A plead to change Vampires to powerful beings instead of lifeless husks with no sustain

Will Summerset repair vampires ? Leaving the 75% health regen impairment, is there any positive change to Mist Form ?
I see Zeni has started to changed unused skills and morphs, perhaps that thing could be put to a good use...

When you sell the very breath of your life, 75% of your health regen, for just a pesky +10% magicka regen, it's called being duped, people!

If You Could Add Three Things To The Crown Store, What Would They Be?

Hey guys,

Bit of an oddball question but if you could add three items to the Crown Store, what would they be?

If I could, I would add Jorunn the Skald-King’s hair and beard in a pack, Sai Sahan’s beard, and a bundle with new hair and beards that fit the Nordic theme with the braids and rings and such. Honestly, most of the options we have suck in my opinion so some new options would be cool.

ESO: Morrowind Size Comparison (Now With A Summerset Update)

Many will have seen this in the closed Beta forum, but I wanted to bring the post out since the NDA has been lifted.

The Video Version:

So a recent MMORPG.com article showed a map of Craglorn side-by-side with a map of Vvardenfell with a blurb "Vvardenfell is indeed the game’s largest single zone to date". Well this has lead to many saying it's the same size or even smaller for various reasons.

Morrowind%201_t.jpg

We've also heard repeatedly from ZOS that Vvardenfell is the "largest zone to date". But is it really? That's the task I set out to prove or disprove.

First let's talk about that huge volcano everyone likes to reference. Yep, it's there. Yep, it not explorable space. So with huge props to Reddit user LonelyTank, who did all the work, let's remove all unexplorable space from the maps of Vvardenfell, Craglorn and Wrothgar.

HrdXSIv.jpg

Pmun3Zg.png

Now let's count the pixels of explorable space. Seriously.
  • Vvardenfell has 84,259 pixels
  • Craglorn has 66,348 pixels
  • Wrothgar has 70,091 pixels

So in simply pixels of overworld explorable space, Vvardefell is 27.00% larger than Craglorn and 20.21% larger than Wrothgar. But that's not the whole story.

Comparing maps comes down to the scale of each map. How do we determine that? For this mission I got an assist from the add-on Map Coordinates and here's what I did. I went into Vvardenfell took my starting XY coordinates, /coords with the add-on installed, walked (technically it's running) in one direction for 10 seconds and stopped. I recorded the XY coordinates of my finish point and calculated the distance. I did this three times and came out with an average of 1.4958 units. All maps start at 0,0 in the upper left and end at 100,100 in the lower right. I did the same for Craglorn and got an average of 1.9348 units and in Wrothgar I got 1.9026. The fact that I traversed less distance on the Vvardefell map in the same amount of time means the Vvardenfell map is larger. In fact it is exactly 29.35% larger than Craglorn and 27.19% larger than Wrothgar. This means when adjusted for scale, Vvardenfell's pixel count becomes 108,986 when compared to Craglorn and 107,170 when compared to Wrothgar.

This makes the explorable overland space of Vvardenfell 64.26% larger than Craglorn and 52.90% larger than Wrothgar.

So I am sure not one to judge people at all but during my short time period on this game I have definitely ran into quit a few people who talk crap on low levels they play with and I just don’t understand why they do so, if you have such a problem with people why stay in a group with them and not just leave? Yes this is probably a stupid post but for such a beautiful game why do people still have to hate, I may never understand.

Help Improving DPS?

Looking for help with NightBlad and DragonKnigh DPS build and confirming DPS.

I have 2 high level DPS characters and both suffer from DIS (Damage Is ***).

I have a 'Nightblad' and a 'DragonKnight' that are DPS focused.

Both are lvl 50 670+ CP.

Both have lvl 50 160 gear. The 'Nightblad' has a complete 'Gold' set.

And in my first DPS test with a 'Human Skeleton' dummy they both did about 5K dps.

I have read several 'guides' that claim to provide the best DPS build for the 'Nightblad' and tried to emulate them as closely as possible and managed to get up to 7.5K.

I was able to get up to 8K by creating my own build that focused on critical and damage over time effect boots but I can't seem to break this beerier.

Then I started thinking about it critically and I don't see any real way to improve further. No items give a '500% DPS Increase' bonus. Most items give you effects that may will increase DPS output for a specific effect by between 10% and 30% so unless there is some 'bugged' items that are giving 10X their stated effects I don't see how any set is going to double or triple my DPS.

I then though well maybe people are taking advantage of some kind of animation glitch that lets them spam an attack at an increased rate. However, basic attracts would need to be about 5X more frequent to double my DPS which means somehow triggering the effect ever 200ms constantly and it would still only get me to 16K at best.

So, I think I am missing some major component here.

Is there anyone who can provide some guidance on correctly testing DPS and making improvements.

What test dummy are people using who are seeing 32K dps? (I noticed the test dummy I am using has very high resistance)

Are their critical 'potions' or 'buffs' that I should be using?

Is there their something I am obvious just not understanding?

Week 1 - charge first enemies you see, die in 2 seconds.
Week 2 - join the zerg, PvDoor, die once every 10-20 minutes.
Week 3 - charge lone enemy player, die in 10 seconds.
Week 4 - re-join zerg, PvDoor, die 1-2 times an hour.
Week 5 - charge unsuspecting enemy, kill them, die to their friends 5 seconds later, watch them get rezzed.
Week 6 - back to the zerg, venture away from crown occasionally to pick off enemy stragglers with help, die 2-3 times an hour.
Week 7 - plan an attack, kill player, survive! Get over confident, charge group of players, die in 2 seconds.
Week 8 - follow zerg around at a distance with a few other players finding opportunities to kill enemies away from main zerg, die every 10-20 minutes.
Week 9 - wait along popular travel routs and pick off players making their way to objective, get overwhelmed after 30 minutes.
Week 10 - get your first PvP related hate whisper, REJOICE!

