Are you looking for a casual guild? Do you have real life responsibilities that limit your game time? If so, then OBSIDIAN GUARD is the right guild for you.

We are an EP based guild that is open to any alliance. We are an active, but casual guild and have expanded the guild's experience online to Azura's Keep at obsidianguard.com and Discord for mobile chat. This is where our members organize groups for PvE/Undaunted dailies/dungeons. The guild hosts regular events such as a monthly lottery, dolmen and world boss completions, skyshard hunting, PvP nights, sewer runs, social trials, etc. We also hold special events/contests where prizes are awarded.

To apply to the guild and post an introduction post (required to rank up in the guild), join us on Guilded: www.guilded.gg/#!AjrEw1kVRV

Interested in leveling your crafting? We have master crafters that can help you level your crafting skills or create gear for your characters. We have sister guilds that can help with provisioning, finding recipes, acquiring materials for crafting, or even farming for motifs. A huge benefit is that we do not charge guild fees. However, this means we do not have a trader. We do have a market in Azura's Keep and a specific channel on Discord where you can post or request items to buy/sell/trade with other members. It is not required that you join our website or Discord to be a member.

Our core philosophies have always been to enjoy playing with a laid back crew whenever you can and help out other members when needed.

If you're interested in joining us, please reply to the forum with your Xbox Live GT and we'll get an invite sent ASAP. OBSIDIAN GUARD is one of the longest running active guilds on the Xbox One NA server. Come join a guild where everyone has helped shape it into a home away from home!

ESO Master Angler: Rare Baits

I'm just going to get straight to the point. I personally believe that the rarer fishing baits: Chub, Shad, Minnow and Fish Roe should have like a 10% higher chance of catching rare fish. There have been some blue fish, that I've tried to catch and in the end I went through 800-1200 bait just for 1 blue fish and took me 5-9 days to catch with a partner or not, when I could of been playing PvP/Trials/Questing with friends.

Leave the common baits: Worms, Guts, Crawlers, Insect Parts and Simple Bait the way it is.

Plus when I buy Worms, Guts, Crawlers or Insect Parts from Guild Traders, I've notice the price for Chub, Shad, Minnow or Fish Roe is the same price as if there is "NO" real value in having the rarer baits in the first place, as they do you no greater then the common baits.

It's not like you use these rarer baits for crafting rare Provision food/drinks, no real value. So why have rare baits in the game in the first place, if there's no real benefit in having them to begin with?

I'd like to tell you about a special kind of player.

So my brother and I are kind of casual. We don't raid, we don't even do any repetitive content like dungeon farming. We kind of care about good gear, though, so we go for the best crafted options, because they are good in this game and also easy to get. We quest together and enjoy some activities like everything that has to do with stealth and thievery. My brother is from Skyrim with no MMO history, so you get why he is like this. I'm with a lot of MMO history, someone who's done it all, been to the top in other games and now can't be bothered anymore.

However, when it comes to it, we struggle to find a long-term goal in this game. We see no point in personal houses because they have little purpose. Hoarding money can be fun for a while, but it can't be the ultimate goal. Personally, I'm a fashion freak, so motif-hunting can be fun to some extent, but at some point I realized I have more styles than I would ever need, and even if I discovered something new and attractive I wouldn't bother creating an outfit with it. And my brother couldn't care less about looks.

So what we need is something attractive and purposeful that we enjoy doing. Stealing worked for us, while we still needed money for unlocks and gear. It's actually still great, I'm just finding less and less reason to justify doing it. As far as I'm concerned Morrowind was the greatest expansion ever as I love the Great Houses, their stories and styles, and the game provided a lot of reason and opportunity to go crazy on the island. Now it's over. Time for Summerset and I fear it's the end for us if the game doesn't bring something along the lines of what we need.

Like I said in the title, a special kind of player. I don't expect people to relate to this, but it would certainly help to know there are others like us. Because otherwise it may just be that we have grown out of gaming, which would be a problem.

New List of Garbage Sets

$
0
0
These are 5 pc sets that are utterly useless and may as well be deleted from the game or at least have major overhauls as they are just cluttering up inventories and confusing new players.

Notes:

* All previous lists are outdated.
* Updated to include new sets and correct errors.
* Ease or difficulty of getting any set is NOT considered.
* PvP vs PvE is NOT considered as a set is bad if it's bad regardless.

