Been away from ESO....should I come back?

I've been trying to get myself into this game since launch but I loved Oblivion and Skyrim so much the changes made to take this into MMO territory really put me off....now I'm feeling that I have really missed the boat!

Is it too late to begin my adventure? If not, why? It may seem a stupid thing to ask but I really am conflicted especially as there is so much info and a lot I am going to have to learn.

Some healers like to stay in the light. Nothing much of the unexpected, things tend to be normal for them. At last Sorcerers Healers were born to play with darkness. Expecting the worst and yet ready for the best, Sorcerers healers are those whom resonant with most chaotic situations and teams. To honor such a class here Tasear's collection of Sorc Healer Builds.

Advantages
  • Aftereffect of restoring 4%to 20% of max, stamina, health and magic per synergy used to allies
  • 2 ult to allies per synergy usage (if they have corresponding champion passive)
  • Better Resource Management compare to other healing classes
  • 15 Bar slots instead of 10, as such more buffs then any other class
  • Better usage of Element Blockade compared to other classes
  • 15k - 18k shield for allies via bone shield proc
  • Major vitality (30% more healing received) for 6 secs
  • Increased for damage output for allies over 51% percent
  • Very High uptime for concussion along with off balance
  • Better uptime for off balance and concussion.
  • Increased sustain via arcane well
  • Most reliable Heal in the Game *
  • 10% magicka regain to allies
  • 3% spell critical to allies
  • Minor Breech via posions
  • Crushing and Weakening Monsters

Disadvantages
  • Limited 12 person damage mitigation
  • Most reach undaunted rank 6 to provide resources for allies
  • Two keys needed for bar swapping between three bars
  • Need to keep pet alive and set it to defend in situations

In a time where Dragon Knight's weren't the rarest healer, but Sorcerers were instead this was simply designed to show supportive healer a sorcerer could be. Since then original essence of the build has evolved into becoming many things. Henceforth, there is a division of builds. Presented currently, Pug Proof with design purpose of making random dungeons easy, and Dark Priestess the veteran sorc healer for end game.

Synergizer (Pug Proof) v4.071

This is the Original Sorc healer Build that is designed for pick up groups aka Random Dungeon encounters and proof how supportive the class can be. While using this setup you will be extremely adaptive to any groups, no matter how bad.

Dark Priestess v3.1

While still having it's original supportive favor, this is the end game sorc healer build. This assumes group is above or at reasonable standards for most of hardest content of the game. As such this one I tend to use most of the time.

How to use

Some questions I leave unanswered and @troomar has made a guide for things such a rotations and how to use in veteran trials.

Acknowlegements
  • @troomar for numerous amour/food sets variations, along with fixing issue of sub par health with twilight. Also providing many insights in designs.
  • @flow for helping with optimization of red champion points
  • @Uoullsw (best tank in game) who helped git gud so to speak. I would still be cowering in front of dlc dungeons without your guidance and support.
  • Mk - for tanking with be when sorc weren't even allowed in dungeons and didn't had that great of support skills (no twilight, or healing negate)
  • Thanks to varies Trial teams who know whom I play Mercenary healer aka Pug healer for their veteran or normal trials. It's always quite the experience.
  • Thanks to my Teamates from Rolling Cliffhangers, and Moonlight Travelers who I played Core Healer for a time. I learn so many things.
  • Thanks to all those who remind me, that I still have things to learn and well sometimes I am still a noob. xD (espeically teammates legs, and ghost, )
  • Thanks to Uoullsw for
  • Special Thanks, to teamates to my First vDSA Run - I learned pride of sorc healer
F.A.Q
Why pick Sorc Healer over another class.

Highest concussion and off balance because we got a whole skill line for it. Now mention with greater area of effect so yeah we are more effectoive then you destro staff users.

Only source to give major beserk is with Sorcs.

Best resources passives with all 3 sources of regain, reduction in stamina and Magicka costs, ultimate cost reduction ( cheaper war horns) , 8% Max health. 15% reduction in stamina or magicka skill after blocking. Did I almost forget dark exchange? Can trade Stamina for Magicka

We are only class who can negate enemy place effects (aoes, snares, Nova's, etc)

In regards to buffs overlord sorc healers ( 3 bars) are best at it next warden guys. We can obtain nearly every buff in game for allies.

We can snare, stun, cage eniemies.

Not mention we dps things well too.

Do pets die?

