A word on hybrids after summerset, for BG and Cyrodil

Hey Lads,
i know people have been talking about hybrids quite a lot, yet it was mostly about pve and not reaching 30k+ dps etc etc....something which isn't really a point in PVP.
I can't get rid of the idea having a Sorc or a Templar running with Bow and Resto stuff using the best of both worlds stamina/magicka morphs.
Then again....i don't really know why i'm thinking that or why i want that.

Having access to magicka based heals, mutagen AND vigor seems pretty powerful to me on its own.

Few questions now after all:

- Would a hybrid build without pelinals work? as in one pure stamina set one pure magicka set?
- For PVP Only, bg's, Cyrodil...do you think a hybrid is viable? (with viable i don't mean king of the hill but can kill people and survive a bit)
- which sets would you use if pelinals is a must? Shacklebreaker? something more specific?
- whats the best class to try a hybrid pvp approach in your eyes? Warden? Sorc?

With tomorrows patch, 6 weeks of constant freezing in Cyrodiil, possibly, comes to a close. Maybe there were some good very early or late NA hours when things were running smoothly, but for the most part it's been 6 weeks of almost every PvPer muttering into the mic "And I froze...(sigh)...be right back" or probably much worse things that I can't write here.

How hopeful are you that we'll get back to our regular occasional game crashing that I, for one, have missed so much? I miss lag...I miss being able to stay online long enough to experience lag. I had a few old fashioned disconnects where the sound starts stuttering like Max Headroom on speed, and they were a breath of fresh air each time.

I don't intend on rping with this backstory, as I admit I know its OP and reeks of mary sue but damn it I love to daydream about it.

Before I post mine I'm interested in yours? What backstories do you guys have that seems a bit too much like a main character from a book

Mine starts off with the Welkynar knights of past times fighting the sea elves over the ocean in the middle of a storm. Feathers meet scales as the two fight over whirling waves....
Ones of the knights however meets a spot of bad luck in the form of a lightening bolt. Striking her griffin and causing the two to plummet into the sea.
She wakes up on the coast of auridon, her griffin missing.... Beside her is some food prepared... and an unexpected guest

Long story short she was rescued by nonother than a sea elf, one who thought drowning was a death unworthy of a griffin rider. And while he fought willingly, he believed that there should be respect for both sides. His orginal goal was to put her on shore and leave her food btu she woke up before he could fully leave.

Im sparing the inbetween bits but long story short they fall in love and have a kid who is my main
Cliche? Yep. But like I said its meant for my daydreams.

Allowing trading of crowns for gold.

I have heard several people say that is not "P2W", because crown items are only cosmetic.

However, this is neglecting to look at the other side of the transaction.

People who can open their IRL wallets and offer crown items for sale, are now able to afford anything they like - vet trial carries, guild kiosks, any boe gear they want, carries in dungeons with dungeon gear being exchanged for the limitless amount of gold now available to the IRL wealthy in the game - there are now many multi-billionaires in game, simply due to this one thing.

And it is destroying the economy, and destroying trading.

I wonder whether this thread will be allowed to stay up, but I would like to hear any comments.

My friends and I have started up a guild... It's very laid back, fun, guild with regular players.
At the moment we are all still fairly low levels and just questing and exploring the game, crafting goods etc. We have yet to find our place in the game... Although pretty sure my soul purpose is to craft!
We are hoping for a tight knit, sociable guild that will help each other out, we do need more people for dungeon runs.

We've not really tried the PVP yet but will do at some point.

We are all adults somewhere in the region of 30ish, we are all UK based.
Your class doesn't matter, your skill level doesn't matter, what gear you use doesn't matter... our aim is to enjoy the game!

More transparency about dmg in dungeon?

We all know combat metric exist. But as a trial tank player who legit do no dmg. Combat metric only tell me the group dps, and my own dps which is like 2k. I would really appreciate more transparency, i’d like to see dmg % of everyone, including the healer, with rolling windows of a minute or something like it. I don’t think this would be a lot of work for the devs. What you guys think?

Detailed Features

Group Ultimate

All ultimates are grouped in "UltimateGroups", for example all negates are found in the "Negate" UltimateGroup. You can choose your "UltimateGroup" you want to share and can configurate in the Swimlane styles which "UltimateGroup" you want to see. See screenshots for further informations. The addon use the trick to share map pings via group members to share the informations, like other addons already did (f.e. Group DPS)

Group Leader

The addon provides a group leader functionality like Papa Crown and a light version of exterminatusGroupLeader. You can choose an icon you want and change the icon size. The Leader Arrow (exterminatusGroupLeader) is showing the direction to the leader and is configurable in several ways like color/min/max distance and so on.

