Addressing Blazing Shield changes

"Templar

Blazing Shield (Sun Shield morph): Reduced the amount of damage done by this morph to 33/36/39/42% of the damage absorbed by the shield, down from 50/51/52/53%.
Developer Comments:
Spoilerhide
Blazing Shield builds have proven to be extremely effective due to being able to stack Health to improve both their survivability and damage done. We’ve reduced the effectiveness of this ability so that there is more of an opportunity cost to having so much Health.
"

This is seriously the biggest problem they see in the game? It is already the hardest style to play to get any kills or AP on. The only anti-zerg skill in the game that can only kill anybody if there is no healers around. Having a lot of health does not mean you are a tank, there are a lot of unkillable tanks running around with less health, but there is no outrage there because just about everyone benefits from that, but the 1% of people who benefit from Blazing Shield builds are being made even harder to play because the 99% of zerglings on the forums complain about it.

Just about every decent players understanding of blazing shield is that it is an anti-zerg skill and people that are attacking them in large numbers should die in theory. In reality the more people on us the less damage we do because Breath of Life and Healing springs is ridiculously good even with the patch it will still be good.

If zos at least gave people attacking a blazing shield major defile or something I would be happy with that because we do zero damage with the presence of a mindless zerg healer

I also wish ZOS treated this forum like Blizzard forums, as in ignoring people who are whining and listening to those who actually have realistic changes or viewpoints of the game, people like me or Fengrush or Sypher are shunned by Zos for having their viewpoints while people crying here are winning, because if Blizzard did that to Starcraft or World of Warcraft the game would be broken because irrational people come up with irrational changes.

Role of Nightblade

$

Templar is designed to be the best healer, DK the best tank, and Sorcerer the best DPS, these I understand. (Warden I don't know, I assume best healer as well?)

But which dungeon role is Nightblade supposed to excel in? (Dark Sacrament isn't a dungeon, right?)

I'm new to PVE and no min-maxer, so I won't change my role or class just because something is considered better. But I do wonder if there is an oversight somewhere, or if my understanding is wrong and there is something Nightblade does best.

I can imagine in a 5-person group, Nightblade can be designed to be an offensive support. CC and Debuffs and the sort, while Sorcerer is the cannon class. But we have 4-person dungeons only.

Have devs talked about this? And is there something I'm missing?

Old and new Morrowind landmass map comparison with pictures

$

Once the Morrowind expansion came out of closed beta I had a brainstorm to make some kind of a landmass map comparison of Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind and ESO Morrowind because I wanted to see how similar to the original Morrowind the terrain was and to be honest it is pretty much it. For the comparison I've used a high quality ESO Morrowind map datamined and put together by @Arko_Nam_La and a high resolution world map of ES III Morrowind.

So the red one is the old Morrowind map and the blue one is the ESO Morrowind map.

For the best result either download them or open the pictures in seperate tabs and switch them up quickly, you will notice the differences.
Comparison1.pngComparison2.pngComparison3.png
A few more notes:
I had to make a sharp contrast or the maps would blend together and red vs blue worked good enough to expose the differences.
I've used Sheogorad isles (the most northern isles) for the size match because they are almost copy/pasted from old Morrowind.
This is not a scale comparison, I don't really know how much larger/smaller the new map is or if they are even the same exact size. This is a landmass comparison and I wanted to see if islands and landmarks are similarly placed.

Soooo... [Morrowind] Magblades... and how they work now in BG

Major streamers and other well known magbaldes in our community resonate the feeling that currently the Magblade is the worst pvp class in this update. As in they have been gutted to oblivion. Did any one of you managed to put something together that performs on par with other classes in battlegrounds/open workd?

And if you know of any videos . please let me know I would like to see.

Let us, Magblades, united and explorer all options possible to make this playable. I spent almost all my playtime theory crafting potential builds for my magblade. And end up torn between stamina management and damage ....

lastly, I tried light armor in BGs.... I cannot make it work with only 1 shield.