Rules of Engagement:

* Include sets that are garbage in EVERY conceivable build.
* Include those that are SO situational as to be statistically worthless.
* If you think a set is NOT useless state why in as much DETAIL as possible.
* If another set can do the job better include subsequent sets here.
* If you make a convincing enough argument I will remove or edit entry.

1. Magicka Furnace (used to be OP now Useless mainly due to insanely long CD included in #6 listed here as an example)
2. Treasure Hunter (5 pc is easily gained from other sources)
3. Spelunker (to specialized and not even good in its specialty)
4. Noble Duelist (to inconsistent and awkward even for pvp)
5. All Undaunted sets besides MAYBE Bastion and Infiltrator (not monster helmet sets)
6. All MOST sets with a stated CD over 1 3 seconds, Izos promised no CD's when they pitched this years ago but w/e now that they are here to stay, they are all WAY to long to be viable for MOST sets (note the word MOST)
7. All the trails sets that are crappy versions of other trials set (like the set that is exactly like Vicious Ophidian but without the weapon damage on 5 piece)
8. Redistributor Set ...so if you heal yourself, and you are at full, you heal another person for a tiny amount, but only every 3 seconds...wtf? Who could possibly benefit from this?
9. Oblivions Foe Set : Your 5 piece makes a single power go from utter crap to barely useable
10. Daedric Trickery: most of the buffs are easily gotten elsewhere, and the ones that are not (like Major Protection) are going to happen 10 seconds out of 100 on average
11. Tormentor: The 5 piece is a taunt and some minuscule damage on a charge. Lols.
12. Prayer Shawl: tiny proc chance on a tiny shield with a long cooldown, what's not to love?
13. Crusader: Unless this is somehow useful in PvP, I cannot see how this would possibly we useful, even in the niche of roll dodge related sets it's dead last
14. Combat Physician: See prayer Shawl. Shield still pretty small, now only on crit
15. Toothrow: This is Treasure Hunter for Stam
16. Essence Thief: So good on paper, until you watch a video of how far away the essence balls fly from you and the boss
17. Hunt Leader: Pet set...but stam, and there are no stam pets. Oops.
18. Glorious Defender: Best case 1 dodge every 10 seconds. So many ways to gain Evasion, which will be vastly better. No reason to ever use this.
19. Hircines Veneer ... 12% Stam recovery is almost nothing, it ought to be changed to cost reduction, like worm and have a weapon damage instead of 2 regen.
20. Gossamer is another set, they just need to make these sort of sets proc at full health, might be useful then.
21. Way of Martial Knowledge ... the best case is an extra 2.5% damage, 4 second cool down is too much, ought to be 2.
22. Shalidors Curse Set Healing taken slots are a waste, the last thing you want to be doing when below 50% health is be light attacking to get a trickle of health back :/
23. Ysgramor's Birthright. 400 SD for cold abilities mainly bc its borked and doesn't proc off of half of the frost abilities, if this is "as intended" then "abilities" is far to ambiguous.
24. Sithis' Touch. Gain Major Berserk for 20 s after using Blade of Woe such a narrow use in IC and questionable if it is even better than other sets that work everywhere all the time.
25. Shalks Exoskeleton Set This is one of those borderline good sets but its in some kind of identity crisis. It wants to be a tank set.. sort of... with the heavy armor and health enchants and traits on jewelry, but then it gives TWO bonuses for SPELL casters. Give it Major Heroism and we'll talk.
26. Warrior-Poet utter garbage, even the worst tank set does it better.
27. Ice Furnace. Only procs off of direct ice damage abilities... so like 2 or 3 frost staff abilities and 0 Warden abilities...the 4th set item is increase in weapon damage...Basically useless unless you are running with Frost staff which is very underwhelming at this point.
28. Pelinal's Aptitude - It's just plain awkward, you have to jump through hoops to try and do what other sets do easily and better.

If you disagree, I don't mind, just do so civilly or I will ignore you.

If this thread takes off with good ideas then I will expand the list.

+ Edited to clarify, add links and for better readability
+ Added sets
+ Note, set % and amounts can be adjusted, no need for ANY CD's, also no need to make the damage dots.
+ We could make a list of Good sets but we want to bring the bad ones to light so they can be fixed, adjusted or deleted.
+ Not interested in "some person somewhere maybe might somehow justbecauseyoudon't blahblahblah" "arguments" Details please.

What Do You Look Like in Real Life?

So I know that some of the regular posters on the forums stream or make videos, and as a result I know what some of you folks look like in real life, but I thought it might be fun to have a thread where people who want to can show us what you look like in real life. It could be really interesting to see if people look at all like how we picture them!