Group Invite

The addon integrates a seamless automatic "Group Invite" feature in Group Frame. You can also start a group invite via slash command "/gi" like the good old "Group Invite". You can configure an AutoKick Timeout and set your wished group size. If the group size is reached, the addon will stop inviting. If the group size drops below the limit, the addon will invite again.

Group Stats

The addon shares the "damage done" and "healing done" from your group members. You can see the values in two simple lists, like the Group Ultimate Simple-List. You can activate both lists or choose only one list you want to see.

Group Resources

This is an extension of the Group Ultimate UI. You can see the live resources (Stamina and Magicka) of all group members (0-100%). You can activate or deactivate the Group Resources in options and change the color of the bars for better visibility.

Group Buffs

This is an extension of the Group Ultimate UI and Group Frames. If activated, you can get informations about procced sets or specific buffs in your group. Like Earthgore set proc or Spell Power Cure set buffs. You can choose which buff you want to see in 4 different Buff-Trackers.

Elder Scrolls Online's business model sucks compared to Guild Wars 2 (the competition)

So I recently went back to revisit Guild Wars 2 first time since the base game launched and I was blown away by how much ArenaNet delivers. Just to be clear there are other criticisms and comparisons against Elder Scrolls Online when compared to Guild Wars 2, particularly performance and weight of combat but this thread is strictly about the business model.

First and foremost, living story. Path of Fire released September of last year. Every three months, they introduce a living story update which I think the name is a bit misleading because they're basically DLC-sized quarterly updates and as long as you log in and you bought Path of Fire, you get it for free. These updates contain new maps, new cinematic quest lines and even new mechanics. Most recently, the roller beetle (part of a series of the best feeling mounts I've ever seen in an MMO). This means as long as you bought Path of Fire for $30, you get ALL the content until the next expansion comes out 2-3 years later and it also means the expansions are fleshed out more and more. This is something I wish we got out of chapters like Morrowind and Summerset which feel like they're abandoned outside of bug fixes since they're already onto the next thing to sell to us.

Buy2Play Elder Scrolls Online's base game is behind a paywall. Guild Wars 2's is not and this gets really interesting because as long as you're playing within the three months that the latest living story episode (DLC) released in, you get access to it when you eventually do buy Path of Fire. It's one hell of a free trial and it's a pretty generous system.


Crafting bag. This is the most frustrating to me because I'm a player that has spent hundreds of dollars on the chapters and the DLCs outright and as I buy them, I devalue the ESO+ membership yet I'm expecting to pay the same as everyone else. It's definitely the way it's meant to be played as a crafter and if you don't buy into the membership, the game is incredibly inconvenient to play. Guild Wars 2? Material depositing is a feature straight out of the base game. I have very little reason to pay for ESO+ outside of the crafting bag so I got the chests for my house (11000 crowns) so I could have enough storage to keep one of every material in my crafting bag and have room for storing whatever loot and equipment I don't keep on me. Shouldn't have to do that. More on that later.

Costume dying? Free for everyone.

ESO+ is actively devalued as a player that buys the chapters and DLCs outright. If you're the kind of player I am that has spent hundreds of dollars on content, there's very little reason to pay for ESO+ besides the crafting bag which is ridiculous. Guild Wars 2 has no equivalent and they manage to be as successful as they are without paid quarterly expansions? They're doing something right.

So just to break it down, Guild Wars 2 is releasing an expansion once every two-three years, the content released in the meantime is free and substantial. Updates flesh out existing areas and mechanics, the base game is entirely free and the living story entitlement system accounts for your time playing only the base game in a generous way, the crafting and material gathering experience is optimal by default, outfits and gear is dyeable for everyone, there is no "optional" membership (putting that in quotes because this game is constantly a struggle to play without ESO+ if you're picking materials up, also the ESO+ membership giving double transmutation crystals is BS).

Meanwhile in Elder Scrolls Online I feel like I'm in that scene in Goodfellas but it's Zenimax Online Studios saying **** you, pay me.


As I said, there are other valid criticisms but the business model is particularly egregious. It's not even remotely competitive to their primary competitor and it deserves to be called out. Among friends I've referred to the game over the years, every single one of them has quit. If it wasn't performance or a lack of weight behind combat making them leave, it was the business model.

I have made several vampires throughout my years of playing ESO. However, I have missed this the whole time. I get the change in the skin and the color of the eyes, but why does the shape of the cornea change from the full elven to the smaller human? Is there a lore reason, or is this just an oversight by the devs?

A home in Cyrodiil

An idea that came to mind would be if we could have a home within Cyrodiil. Nothing too fancy, but maybe a medium sized home, or perhaps a small manor and courtyard like Amaya lake lodge which you can purchase within Vvardenfell?