- Only place there's is some issues is vet Falkreath as lovely AI has it standing in ring of fire and no longer has major protection while standing in stupid. Don't happen always, but it really does happen. Otherwise it's highly unlikely to die. Somtimes it even holds arrgo while you rez everyone else who is dead.

Aren't Templar the best or better healer?

Better and best are such funny words it can all depend on the situation and group. But after heated debate, sorc can be proven to have skills to be most adaptive or say flexible healers . Numbers wise they will start off Superior before Warden and Templar passives obtain passives. Then it all depends on setup, procing of passives. Though mind you it's all close call between the three.

Why no arena staff

At the time when I first made a sorc build, I hadn't had access to it. Then when I did have them it didn't seem to fit. Arena staves are all about giving resources to allies, and I think build does it innately. This also leaves room to attempt things that involve complete monster helms such as earthgore (negates) and sentinel (gives 4kish stamina ), or other support sets.

Can you compete End game content with this?

Yes, from hardest dungeons to veteran trials it comes down to skill for healers

Isn't it hard to use three bars instead of two?

Most definitely, especially when I was first started off with this build. I was often second guessing myself. After a while, though it did become instinct, and it was a lot of fun. Though, there's a few things though I did to make it better. As of Dragon Bones patch with outfit stations along with transmog of a sorts, I made overlord staff white, so it's easier to notice in dungeons. This avoided accidental usages of ultimate from other bar.. This was previously done via Enchantment color, but MOL weapons all shine with a blue glow after dragon bones. In the same regards, I made sure staff style was bigger then other bar's. The styles ended up using were order of hour on resto bar, and Ebonshadow with destro and overlord bar. (note: these styles look like a bat and bird respectively). Some other things to try is setting ultimate bar to a different key such one close to ultimate button or using a simple gaming mouse with one or two buttons on side.

Let's talk about the MMR...

$
0
0
TL:DR
MMR doesn't segregate premades from solo queuers, it just inflates the MMRS of the people in the premade because they're in a premade. MMR is based on the average of the group. The longer you're in queue for, the greater the gap can be between opponents' MMRs for a given match. This sucks for high MMR solo queuers because they get matched up against premades who have usually been waiting so long that the MMR system has essentially subtracted their premade bonus to find them a match due to how long they've sat in queue. The MMR system keeps allowing lower and lower MMR solo queuers to fight them, but it's tiered.. so it'll start the match with three, and won't add a fourth solo queuer to fight the premades until more time passes to subtract even more from the MMR of the premades.

So Let's talk about the MMR...

I'm going to separate the points I'd like to make into either "Facts" or "Working Hypotheses" based on whether I'm certain about a given piece of information, or am just hypothesizing based on the data I've collected.

FACTS

Is the MMR actually a thing?
Yes. And it always has been. Anyone that's every tried to synchronize queues to get into specific matches can tell you that it wasn't simply a matter of "who queued first." But now it's different...

What is MMR?
MMR stands for Match Making Rating (or Ranking depending on who you ask). It's a way to rate opponents so that players of a similar skill level can get matched together for a better, more even match. Think of it kind of like the weight classes for UFC or Boxing... it wouldn't be very fair to match a 140lbs guy against a 220lbs guy, so make sure the fights are fair, the fight organizers tend to make sure boxers fight people with a similar weight (I.E. the same "weight class".) But every once in a while, a fighter will fight someone in a weight class different than their own...

So if the MMR already existed, what did they change with Summerset?
To quote the patch notes: "Battleground match making now adds an additional multiplier to the value of players who are grouped. This value scales differently between 2, 3, and 4 player groups.... Pre-formed groups will generally be pitted against pre-formed groups, and solo players will generally be pitted against other solo players."

But wait... Are they or aren't they separating the premades from the solo queues?
Technically, NO, they are not separating the premades from the solo queues. What they ARE doing is increasing the MMR of the premades solely because they're premades. The more people in the "premade" group, the higher the increase to MMR for matchmaking purposes. So to use the boxing "weight class" metaphor... if you weigh 170 normally, but you queue as a duo, the system might consider you as actually weighing 180. If you queue as a trio, it might consider you as someone who weights 190, and if you queue as a four man, it might consider you as someone who weighs 200. In other words, it adds +10 each for a duo, +20 each for a trio, and +30 each for a four man

Tested Hypotheses:

So if you're in a four man group with four different individual MMRs, which MMR is used for the group?
The MMR for the group is the average of the individual characters, after adjusting them for the size of the premade. To explain using the boxing "weight class" metaphor again, if you have a 150 lbs, a 160 lbs, a 170 lbs, and a 190 lbs fighter queuing together, we'd add 30 lbs to each since they're queueing as a premade four man... that gives us 180, 190, 200, and 210. Then we would take the average of that, which is 195. That 195 is the MMR.. or the "weight class" that the premade would have to fight in. I am 99.999% sure that it's the average of the group, and I am 99.999% sure that it's character based rather than account based.

