and I will try to write down the things I do - please correct me if I do something wrong.

LA- BB - WS (weapon swap) - LA - Blockade - Bash - LA - Boneyard - WS

LA - BB - WS - LA - Trap - Bash - LA - Mage - WS

LA - BB - LA - Degeneration - Bash - LA - Skull - WS

LA - BB + Syphon - Bash - LA - Skull - LA - Skull - WS

Rinse and repeat. I will replace one skull with ultimate when ready (and WS since it is on the backbar).

Looking forward to your advice.

Floating tree seen over Cropsford

I would like to bring to your attention this tree that we have recently observed floating in the sky over Cropsford. I want to make sure that the ZOS team is aware of it in case it was placed here by mistake so that it can be fixed. If, on the other hand, it was put here intentionally by a developer as a homage to the well known genus of trees that populate some parts of the sky over Skyrim then please disregard. Thank you!

How do I log in to my main character?

I can't log in for the main character. I've already written to support .Pending data load error (360863 - c00000000007c10). This happens only on one character, on the rest everything goes well and works. I have already checked for file integrity, cache integrity, reinstalled the game, deleted mods, completely deleted the game and installed it, made graphics on low, waited more than 20 minutes, ran as administrator but nothing helps, I still can't log. I have been waiting long enough, I have paid for eso plus and I am very sorry that it may end. My friends and my group on raids ask where I disappeared, they really need me, but I can not do anything, because all the money and things I have left on the main character on which I can not go. My ticket: 200411-001536. I need help!