Please be aware of login times for the free crown crates.

If in the UK you need to login @ 3pm bst each day to be eligible for the free crate. So if online the last day you will need to quit game and log to get all 6 crates. Please adjust times for your own time zones accordingly.

I have missed out on crates before because of this.

Just the sound of incap strike (or whatever that nb skill that stuns you for a long time) makes me want to hunt those nbs all down giving no chance for them to recover as hurricane pulls them outta stealth

Special mention goes to hearing a horde of bow light attacks and snipes as the red zerg tries to consume you

ZOS please, change daily reset for horses and hirelings to avoid unnecessary re-logging to servers.

$

The title pretty much says it all. The community asked in the past the 24 horse to be made flexible for daily logon, and ZOS listened - it is 20 hours now, so that we don't have to bother with the minute and the seconds! This was a wise decision and perfect QoL!

However, we still need to log all our alts once for the horse and crafting, and if we can not manage to sync both timers with the hirelings - a second time only for that. This is generating on average 20 logins per person only for this (crafting writs and daily tasks based on timers). Why not have it bound to the daily reset? This way - when a person logs an alt she/he can do everything necessary without the need to think about it anymore for the day.

I believe this will help prevent million server requests 24x7 and help mitigate the long loading screens we all experience, especially on events and prime-times. I am sure this is not the only reason, but one nice feature this game learns everyone of us is that every bit helps!

If I am tired or don't have time to log on - I will not. Forcing me to log on for one or another reason will not make me stay longer online ... because this is how long I can stay online.
I really don't see a real benefit from this.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Auros :)

Two Feature Requests (Good ones!)

I would like to think I have good ideas, and previous ideas of mine(by coincidence or not) have ended up features in the game so thought I'd keep throwing ideas out...
  1. Offer character sorting on the selection screen. It seems easy enough, but I'm not a game developer. I think it would add a thoughtful layer of game presentation to the players.
  2. Rather than clicking on someone's name in the Guild Roster and clicking "Travel to Primary Residence", the option is "Travel to Residence" and a small menu appears that pulls up that players residences and allows travel to any one, not just the Primary one. This would be great for a level of customization, great for guilds, and I'm sure there are other applications.

Hope this helps!

Negate (Silence) should not affect Repentance and similar skills

$

So, the tooltip of Negate states that it silences enemy players, which in turn prevents them from casting spells (and ultimates).
From my understanding, spells in eso are all skills that costs magicka.
So why are skills like repentance or the warden netch affected by a negate? Those skills do not have a cost and - in my opinion - should not be classified as spells.

This, of course, only affects the Morph Repentance and not the base version and the other morph of the skill.
For the warden skill, only the mag version is affected and the stam version is not. I do not think that is correct behaviour as both skills do not have a cost, even though I do understand where it comes from more here as the mag morph will be chosen by the magicka wardens 99% of the time. Repentance however is used by both magicka and stamina templars.

Why on earth am I forced to install this game on my c: drive?

Current year is 2018. 18 years ago it was absolute common to choose where you install a game. In fact in 2 decades I have never encountered a game that forced you to install on c:

Is there seriously no way to install this game on another drive?

A post from a graphics dev about progress on multicore and an FPS tip (from PTS forum)

$
0
0
I have no idea what of this pertains to Live vs PTS, hopefully he doesn't mind me posting it here. (I put some parts in bold)
PTS 1 doesn't have all of the performance improvements, there are a number of additional changes that are rolling out in upcoming PTS iterations. Quad-core machines (without hyperthreading) in particular should see a bump in the next PTS update. We're also tracking down and smoothing out hitching issues, specifically ones people encounter when running through cities and the FPS tanks abruptly for a few frames.

To give more technical details for those who are interested, you should not expect even distribution across your CPU cores after this update, just more distribution to the non-main-thread cores than you had before, especially at times when there are a lot of things loading in. Your main core thread will still be topping off, trying to go as fast as it can through each frame. For almost all of you, the bottleneck of your framerate is your CPU, not your GPU, so if you're not seeing high utilization of your GPU, it's most likely because the CPU-side of the game isn't keeping up.

Given that ESO originally had to support very old CPUs, it's no secret that it was written from the ground-up as an effectively single-threaded application. As time went on and the min-spec was updated, and with the launch of Tamriel Unlimited/XB1/PS4, it necessitated the ability to use multiple cores in order for the game to run well (as it should). The work started then and continues through the present.

It's been an ongoing process to shift work over to other cores (and to the GPU) where we can in order to make the game perform better, and the work involved in doing so is fairly complex. It's not something we can point to and say "make all cores do the same amount of work" (though that is the goal!), it's typically "this certain part of the update takes a long time, let's find a way to shift that work over to other cores." Doing that is almost always a bit of a challenge because we have to make sure the cores that do that work don't conflict with things other cores are doing, which can cause corruption, crashes, hangs, etc. We also have to ensure that the changes are positive across all the platforms as well, from the wide range of supported CPUs on Windows + Mac, to XB1 and PS4, so these changes have to come out incrementally to ensure we make the experience better across the board.

We have a lot more work to do here, and we will continue to make improvements. There's always something that can be made better.

PS: Pro tip, if you have a good GPU and have all your settings maxed but want higher performance, change your Reflection Quality to Low instead of Medium or High. "Low" reflections are actually using screen-space reflections, rather than heavy-duty planar reflections. Planar reflections are more accurate, but they're far harder on the CPU, whereas screen space reflections are almost entirely a GPU operation and should lighten the load on your CPU quite a bit.
