Cannot Continue With Main Quest - No Support Conclusion ?

Regarding Customer Service Ticket: # 200502-001689

On 2 May 2020, I used the "Ask For Help" feature of TESO Feedback concerning the fact that I have not been able to continue the Main Quest for one of my characters. My request, the Support reply, and my response to it are posted below. Support has not responded thus far to my reply to their request for more information.

Request For Help
After finishing the Main Quest "Castle of the Worm" I have not been contacted by The Prophet or by any other NPC to continue with the next Main Quest, which should be "The Tharn Speaks". I looked for Abnur Tharn in the Daggerfall Mages Guild. However, he is not as described by Online: The Tharn Speaks and offers only the Elsweyr Prologue quest. There is no Main Quest currently in the Journal, so I cannot ask for assistance for it specifically. How can I continue the Main Quest without a quest giver??

Greetings,
Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team!
In order to investigate this matter further we will need you to provide the following information:
  • What is the name of the quest you are experiencing issues with?
  • What quest objective are you experiencing this issue with?
  • What is the issue that you are experiencing with this quest?
Once you have responded with this information we can attempt to assist you further.
Thank you for your continued interest and support!
Kind Regards,
The Elder Scrolls Online Team

My reply to the response:
Note: my character, Ace Gokh, is a male Orc who began TESO in a cell in Coldharbour, from which The Prophet (an NPC) freed him. He is associated with the Daggerfall Covenant Alliance. Currently, The Prophet is in The Harborage in Glenumbra. Your questions sent in reply to my request for help are in bold font in this response:

What is the name of the quest you are experiencing issues with?
The name of the next quest in the Main Quest series is "The Tharn Speaks". However, currently, it is not recorded in my character's Quest Journal.

What quest objective are you experiencing this issue with?
My character (Ace Gokh) has not received the initiating instruction to find Abnur Tharn -- from whatever source it is given. That is why it is not recorded in his Quest Journal, of course.

What is the issue that you are experiencing with this quest?
Abnur Tharn is not waiting for Ace Gokh in the Mages Guild Hall in Daggerfall (Glenumbra). There would be a large white downward-pointing arrowhead above the NPC if he were there.

To quote the wiki created by Enodoc, a TESO Community Ambassador, Online: The Tharn Speaks :
"Upon completion of the last quest, you should get a quest telling you to go to the Mages Guild in your alliance's first major city (Vulkhel Guard, Daggerfall or Davon's Watch). Inside the guildhall, the quest will update; now you need to talk to Abnur Tharn. Tharn is dressed like a mage in blue and white robes. ...."

In sum, short, and fine: a character cannot begin a quest unless and until the quest is received (and accepted) from a "quest-giver", which is usually an NPC. (Although a quest can be given by an object such as a corpse, a document, a weapon, jewelry, etc., which the character finds and "examines".)

Thank-you for your time and effort in providing a resolution of this strange situation. In the course of playing four other characters during the past five-plus years, this is the first time that I have found my character unable to continue the Main Quest story-line because the character did not, and could not, obtain the next quest in the series.
This outcome seems to be produced by a flaw in the software which is revealed only under specific circumstances that I cannot identify.
  • Curiously, the add-on Destinations has a map pin pointing to the location just outside Daggerfall -- at the start of the path which leads to/from The Harborage -- where the quest-giver for the "The Tharn Speaks" should be encountered by my character. The pin is annotated with the quest name. However, as my character approaches, moves through, or stops at, that location, nothing happens.
  • When my character returns to The Harborage, The Prophet tells him the same thing that he said there after the end of "Castle of The Worm". Lyris Titanborn and Abnur Tharn are also present, and tell my character the same things that they said after "The Castle of the Worm".
  • The quest does not "update" as described by the wiki quoted above when my character enters the Mages Guild Hall in Daggerfall -- apparently because the quest is not recorded in his Quest Journal.
It does not seem likely to me that Support will respond any further, whether they have advised or will advise the developers of the problem.

