Am I the only one who dislikes NEEDING sets?

$
0
0
I've played a lot of MMO's and as much as I like ESO, I really wish they would get away from the whole set idea. In other games sets are rare and unique and are special. Here every set is pretty easy to get and the crafted ones are super easy to get.

Don't people hate knowing you are wearing exactly the same thing as everyone else? Want to make a Tank? Get Ebon/Alkosh. Want a Stamblade? Get Hundings/Spriggans. yes I know you can make a lot of different sets work but that's not the point. We are still stuck with the same pieces.

I really wish the set bonuses were gone so we could look for individual pieces. Have that special ring that is awesome? Save it and use it. That sword with the cool proc? use it.

We can't since it would break the set.

Why Grim Focus and Morphs Feel Different

$

Credit to deevah for figuring this out.

For whatever reason, ZOS made it so that light attack stacks from Grim Focus now register when light attacks hit the target, rather than when they are cast by your character.

This makes it so that with something like dual wield the skill still feels like it did last patch because light attacks still register instantly. It's also the reason why using a bow or a staff it feels like the skill is lagging behind, because your light attacks do not register immediately.

Hopefully we can revert back to the way it was last patch.

Something is wrong with Off Balance resource return

$

I went to do some dummy tests today to play around with the new Off Balance changes. I was mostly interested in what the uptime looks like now and how much damage is lost due to it, but I was also interested in the newly added sustain to heavy attacks during Off Balance. That's where I noticed something strange.

JJWLdU1.png

The above picture shows what it looks like in a controlled test environment. I used my Asylum staff with crushing shock to apply concussion, then placed lightning blockade to proc Off Balance and finally did the heavy attack to check resource return. There are two important lines in this picture. The line where it shows I gain 8280 magicka return as result of my lightning staff heavy attack, and the event where the target skeleton loses the Off Balance debuff as this indicates the target skeleton actually had the debuff while casting the heavy attack. As you can see, everything is working intended thusfar. Quite a nice boost of sustain, I thought!

However, now it gets strange.

mJASIkS.png

This is what it looks like when I'm doing an actual proper rotation, keeping up my DoTs, spamming my filler and weaving in between. Now when looking for the same two lines, you will notice I only gained 4140 magicka from my heavy attack while Off Balance was active. Rather strange.

Now I did multiple controlled tests and multiple proper parses. The result is always the same. I can always get the intended resource return when doing a controlled test, and I never get it while I'm doing my proper rotation. But I have no idea why. I can't figure out what exactly might be causing this, so I was hoping someone else could provide some insight. Perhaps it's something limited to the target skeleton?

Known Conflicting Addons (Dragon Bones)

There are a few conflicting addons that may cause errors. Feel free to post any you find below. If an addon has an update, definitely try that out - the author may have tested it and made changes when on PTS. If it's not updated, just turn it off for now and give the author some time.

Bunch of these have been fixed already, so update to the latest version! Keep in mind, confirmed fixed means you need to update to the latest version for the fix!

ItemPreview (Furniture+Armor) - when using alt to leave window/conversation, locks everything up. (Link) (received an update so I'm assuming fixed)
ESO master recipe list (Link)
CLS Updates gives error if xp notifications are on
No Thank You (Workaround) (Appears to be fixed, for me at least)
Dyer and Dye Station Achievement Links (Link)
PimpMyRide (not working)
Idle Animations will make guild stores unable to be opened unless you turn OFF the "prevent rotating camera" option
Dressing room (showing wrong skills, not sure if it's just a graphical error or if it really attempts to put wrong skills on your bar - reports below that latest update works SO UPDATE!) (Link) (You may need to manually updated some skills that went wonky) (confirmed fixed)
LUI (confirmed fixed)
Crafting Preview - will make outfit station ui unusable. (Link) (confirmed fixed)
Greymind Quickslot Bar (if a collectible is slotted) (confirmed fixed)
Lorebooks (confirmed fixed)

Does it count as DoT or direct damage? Magicka DK Abilities

$

Hey guys,

I am not sure about 3 abilities:
- Flames of oblivion: DoT damage or direct damage? I guess DoT?
- Exhale of Draw Essence: DoT or direct damage? I guess direct damage?
- Fossilize: DoT or direct Damage? I guess direct damage?