What is MMR based off of?
This is the thing we're the least certain of at this moment. I strongly suspect that it's based off of an aggregate of your medal scores.... in essence, the sum of all your leaderboard scores. I believe this because players with both a high win rate and a low win rate seem to have high MMRs if they've played a lot of games...Similarly, players with high K/D ratios but also players with low k/d ratios tend to have high MMRs if they've played a lot of games... but my MAIN reason for thinking this is the case is because we already know that this is the system ZOS uses for the "Leaderboards" so we already know that they're tracking it.. and it would make sense for the "leaderboard" metrics (cumulative medal score in all games) to also determine MMR.... the difference between the "Leaderboards" and the MMR system is that the Leaderboards reset each week but the MMR doesn't... we know that players who used to play a ton of games but haven't played one in a month or two will still have really high MMRs. This theory also means that your MMR can't go down.... since you can never "lose" leaderboard points by performing poorly... so if someone does have their MMR go down, this theory will be disproven.

So what happens if there's nobody at your MMR level to fight?
Here's where things get interesting. Let's use the example above of a four man with an MMR of 195... they queue up, but there is no other premade out there with an MMR that high.. so they wait. It appears that the battleground group finder will be more flexible with your MMR the longer you're in queue. For instance, if this premade with MMR of 195 queues up immediately, the system will only look for groups or players with an MMR of between 190-200. Then, after five minutes, if it can't find anyone in that "weight class" it widens the range by looking for matches with an MMR of between 180 and 210. Then after another five minutes, it widens it again, looking for opponents with an MMR of between 170 and 220. Then another five minutes, it widens again for opponents between 160 and 230, etc.... Do I know how often it widens the range? no, but i do strongly suspect it's on either 5 minute or 10 minute intervals.

So if I solo queue, how come I keep fighting premades?
Sounds like you've got a high MMR! The longer you spend queued, the more likely you are to fight "outside" of your weight class (MMR level).

How come when three premades all queue up at the same time, they have to wait 20 minutes to fight each other, even if all have been waiting for twenty minutes?
This is something that drives me insane but it is a distinct phenomenon of the new matchmaking system that didn't exist before. Let's say that two of the premades are full of people playing their BG mains... but one premade has a few alts in it, or maybe some veteran PvPers that just didn't do BGs until now. While all three premades are going to get the "premade bonus" to MMR, the MMR is character based... so the group finder would consider it an uneven match due to the low MMR of the team that's playing alts and new characters. Let's say that the average MMR of team A is 200, team B is 210, and team C is 160. Then let's add the premade bonus of 30 onto that and we get an MMR of 230 for A, 240 for B, and 190 for C... A and B will get matched together and considered "acceptable" after approx five minutes in the queue... but they'll have to stay queued for a while before the group finder will consider team C as eligible to fight in their weight class... so they wait...

How do high MMR solo queuers fit into all this?
Let's use the example in the previous question but add a twist... So:
  • Team A has an MMR of 200(base)+30(premade)=230,
  • Team B has an MMR of 210(base)+30(premade)=240
  • Team C has an MMR of 160(base)+30(premade)=190

But then let's say that there are a few solo queuers with a really high MMR. Let's say that
  • Solo queuer 1 has an MMR of 210(base)+0(solo)=210
  • Solo queuer 2 has an MMR of 210(base)+0(solo)=200
  • Solo queuer 3 has an MMR of 200(base)+0(solo)=200
  • Solo queuer 4 has an MMR of 180(base)+0(solo)=180

So what happens? Team A and B get "matched up" almost immediately because their MMR is so similar... but then there's nobody else in that weight class for them to fight. After 5 minutes, they're eligible to fight teams with an MMR of 220. After 10 minutes they're eligible to fight teams with an MMR of 210, after 15 minutes they're eligible to fight teams with an MMR of 200, and after twenty minutes they're eli...

..hey wait a second?! Queue pop after just 15 minutes! Teams A and B just entered into a match against... a pug group comprised of solo queuers 1, 2, and 3?!? How is this possible? It's because the BG system only needs 3 players on a team for the match to start.

So solo queuer 4 with an MMR of 180 gets added in immediately, right? NOPE! The BG queue finder keeps doing what it's doing. Where were we? Oh yes..

