Precursor Maker (achievement guide)

This is a guide for the Precursor Maker collectible achievement in the DLC, Clockwork City. First off, a big thanks to my friend @zeroIndex for helping me locate some of the last few pieces, and spending several hours scouring the Clockwork City for the Integral of Reason with me.

NOTE: There is a bug which may occur if you do not activate the quest before collecting all of the parts. This bug will block you from completing the subsequent follow-up quest, which gives you the reward. (Thanks to @Phage for reporting it)

Below are hints for those just needing a little help to complete it on their own, as well as my video guide showing where to find each collectible for those just looking to complete it.

Hints / General Information about the Achievement:
  • To start the intro quest for the Precursor Maker you have to locate either Assistant Zanon's Workshop or activate the quest via the notice board, north of the bank inside the Brass Fortress.
  • After doing the intro quest to find the Integral of Memory, the Precursor will give you a random clue to locate one of his missing parts. These clues are extremely vague, often just pointing to a specific zone, but can be helpful if you are stuck. The clues for the three Integral collectibles in Clockwork City are a bit more specific, though.
  • Every single collectible piece found in Tamriel is inside a Dwemer delve, found in the main game (i.e. no other DLCs are required), and there can be several per zone, depending on the number of Dwemer delves available.
  • Two of the collectibles require quests to access, those being the Dynamo (Buried Secrets) and the Integral of Reason (Lost in the Gloam).
  • It is possible to collect all the parts before picking up the quest, and does save you a lot of time (if you know where they are) compared to constantly going back and forth to install parts.
  • Compared to previous collectible achievements this one right behind Ancestral Tombs Hunter in terms of difficulty, but still nowhere near as hard as Litany of Blood.

Locations of each Collectible (ordered after the achievement):
  • 1 - Left arm - Yldzuun (Alik'r)
  • 2 - Right arm - Klathzgar (Bangkorai)
  • 3 - Left leg - Avanchnzel (The Rift)
  • 4 - Right leg - Santaki (Alik'r)
  • 5 - Pelvis - Lower Bthanual (Deshaan)
  • 6 - Chestpiece - Aldunz (Alik'r)
  • 7 - Spine - Mzulft (Eastmarch)
  • 8 - Left hand - Inner Sea Armature (Stonefalls)
  • 9 - Right hand - Mzithumz (Deshaan)
  • 10 - Dynamo core - Bthzark (Stros M'kai) - Requires "Buried Secrets" quest, which is acquireable both outside and inside the delve
  • 11 - Integral of calculus - Mechanical Fundament (Clockwork City)
  • 12 - Integral of introspection - Near the Ventral Terminus (Clockwork City)
  • 13 - Integral of reason - Machine District (Clockwork City) - Requires "Lost in the Gloam" quest, which is the 5th main story quest
  • 14 - Nullification staff - Bthanual (Deshaan)

Reward:
The reward is literally the Precursor as a furnishing target dummy. He has ~300k health and makes a comment whenever you hit him, as well as when he is killed and respawns. As far as I am aware it is possible to obtain the Precursor dummy several times, if you were to do the achievement on multiple characters, so to those players wanting to assemble a robot army, your time is nigh!

Its like the outpost farm in the 1st AP event at the moment, no-one cares about the map. People take resources while a keep is UA. No-one defends. This AP gain from capping stuff is just encouraging mindless zergalism.

Now that overground sets like Spinners or Spriggans are getting BoE jewelry possibly available we are having even more PvE mindless zergalistic heroes in Vivec. Tactics are nie impossible because idiots are running around taking the nearest resources just for AP. Anyone that was desperate for Grand Overlord got it during the AP exploit event.

Tactics in Cyrodiil are in a bad state due to greed, please half the amount of AP we get from capturing stuff.

House Specific Quests

I was looking around the Pariah's Pinnacle house the other day, which I am super excited for, and I realized something.... it's a dump. There's rubble everywhere, the ceiling is collapsing and most of the arches are in ruin.

What do you guys think about ZOS adding a quest (or quests?) for some of the houses that will let you clean them up or expand them? Some ideas would be: Collect 500 Heartwood to build/repair a watch tower, find and hire a stonemason to repair walls, acquire some pitch to clear a blocked cave... and so on.

Just a rough concept, but what do you guys think?

Tail Armor?

This applies to Argonians more so than Khajiit since they have more prominent tails than the cat people. But feel free to discuss both races.
Since Argonians generally speaking have large fat tails sticking out from the back could we ever get something that acknowledges the tail that sticks out in the open?
Like this cinematic art work? Seems like a great opportunity for creativity. Especially for Argonian motifs.

Hello. I've recently moved from XBOX to PC. I have a GTX 1050Ti and I'm not sure of what settings to enable in the Nvidia control panel. Could someone help me?

Also all the in-game settings are default and set to high and its doing 60fps. I don't know what particle suppression and maximum particle systems are.

**Petition to fix the Imperial Fountain** - Clogged or Unclogged Pump ?

Hi all! I know this has been discussed many times and it seems like there are those of us who are interested in having the Imperial Fountain (Crown Store Only) actually be a working fountain.

It obviously can be done (ie. the ones in Cyrodiil and Coldharbour).