Would be awesome if someone could clarify this - maybe even with some test results. I think this also helps other players.
And I am not too lazy to test on my own, I just don't have the time at the moment.

Thanks

Extremely dangerous housing storage bug still exists! Don't delete your characters!

$

Well, I'm quite confused, ZOS. You let this issue go on live servers, and you didn't even aware people about it.

1. I've got a housing storage chest, placed it in my house, deposited 1 bound item (crafter's survey scroll).
2. Logged out.
3. Logged in on my 3 lvl character, teleported to that house and deposited 1 bound armour piece in the storage chest.
4. Logged out.
5. Deleted this 3 lvl character.
6. Logged in on my previous character (who deposited crafter's survey), opened the storage chest and... It's empty! Completely empty!

Because the game deletes all bound items from these chests when you delete a character!!! It deletes not just this character's items, but all bound items in the chest.

Moreover:

1. Deposited 1 bound crafter's survey in the chest, logged out.
2. Created new character, logged in, teleported to the house, logged out.
3. Deleted this new character. - Item's lost.

So, even if you didn't touch the chest, bound items in the chest will be lost anyway.

Be careful, guys.

Sadly, I've got a character deletion cooldown, so I can't try out one more scenario. I was going to test the following:
1. Deposit bound item, log out.
2. Create new character, log in, log out (not going to the house).
3. Delete this new character.
Maybe someone else could do this?

stamina templar or stamina warden

Hi,

Having a hard time deciding which build I would like to do.

The primary role in PVE is going to be a tank, however I would still like to use the build in PVP. I want it to have good damage in PVP and to be able to mix it up in PVE with different armor as a tank.

I personally like the Templar class in general better than the warden but i feel it is more suited to fufill my needs.

Imperials are my favorite race and I will be using that on either of the builds.

I am currently running a DK stam tank and ive gotten bored of it and i personally don't find it that good in PVP. I have a lot of experience as a tank, been playing it as my main role since 2014 so I am not afraid to play something that is not as good as a tank, just something that will be stronger in PVP.

Let me know your opinions or suggestions.

Thanks!

The Fundamentals of a Game

$

When it comes down to it, the only real ting that defines a game is its gameplay. What is the game like to play? How does it challenge/entertain you? What do you experience?
Lots of other aspects (Graphics, sound) can help shape a game, but at its core the gameplay is what matters the most to the games success.

This is why I struggle so hard to understand why Zenimax does not care for the fundamentals of their own game. They neglect the gameplay. Gameplay comes second to a new cosmetic, a new zone or some charming NPCs. Pushing out unfinished content that further damages gameplay is more important then fixing key gameplay issues such as bugs and lag.

The only reason I can think is that they want to chase the short term dollar. They want to bleed as much money as they can from a "Elder Scrolls" title before its a dried up husk. But even this argument makes no sense. ESO is special, its a very unique MMO with very unique gameplay. If they focused on the fundamentals they wouldn't loose new players after a couple months. Old veteran players would come back, due to leaving over terrible gameplay flaws in the past. And importantly, ESO would shed its terrible reputation as a buggy mess.

Hide Helmet

I can't hide my helmet anymore. Some helmets are ugly I don't want them on my face. Stormfist is fine because it looks like a baby hung from an umbilical cord. Skoria is ugly. I don't want to run around with a fire face. What is this hide polymprph helmet? Do I have to polymorph every single helmet I own into itself in order to hide it? I want to see my characters head I created at character creation not fire face ugly.

Is my best option right now to simply not wear a helmet? And what is the rationale behind removing hide helmet? It's been there forever.

Or do I have to create a one slot costume with a helmet and wear it in order to hide a helmet because!? What the difference between hiding any helmet and a polymorphed helmet? I'm completely lost.

If it's something as simple as creating a fake hat somewhere and costuming it for the sake of hiding it then can someone providing directions?

I tried to remake the costume of Harkon featured in Skyrim. It looks a little too heavy, but it was the closest I could get with the in-game armor.