A location I have in mind would be in a large open area with a few trees here and there. Maybe something like this :)

Very open, nice Sunrise, and a nice plot of land to live by IMO.

I don't know about anyone else, but I love how open Cyrodiil is.. minus the horse simulator that comes with it of course :p

Although a problem would be is how you would be able to enter and leave safely without getting ganked or zerged at some point. An idea I have would be that this place could come with maybe a carriage that could take you to and from your home within the instance. The carriage could be located inside one of the faction gates for each alliance. Or somewhere else if any of you guys have any ideas :)

Jewelry Crafting: Get ready for the worst grind in ESO's history

Most players who regularly participate in the PTS or otherwise follow the PTS closely already know what will be in store for them when the Summerset update introduces jewelry crafting, but I suspect that most of the player base are not yet aware of some of the details of the system.

Specifically, the amount of materials needed to upgrade jewelry quality is 10x more than what is needed for the other crafts.

Similar to the other crafts, it takes 2 green plates, 3 blue plates, 4 purple plates, and 8 golden plates to upgrade jewelry if you have maxed the improvement passives. The problem is that whereas you acquire full pieces of upgrade materials for the other crafts, the upgrade materials for jewelry come in the form of grains, which represent 1/10th of a plate. And, most crucially, based on testing that people have done on the PTS, these grains drop at the same rate as the full upgrade materials of the other crafts.

For example, when you deconstruct a purple-quality staff with maxed deconstruction passives, you have a 50% chance of getting a single Mastic from the deconstruction. When you deconstruct a purple-quality ring with the necessary deconstruction passives, you have the same 50% chance of getting a single grain of a purple jewelry upgrade material. Each time you refine raw wood, you have a 7.5% chance to acquire a single Mastic--a full purple upgrade mat. Each time you refine raw jewelry mats, you have the same 7.5% chance to acquire a single grain of a purple jewelry upgrade material.

Effectively, the amount of materials needed to upgrade is 10x more than that of the other crafts, since the upgrade materials are acquired as 1/10th grains from all sources (refinement, deconstruction, and writ rewards; there are no hirelings), at rates that are apparently identical to that of full upgrade mats of other crafts.

What does this mean? It means that to craft a single purple-quality Julianos ring, you will need 20 green grains, 30 blue grains, and 40 purple grains. Purple mats--grains for jewelry and full upgrade mats for the other crafts--drop at a 7.5% rate per refinement. To acquire 40 grains, you will need to refine 533 times; you will need to acquire and refine approximately 5300 raw jewelry mats just to craft a single purple ring.

Let's say purple is too rich for your blood. You just want to craft a simple blue-quality Julianos ring. That's 30 blue grains, which, at a drop rate of 12.5% per refinement, is 240 refinements. You need to acquire and refine 2400 raw jewelry mats to craft a single blue Julianos ring.

What if you're leveling a character, and instead of wearing random dropped jewelry as you do now, you want to craft a matching set of jewelry? Since it's just a character that's being leveled, you're not too picky and will be happy with simple green quality. 20 grains at a 15% drop rate means 133 refinements. You need to acquire and refine 6-7 stacks of raw jewelry mats just to upgrade a single ring to green quality.

Still excited about jewelry crafting?

I have friends who were excited about all the golden jewelry from vet trials that they can decon for mats next patch. Similar to other crafts, with maxed passives, you have only a 50% chance of getting an upgrade mat from decon. Except here, it's just a grain. To acquire the 80 grains needed to upgrade a single purple ring to gold, you'll need an average of 160 gold rings to decon. Think about that for a moment. You need to decon 160 golden jewelry pieces... to upgrade a single jewelry piece. That's 80 runs of vAA HM to get the mats for golding one jewelry piece via decon. I don't know about you, but I'll probably go crazy before the 20th run.

Or, if you're crazy enough to seek golden quality through refinement, you're looking at 1600 refinements: 16K, or 80 full stacks, of raw jewelry mats. For a single jewelry piece.

Oh, and did I mention that there are no hirelings? I did, but let's reiterate that.

How's that excitement for jewelry crafting now?

There is an easy solution, though: increase the drop rate of grains. They currently drop at the same rate as full upgrade mats of other crafts. (50% per decon, 15% green per refinement, 12.5% blue per refinement, 7.5% purple per refinement, and 5% gold per refinement.) If, for example, deconstruction always guaranteed at least 1 grain, with the chance of sometimes getting multiple grains, the drop rate would still be substantially lower than that of the other crafts, but not quite as insane as it currently is on the PTS. As it stands, jewelry crafting isn't fun. It isn't accessible. And I don't see myself seriously using it any time this year.