So anyone who's comfortable with showing the forums a picture of what you really look like, feel free to post it here so we can put a face to the name!

Guild icons:
"From the left, the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Undaunted, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and finally, the Psijic Order."

It is likely to be a skill line available to all classes, like undaunted, mages and fighters guild, rather than a new class

UESP recently datamined a new psijiic skilline and it is set to include new abilities such as healing among other things... and these seem to be abilities rather than passives but the problem with this is that there will come in droves of p2w whiners who will ruin the skilline like the warden was. The warden, the class that was said to be op and many threads were opened up crying p2w among other things but when released it was a good tank and a good healer but outclassed by dragon knights and Templars in tanking and healing. and don't get me started on dps where its medicore... BUT mah pvp, wardens are op in mah pvp... and so because of that reason wardens cannot receive buffs for pve or it will be op in pve... Tldr, wardens are ok but not the best in pve but are op in pvp, needs tweaking. worst mag dps etc

Now keep in mind this is a MMORPG, many of us pc players have already played mmos and understand that expansions will bring new abilities and tools to use and if you want to use that tools you need to upgrade the game into the current expansion but atleast unlike wow and other mmos, a player isn't completely screwed and can play other parts of the game just fine.

Now if it comes in an expansion its not p2w its fair because everyone has access to it along with the vast amount of content it contains

What P2W means = putting vma weapons into the crown store and gear that requires skill to unlock or putting weapons better than whats is obtainable ingame... anything that gives you an edge over whats not obtainable ingame

Convenience = crown potions and exp scrolls, research scrolls are not p2w for example and only shorten the amount of time required, plus you can craft the same items in game and usually even better

Now I know there will be atleast one of you out there that will say this: "ItS ToO EaRlY To SaY Op, ThE BeTaS NoT EveN OuT YeT!" yes but from experience with the amount of stuff that still went through from morrowind's beta as bugs that are now features, cough the morrowind missing skillpoint, the morrowind locked doors, red mountain not even appearing in Amaya lake lodge and ald velothi 1 year later (but was fixed asap for the crown store house Tel Galen) ... etc... Its safe to say that feedback as EARLY as possible is neccesary

The Nightblade Nerfs are coming, better let the good ones negotiate the changes

$

Right now Nightblades are more popular than ever, they have always been very popular as most people seem to be drawn to the rouge or assassin's playstyle.
But with past balance changes nightblades performance jumped from being a good to overperfoming.
When going into Cyrodiil stamina nightblades make about 25-35% of the whole playerbase in cyro while there are 10 specs.
When counting magicka nightblades aswell you'll see that 30-40% of Cyrodiils population is nightblades.

When looking at the other parts of the game, stamnbs and magnbs pull the highest ST meele and ranged damage thus are prefered for Trial groups. They also grant their group decent damage buffs with a high uptime on major slayer by utilising warmachine or master architect.

So why did they became so popular especially in pvp?
First nightblades have the easiest time to get kills even at low skill levels.
Your burst is front loaded so you don't need to survive to get the most out of your burst.
The burst is very high even when running a sustain build you pull equally high numbers as the other classes even when they are using offensive focused builds.
Also NB feature the cheapest single target nuke ability with 3 powerful effects, cc, major defile and a unique 20% damage boost for 6 seconds, aswell as an non ultimate nuke that has a higher tooltip than incap which got changed twice to become useable even for the worst players and a high damage spammable that also applies major fracture.
These 3 things are enough to kill 80% of all players in cyro even if you have no idea about the game.

The fun doesn't stop here however, nightblades also have great defence and the best mobility skill in the game, shadow image. There is no skill in the whole game that can compete with the kiting opportunities this skill has to offer. And what you shouldn't forget nightblades also have access to cloak, when used right cloak prevents you from taking any kinds of damage, gives you unlimited crit heals which equals to having major mending and vitality all the time and makes you invisible for your enemy so he has no idea where you are going or that you are even there.
This strength comes at a price tho. Cloak only saves you as long as it doesn't get countered here is what distinguishes good nightblades from bad nightblades. A good Nightblade won't let you counter cloak with things like AoEs or mage light. The only way to catch them is by using mark aka being a nightblade yourself or using detection pots which come at a very high opportunity cost while having a long cooldown on top.