What can I do in this situation?? Too much time, effort, and resources have been spent developing the character to simply delete the character and "start over"!

My "Moons' Champion" achievement looks like it bugged. "Moons' Champion" achievement says I have completed "Difficult Mode," "Fang Focused," and "Void Avoided," but not "Conqueror" or "Two-Moons Dance." However, individual achievements for "Conqueror" and "Two-Moons Dance" state they were completed 3/5/2018. This is on my achievement toon, so I would really appreciate if you could fix it. Thank you!

Undaunted Mettle vs 7 Piece Bonus of wearing all the same weight of gear

I am curious how others build out their damage dealers, healers and tanks when considering the benefits of going with 5-1-1 for armor pieces to get the advantage from the Undaunted Mettle or do you go with the full 7 piece of the same weight to gain the most benefits for your character.

I first want to talk about Stamina damage dealers. The benefits of going 7 piece medium is you gain additional stamina recovery, increase critical chance, and a reduction cost to your stamina abilities. By forgoing 5-1-1 you lose 4% stamina, health and magika and the later part does not matter. Does the added increase to crit chance and stamina regen and low stamina cost of abilities outweigh the extra stamina and health?

Right now I'm running 5-1-1 because I am a Wood Elf that has over 50% crit. If I ran another race and had a crit rating below 50% and didn't have stamina regen I definitely would be running 7 pieces of medium. I can see the benefits of running either 5-1-1 or all 7 depending upon how a character is built. I have no issues with Stamina resources on my stamina character but if I did I would go full 7 pieces.

Next up is Magika DD and healers. The benefit for going 7 light pieces are increase spell resistance, increase in magika recovery and reduction in magika ability cost and reduction in snares. The benefit of going 5-1-1 is increase in resistance and 4% more health, stamina and magika. The biggest issue with not going 5-1-1 pieces for a magika DD/healer is the reduction in resistance that the heavy and medium pieces provided these builds. .

My Breton healer I have no issues with magika resources like my Stamina DD, so I run 5-1-1 as that character gets extra health and resistance. My High Elf Sorc I am also running 5-1-1, but often find my character empty on magika and either waiting for a synergy or my potion to come off cool down to gain some magika. I am considering trying the 7 pieces of light to see if that helps or swapping my mundus to magika recovery right now I'm using shadow mundus.

The last are tanks. The benefit tanks get when running all heavy pieces is higher resistance and health recovery. By going 5-1-1 they loose some resistance but gain stamina and magika recovery along with reduction cost in their abilities. For tanks getting to the hard cap of resistance ensures that they can take the hits and survive but with lower resistance a tank becomes a liability in groups and could make what should be an easy run a hard run.

Playing a tank through all content I noticed that resource management is critical for tanks and having a reduction in ability cost and a increase in recovery can be a live saver for a tank for resources. Looking at resistance I swapped some traits on my gear to ensure that I can achieve the hard cap to resistance but that has resulted in my tank having an increase cost to their blocking, which isn't that much more resource but I do notice it a bit during trials.

As my first sentence stated, I am curious how others are building their characters. Are you taking full advantage of Undaunted Mettle or going with the additional benefit that going full 7 pieces of the same armor weight provides?

We'll effectively be in the same place as we are now because people won't want to go past stage 1 with the cost increases and actively avoid feeding. Stage 1 will be like stage 4 is now, with everything being more expensive.

I wanted to be able to feed to get stronger, now I have to avoid feeding because I'll get severely penalized for it. There's no upside.

Does anyone actually use the stam morph of elemental weapon?

$

Its not the hardest hitting and maybe a weebit clunky, but with the heal attached it seems to me like it could find a place in some builds.

However not once have I seen this morph used.

So does anybody use it? If you do, what kind of strategy do you use, how do you build around it?

Or is this just a completely pointless morph that sees no use and is totally unviable?