LF: New Ideas for Crown Store "Quest Starters"

$

We've all seen the "Quest Starters" section of the Crown Store below. It currently has the beginning house quest where you help the broker retrieve his stolen property deed, but that is all we have.
Crown%20Store%20Quest%20Starters_zpsvoghz8pf.png

As I understand, when holiday events are going on, the beginnings of these quests are found here too, right? So I'm guessing that this section of the store is currently being reserved for holiday events and this housing quest.

Here is my question: what if there were new quests here that we could pay for, similarly to DLC? This raises several other questions:
  • How many crowns would you be willing to pay for a new quest?
  • What kind of rewards would the quests have to give you upon completion, for your payment to be worth it?
  • How do we prevent these quests from being a form of pay-to-win?
  • Would making new quests for already existing zones be worth the developers' time?

Ideas from other people!
  1. "Give quests to open up the costumes, mounts, emotes, etc. with quests maybe making the rewards somewhat random within a certain category" ( @Tenn60 ).
  2. " 'Quest Packs' would simply add more story material to the game [...]. They could encompass sequels to quests already taken, or be completely new stories" ( @ProfesseurFreder ).

I think it would be cool to pay for new quests once I've completed all the quests in the base game. Personally, I would enjoy the quests if they were highly focused on the story and character development of some of my favorite NPCs, like High King Emeric. I could also see people paying for new quests if they have certain rewards advertised in the Crown Store, like "beat this quest and get this cool new [title / costume / emote]!" I would like that, and I would also be willing to pay for a new quest that was significantly more difficult than normal quests.

I do think that caution should be taken if new quests are added to the "Quest Starters" section. I believe ZOS is the best in the MMO business with the high quality of all their quests, with full voice-acting, and specifically in the Crown Store for avoiding any kind of "pay-to-win" options. I could see some weaker companies selling a Quest Starter that has a huge experience bonus at the end of it or some high-tier weapon, which would be a form of pay-to-win. It would not be an instant bonus, but having someone pay for a simple quest that makes them more powerful than everyone else that did not buy the quest would be unfair and should be avoided.

78k Tank.. It does exist.. but how?!!

$

Ok, so, this is sort of a spin-off from another OP's recent thread on DK tank, which another posted within that the current META, particularly for vMoL, for a tank is 78-80k hp. I didn't really call bull-shite, but couldn't really believe that such a high hp tank can exist. I do have a tank which was around 60k when that thread was posted, then seeing the reply of how a 78-80k hp tank have been going at it in vMoL (as what were said), I was intrigued to see what are aiding and pushing a tank to that higher health level. So, redoing and tweaking my tank a bit, I am now about to push it to 66k, where it is currently at. Now, this is with 5x Plaque Doctor and 5x Green Pact with two monster pieces that boost 1800 or so max health.; 3 armor (including the Plaque shield) are gold and the rest are still purple. I'm not ready to drop 40 Temps to gold the rest yet. All are reinforced, except for the two monster pieces which are infused. All are gold health enchants for the armors and gold health recovery for the jewelries, and the Lord mundus.

Now, this is my "show" tank, because all other attributes are low and, to me, practically crap. I haven't tank any trial yet with this, but have a lot on world bosses and a few dungeons. Even though this tank is virtually indestructible, I still find a challenge to maintain the blocking, because the stamina pool is so low; particularly, when the dps toons are putting out mediocre damages and I would have to tank a bit longer. Essentially, the longer you have to block, the more stamina are being used up, and since most of recovery are in health recovery, it is a bit daunting waiting for the stam to regen. When you aggro with the Puncture or Pierce Armor, it uses stam. So, with blocking and this aggro, stam are being depleted fast. I don't really use majicka-based aggro. Hell, my majicka pool is even lower. I have to reserve that for Igneous and/or Hardened Armor. Yes, you can pop a portion here and there and use the ultimate to regain some stam and majicka back. Even when my stam are depleted from blocking and I am knocked down by the boss's attacks or getting hit by the aoe, my hp is barely being scratched. So, I'm not worried about my health bar. I can also throw up the Igneous Shield and then wait out for the stam to regen to resume blocking.

