Been away from ESO....should I come back?

I've been trying to get myself into this game since launch but I loved Oblivion and Skyrim so much the changes made to take this into MMO territory really put me off....now I'm feeling that I have really missed the boat!

Is it too late to begin my adventure? If not, why? It may seem a stupid thing to ask but I really am conflicted especially as there is so much info and a lot I am going to have to learn.

How To Create A Moamer Race Character

This guide attempts to mimic the moamer found prior to the summerset dlc. I really liked the way the maomer looked since seeing them in the dominion storyline so I decided to make a guide on how to make one. Sorry I do not know maomer naming conventions so I cannot help you there

Requirements:
Race: Altmer
Vamprism Stage 3 (drink bloody mara to maintain this stage or feed)
Skin color bottom left First two blocks (to mimic a more maomer like appearance).
39y4vgaqd94h.png
Hair color: White
Motif, Pyandonean
Big finlike ears
Facial hair: Oracle Eyes.
Head markings: White Highlight lip dye
Faction: Anything but the Aldmeri Dominion. The Altmer HATE the moamer.
Sidenote: I wish zos updated the old maomer with the new racial motif

The vampire veins sorta reminiscient of the new moamer but if you want to look newer then you will need to make your ears huge like the one on the right

Anyone try Mech Acuity and Scathing Mage for a MagSorc?

So I was thinking of trying out:

2 Ilambris
5 Mech Acuity
5 Scathing Mage

I have not tried this yet, but going for a high crit build with periods of extreme burst damage every 18 seconds would be pretty neat.

I run a large, active social guild aimed at being new player & advanced player friendly.
We link up frequently for general help, grinding, and the exp boost.
We have plenty of players who can help new members acquire gear.
We farm gear sets together to help everyone get what they need as well.
We do weekly PvP and PvE Events.
These Include Skyshard Hunts, Area Boss Clears, Delves, Dungeons, and Trials.
There are No weekly dues, but any donations we receive are used to help purchase the occasional guild trader, and pay for events.
We hold Raffle and Lottery events weekly.
We have crafters for all your crafting needs.
You can join up to 5 player guilds. I've always felt that new players don't have much guild access/use in most large guilds due to the end game items and players that make up the majority.
As we have a variety of levels, there is always a variety of gear/equipment to choose from to help you destroy your foes and advance your character!
We have plenty of friendly members who are always willing to answer questions and help out new players.
We currently have over 490 members and do frequently hit capacity.
Players we know have been inactive for a long time will be rotated out to make room for newer, active players.
We have an age limit of 18+

Bug? Biting Jabs, Selene’s, & Mechanical Acuity

$

I think that either Selene’s or Biting Jabs or both are bugged.

Biting Jabs procs Selene’s implying that Biting Jabs is Direct Melee Damage.

Biting Jabs does not proc the new Mechanical Acuity set implying that Biting Jabs is not Direct Damage.

(I could stop here but my editorial on proc sets and damage types is starting now)

Biting Jabs/Puncturing Sweeps does not proc Scathing Mage implying neither is direct damage.

Puncturing Sweeps does not proc Selene’s implying Puncturing Sweeps is not Direct Melee Damage.

Jabs/Sweeps benefit from Thaumaturge and not Master-at-Arms implying they are DoT and not Direct Damage.

I haven’t fully tested all combinations of Jabs/Sweeps + PROC SET, but it seems to me that I have already listed a few discrepancies in procs and naming conventions. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE that Biting Jabs can proc Selene’s, but having inconsistencies in ability types can make it enormously frustrating to be able to predict whether or not farming a certain proc set will be worth while. For example I spent a long time getting 5 set of Scathing Mage only to find out that Sweeps doesn’t proc it. I had figured it would be a viable alternative to BSW (due to the fact its cool down and duration are the same) and I knew Biting Jabs procs Selene’s (meaning sweeps is probably Direct Damage too), so guessed that sweeps would end up proccing Scathing Mage relatively quickly after the cool down was up. Nope! I did get some Elegant Lining though...

Question for master crafters, what do on-crafter friends pay?

As the poll question implies, what do your non-crafting friends have to give/pay you to get a set of CP160 gear from you?

I think the gap has closed between Redgaurd and Khajiit.

Stamblade- After doing some tests, my Khajiit with dubious on with a 3 million Dummy does about the same DPS as my Redgaurd with blue food. Yes, I know it's a 3 million dummy. Yes, I'm aware that longer fights are more sustain checks but I can put blue food on with my Khajiit in a raid due to synergies and never run out of Stam .

Also.. yes I'm aware.. "LOL 3 MILLION DUMMY".

Anyone have any thoughts?