Zaan Hardmode (Scalecaller Peak) needs LOTS of adjustments and some bug fixing

$
0
0
Hey, first of all: I love the dungeon, it's really great. I love the general concept behind Zaan Hardmode, too. BUT the deeper I digged into the mechanics, the clearer it got to me that the current implementation is utter rng. There are some problems with the dungeon that need fixing. I'd differentiate between two problems: actual bugs and concept flaws.

Bugs:
1. During Peryite's tripe poison zone, the petrifying beam often fails to petrify players running into it.
2. Whenever she dies while stuned (happens on application of 'burning' status effect!), no geyser will spawn.

Design/concept flaws:
The main issue with the fight is, that there are many combos that can kill you without any chance of avoiding it: Generally spoken, there are too many mechanics that can incarcerate people if they are occuring at the same location: Like some ranged DD getting targeted by the boss's fire beam and the petrifying beam and/or the frost atronach's spike zone blocking the way for the tank to react => ranged DD is dead. no chance of surviving.

1. Zaan's fire beam
Tanks/melees, that must interrupt/block the beam, have no time to run around other harmful and important AOE's that block their way, before the target gets killed.
=> The beam must either do far less damage (not preferred as it would be outhealable) or it has to build up for a longer time before the killing pulse comes (double the time)!
=> The beam should prefer players that are further away from the boss, so tanks and melees don't get surrounded, caged in them or get they path blocked.

2. The safety zones (petrifying beam, boss shield, gush spring, moving spike field)
The zones CAN STACK during periytes triple breath. Players are guaranteed to die from that.
=> Just needs a plain fix, not a change of concept.

3. The petrifying beam
The beam vanishes/gets recast after it has been active for a specific amount of time and respawns on another location shortly after. This often happens when you need it (periyte tripe breath phase). If that happens, it's a guaranteed death.
=> The beam may not respawn unless a player got hit/petrified.

4. Periytes NORMAL breath (1 line)
It comes FAR!!! too quickly. You have no chance to react to it, if you don't stand at it's edge. Problem is: If you position yourself at the edge, there are the other mechanics that will push you out of position. Keeping your position is nearly impossible, especially if you bring melee DDs. The way this works currently, is extremely unfair.
=> Increase the time until the breath ticks after the telegrapher is displayed or display the telegrapher earlier (it's actually the same). This mechanic is extremely unfair the way it currently is.

Don't get me wrong ,I love difficult and sophisticated boss mechanics and it was high time that hard modes could deliver what their name promises, but the current combination of rng mechanics and the lack of reaction time is not making this fight hard, but simply unfair. Please retune the timings and fix mechanics that are guaranteed to kill players if they happen at the wrong time.

Not receiving a bounty for being caught pickpocketing/stealing

In Clockwork City I opened a thieve's trove and a nearby npc turned hostile, but I didn't get a bounty. I waited until she was no longer attacking and tried pick pocketing her, and on the third go, was caught, but again, didn't receive a bounty. Then it happened again, when I tried stealing from another npc. Both locations were out in the wild with no guards around, so it wouldn't have mattered if I did get one, but I figured I should mention this.

Moment of Reckoning is a PVE guild on the Xbox North American server. We are currently accepting members of all types and of any alliance.

A few things about MoR:

• We use Discord for easy communication and scheduling of events.
• We have dungeon/pledge teams and would love to have many more. (This is great for people that may want to complete daily pledges, have a steady group to rely on to complete the dungeon group content without having to pug.)
• We have open normal trials for all progression members and will be forming a vet trial team soon.
• We have active members leveling and they would be happy to join you if you are also questing to level.
• We have several 9 trait crafters for your crafting needs.
• Our Guildmaster has a guild house that is open to everyone as a "guild house". (This is still a work in progress)
• We have a fun guild Daggerfall Covenant PVP night weekly on Thursday's.

Update: We are looking for a dps and a healer that can run nights on a dungeon/pledge team.

We would also love to have some members for the daytime hours 8-4 cst.

MoR is a very friendly guild and we strive to help our members with whatever they wish to achieve within the game. I could go on and on.... But who really wants to read all that.

If we sound like a good fit for you please comment below, message us here, or contact Laila 821 through Xbox.

Hope to talk to you soon.