Implementing Addons

Hello ZoS, I am a strong believer that I am not alone in this

I am hopping that you all are adding some of the addons to the game come Greymoor.
It will not only help make the game run better for so many but for me as well

I must admit that I have 125 addons running on my end. So if you like we can list a group that you can addin for us!
Anyone reading this please list which you would like to see in one of the upcoming updates.

For me! I will like to see a mini map & chat window customization. Than there are always some housing ones that is needed like Essential Housing Tools

So please hear us out on it this time! We are asking nicely

PVP Magplar - How do you personally hit 25K DPS on a heavily armored target in overland CP-Cyrodiil?

$

Hail, friends. Nice to meet a fine sod such as yourself.

How do you hit 25k DPS on targets in overland CP-Cyrodiil? That is, while staying tanky, having good MR, and enough healing to back you up, along with usual good mechanics for OCPC.

I'm currently 23K. 4000 spell power, buffed. Over 23 seconds (the length of Elemental drain).
Combo: Purifying Light ---> Dark Flare ---> Toppling Charge ---> *Crescent Sweeps (ULT) ---> 2 X Jabs. Repeat twice, without Sweeps.
(*Weaving LA's always, if they connect.)

If everything lands, its usually about 23k.

Now, I tried running Minor Berserk on the back bar with a resto staff and it does get over 25k, but I would rather run S&B or an Ice staff back there, unless I'm in a low-man healing and dpsing.

I keep up my defense at 20-25k, have 25k Health, and run Spell Power pots. 1600 MR. 37-41K Mag, 16K Stam.

Have thought about running a GSword and Camo Hunter. Just not sure. Opinions?

I'd really like to change up my potions sometimes, but that requires running other skills for Major Sorcery & Major Prophecy.

I use Living Dark, BoL, a regen, Channeled Focus, and Ext Ritual on the BB. Usually put +8% healing on an Ice Staff.

I literally cannot go toe-to-toe with most DKs, Stam Sorcs, or heavily armored targets using Onslaugh-2hander-high uptime regen builds.

Just curious what everyone else is doing on their temps.

Do some other jobs hit 30K + deeps on their targets? Is the Magplar simply the low end of the totem pole on deeps when it compares to other classes?

Sure I can get kills, but on good players, I'm definitely unable to get off my back bar and having to LoS until I can get into a 2 v 1 situation.

Just wish Templar was able to deeps out those heavily armored, high uptime regen'in DKs and not run out of resources too soon and having to line of sight.

Current sets: Bloodspawn, New Moon Acolyte, War Maidens. Sometimes switch out to: BS, NMA + Bright Throat's, or Cyro's Light.

I'm slowly resigning myself to the fact that solo-CP Cyro for Magplar is not worth it and I simply need to stay with a small 4-6man and just deal with that fact lol. Sure would be nice if I could get more kills on good players. I see many other jobs soloing really well without a team. I'm a decent player going on 3 years total PVP time but I have yet to have use Magplar in a DOMINATING way.

Hey ESO Housing Community! As promised, it's now time for Community Cobble Showcase #2:

The theme of this showcase is "lighting." Any type of lighting will do, whether its a table lamp, pendant light, lantern, chandelier, sconce, candelabra, or an un-nameable feature (a major purpose of which is to provide light)... you get the picture! I'll be hitting other themes in future showcase threads, but if you have any suggestions that you would like to see sooner rather than later, please feel free to PM me.

I also want to thank everyone who shared their cobbles in the first community cobble thread. I can't state enough how inspiring it was to see this community's ridiculously fantabulous creativity in the form of cobbled fireplaces. The support this community provided for everyone's ideas and visions was truly uplifting. As I said in the first showcase post, ESO's housing community is amazing, creative, and so incredibly supportive of each other, and I hope that these threads will serve as a centralized, easily searchable method of showcasing and iterating on various cobbled designs.

So please post pictures of your amazing, humble, or just plain crazy cobbled lighting sources! I can't wait to see what you have created <3

Original Post, House-Keeping Stuffs:
(1) If you want to post a picture of someone else's cobbled design, please credit the builder in your post.
(2) No cobble is too "simple" or too "obvious" to be included. Sometimes the most brilliant, unique, and creative ideas come in the simplest package!
(3) Please continue to be the kind, creative, and supportive community you already are!