So, thinking I have achieved what a tank can truly achieved in health points. Christ, I have my duel option set at auto-declined, because when I roll around with this tank, I get a lot of folks pinging me for either a duel or want to group. Ha ha. Then, all of a sudden (yesterday evening of gameplay), I couldn't believe my eyes. I saw a glimpse of what appeared to be 78k health bar. I thought it was an NPC. I then confirmed it was another tank toon. So, I've seen it with my own eyes; a 78-80k hp tank do exist.. but, how?!! I have seemingly pushed the limit of all health add-ons, armor combos, enchants and whatnot to get it to 66k. If I gold out the remaining 5 pieces, I'll probably hit 68k hp. Even if I go all out infused, I'll probably hit 69 or possibly 70k.. but damn, that tank is 12k more hp than mine. How the hell do you get "12k" more hp?!! It is inconceivably mind-boggling right now. I haven't found any clip on youtube yet on it, or is there any mentioned about it yet via article, thread or posting on the build.

After crafting the Dwarven Altar, Stairs I traded a guild mate, who placed the item for me to take screenshots. When he traded me back it went missing from both our inventories, and banks, and houses. I issued a ticket, and let crafters beware, this item doesn't like to stick around.

Against my better judgment, I will give this one last go. I believe that, for the most part, the discussions have been fun and enjoyable. I feel that I've gotten to know some people on other factions a bit, and it is cool being killed by someone you recognize! :) Anyway, let's stick to talks of builds, funny stories (like the time I got jumped by 8 AD as I rode across the bridge and they bashed me to death as I fell out of my chair laughing), map strategy, which in game snacks you prefer, and of course... Ice trebs.

Cheating and Exploits

$

Hello everyone, we’ve started a fresh thread on the matter of cheating and exploits. This has been a big issue, and maintaining an open discussion on the matter is important to us. However, it is also important that this discussion stay on topic, and within the forum rules. In particular:
  • We do not allow naming and shaming. Accusations of misconduct directed at anyone, even if not explicitly named, are not acceptable. If you feel someone is cheating, any information needs to be sent to us privately. Rules violations can be sent in-game or by submitting a ticket on our help site, and this is covered in more detail below. When reporting someone, please detail who you are reporting and why, the more information you can provide the easier it is for us to investigate. We welcome images and videos. With the latter, if it’s very long a timestamp may be helpful.
  • We do not allow disciplinary actions to be discussed for specific members, whether named or not. General discussion of ESO policy is acceptable, but not commentary on what may have happened with specific people. Staff will not discuss the moderation status of an account publicly, or state whether an account has or has not been actioned. Allowing others to speculate on this can lead to a host of problems, and we are unable to clarify.
  • Flaming or bashing is not allowed. This goes for abusive and disruptive comments and behavior that are directed at ZeniMax Online employees and ESO community members, alike.
  • Demands or threats, specifically directed at the ESO team or suspected exploiters.
  • It is important to keep comments respectful, and criticism constructive. We discuss this in greater depth here. There is a lot of value in having an open thread for discussing these problems, but it needs to remain civil and constructive.

We will remove any posts breaking the forum rules. In the last thread we tried to keep moderation to a minimum, but this just allowed the problems to escalate until we couldn’t ignore them. When removing posts we will generally remove any replies as well, since they often don’t make sense on their own, or continue off track discussion. If you feel someone is breaking the rules, we ask that you report the post and not respond to it.

We had closed the previous thread because of the number of problems, and because we thought a break until we had new information would be helpful. We’ve received a lot of feedback that people would rather have an open discussion now, so are putting this up.

As mentioned earlier, and explained in detail in the quoted post below, if you feel that someone is cheating or exploiting please send this information to us. Do not post details on how to preform an exploit, or who may be preforming them, on the forums.
Hey everyone,

If you believe someone is cheating, hacking, exploiting, botting, or anything else that violates our EULA and Terms of Service, we want to know but we need you to report them using the appropriate channels. We fully investigate all reports of TOS violations. (See this Support article on how to report another player for inappropriate behavior.)