To round up the package nightblades have access to some of the greatest passives in the game along with other strong utility skills and due to their defence being able to completely negate any incoming damage they are able to run high damage builds with bad in-fight survivability because they don't have to be in a fight they don't want to be in.

This results in a class that can kill most players in few seconds, while being able to escape reliably when they fail to be successful. Mixed with the low cost of incap and the overall effectiveness of the nightblades toolkit they can continue to engage and disengage at will until they are successful or mess up. With increasing skill level the numbers of times you die because you messed up goes to zero.

So we have nightblades, a class that can hunt everyone but doesn't have to fear the other classes. The only natural predator a nightblade has today is ,outside of its own lack of skill, other nightblades.

All this will result in changes to the nightblade class or to say the bad words: Nightblades will be nerfed!

Due to their popularity in game the nightblade lobby here on the forums is really loud and big but consists of many people who can't fully utilise the class to its full strength and thus saying that they are weak.
But every good Nightblade agrees that they are currently too strong.

So we are heading towards nerfs, they will come and when the community doesn't provide good proposals nightblades will end where stamdk is in pvp or magwarden is in pve right now, completely outclassed by everything else.

There are a few things which are hot candidates for getting nerfed:
Incap: even magnbs are running this over the magicka version as it gives you so much burst with the high damage and cc tied to it. and the skill is overloaded to begin with. This would be the attempt to make the killing power of nightblades a bit less threatening. The easiest way is to remove the CC. This forces the nb to use one additional GCD for a CC to land its burst. In pvp this is a lot.
Short Example: With CC on Incap:
(1.GCD) Heavy attack+ incap from stealth ~9k damage 10k when using Bash aswell
(2.GCD) Light attack+will ~ 12k damage/ 10k when light attack+ Suprise attack
Most players cannot react fast enough to break the CC and avoid the will because the incap cc is as buggy as it is but also due to lag.
Most players in cyro have 23-26k health. So in just 1 second of fight they are at 1-5k health with major defile on them + 20% more damage taken. To survive in this situation you have to dodge, heal to atleast 12k health before the dodge roll ends and pray that the lag doesn't make the next Suprise attack hit you through dodge or that you didn't lost any health to begin with or had a dot on you. If one of these things fails you are dead.

Now the same fight without a CC on Incap:
(1. GCD) Heavy attack + fear to CC your target ~ 3-4k damage
(2.GCD) Light attack + incap ~ 7-8k damage
(3. GCD) now you want to use your will or suprise attack to secure the kill but your enemy isn't CC'ed anymore and will likely dodge so you have to wait and be more strategic when to use your abilities. The damage output against NPCs and bad players stays the same but it's harder to kill good players as easy as it is now.
Cloak: @Ragnaroek93 made a great post how to balance cloak so i hope he can share his ideas in this post. (I'm not a fan of nerfing cloak as it's the iconic nightblade skill and it gives NBs a different approach of surviving but you have to be open for everything when talking about balance)

And here is my rant for everyone who plays a nightblade himself and doesn't want the class to be nerfed. It will happen so please let the good nightblade players lead the discussions about changes to nightblades they have no intrest to kill the class by any means but make it balanced and fun to play. If you have never played alone as a stamblade, fail to reach 40k single target self buffed or haven't completed atleast 4 hm trials, have more than 10 deaths during a 4 hour pvp session or lose many 1v1 fights you should rethink if you have the needed insight for balance discussions about nightblades.
This is not elitism this is to prevent overnerfs for one class

Edit: never write BB code and mix up \ with /

In heavy attack builds, why do you not put CP points into.....

....Physical Weapons Expert?

I'm continuously trawling the YouTube looking for clues on how to improve my builds and especially my CP allocation (as I play on Vivec). Given that soooo many builds are based around light/heavy attacks, I'm wondering why people don't put any points into this CP passive? Some people do but it is never very much. It sounds perfect for heavy attack builds....

Endless number of Atros in AA HM

$

Yesterday, i was in AA with my Group and we wanted to do the HM in AA. Our normal way to play this Boss is that one tank takes all the atros and place them at one side of the platform so they are in no AoE and we can ignore them. When we did this we had normaly 4 Atros when the boss went into the finisher Phase. Yesterday, we had at 60% bosslife already 8 Atros and they spawned in extreme Speed. When we wiped we hat a 12 Atros.(sorry, have forgotten to take a screenshot)
I haven't seen any comments in the last patchotes that they have changed this. So when did they do this or was it only a unintended bug?

Have you purchased additional outfit slots?