After twenty minutes (or five minutes into the match), the match is eligible to have MMRs of 190 join. Team C was a premade with an MMR of 190... but there are four of them and we can't fit four players into just one slot... So team C is out of luck, and the match maker continues lowering the MMR requirements for eligible players. After another five minutes (ten minutes into the match), MMRs of 180 become eligible, and solo queuer 4 (who has an MMR of 180) gets added onto the 3 man team consisting of solo queuers 1, 2, and 3... who, by the way, have been trying to fight as a pug 3 man against two full premades for the last ten minutes. Super fun for them.

And what happens to Team C, that never got into that match? Well they wait another 5 minutes or so and then fight two full groups of pug Solo queuers with MMR averages of around 130. Because their minimum MMR threshold for suitable opponents has been going down this whole time too, and they started off at 190...

Well, that kind of makes sense.. but why is it a problem?
It's a problem because if you're a high MMR solo queuer, you're almost always going to be the pug in a fight against premades. Solo queueing with a high MMR is, based on the current population trends, almost a guaranteed way to get stuck against premades. Why? Because the lower MMR solo queuers are matching up against each other so fast that their BG queue finder doesn't need to look for players in a higher weight class. They are getting into matches so quickly that the "allowed MMR range" of that match never gets high enough to grab the high MMR solo queuer. But meanwhile, on the other side of the spectrum, the high MMR premades have been waiting for 20 minutes. After a 20 minute wait, the "bonus" to their MMR that they get for being a premade is essentially nullified by the BG queue finder's willingness to allow them to fight in different, lower weight classes. So the high MMR solo queuer, being the closest thing to the time-lowered MMR of the premades who have been waiting, gets gobbled up to fight the premade before that solo queuer can wait long enough to allow their own MMR to get low enough to fight in the medium/low MMR solo queue matches.

And this is really frustrating because it is making BGs miserable for every solo queuer who has played a ton of BGs... In other words, it takes the people who love the BGs the most and makes them wait or gives them the worst matches.

Is there a silver lining?
Yes. High MMR premades tend to fight against High MMR premades when they are in queues together. This is a good thing if there are three High MMR premades all queueing around the same time. And if there are going to be solo players fighting the high MMR premades, it makes sense to take the "best" (let's not discuss the correlation or lack thereof between being High MMR and being good) solo players and put them in the match. It just really sucks to be a solo player who is always getting put in those matches...

(Kudos to anyone who loves BGs enough to read this whole thing... it turned out a lot longer than I planned lol)

All Radiant Apex Rewards plus Sweet Roll

A quick post for all those collectors out there about the new unique Psijic Vault Crate Rewards. It took me several hundreds of Euro to get all the mounts :# , although my only goal was to get that purple horse I saw on the home page, it was ofc a radiant apex reward i could not buy -.- and I got it as the last item unlocking every single other crown reward from the crates first. But yeah I am still glad I managed to get it since it's very rare, the apex rewards look all beautiful in my opinion. The apex horse looking best in regards of the spectral animations flying around it. From the three radiant apex rewards I would say the most impressive is the ice wolf, but my favourite is the horse because it fits the colour of my class (sorcerer).

Enough of my opinion, here are some stats/facts: First I got the apex guar, last one was the apex tiger. Regarding the radiant apex first was the wolf, last one was the horse. I got multiple apex reward duplicates. I never got a duplicate regarding the radiant apex. I also got one Sweet Roll (no duplicates). The sweetroll is worth 400 gems if you refund it and is used as a special building item, taking the same place as a mount would. It also has a toggle with a golden shine. I was really surprised when I first got it :) it is a nice easteregg

Furthermore some pictures for you, so you can decide wheter it is worth for you going through this lottery. I wish you all the best of luck in getting your desired items!

Being Loyal VS causing commotion on other side.

Sure I'm not loyal, I keep trying tell Reds in Shor PS4 EU. I warned many times in advance, I'll most likely switch. One day early and or after campaign reset (today ends) I uphold my promise. I went blue 1 day early. Mainly due to my friendship is waning on one blue. Now even more so, after I caused "* cupid" (*different word) commotion. I was in this group, one was my friends. I was blue earlier and literally was byself. At same time I won't be blue for long, unsure when I leave. Probably way sooner than planned. But I just also want visit and encourage blues to not give up. I wanted to teach em, blues the ways that I've learned best. Meaning I used to fight for balance (2 1/2 yrs in 1st and 2nd Scourge) but not anymore. Just visiting only and try fix friend situation. As well as trying to encourage and not lose hope.