Step-by-step instructions regarding an easy way to post pictures (note there are tons of other methods if you prefer another way of doing it)
(1) Take a screenshot in game.
(2) Make a copy of the screenshot. If you used your computers basic "print screen" function to take the screenshot, you have already copied the screenshot and can proceed to step 3. If you used an in-game command to take the screenshot, use your file explorer to navigate to the following location to open and copy the picture: This PC -> Documents -> Elder Scrolls Online -> Live -> Screenshots.
(3) Post the screenshot into any Discord Channel by using the command "control+v" in the channel's message box. I typically use a personal Discord channel, which is free to create, but if you would prefer a housing-friendly discord to post into, feel free to send me a PM and I will shoot you an invite to my housing guild's discord channel (its open to anyone).
(4) In Discord, click on the picture you just posted; an expanded view of the image will open.
(5) Click "Open Original", which appears underneath and to the left of the expanded image you opened in step 4. This will open the image in your default internet browser.
(6) Select the entire URL of the webpage that opened in step 5. Copy the URL.
(7) In the ESO forum thread, "leave a reply" box, click the drop down arrow to the right of the tool that looks like a mountain and a sun in a portrait frame, labelled "attach image". Click on the "image URL" text box that opens, and paste the URL you copied in step 6.

Switch the Purifying Bloody Mara and Corrupting Bloody Mara

$
0
0
ZOS should really switch the effects on these two drinks. At stage 4 you have no health regeneration so the health effect on the Corrupting Bloody Mara is counter productive. Only way to get that effect to even apply is to have the vampiric fountain, and it begins to look more and more like a pay to win item when I begin thinking about it like this.

The feeding reversal is what's making this a problem and switching the effects on the two drinks would be a way to solve the issue.

I am unsatisfied and I’m going to quit if I’m not helped

My conclusion: Vampire doesn't have a consistent play style

$
0
0
That is, it needs equipment change from PVP to PVE and vice versa.

There are two active skills to use: Drain and Mist Form. And the ultimate.

The Drain can accompany classes that don't have good healing and can therefore remain in Stage 1 and not play as vampires per se. And the ultimate is... well, it doesn't knock my socks off.

That means the Mist Form is what makes you a vampire. I am not sure if players can interrupt it in PvP, but for sure mobs can do it in PvE. And this trashes the entire Vampire idea.

You can't go in a dungeon, relying on Mist Form, and have it interrupted every few seconds. Because you need to lower your magicka costs to maintain it, and in doing so, you give up block cost reduction. So it's either Mist Form or Blocking. If you choose Mist Form, it won't work in boss fights. That means no Mist Form, and no Blocking. And of course, no health regen either.

I think that lowering the magicka cost of the Mist Form takes a toll big enough. I shouldn't be keeping separate sets of jewels. Mist Form should simply be Blocking 2.0 as long as you manage to hold it. But if you get in a dungeon as vampire, you're screwed: will be no sustain, no blocking, no Mist Form. This is just a no go.

So the fix is actually simple. While Mist Form has to keep its cost to be difficult to maintain, thus appealing to a limited number of build styles, it also has to be functional, that is, uninterruptible.

LATER EDIT: I just forgot there are more than two skills. Not gonna kill myself with the Frenzy thing, and I need to use stamina for damage if I keep magicka for Blood Mist, I don't really see much use in the other skills.

ZOS, any chance for a global Action House?

$
0
0
The trading system as it is now is really not very casual friendly. Any chance to implement the classical global action house? Like 10 slots for normal players, 30+ slots for eso+.
No trading guilds, no requirements, no endles checking for proper prices and available stuff using addons... etc. I want to buy and sell stuff without wasting too much time on it.
Just the removal of merchant addons improves the performance by a lot. And you simply cannot properly trade without them.