Minimum Weekly Requirements ("xCoin Balances"): In most high-end Trade Guilds, you'll be asked to "Sell 150,000g per week" or "Donate 10k". That's a fine system, simple and easy to understand, but we've found that it leaves a lot to be desired. What if you can't sell 100k this week, but you donated 10,000g to the Bank? Or maybe you spent 500,000g on new gear in our Guild Store this week, and don't have enough left over to donate? Technically, that 10,000g donation brings in more than 100,000g in sales would yield in tax revenue - and 500k in purchases generates 17,500g in tax - but other guilds with systems like those above may not be able to give you credit for that, and we think that's a shame.

That's why we've developed our "xCoin Balance" system - it's a custom, comprehensive metric that we track manually, and it's the only truly-accurate measure of the exact amount of gold you're contributing to the Guild's bottom line on a weekly and monthly basis. "xCoin" tracks the taxes you generate from both Purchases and Sales, profit from Raffle Ticket purchases, gold contributed via Gold and Item donations, and it even calculates how much you over-pay for an item in our weekly Auctions (as compared to the Market Value), and credits you the difference. We believe in being fair and putting in that extra effort to make sure all of our members' contributions are accounted for accurately. We also believe in full transparency - our "xCoin Balances" are calculated at the end of each Fiscal Week, and the scores are posted to our website, so members can keep track of their progress.

To read more about our "xCoin Balance" system, including detailed breakdowns of how our calculations are made, please head over to http://www.skavyn.com/FAQ.

Guild Ranks: Our Guild Ranks are set at various "xCoin Balance" thresholds. If your Average Weekly xCoin Balance for the current month is above the minimum threshold for a rank, you'll be promoted to that Guild Rank.

Additionally, we offer ten "Honorary Officer" positions to our Top 10 Monthly Contributors. These "Shareholders" are promoted at the end of each Fiscal Month, and they hold their ranks for the next month (or until someone else out-contributes them).

Rank List:
  • Guild Master
  • Senior Officer
  • Officer
  • Junior Officer
  • Shareholder - Top 10 Monthly Contributors
  • Maverick - 50,000+ xCoin/week
  • Tycoon - 35,000 - 49,999 xCoin/week
  • Mogul - 20,000 - 34,999 xCoin/week
  • Merchant - 12,500 - 19,999 xCoin/week
  • Peddler - 0 - 12,499 xCoin/week

Weekly Events: Every week, we host a variety of fun events to help support the guild and our members.
  • Weekly Raffles
Every week, we host a massive weekly Raffle, complete with multiple valuable prizes. Tickets cost 1,000g each, and there's no limit to the tickets you can buy. Prizes include Raw Materials, Tempers, Motifs, Recipes, Furniture Packs, Custom Legendary Armor & Weapons, Nirncrux, Player Houses, 1,000,000g, and more!
  • Weekly Live Auctions
On Friday and Saturday Nights, we host weekly Live Auctions in Guild Chat for all of our members. All proceeds from the items sold help the Guild pay for their weekly Trader Kiosk bids!
  • Item Raffles
In addition to our weekly Gold Raffle, every week we hold a series of Item Raffles - simply send in your raw materials, Tempers, Motifs, Master Writs, etc., and we'll give you tickets based on what you send in. One winner each week will take home half of the entries! It's another great way to support the guild outside of sales and gold donations.
  • Farmageddon
Farmageddon is an event we host multiple times each week. All members gather together for an hour to farm as much as they can for one hour, and the top farmers win gold prizes! All items collected are donated to the Guild to stock our Auctions and Raffles, and also can be sold to help cover our weekly Trader Kiosk bids. New farmers are always welcome, as we treat these events like "classes" where our Veterans can help teach you to be more efficient and make more gold!

How To Join: To join, leave a message here and one of our officers will hook you up! Once you've joined, make sure to head over to our website (http://www.skavyn.com/) and read our FAQ for full details on our requirements, membership policies, and events!

So, is it still possible to "do quests in any order you like?" (minor spoiler)

Just finished Summerset quests.

One thing I noticed is, there is a huge lot of things will happen differently if you never did Morrowind quest lines first. Or even, never finished vanilla first
I did all the dlc/chapter quests in order of their release, so I'm fine with it, I very much like it even.

But I wonder how players never did Morrowind/Clockwork experience Summerset?

Stats on set items bugged

Ok this is strange. Ever since summerset update on xbox one the stats on all sets are increased on a below level 50 character compared to on my cp ones, for example a GOLD hundings rage 5 piece gives 299 weapon damage when I'm on a cp character but when i look at the same set on a level 30 the set gives 366 and like 346 at blue quality. I'm confused

Character advice plz

Ok...I'm technically a newbie but have six characters that I made up about two years ago and never played.