My friend he says he won't unbefriend me something tells me he will in future. Not sure when, but could've be today for that matter. He and I we go far back since middle of 2nd Scourge. I've lost so many friends in ESO to many to count. I just not want loose anymore. It's always my fault, I do blame myself. But like I've said, I also want help and do my best to teach blues how to not give up. Teach em, on how to be good team. Least that was my hope and dream. When I'm temporarily stay on blue in Shor. I will go back red eventually and or sooner than planned. Just depends how much commotion I've made. Meaning, I've upset these blues in my friend group. I unsure what I did wrong. I was only trying start a conversation after I disagree with blue comment about red. I not like it, but I kept my cool.

Yet when I wrote after the blue comment. I told em, wanted share my story on what happened on red. I have this fan, she keep saying she loves me. But yet somehow this caused a huge big commotion? Sure it's my fault. I didn't realize everyone was so die hard loyal for there alliance. Yet if they where die hard loyal for there alliance in group (my friend included) why did they accepted me? Yet they got mad, like really (not kicked me out group, I left and watch Netflix) I keep being told to go back reds. Because they assume I want go back reds. Many times I said no I want stay. But things kinda went south east. I keep saying I want leave on my own terms. I keep saying I don't want go back red right now. Because I feel I'll loose him in general. Plus all the previous message he leaves calling me noob when us zero reds destroy everything. It's just friend ship is not going well. I know signs of it. Since my bio childhood, all the warnings... It's why and how I know my friendship is very unhealthy.

I feel as well I'll loose him eventually. At same time I see now why I should of stayed one alliance only. Yet how can I be one alliance if nothing to do that's already been taken? Yet same time that one ad in my other previous post in thread. I agree with that yellow. "my beloved reds" reds are beloved to me. The people over there treat me with great respect and I'm so happy to be red in Shor. I'm proud to be red. Not loyal though, but still I'm red. Yet if fighting for balance like I used to do, caused me a lot of trouble. (I'm not fighting for balance on blue, just want teach them and to help aid. Not give up.

I know they can win some, with or without me) At same time highly good chance I'll loose a friend. Especially now after incident. Now he thinks I was spying. I keep trying tell him (blue) reds are in high alert, since I rode all way from DC gate to kc with my slow mount. I took all of kc outer wall down. But didn't get any ap from me killed, save for the wall. I then rode to drakelow, flared drakelow wall, unfortunately ran out of siege so killed my self red resource. But does it look like I'm spying? So should I be loyal. If so how do I have fun? Or continue to teach DC how to do things and not give up. Then I'll switch back EP, or leave to EP sooner due to me loosing blue friend (good chance)

Are they good, and how much more difficult than a magsorc ?

It's the only other class that appeals to me tbh

Fixing it next update isn't good enough! (Sload's)

I'm sorry but pvp has become unplayable for me atm. Sload's semblance is making outnumbered fights impossible on nightblades. It is not only a ridiculous damage crutch but is also a complete hardcounter to medium armour stamblades (and to shielding classes, to an extent).

So many mediocre players are able to perform at a top tier level against builds that are especially susceptible to sload's. I am really inclined to call out some of these clowns. On EU there's organised groups all running sload's and tbagging/whispering for kiting them. 3 or more sload's on my recap from different people has become commonplace.

Sload's along with perpetual lag in Vivec has made me quit PvP. If at least one of these issues is not resolved within a couple weeks, I don't think I'll return at all. I certainly won't wait for the next large update to go live.

Sorry for the rant, anyone who's been playing in Cyrodiil will be able to understand my vexation.

MagDK still continues to be strong AF, my funnest 1vX build by far! Bleeds and Sloads get annoying real quick, those promised nerfs can't arrive quick enough. Honestly think the Battle Roar change a while ago was the best thing to happen to no-cp PvP MagDK, such a balanced class in terms of resource usage. Clips from Summerset and whatever the last patch was called. Enjoy!

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN PVP?!

So is PvP on console (Xbox ONE) this unplayable? I mean, I want to play online...but its seems no matte what I do, I will always freeze and cannot play.
Is this the penalty for not playing the game on PC? Or are the servers just that bad?

Blazing Shield (Bubble) Builds - Do you want this to be a viable playstyle again?

Since those huge nerfs awhile ago the “Bubble Build” playstyle entirely died out.
Do you want Bubble Builds to be viable again and have a presence in PvP like they used to?