Since I cannot start a "petition", I am starting a poll and would like to see who out there would like to see this fountain's pump in working order.

@ZOS_GinaBruno please review this small request (like the one you performed for the Skooma Bubbler) knowing what a huge difference it would make to many of your players.

Even if you could just allow for it to have an "activate/deactivate" feature, (so that it still could keep the current look for those who might possibly like that), that would still be very much appreciated.

Magicka Hvy Attack builds used to be pretty decent for DK using Torugs and/or Elegant combinations or variations. Doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Anyone having a different experience?

Finally get to post some new content now I am settled in my new country. Had some epic fights with Knights of Ni last night so made that into a video. We are good friends with everyone in that guild and respect them a lot so it was good for me to finally have a good fight with them. I thought I'd take RP to a new geeky level - I just hope Abah doesn't mind that he was my outlet for that.

I'm playing this on my new iMac (used to use PC) and am a bit rusty so be gentle with me.

The crows from the set don't seem to count as pets and don't trigger pet specific skills such as hunt leader or the warden passives - i don't know if this is a bug or intentional so i am reporting it...if it's intentional it at least seems inconsistent since the hunger from the defiler set seems to trigger those?

Saved variables file size limits

so iv been using price tracker addon and it stores pricing data that i see on traders into the savedvariables folder.

The file has hit 76.8MB - yeh theres a lot of traders in the game, and ESO doesnt load any of it now.

Is there a file size limit for the stuff in this folder?

how does mm or ttc compare for instance for its variables? dont tell me to simply use them, id rather not. im asking about the savedvariables not what you prefer as a pricing addon.

So my build is dead next patch... i thought I was safe because I never used procs... I guess I was wrong.

I don't really know what to do now....

Current build
Clever alchemist + Strenght of automation.

2h Bar 1: Ambush, Flex, Supprise attack, Executioner, Rally, Onslaught
Bow Bar 2: Relentless focus, magelight, Cloak, Focused Aim, Vigor, Flawless dawnbreaker.

Flex: mass hysteria or shuffle or mark target

I cannot fight "fair" because I have 350 to +999 ping, i typically have very little time after engaging before I lag out. I enjoyed killing, roll doding and sprinting away.

Man siege?, rezz bot?, delete character?, go play PVE?

Would you like if the crown crates had a chance to contain another crown crate?
Instead of the potions, you get the experience of opening another crate, and another chance at disappointment?
The winner would be the one, who manages to get the longest chain of crown crate within crown crate, uninterrupted and would receive a special crate shaped mount.

COSTUMES I want to see please

Unfortunately, getting your gear right almost certainly leads to a total mis-match of Armour - and some of the best combinations are just plain UGLY! That’s why Costumes are so popular, and loads of them are terrific. So, while I love a whole heap of the costumes that I have acquired over the past few years, I really really really want to see.......

......normal armour costumes!

What I mean is, I want to be able to equip a costumer that looks like a standard motif in the game. For example, I really like the Nord heavy armour style - I’d simply like to be able to equip a Nord Heavy Armour costume. The art already exists in the game, and I imagine these options would be really popular.

1. Longer buff durations. Maintaining buffs is tedious.

2. Add a menu option to change the default roll direction from backwards to forwards. I've had a lot of deaths lately because my character rolled backwards while I was holding the forward key.

3. Change the way exp is shared when killing monsters so 4 or more people can get the same xp from 1 monster that someone soloing it would. The community becomes incredibly hostile towards each other during double exp events because of players leeching each other. Other games handle this by having everyone get full credit for a kill even if multiple players participated in the kill. Mechanics shouldn't exist in a game that cause the community to eat itself.

4. Help out new players more with suggestions on what their stats should look like for dps/healing/tanking. I've had too many groups lately with heavy armor 35k health players claiming they are dps. The person with 35k health is going to have a lot of bad experiences from getting kicked out of groups to general trash talk. There is a large range of what your stats could be and still achieve success in a dungeon, but you should never have 35k health while dpsing.

5. Make medium armor more usable in pvp. Possibly make the snare immunity duration on shuffle longer considering you have to wear 5 medium now to use it.

Soooo, the lock of character after using shade out of range was fixed, but a lot of new problems appeared
Things that happened to me during few hours:

1. When u use shade (being out of range) nothing happened, u go back in range and use it and it can teleport (can, it's randomly)
2. When u use shade (being in range) and nothing happened, no teleport, sometimes it worked in 3rd or 4th attempt, but it's random (u still have icon for teleport)
3. When u use shade (being in range) and u port to same place, where u stand (there is animation of porting and u appear in same place)
4. When u use shade (being in range),u port to shade, and moment after u port back to previous place
5. U cant reset shade (by going out of range and using teleport, icon for teleport will stay all the time, u will make animation for teleport, but nothing will happen), u need to w8 for the end of previous shade, to put another if u're out of range.
6. when u use shade there is bigger chance u will get stuck in rock/wals etc
7. when u use shade and it's working ppl near place u teleport to has that shaking screen effect too


I thought bugs are connected with moving out of range and going back again, but really looks like it's random, couldnt find any pattern.
Tbh would be nice if this got hotfixed, cuz it's even worse than week ago, before if we pay attention to stay in range we could still use skill efectively, now it's so random, that this skill is not usable for pvp