You can also submit a Support ticket via our website if you need to include screenshots and/or video footage of the player you are reporting. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the Support page and log in
  2. Choose “In-Game Support”
  3. Select the “Report a Player” subcategory
  4. Fill out the fields with as much detail as possible – if you know reproduction steps for what the player you’re reporting is doing, even better.
  5. Attach any related files (screenshots, videos, etc.)
  6. Hit the “Submit” button
Please note that we cannot discuss another player’s account status and details thereof with you, as doing so would be a violation of our Privacy Policy. This includes any disciplinary action we have taken on another player. In rare cases, we may decide to give a player who has been permanently banned a final chance after investigating a situation and speaking with them. If you believe a player with whom we have granted a final chance is violating our EULA and Terms of Service, please report them via one of the two methods described above.

Lastly, we are still going to wipe the Veteran Maelstrom Arena Leaderboards on the PC/Mac megaservers within the next few weeks.

Vet Maw of Lorkhaj - Broken on Xbox One AGAIN!!!!!

Maw on Xbox One is broken again. Same exact problem as last time Maw was broken on xbox for 3 months. Please do not allow this problem to persist. It is very frustrating. Please fix this.

Most of our group DC'd on the add pull right before the first bosses door. Last time, Healing Springs and Extended Ritual were the things that caused major DC's...

We persisted through the first DC, and attempted the first boss. Well, first boss gave us a mechanic we saw a few months ago.... 4 Disconnects.
Second attempt: 12 DC's through the whole thing, no springs or rituals were used, somehow beat it...

This update is great, but roll it back if you're going to break Maw. The one trial all the top guilds compete and try to progress in is broken again, and last time it was just Xbox. This time, it's likely just xbox too. Please, please, please, fix this, and don't take 3 freaking months like last time. Console players matter. Xbox players matter.

We will try going through the whole trial and I will update this post as we go. But PLEASE FIX THIS

THE PROCALYPSE

It's pretty clear procs are overperforming in BG's.
Viper is on nearly every stam build in under a week with 0 skillful counterplay available.

Before we jump into it, I'll beat you to whatever you're about to say - yes, I am running two proc sets on my stamblade right now.
Yes I am doing this on stream.

"Why, you hypocrite?"

Why? Because this is best in slot for stamblade bar none. Because to remain competitive, you wear competitive gear. You want to say it's unoriginal or cheesy or whatever else, I agree. It is. I hate when it happens to me, and I hate doing it to other people. It makes for lame, senseless pvp. But if people are going to burst me with proc sets, have free damage and incredible sustain, I will be at a distinct disadvantage to not do the same. If I choose to take the hundings high road, I will take longer to kill people and waste more resources. And because of this, I will have an overall lower chance of success. So it's not that I like it, it's not that I support it. It's just that procs are undeniably effective. As a player who wants to compete, I cannot be expected to knowingly put myself at a disadvantage just because of some intangible video game morality. The set is in the game so it's fair to use. The question of why, whether it should be, and how to deal with it is another story entirely.

This is the dilemma in everyone's mind. To win with procs or remain honorable and lose.
Why am I as a player having to choose between being sportsmanlike and being competitive? Why are these two methods mutually exclusive?

How many years has this community been forced to self regulate?
Instead of relying on ZOS to fix broken, imbalanced mechanics and sets, we've become so accustomed to holding ourselves back from things that are "meta" or "cheese" - LIKE proc sets, LIKE heavy armor, LIKE whatever class is best at the time. The problem with a community self regulating is that only half the community is willing to do this. And as time goes on, more people get frustrated - more people jump to the dark side. Eventually, the entire experience is completely diluted and theorycrafting anything outside this meta is worthless. Build homogenization. Boring PVP with lack of counterplay.

We should not have to self regulate this time.
It's time we look to ZOS to fix what is clearly broken and overperforming instead of trying to force ourselves away from sets that are imbalanced, and yet somehow optimal.

This proc meta is only in its baby stages and viper is already on nearly every death recap of every person I talk to.
It's time ZOS gets in front of this impending meta and fix it before it breaks the integrity of BGs, and ruins their promising growth.