I want to concentrate on creating a battlemage that can heal as well as attack especially as I'd like to join a guild as soon as I can find one silly enough to accept me, but I would also like to have a tank to just have fun with. Should I just start again as none are higher than level 5? What would be best races/classes for these

How many characters do you use and why?

Out of these two sets which one do you think applies the most pressure damage wise in the shortest amount of time? Also take into consideration their two, three and four piece bonuses factored in with their fifth piece bonuses and also consider the light attack changes made with Summerset so light attack weaving between attacks. Thanks for your opinions.

Fixing it next update isn't good enough! (Sload's)

I'm sorry but pvp has become unplayable for me atm. Sload's semblance is making outnumbered fights impossible on nightblades. It is not only a ridiculous damage crutch but is also a complete hardcounter to medium armour stamblades (and to shielding classes, to an extent).

So many mediocre players are able to perform at a top tier level against builds that are especially susceptible to sload's. I am really inclined to call out some of these clowns. On EU there's organised groups all running sload's and tbagging/whispering for kiting them. 3 or more sload's on my recap from different people has become commonplace.

Sload's along with perpetual lag in Vivec has made me quit PvP. If at least one of these issues is not resolved within a couple weeks, I don't think I'll return at all. I certainly won't wait for the next large update to go live.

Sorry for the rant, anyone who's been playing in Cyrodiil will be able to understand my vexation.

What Order Should I Do ESO's Story Arcs? - A Guide

$

Since One Tamriel, players have been able to go anywhere and do anything in Tamriel. This makes for an awesome open-world sandbox style adventure in the vein of past Elder Scrolls games, but also messes with quest and storyline continuity something fierce.

Add to this post-One Tamriel world zones from DLCs and Chapters, and the world gets very confusing for anyone who wants a coherent, cohesive, immersive storyline that spans the entire continent.

This write-up is aimed towards new players wondering "Where do I begin so I can experience the great stories that ZOS wrote into ESO without being completely lost?" I'll try to avoid spoilers as much as possible while explaining the rationale for quest order. If you just want a list of quests in order, I highly recommend this resource: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Quests

Starting Tutorial: The starting Tutorial changes with each Chapter. If you own only the base game, you will start in Coldharbor. If you own the ESO/Morrowind, you will start in Morrowind. If you own Summerset, the most current Chapter, you will start in Summerset. There is no option to change your starting location from these places. If you skip the tutorial, you will end up in the ending region of that tutorial (Starter Island, Morrowind, Summerset, respectively.)

Getting Started

The Vestige
Important Spoiler Below for the Coldharbor Tutorial/ The Hooded Figure Quest
The Player Character becomes a soul-shriven Vestige with no soul in the Coldharbor Tutorial. Many quests in the base game zones and some quests in the Daedric Wars zones will acknowledge this. Therefore, I highly recommend that you complete this tutorial as soon as possible after starting a new character. You will need to wayshrine to the starter city of your alliance, talk to the Hooded Figure and complete the Coldharbor Tutorial quest so you can get started on that portion of the Main Quest. Starter Cities are: Davon's Watch, Stonefalls for the Ebonheart Pact; Vulkhel Guard, Auridon for the Aldmeri Dominion; Daggerfall, Glenumbra for the Daggerfall Covenant.
What if I want to roleplay a vampire/werewolf?
The shrines for vampire and werewolf are found in the Rift, Reaper's March, and Bangkorai. You can hunt for NPC mobs of werewolves and bloodfiends or you can do what I did and ask for a bite in zone chat. Many players will give a bite for free. I got mine quickly by offering to pay for it.

From there you have a choice of two major Content Arcs: Molag Bal's Planemeld or the Daedric Wars

Molag Bal's Planemeld
This arc takes up the majority of the base game zones and the Main Quest. It precedes the Daedric Wars arc chronologically.

The Daedric Wars
This arc takes up Morrowind ->Clockwork City -> Summerset Isles, though each is designed to be able to be a standalone story. This arc is after the Planemeld chronologically but can be completed beforehand with minimal immersion problems.

Daedric Wars: Morrowind, Clockwork City, Summerset Isles
Since its the most recent content, let's deal with this first.

Chronologically, the Daedric Wars happens after the player has completed the Main Quest of the Molag Bal's Planemeld Arc. It also happens after the Orsinium DLC, which has an easter egg from the end of the Coldharbor questline and another easter egg foreshadowing events in Clockwork City. Nevertheless, players can experience the Daedric Wars arc without having completed the Planemeld or Orsinium (which has very little bearing on the arc).

Morrowind, Clockwork City and Summerset Isles are designed to be standalone. I think they are better in their chronological order. Morrowind serves as an extended prologue to the events of Clockwork City.