Point blank, it is far too easy to stack damage through proc sets. When you have proc sets, you have enough damage that it doesn't matter what your max stats are. Stats can be crap like my stam nb's (below) and you can still dish out top damage. What's worse, is that it deeply affects sustain as well. Because you don't have to actively choose sets that give you sustain, just change some enchants or mundus around and you are fully optimal. Proc sets open you up to much easier sustain in addition to the easier damage. IE: Why spend 6k stam to do 2-3 different skills when I can use half the stam to do the same damage with just one skill? Proc sets are essentially FREE DAMAGE and thus FREE SUSTAIN. It requires 0 effort, it requires 0 skill, it requires 0 conscious decisions to be made other than to simply equip it. Like playing on autopilot, if you will.

Selene's on my stam nb is hitting for an average of 5-7k and I have 27k max stam and 2300-2500 weapon damage. That is broken. That should never hit that hard with those stats, but it does. Because people are forced into medium and light with new sustain changes, they can barely even mitigate the damage and certainly can't have adequate counterplay to it. They have barely any resistance as it is with sharpened + the major fracture of surprise attack, not to mention the multitude of damage modifiers NB has.

But this isn't about NB. It's about the sets. Because they work too well on DK, Templar, Sorc, and Warden as well. They are just particularly lethal on NB's because the class is designed for damage.

The point of the matter is: procs are ruining any semblance of balance in BGs. Procs are ruining our chance at counterplay. Procs are ruining our fun with theorycrafting because they are so far superior that it is pointless to try to out-optimize them. And it will only get worse the further into this we get. Right now the information of what is best in slot is trickling down to others, people are telling their friends, people are seeing it on their death recaps over and over and considering to themselves if they'd like to equip the same to find some relief from pain of dealing with it.

This procalypse needs to end before this patch goes to open access for the rest of PC and console on June 6th.
This flaw has the potential to ruin the PVP BG experience for thousands of people intent on giving this game another try. As a community we need to demand change, we need to demand ZOS regulate things such as this that are grossly overperforming. It doesn't matter how we go about minimizing their effectiveness, we need to try something.

My suggestion is to add a mechanic to battle spirit that reduces the effectiveness of procs (in BG's, and perhaps in Cyro as well). This way, any PVE builds using proc sets are not made ineffective, and we can find a resolution to this that makes everyone happy. Not sure what the best way to go about nerfing them would be, some suggest that making only one proc set effective at a time is a good place to start. But I highly doubt a change like this would stop anything, seeing as everyone would just run viper. Perhaps putting all proc sets on 1 singular global cooldown, doing an overall % reduction of proc damage, or proc chance, or literally any other method of reducing their effectiveness I am down for.

I am more than willing to hear other people's ideas in terms of bringing these in line with other sets. I'm sure plenty of you have more creative ideas than I ever could. I look forward to discussing this with others and hopefully convincing ZOS devs @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @Wrobel @ZOS_RichLambert @ZOS_BrianWheeler that these sets need some attention.

I hope that as a community, we can put aside preference for sake of balance, and foster challenging and purposeful PVP going forward.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Love,
Jules

Has this ever happened? Day of Peace in Cyrodiil

$

I'm a new player here (started last month). Has there ever been an organized day of peace in Cyrodiil?

Everyone's heard of the Christmas truce (if not, here's a Wikipedia link), a day of peace during WWI where many soldiers from both sides gathered in no man's land for a break from the fighting. Our day of peace would not have to be Christmas day, but rather any other day chosen by us. Indeed, Christmas day would not be the best choice because many players would not have time to get on their PCs.

Has this ever happened in Cyrodiil in ESO? I think if we plan a day like this far in advance, we could get many players in the forums and the developers behind this idea. Maybe the developers could create some holiday-event-ish things for players to do while the fighting is halted. There could even be quests associated with the peace event, where players could earn XPs or Alliance Points, which would create some incentive for halting the fighting. Personally, I would enjoy being able to explore more of Cyrodiil without the threat of attack.

I think an important aspect of this day would be to still have PvP enabled. It would be a special moment if everyone still had the potential to attack the other two alliances, but refused to do so by themselves in respect of this day. I think a day of peace in Cyrodiil would even make sense in the lore because I could see some of the Divines blessing a day to stop us mortals from fighting over the Ruby Throne.