Molag Bal's Planemeld: Alliance Zones, Coldharbor, Fighter's Guild, Mages Guild, and the Main Quest

The Main Quest starts in the starter city of your alliance when you talk to the Hooded Figure and you'll experience the original Coldharbor tutorial. This will dump you on your alliance's starter island(s). Starter Cities are Davon's Watch, Stonefalls for the Ebonheart Pact; Vulkhel Guard, Auridon for the Aldmeri Dominion; Daggerfall, Glenumbra for the Daggerfall Covenant.

From there, the pre-One Tamriel order goes like this:
Starter Island(s)
1st Zone (start fighters and mages guild, start Haborage quests for Main Quest, writ certifications, etc.)
2nd-5th zone, doing fighters guild, mages guild, and Main quests as you level up, until you've finished your alliance, guilds, and stopped getting Main Quests.
When you get the "Messages Across Tamriel" quest, you'll gather the 3 faction leaders and prepare to assault Coldharbor
Do the Coldharbor quests. These are prerequisites for completing the Main Quest.
Complete the Main Quest
Talk to Cadwell about doing Cadwell's Silver and Cadwell's Gold which are the other faction's questlines.

Alliance Zone Order

Ebonheart Pact has a fairly fragmented storyline, but there are a few events that will only make sense if done in order (technically Deshaan and Shadowfen could probably swap around without a problem).
Chronological Order: Bleakrock Isle -> Bal Foyen -> Stonefalls -> Deshaan -> Shadowfen -> Eastmarch -> The Rift

Daggerfall Covenant is also fairly fragmented, but has more characters that carry through from zone to zone. (Technically, Alik'r Desert could be done at any time after Stormhaven, story wise.)
Chronological Order: Stros M'Kai ->Betnikh -> Glenumbra -> Stormhaven -> Rivenspire -> Alik'r Desert -> Bangkorai

Aldmeri Dominion has a very coherent and cohesive storyline with tons of recurring characters. Please do this questline in order or you will be very confused.
Chronological Order: Khenarthi's Roost -> Auridon -> Grahtwood -> Greenshade -> Malabal Tor -> Reaper's March

DLC and Other Zones:
  • Cyrodiil: Cyrodiil is a PVP zone, where the quests are very simplistic and have little to no story, due to the risk of fighting enemy players. It happens concurrently with the Planemeld and before the White Gold Tower dungeon.
  • Imperial City: the Imperial City is a PVP zone with a PVE/PVP main quest. The main quest will involve questing in PVP-enabled areas with lots of miniboss NPCs. White Gold Tower dungeon makes a nice conclusion to the IC main quest (though that dark anchor still doesn't close.)
  • Craglorn: Craglorn is part of the base game but has its own problems apart from the Daedra. Several parts of the quests strongly advise getting a group of players together to complete them.
  • Dungeons and Dungeon DLC: aside from White Gold Tower, none of the dungeons have any impact on the storyline as a whole
  • Gold Coast: Gold Coast happens after the Planemeld and has recurring characters from all three Alliance storylines
  • Hew's Bane: happens after the Planemeld, I don't believe it has recurring characters from the alliance storylines?
  • Orsinium: happens after the Planemeld and before the Daedric Wars Arc. This has an easter egg for something at the end of Coldharbor and an easter egg foreshadowing Clockwork City and coming after the end of the Main Quest. I highly recommend doing Orsinium after doing the Daggerfall Covenant questlines.

So what if I really miss or want to have the pre-One Tamriel Questing Experience?

1. Start a new character and wayshrine to your Alliance's Starter City
2. Accept the Main Quest from the Hooded Figure
3. Complete your Alliance's Main quest in order alongside the Fighters and Mages guild quests for that zone, and the Harborage quests for the Main Questline. Originally the Main Quest progressed at every 5 levels, but now its not necessary to wait.
4. Coldharbor Questline is the prerequisite for completing the Main Questline.
5. Having completed the Main Questline, accept Cadwell's Silver and Gold to experience the other Alliance questlines.
6. Experience the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Imperial City, and Orsinium DLCs and Craglorn, in whatever order you want.
7. Begin the Daedric Wars plotline with Morrowind -> Clockwork City-> Summerset.

Its entirely possible to have a great and fullfilling questing experience running around doing everything in whatever order you want. Its an Elder Scrolls game in that regard. If, on the other hand, you want to experience the coherent, cohesive, immersive storyline of the Elder Scrolls Online that spans the entire continent for the first time since TES: Arena, following the chronology of the original pre_One Tamriel ESO through the threat of the Planemeld and onto the rising threat of the Daedric Wars is one of the best ways to do so.

I hope you have fun questing through ESO's story arcs!
